Great seafood and 🍣 sushi. Got there a little late (curfew) so it was a little rushed but still great

I was served by a very friendly waiter. Table was set nicely.Appetizer was on the house.Had their platter for two.. and goodness it is by far the best main meal Ive had in cape town .The calamari was well spiced and fried. The fish was soft, well spiced and properly grilled.The view from this restaurant is just beautiful.A great spot for photos, and to enjoy some very good breeze while having a drink or good food.

Took my mom for lunch on Mothers Day. Absolutely perfect. From the time we got there, the gentleman who took our temperature at the door was very kind. We were then ushered to our table by a lovely lady (cant remember her name but she had short hair and it was slightly coloured, an orange shade). She was very helpful and kind. From the bread, which is amazing and was still warm, to the sushi starter and lastly the main, everything was delicious and well prepared. We had no complaints. Will definitely be back!! Thank you Ocean Basket V&A Waterfront for the great service!

Great service. The menu is vast,different and great combos and choices for all.The fries were one one the best Iv eaten in a while. Delicious food,freshness was amazing and while looking at the Majestic Table Mountain we enjoyed a lovely crisp Durbanville Hills Chardonnay.

First place to eat whilst visiting Cape town. The place has a good vibe with ample of seating space. The decor is really good. Staff are very friendly and the service was quick. As for the food it was simply delicious and had a lot of flavour to it. Thoroughly enjoyed it. There is a wide variety of selection of seafood dishes and you can combine them and order for a full platter which is fairly priced. Drink choices are also good. If I visit this country again, I am totally going to visit it. Totally recommended.

This ocean basket has one of the most amazing views overlooking the harbour, Table Mountain, Signal Hill, The Cape Wheel and the rest of the V&A Waterfront. The food was good and so was the service.

Spacious and plenty of natural light and tables, both indoors and outdoors. Has a picturesque view of the harbour. The staff is pleasant, friendly and helpful without being pushy.The food is well-prepared and fresh and up to OB standards.Recommended for families and informal lunching and dining. The prices are affordable. Great seafood and sushi menu and dont forget to order dessert.Halaal friendly.

Sometimes good sometimes bad on this occasion the service was good the food came very fast( within. 10 minutes) and the food was good. However there was many times that the food took very long to come and the quality was not good at all so overall this is a well located ocean basket with average service and average food quality located in a upmarket mall in Cape Town recently revamped. It’s excellent to sit outside but the only down side can be the birds that might disturb you.

It was a spur of the moment decision to go to Town and we ended up at V&A. It was very quiet inside the mall but the eateries were busy.Ocean basket was quite busy but all Covid protocols were being adhered to. We got there quite late in the evening. We sat in the outside area as the weather was wonderful. Our order was processed relatively quickly. Everything was lovely including the service. Prices have increased and for a family of four one can expect to pay RRR including drinks and a tip. But if its your once a month spoil, then its a lovely time out

I see why people likes to try new places on travel because going to ocean basket V&A for dinner was a mistake. They made me feel like I was supposed to have come with someone and the isolated table I was given 😒. The tall white guy who I believe is the manager wasnt friendly at all. Disappointed at my favorite restaurants.

Food is excellent and reasonably priced. The view is spectacular. Try for a table near the windows.

We received good service from the waitress Letta. However the seafood platter was very disappointing. We complained to the manager that the chips tasted like old oil and the calamari tasted boiled instead of grilled. He confidentially said but we change the oil every 5 days !!! Which to me is unacceptable. But he said it was correct. And they having problems with the calamari due to problems importing and exporting issues due to Covid19. He didnt apologize. So we paid for everything and left. We wont be back

Started out well, waiteress was attentive sushi was amazing. Main meal took long, on arrival was cold. Sent it back to be warmed up, came back prawns were burnt. Lost my apatite, asked the manager to take it of my bill. Their attitudes changed, the waitress and manager were not friendly after that at all.I wont be back, sad as you would expect great service @ V & A.

Portions were very small , only gave me 5 calamari tubes with my fish n chips calamari combo, i had to call waiter n show him wth is this , then he went and got more from the chef. Pathetic

First meal in South Africa, which opened up in Ocean Basket. Quite an attractive ambiance with blue as the main colour theme, here at Ocean Basket, our meals were already pre-booked. Hence, as we sat back, service was quite spot-on and efficient. The set meal consisted of a soup, fresh salad, seafood platter, dessert, coffee or tea and free flow of water. Pretty much a decent meal, the seafood platter paired with fries no doubt showcased the fresh catch but the portion was way too big for two person. Also, not the usual meal compared to the rice and noodles I eat all the time back home, I still ate but for a typical Malaysian like me, sorry to say, not my kind of food.

