I enjoyed the Hake and Chips at Ocean Basket Kenilworth Centre, since the restaurant has reopened they now have comfortable seating inside the restaurant.Then for dessert I would recommend the Baklava Cheesecake.The service is excellent and so far it has been the best service I have received at a Ocean Basket.

Fantastic service and the best seafood ever.

Very poor service. Ordered via Uber Eats at 3.55pm and scheduled delivery for between 5.30 - 6pm. Order was delayed by 10minutes 3 times and now again delayed until 6.40pm. Drivers were changed 4 times. Tried calling the branch 6 times, calls were diverted and cut. Having to wait this long for an order without a phone call to communicate the reason for the delay is disappointing and unacceptable. Will never order from this branch again.The Uber driver said the staff were only focused on the in store patrons and noone from the restaurant bothered to communicate to the drivers, who cancel the delivery because of the long delay.

Ordered the family platter online and was disappointed by some of the portion sizes. This platter is advertised as a sharing platter for 4, but in this case could have easily be rebranded as a platter for 2. Disappointed. Would have been cheaper and more substantial to purchase separate meals.

Bought platter for One. Single hake piece was sooo tiny and mostly batter. Mussel sauce had WAY too much Garlic pieces in it, making it waaayy to potent!The prawns were good, even though they forgot the cajun spice.

The food was actually so awesome...I have docked two stars because the waiter wasnt paying attention to our table...it took us so long to try and get extra serviettes and side plates...and eventually ask for the bill...if the service was slightly better I would give it 5stars

Hi, OBI simply love fish, and any kind of seafood. Two of my kids are allergic to shellfish, one to prawns and the other calamari. I just dont understand it. But over the years I have always kept Allergex in my bag. So when we go to any OB, I say who needs Allergex, and then both of them wants it, because they love fish just as much as I do.It was my eldest daughter sixth wedding anniversary on the 20 Dec and we were in Paternoster, at their Leeto Restaurant and she ordered oysters for her and her husband. She get those swollen lips like Angelina Jolie or Mick Jagger, but nothing happened, thank God.My experience at your branch in KC, was in the middle of Covid-19. My friend and I were hungry and we wanted to pop quickly into a restaurant for coffee and cake. We stood and stood and stood and were dallying at the entrance of this restaurant. Waiters were ignoring us. Mind you, the restaurant was empty. So I asked my friend if shed prefer fish and she said, oh yes. I said OB is open and they dont look busy. Lets go there. We were welcome with big smiles and a quick protocol was in place. The staff were lovely and the food always great.

Terrible experience. We ordered all our food at the same time a starter and main.We asked our waiter to bring us glasses of water while we wait for the drinks and we never got the glasses of water till we left.When our starter came out it was just whitebait instead of whitebait and calamari.We reminded the waiter that it was not the order we put it and had to wait 10 more mins to get the actual stater we ordered.When our main meal came everything was salty and we could not eat it,so I asked another waitress who was near by to take it back to the kitchen.we waited again for a few more mins while they sort our platter for 2 and when it came out it really showed that they just washed off the salty cream which was on top of the prawns and calamari and refried our food. After they refried the calamari was hard to chew like a bubblegum and the prawns were too oily.We came out to enjoy our 4th wedding anniversary but everything was terrible. We love seafood and we are always coming for your food but after this experience am not sure we will come back again.

If I could give no stars I would, I came with my family to enjoy a wonderful sea food meal after shopping around. But unfortunately, due to I dont know what specific reason we were turned away because they apparently had no space for trolleys, which I find highly unbelievable

Best ocean basket I’ve eaten at so far. Fantastic service and very quick turn around time from ordering our food to actually eating. Very impressed by the staff members attention to detail. Usually, one would go to ocean basket so hungry and the anticipation of the platters would make you wait anxiously and patiently, and the food would take so long to get to the table, that when it does, you not as hungry anymore. But this ocean basket had our platter for two at the table within 10 min of the waiter taking our orders. Well done to Management 👍

This store is my stop over every time I visit Kenilworth Centre and normally enjoy my meals and service given by William,who is an exceptional waiter!Last Saturday I had a terrible experience as my entire family including myself was sick later the evening either from food poisoning or something in the food.I was also disappointed that our food was served cold due to some machine they had that was not working and also the entire meal was soaked and drenched in lemon butter sauce.I could overlook all of that but for a family of 5 to fall ill after having a meal is very concerning.Very dissatisfied and disappointed as I am a huge OB fan and doubt I would return to this particular store again.

