Amaziiing, so far we tried lots of place in Cape Town but this one is the best. The hospitality of the owner and service and the atmosphere were extraordinary. We ate pide and drank tea. We went 3 times in one day because we fell in love with this place. It is just in the center of the city.Perfect place for chilling with the friends. I strictly recommend to everyone. Regards from Serbia.
Food was great. The only problem was the waiting period. I wish the food would come out abit quicker however amazing food!!
Traipsing around the CBD after 10pm looking for a venue with an open kitchen (which is almost impossible) my friends and I found our way to Barans. As we were a group of seven they kindly kept their kitchen open for us when we arrived at about 10.50pm! We only discovered this much later while we were settling our bill. Apparently they usually close their kitchen around 11pm unless theyre busy - in which case theyll remain open to serve customers. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The menu offered a variety of Kurdish fare to suit most diners. The prices were reasonable too. Id recommend their pizzas and kebabs. Yummy!
I had to send a drink back 3 times because the glass was dirty, on the inside too. The 2nd time there was a hair in my glass, I sent it back and the waiter assured me that it was a new drink, the same hair and other things (looked like pieces of food) were floating in my glass. I ended up ordering something in a sealed bottle and the bottle was dirty. Super disgusted. I waited a whole 45 minutes to get my drink. We wanted to order food but changed our minds because if glasses were that filthy, I dont want to know about the crockery and cutlery. Disappointed and disgusted to say the least
The food is insane!!!! We had about 4 different dishes but everything was delicious, wow, wow, wow😍😍😍
Best food !! And excellent service. This has to be the ultimate chillout spot if you want to have a chat with friends or family and have a tasty unique meal.
Where should i begin?I agree that people put in a great deal of effort to cook a meal and provide a good customer service but so if you are not up for it why get into it ?!!!Firstly my Lamb pasta was dripping oil, the waiter got the orders mixed up.I gave them a second chance and they ruined it ...Chicken was burnt!!!!
Veery good
Its okay for afternoon drinks and Shisha... However service can be disappointing at times.
People here are very delayed...
Friendly and good coffee
Love everything there
Customer service is utterly pathetic
This place is not CoVid ready. Most of the staff wore their masks around their chins. The kitchen staff do not wear hairnets or gloves and one chef fed herself a piece of bread - stuffing it into her mouth without so much as washing her hands after. The kitchen staff is my main concern. The Dolmades and Shakshuka was clearly off. When I sent it back, the chefs just returned it to my table saying that it was made the day before and couldnt possibly be off. I actually heard screaming coming from the kitchen.I ordered the Meze Platter. I was given two servings of Cacik instead of Humus and told that the Humus was still being made... if I was still in the restaurant when the humus was done, theyll bring some to me. 30 minutes later, I asked whether the humus was done. Only after the waitress went to the kitchen to check did the blender get turned on. Clearly, the kitchen staff actually had no intention of actually making the humus.I was disappointed in the food - especially with being served food that was off - and being expected to be satisfied with it, even after it was sent back. The attitude of the kitchen staff in general was disturbing.
There is nice outdoor sitting. The good quality is good. They take little bit time to prepare the food but it was okay as we were having a discussion. The staffs are very friendly. It is good if you are going there in group too. The place is safe.
Amazing staff ,, amazing vibe and totally adhering to covid regulations
Didnt eat much here. Had some coffee and ordered for some fries it took some time to come but they were good.. very close to the square if you just want to take a break from all the shopping and bargaining this is a good place
You know you going to have lots of people who will be needing tables. Yet the owner sits at tables with his friends instead of going upstairs and leaving games tables open. Also the system of different tables belong to different waiters must be able to be adapted if people move tables together. For a city establishment with lots of activities, the fact that you cant adapt under pressure is really disappointing. Please manage situations on a case by case procedure. Instead of trying to make things difficult for your patrons..As many has come and go.. Dont think you there long that you cant lose your appeal. Get simple things right. So all in all just change your attitude towards challenges and change..
Good service and great shisha better than most in Cape Town, the guy who makes it really knows hes stuff, their meze platter was delicious! I was really impressed its been long since I had one that good, nice place to take a break from the market
Very nice, proper European feel. Shisha to enjoy, great food. Beautiful outside dining as well. Go there quite often to be honest
WOW Barans!!! Absolutely amazing, decided to pop in with two other friends and just check the vibe of the entire place, and I was amazed at how great the customer service was from the staff, waiters than werent even waiting our table came to check and make sure were good. Was really an amazing experience, especially for someone like myself who loves great customer service as anyone can appreciate, I will definitely recommend Barans to anyone from all over as it was beyond AMAZING, endless possibilities. #10outa10
The absolute best
I love this place. The food is great the atmosphere is chill. The staff and Shisha, awesome!
Prices ans food are good in this kurdisch Restaurant. The menu is not too big, but it is fine. Was directly next to our apartment so we went there some Times... :)
Its nice to sit outside but service has been better in past years. I would eat there.
Services with a smile it was not, which is less than i expected from my experience in most competing places in my couple weeks here. The pizza was good though. Probably a tad expensive relative to other similar places here too, given its immediate proximity to the tourist trap that is Green Market Square. Not bad as such, just fell short of the mostly exceptional service Ive experienced elsewhere.
A fun place to grab a bite or draft or chill waiting for the next free walking tour or post walk. Wide range offered. Kurdish player was nice selection of five different items with flat bread.
