Excellent service and the freshest food Ive ever had at an Ocean Basket. Definitely will be coming back soon for their prawns 🙂

My son loves this venue for dinner – and we regularly travel “over the mountain” to eat here on special occasions. It is on the beachfront and is absolutely beautiful at sunset. The staff are friendly and service prompt. It may be a chain, but we rate this restaurant very highly.

Some of the time the food is fresh and delicious.Ordered today and once again the food is fried in old oil to the point it actually gives a bitter taste. And for some reason I think they running short on lemon butter since I barely got any.Finally closing the chapter on my support for ocean basket

Good daySo after a 3 hour hike yesterday, a friend and I decided to get some good comfort food and what better way to end a hike by having some fish/seafood. We decided to do, OB Camps Bay. We were greeted by the manager and told us to sit anywhere, we op for going upstairs but could not due to a function. We understood.We took our seats- It took about 8min-10min before we got our menus (I literary wave at the manager who was just standing there to ask for a menu but he chose to rather tell the waiter who was busy with another table to attend to us) It then took another 5min to get the managers attention to just order a beer, he again looked at the waitress who was busy, told her to come and help us. Still dont know why he didnt come.. Some other patrons had to stand up and get serviettes, salt and pepper as he just stood there. Everything was such a mission and took forever. Not ones did he even come to our table or any other table to check if we or any of the and other patrons were okay, if we got what we were looking for, anything that he can help and assist with. Nothing!!!Anyway, this was ONE OF THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! I dont know how you can allow someone like that to manage your establishment. I later asked the waitress, whats up with the manager and she said he only helps if the owners are there another thn that, he just stands and orders them around. I couldnt believe it!!

Great seafood, great prices! One of less pretentious places in camps bay but don’t let the interior fool you. The food is really good.Also the menu reminds me of Greece: with halloumi and fried zuccini, mmmm!

I always eat there everytime I go to camps bay and always order platter for 2 but yesterday was very disappointed me cause the carami and mussels was very salty!! Hope not happen again next time.

The quality of food was great for price. The position is world class. They were u understaffed with waiters but due to un predictably due to covid I understand that issue. The manager left a lot to be desired. Has absolutely no idea how to handle a contentious issue. None what so ever.

Best Ocean Basket in South Africa, hands down. Friendly and efficient staff AND, best of all, the owners, what great and loving people! I would recommend THIS Ocean Basket to anyone. Did I mention the amazing location? Feels like you are on holiday while feasting next to the beautiful Camps Bay beach. Treat yourself and visit them.

Popped in for lunch. Went to bathroom first. One soap dispenser broken. Other one empty. Questioning how the staff washed their hands post going to the bathroom to then prepare my food I left as I didn’t want food poisoning. Or worse.

Very bad management. Manager standing in the door and scratching his head, facemask om his chin.Almost impossible to enter.Wine off. Food fried in old oil. Service ok.

I arrived at Ocean Basket, Camps Bay, to collect my order, placed on the Mr. Delivery App. I was given the collection time and order number to quote upon collection. Upon timely arrival, the person serving me, appeared surprised/doubtful at my request to collect the order. Put in this situation I had no choice but to show him the app confirmation with order number which he said he could not verify. This was not according to the instructions on the app? Why? He further insisted, with a doubtful look and without making an effort to check the facts which I present him with the actual order so that he can check. This is what I did. In all of this time, mine was the only order to be collected at the till and this attitude left me wondering and feeling disappointed.....I regret to rate the service as extremely poor.

This place has great food amazing views and friendly staff. Had some wonderful wine too all for a very reasonable price. Family friendly and very welcoming.

Very slow and unprofessional service. But you have to go there for the Oysters!!! Its amazing and so fresh. Food in general is awesome. You gonna wait for more than 1 hour for you lunch, but it worths that!Wonderful ocean view is included.

The service at Ocean Basket, Camps Bay is decent and they check up on you to make sure you don’t need anything more.I tried the Prawn Special with a side of Fried Calamari and I usually don’t like Calamari but the way Ocean Basket makes it I actually enjoy it. The Prawn Special comes with Rice and Chips so it definitely is quite a filling meal.Atmosphere and view from the top is amazing, it overlooks the Camps Bay Beach so make sure you try and get a seat near the window.

0 hospitality.. they asked us to take the temp ourselves and write it on the list.. nobody was at the door to welcome customers.. the sushi chef didnt know what to tell us (it is not his job) ... we just left.

Everything was amazing. The bread on table fresh and crunchy. The sushi was to die for. Platter was delicious fish and chips was fried crispy, rice was flavourful, Mussels and sauce superb was really worth the drive. Thumbs up for your kitchen staff keep up the good work guys...

One of the least enjoyable meals I’ve had for a long time. It wasn’t the food - it was the service that was sloppy. The place was almost empty when we arrived yet we waited for 3 minutes before being seen to while waiters chatted to each other. The same thing happened after sitting down. I moved tables because the floor had squashed chips underneath, water with floaty bits that were not lemon and had to wait again for a bill at the end. It’s an aggregation of little nuisances that turned what could have been a pleasant meal in a nice location into one where I couldn’t wait to eat, pay and leave. Perhaps the location has people spoiled into complacency?

