The service is friendly and atmosphere is good. However for a franchise there flavour has definitely drifted from the ocean basket experience. Will not be visiting there again. That was a definite fail.

As always Ocean Basket served good food.Unfortunately their sushi menu, which has been updated with a fancier selection, no longer includes my favourite fashion sandwiches.The chocolate lava dessert - which I highly recommend - was delicious and the perfect size after a filling meal.

Service delivery is amazing, management is on the ball and very helpful! Food arrived quickly despite the restaurant being jam packed. I would definitely recommend this branch to anyone...

Absolutely terrible experience. Firstly, as a start, we as a familt werent assisted properly apon arrival. Host had an attitude after we stood at the door for quite some time for assistance, and it seemed he was more upset because we entered looking for some help. This already presented negatve vibes. We had to wait almost an hour for our meals to arrive, whereas everyone who arrived after receiced theirs. Only after my wife complained, did we receive any attention at all. Would have walked out if it wasnt for my son being promised an OB sunday lunch. Maybe we just chose the wrong one.

Aircon were either not on or or not coping. Was very hot. Staff were very friendly

They served us fish that was off. Before we could even eat it we could smell it and yet people who cook fish daily missed it. 🤔

Love that my family and I have an Ocean Basket so close to home, as we are all seafood lovers. My mom and Is new favourite on the menu is the Fritto Misto. It is a delectable spread of prawns, calamari, hake and zucchini all covered in a delicious golden batter, served with a fresh tomato & feta salad, a portion of chips and two tangy dips. We love to pair this with a carafe of the Pink Lemonade, which is super refreshing. My dad always loves the good old Hake and Chips off the menu. If you have a seafood craving, and you are in the Plumstead area, make sure to stop by.

Very disappointed in last nights meal. I ordered a family platter R420. It was dry and hard and tasted like it was prepared long before we collected it. The lady actually told us she would reheat it but we declined

Absolute disappointment!Almost every time we come here they refuse to let us in at 19:45 when they’re supposed to close at 21:00. Their excuse that its been quiet all day...so lets turn away paying customers especially after a time like COVID.Once we did get in they service was rushed and inhospitable; and the food was cold.

Ocean Basket is definitely one of my favourite eating places. This branch had left the franchise and is back again.Plumstead has always been a favourite even before the change around.The food itself is excellent - the portions good. I just hope that the good service will not drop as in the past.

Rations on tartare?!?! not enough to cover even the tip of fish never mind for a platter for 1! And since you are trying to reduce single use plastic is even worse to waste a container on a tiny drop of sauce.

So sad to see this once excellent establishment sinking to such low levels,we had to wait long for service,the staff looked very depressed and only smiled when we were leaving, no serviettes,cutlery and bread rolls on the table,saw a couple of upset customers leaving due to the lack of service,I hope they can get back to previous levels of excellence,but I will be back to check up

This branch used to be absolutely great for dining as well as for service. For some reason the food is not as great and we stopped using it. I think maybe I should go again. It could have changed for the better?

The bread was like a rock...I am a bread eater..when I ask them for another piece of bread the manager was not helpful at all...

Vibey, Space was renovated so theres a back entrance which is convenient for parking purposes, first ocean basket Ive been to that actually has music, food was good and staff were friendly:)

Food still good , service however suffers due to shortage of staff , Corona virus conditions and available staff having to devide their time between customers and phoned in orders.

I was sceptical about eating there last night (27 December 2015) as the floor was filthy and no one bothered to clear the tables until we requested that they be cleared. My husband convinced me that it must have been because they had been very busy earlier. So we stayed. At the end of our meal I went to the bathroom and was disgusted to see the state of it. There was blood on one of the seats that no one had bothered to clean. We decided against dessert., Paid and then left. An hour later I started vomiting and running to the loo. My husbands symptoms starting soon after. I called them now, and they said I first have to go to the doctor to get verification that they were the cause by going to the doctor. Worst experience of Ocean Basket ever.

We had a short business lunch. Food and service was good. The new menu is great! Top notch for a franchise store.

Lovely evening, fabulous food. Not a venue to go to if you want a romantic evening. Had to ask Waitron to move tables when he seated us next to a particularly loud table. Excellent venue for family might out.

Nice and relaxing

I had the platter with fish, mussels, and prawns. Beer on the side. Partner had the fish. Incredible. Okay, this was after a wine-tasting on Constantia Nek. Still though, it was awesome. The baklava and chocolate dessert too. 5 stars, easy.

Food and service use to be great but now its seems like they are under new management since they renovated.The food was underdone and tasted like there was to much dishwasher still in the container they used. i complained and they offered to refund as the kitchen was closed which is cool but no apology please employ management that are client centric.

Either your food will take forever to get to your table, or itll come on time, but you will be given no cutlery to eat it with. 1 knife and fork for a table of 4.Tables stay cluttered. Waiters need training.Never have a good experience at the Plumstead branch, itll never be my idea to eat here. Long Beachs brand is far better in every way.

If I could give negative stars I would. Appalling service and poor food, not my usually experience from the Ocean Basket franchise. Save your money and eat at home, or go to a different branch.

Ordered a simple hake and chips.And it delivered. Melt in your mouth and delicious for just 70 bucks.

Service and qulity were excellent! Im just not that big a fan of franchise restaurants. Otherwise if you want great fresh seafood options, you cant go wrong with Ocean Basket.

Closes at 6 on a sunday but website say 9 pm.

After what must have been 3 years of not visiting an Ocean basket after a bad experience at one, my wife and myself decided to treat ourselves to a long overdue visit to Ocean Basket Plumstead. Our experience was one that surprised us in many ways, mostly good though.The welcome was excellent, and we were welcome to choose anywhere to sit (though granted, the restaurant was not exactly overflowing with customers either).We were a bit saddened that the upstairs seating was no longer available as that was one of our favorite spots at this specific Ocean Basket, tough we did notice that the actual floor space increased substantially since our last visit, giving the restaurant an airy, open and non cramped feel. We both felt that even when packed with customers, the restaurant would not feel claustrophobic.We ordered a sushi starter and the tempura prawns, both of which were excellent and tasty (though for the price, an extra tempura prawn or two would justify its lofty price as it only comes with three prawns at just under R50). We then shared a platter for 2, and were really happy with the quality, freshness and presentation, as wel as the options available, specially after our less than wonderful experience a few years ago.The in-house baked rolls was excellent, and the smell of baking rolls was a really welcoming and mouthwatering experience.Parking is plentiful behind the restaurant, though can get noisy due to its location on Main Road Plumstead, but its to be expected.Our waitress was really excellent, and keep us happy throughout our meal.We both left very satisfied, and would definitely return.

Not good. Watrons needs training. Ordered the fish of the day which I was informed will take about fifteen minutes. Said its fine cause by that time I will be done with the starter which was the Sashimi. The starter came after the main meal. Was also offered Tabasco sauce which never arrived. Service sucks , anyways wont recommend this place where people think and act like they doing you a favour to serve a meal which you ordered.

Food was great but the floor was dirty and some tables unkept. A child wasnt just noisy, he screamed and shouted at the top of his lungs to the disdain of other patrons. None was done to quiet him down.