Not the nicest looking restaurant youll ever eat at, and could be a little cleaner, but the authentic Kurdish coffee and food are insanely good. Staff are also really nice. I recommend the Lamb Pide (a type of pizza pie).
Nice quiet atmosphere, nice food, friendly staff.
Your local Turkish chill spot. Best shisha in cape town. Nicely priced drinks. Cool chilled waiters, tip always included in bill which is a lil weird. Good strong coffee. New seats are needed though, please.
Kurdish restaurant. Great vibe and a good quality shisha pipe, as well as the pizza. The place does feel like it needs a revamp in terms of furniture.
Love this place.... Good food and great hooka! Great chill vibes with friends!
Good shisha. The staff is excellent and courteous. There is seating available inside and outside of the restaurants. The food is decently priced and is very tasteful.
Ive been here twice for coffee and shisha. Its a pleasant place and quite hidden. Havent tries much of their food yet but I will definitely will go again.
Awesome food. The menu is really well-priced for a good amount of eating! The portions are generous and extremely tasty.
Good vibe although wasnt there for food or drinks just a meeting....
The service is just cool and friendly. Food is great
Atmosphere 10/10. Food 6/10. Amazing to chill at and have a beer or a coffee. But dont expect to be amazed by their food. Its pretty average.
An excellent Lebanese restaurant in Green market Square which also serves sheesha. Food is decent and service is good. They also have outdoor seating
Lovely Turkish /Kurdish decor old World Style interior stepping into an earlier period of olde Cape Town - serves nice coffee and Baklava with real ingredients not cheap but worth it so its not expensive for a good refreshments for those with a sweet tooth and liver of coffee
Being at Barans is like being at home. You feel free and open to possibilities because anything that is fun is possible. Trustme I am there almost everyday. Its definitely the place to be if you want to chill..
Good food, but it takes way too long for them to prepare food and hookahs. Maybe they need more staff? Idk
Corner Café with outside tables from where you can watch the comings and goings in and around the historic Greenmarket Square. Great coffee and a good menu. It and the neighbouring cafe are both owned by a Turkish Kurd and the managers are also Kurdish. Fits right into Cape Towns cosmopolitan nature. Great spot.
Nice place , nice staff. Bit slow but nice .. good food Nd good hookah , i recommend this place
Unprofessional. Place that doesn’t want to learn how to make a Shisha. 2 burning coals on just a single layer of aluminum foil and the tobacco is burnt in 3 minutes. All is left for you to smoke is a burnt harsh flavor. And to extra charge for the piece of aluminum is pathetic especially after so much money being spent and tipping. That’s a principle. Greediness kills businesses
The sheesha (hooka) is okay and not that great. Ive had better. But whats nice is the place and comfort. Its not crowded and relaxing.
Overcooked the pasta, swimming in olive oil. Not happy with the waitering service. All around I cannot recommend a friend to go there and try the menu. Very disappointed!
Best place to relax and unwind while having a nice shisha session
Awesome place.... relaxed atmosphere ... it has a great ambience and is truly an experience to relive over and over again.
My hometown. Always awesome. Friendly service.
Nice Shisha and not so expensive compared to what I saw in Cape Town. Also the workers were very nice and kind.
The staff there are so friendly, I love their chicken pizza and their Greek coffee. They also serve a good shesha.
Fantastic atmosphere city centre nightlife glitter and glam... awesome experience
Amazing place with fantastic entertainment. Great for a group of friends
Im giving one star becayse theres no option for no star. Worst service ever! Waited for our food for almost an hour. All the waitrons were ducking and diving when we tried to find out what the delay was. We asked to see the manager several time, none came. So disappointing.
The location is excellent and it felt that this was reason enough for everyone at Barans to get complacent. The service is poor and the food is average plus. No wifi despite what the place advertises and the bill you get is a proforma that includes a generous tip. Out of interest I waited to see whether I was going to be asked if I wished to pay that tip but sure enough it was charged to my credit card and was never discussed. I spoke to a few Capetonians who laughed heartily and told me they never go there. I totally get why!
I found great Kurdish food on the other side of the planet. I loved it, I couldnt ask for anything better. If you are near the City Centre, make sure you pay them a visit.
We came here after our lunch for coffee and shisha. Its a pleasant place. The staff is nice. The shisha was ok.
Great food. I recommend asking for a slightly rarer meal than you would.
A really special spot with simple but tasty food and friendly service.
They have nice cold beer, WiFi and card payment. Awesome place to take a break at!
Friendly staff and noce venue when weather is good. Food quality not very good.
The food and atmosphere at Barans is world class. Its a restaurant for family and friends to meet
Amazing place to relax after a tough day at work...whether a AL - Fakhir Okka pipe or a cold beer is your thing... They have both
Really good food. Lamb on my pizza loved this place
Hidden gem in the mother city. Delicious meze, great service and shisha. A must visit when in Cape Town
Slow service. Food tastes like its been prepared hours ago
Good place for Sheesha/Hukka. Classic Arabian setting.
Very slow service! Not enough supply , they were out of basic ingredients like Tonic, lemonade , water not cold ...
Fine Kurdish Cuisine served in a lively atmosphere overlooking Greenmarket Square
Nice placid place for a drink and a hookah. Friendly staff and owner
Historic setting! Excellent cuisine!
Awesome place with the view over the market sqaure
Food was okay, service was amazing
As always excellent whenever I visit.
It was fantastic, the service was excellent, loved the Marimbas.