I had a wonderful experience at Ocean Basket Camps Bay! My waitress Bernie was very friendly and the manager, Chad was very helpful and active on the floor. The store was super clean and the atmosphere was lovely :)

Most of this review is owing to the view we had. Service was average basics were met, but nothing great to write about. Food was lovely decent portions, fresh muscles were questionable wasnt its normal fresh taste, but overall an enjoyable night out, but again the sunset view made up a lot, upstairs needs to be brought to life for the others who dont have a window view looks like someones kitchen. Whenever someone leaves window seat clients dive to get there for relief of those boring white walls upstairs.

Its Ocean Basket, so you know exactly what to expect, except that the view is about a thousand times better than what youve got in Pretoria.

My friends and I experienced such poor customer service. We were waiting extremely long for our food, drinks ams evens the bill. We understood that they were busy, but the staff werent evens friendly. This will be my first and last visit.

The food was amazing, though the venue lacked ambience . Couldve atleast been cosy .

To our disappointment the top area was closed off (the actual drawing point for our visit) - so we only decided to just have coffee instead of lunch and went somewhere else.

The food is fantastic, well served portions and the service is very friendly. We ordered a mix of seafood and a bottle of white wine, everything was great with a good cost benefit. Definitely will come back.

Terrible service received from our waiter, she had an attitude, she was rude, she sighed every time we asked her for something, when we advised her she brought the wrong meal, she sighed and walked away without fixing the issue - eventually had to flag down the Manager to assist us - he was good and continued to serve us for the duration of our visit. However will also mention the hygiene in your restaurant is a bit of concern - asked for a jug of water - water and glasses smelt and tasted like onions, we then asked for bottled water. Partners ordered beers - beer glasses were EXTREMLEY dirty - my partner used a serviette to wipe his glass and the amount of dirt that came off was concerning. This Ocean Basket has definitely lost it touch.

Was a bit disappointed that there was no play area as everyone remarked that it is child-friendly. It is indeed child friendly with no one frowning on screaming kids, baby chairs available and enough space for them to move around. But not kiddy friendly per se. Bring your own crayons for kids to draw on paper table cloths (because of COVID risk). Otherwise food and service were great.

Beautiful views to beachfront with great music and good food

Visited this branch in Camps Bay for the first time last week with my family, and we were slightly disappointed by service we received. When entering, no one came forward to greet us or asked us where we would like to be seated, we just had to find a place on our own. The fish and sushi, however, was some of the best I had ever had from an Ocean Basket. The chips on the other hand were hard and old, but Ive never had decent chips from an Ocean Basket before so that is what I had sadly come to expect from this franchise.

Food was ok, not great. Friends i was with said their meal was not cooked thru. But the view is amazing & atmosphere great.

Well. Rejected deep frozen platter, I mean travelling all the way from Gauteng and eat frozen fish with ocean view doesnt make sence( covid stock guess) after that guys really made it up and fresh new platter was delicious. So 3* for now, lets see what next visit ll bring to the table...

The view is by far the best part about this place. We ordered a small sushi platter, a portion of hake and chips, and a sushilicious kids sushi (which was awesome!) everything was okay but nothing to write home about. The cold drinks are horribly overpriced and the vibe is non-existant. Service was slightly below the average of other establishments in the area.

Patience, our wonderful waitress, made dining here an absolute pleasure. The great food made it complete.

Wide range of all sorts of see food and sushi. we were satisfied with our choice of fish. One have to be aware that there are fish on the menu that comes from farms rather than ocean.

Service was bad.our waiter wasnt checking in on us.we had to ask for a spoon to dish the food.when we asked for something it took long to get to us.When we asked for our waiter,he had gone to buy ice.PATHETIC

They gave us someone elses cocktail because the ice had all melted and it tasted terrible and the manager was had no people skills and said thats how they make their cocktails. I would not go back even if I was paid to. The view was great though.

Food was great, service was good. Removing a star because the decor seems unfinished and upstairs (lovely views) has a rather cold ambience and the noise echos a lot. I would suggest soft marketing material for the walls and a suspended feature for the part of the ceiling that is convex shaped to absorb the sound, thereby making it a calmer, more relaxed atmosphere :) also dim the spotlights just a tad.

Received great service as well as good quality fresh food. A bit noisy being on the main strip, but as is expected in Campsbay. Thank you to the staff for their great service to us as local South Africans.

The food was good and our waiter great. We sat outside and there was a horrible smell coming from one of the drains, not necessarily their fault but they could have tried to deal with it. I was also rather disappointed when a different waiter or perhaps even a manager (Brighton) opened a drink for the table next to us and then casually threw the top into the street? Then looked annoyed when I said something.But for the rest an okay experience, we shared a platter for two which has a nice mix of everything.

Wonderful place for fish and chips with a view of the bay. I brought my cousin who was visiting from the states and she loved the views, the food, and the service, which was excellent. Its also affordable.

The sushi was good quality and the fish was rather fresh. It is in a great location right next to the sea and with the iconic Table Mountain behind it. The staff are friendly, especially the sushi chef, who you could chat to while she made the sushi.