We were especially impressed with the quality of the food when we had the take away fam platters on 3 separate occasions. The food was great and ready for collection. The waiter checks the order with u, the service is excellent. We will recommend OB kenilworth to all friends and family.

I find that this is one of the better Ocean Baskets in Cape Town and best of all they are fully halaal. Probably one of the only ones left. I find that the best times to go is mid to late afternoon and always in the middle of the month. Thats when you really get good food and attentive service.

Very nice seafood restaurant. One of a few Ocean basket restaurants that dont serve alcohol.And they service is excellant.

Mussels was cold. Prawns had a horrible yellow substance over it. Tasted like cheap margarine. Definitely not what ocean basket use to be. Very disappointing. Wont be in a hurry to come back

Ocean Basket used to serve and maje the butter sauce withvpure dairy butter only. Pure butter is no longer available at their restaurants andcit majesca big difference to their sauce. I grew up eatingvdairy butter and the smell of margarine is nauseating. They have lost me as a customer.

On arrival we asked for a table for 7, inexperienced staff asked if we will sit 3 at one table and 4 at another. ReallyWe shouldve left right there.Our food arrived it has cold and no sauce, two slices of lemon on the whole table. Asked for sauce for the grilled fish it came cold. Oh and the starters we had was tomato soup and cream mussel soup Omw how terrible. It tasted like the mussels and butter garlic lemon sauce had just been thrown together with a little cream.We complained to both manageress that were on duty and we were told they will investigate and get back to us and that was a month ago. OB was our go to seafood spot but we were all disappointed with the service

I thought Im giving two stars but four appeared. Today I ordered potato rosti as a starter , it was thin and cold ,tasted terrible. I did not complain as my husband was in a hurry.my fish for main meal was not done properly. When this branch first opened ,their food was good. But now not so good.

Food and service always good and OB to me is the best

The worst ever. They charge R20 for a 300ml bottle of coke and not a can as always. The food was prepared way earlier as it looked old like it was standing and came within 3 minutes after we ordered. Probably microwaved. The unfriendly waitress asked us to pass along our drinks for a group of 8 instead of walking her fat arse around the table. Please people inform others. Bad service needs to stop in our beautiful country. They just taking our money and giving us junk.

I went back to this ob and was really impressed as they provided water and rolls early for us to break our fast. The only complaint I have is the manager. We were placed right by the kitchen and the manager is shouting at the top of her lungs to the chef, when a waiter tried talking to the chef she shouted telling him to shut up multiple times.Something went wrong in the kitchen and the manager is shouting so much at the staff and the restaurant is absolutely full, everyone can hear her embarrassing the staff.

First and last time I will support this establishment. No brown or wholewheat bread? I went to mugg and bean and bought a brown bread to have with my meal. Duty manager(female) couldnt care. There is far too much variety of choice to accept this mentality.

I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone, they are not accommodating at all and refuse to make a simple amendment to my meal such as giving me half portion veg and chips instead of veg only. Even the manager was just adamant no we cant and thats how it when I got home, I advised my children not to frequent this establishment, and all agreed

Absolute disgrace of the ocean basket franchise. We went in a group of 10 on wednesday 24th May 2017. I did the proper thing and not just rock up at the restaurant but made a reservation for 7pm. We got there at 7pm expecting to be seated but was told that they did not make the tables as the person taking the reservation did not notify anyone and we had to wait for about 10 minutes. We got served by a waiter that was clearly overworked as they had staff shortages that day. We ordered our drinks to be told that they do not have what most of us wanted. We ordered our main meals and waited for about and hour and a half. Food came out cold and they forgot how we wanted the meals ie grilled ,fried or cajean. This tells me the person that owns the franchise does not take pride in his business and also does not give proper training to his staff. We decided to go to the that particular store as its fully halaal, but im sorry to say myself and the other nine individuals will not return to your restaurant.Pathetic service and pathetic food. I gave it one star only because the system does not allow zero stars.