So disappointed that during level 1 lockdown they closed at 19:00 and most shops were open till 9pm. Curfew is 00:00. Went through for a birthday dinner to be turned away.

Nice ocean basket with a good view. Friendly service but for some reason our starter potato rostis were tiny! I’ve had them before at Ocean Basket Menlyn and they were a great deal larger than the potato chip size I received at the V&A restaurant...slightly disappointed.

I treat myself to a seafood platter at Ocean Basket every so often and its something I really look forward too, every time. My visit to the V & A Waterfront Ocean Basket on the whole was enjoyable, with the exception of the following: (1) The metal dish on which the food was served had obviously not been pre-heated as my meal started off with the food just the proper temperature, but within 10 minutes it was barely luke-warm. To interrupt everything at that stage seemed the greater of evils so I pushed on. (2) The choice of Chardonnay was limited to the more expensive option - out of stock - my pet peeve. (3) I wasnt offered a wet hand-napkin in spite of the fact I was covered in butter sauce from ear to ear - it was only upon my exit that I noticed baskets full on a shelf. Cost saving - upon request only? I dont know. So, a great meal, but the service can definitely improve.

Today was the first time in my life that I wasnt satisfied with my food at an Ocean Basket.I ordered Calamari and Chips main meal, and the Calamari was fried too long, and thus extremely dry. My friend ordered a platter for 1 and his calamari was exactly the same. Both our food was actually cold also when it arrived at our table.Probably wont go back to the Ocean Basket there, after this experience.

Worst ocean basket experience I have ever had. Waited extremely long for the starters. Then waited long for the mains. They didnt even clean the starters plates off the table before bringing the mains.Young kids are not welcome. No kiddies chairs or anything to cater for younger kids.Something that Ill remember from this ocean basket is not being greeted by the staff on entry or when leaving, which is something that has happened at all other ocean baskets Ive been at.The pic below is how the table looked when they were bringing our mains...Highly disappointed and dissatisfied...

Ive eaten at OB V&A quite a few times however today was a very bad experience. We ordered the Full Deck platter, I think. We requested Cajun Grilled everything. A few things....1. We got steamed food with spice on top. We still ate it asking each other whats off?2. The butter sauce was a dollop of what was on a platter eaten previously.I had to purchase an additional R6 sauce on a R565 meal.3. The table next to us also pointed out the drop in standard.4. To the waiters credit he apologised on behalf of the establishment however that was the end of it. He felt no reason to inform any one of this. The waiter still got his tip.5. I had to approach a manager to air my grievance and assured him its not about money who offered a free desert next time we dine there.6. Its dismissive and presumptuous to assume ill bring return business given our immediate experienceThe lockdown effected everyone not just businesses. Its not an excuse to lower standard by such a large margin that you go from recommending them to never wanting to go back.

Nice staff but the food seems a bit prepared ahead of time. Although the fish is fresh it tastes like it has been cooked before you order and just plated when your order comes in. But if you are looking for good value for money and a quick meal its worth dropping in.

They have discontinued their kids menu. Other restaurants immediately make a plan to adjust food for children. We had to call a manager to get a meal for the children. A child cannot eat a adult size portion. Whoever discontinued this menu was not thinking clearly. They had no sugar free cool drinks available. To top it off the food took about a hour to arrive. Resturant wasnt busy either. I know its lockdown and the rest but communication is key and being more forthcoming will go a long way to make a happy customer.

Service poor, poor how disappointing oh my word, irrespective whether they were busy busy, we awaited to be seated a bit long, our order was taken incorrectly, rolls the taster.was ice cold, garlic was rationed like 2 teaspoons, when our order came we were given incorrect fish instead of hake myself an partner got angel for which he is allergic,the other order got angel instead of hake, oh my word what a mock, the air.conditioning blows the food so cold its so not nice...and another thing a guy who introduces himself as the manager an then says my aunt an sister can have a cappuccino on the house low an behold Damn when the bill came we.were charged for it and then my aunt called.for.the manager to.explain, although the manager wasnt very friendly, very short off but wasnt a nice experience an our bill tallied to over R500, once but never again I will try not to visit that OB again...an.I.thank you

Had our dinner at this play yesterday. Their sea food is fresh and delicious. I think I will come back again with my friends for our Sunday Dinner Tradition. The only thing that they need to improve is their waiters. They take long to take orders.One thing I noticed is that they were all gathered at the front door waiting for more people to come through to get tables. You must have a host !
