Last Thursday , my husband and I had a quick supper here as we were staying at one of the hotels in Century City. The restaurant was still open and we could order The food and drinks were amazing and at good prices. The atmosphere was good too. Will definitely visit again.

The sea food they serve is much fresher than most other places with sea food around. The service is above average with warm staff members. In all, I always have a pleasant experience whenever I visit. For fresh seafood and more, I would definitely recommend you try out John Dorys Century City at Canal Walk.

Unexpectedly good food for a mall food court. Amazing service Nomveliso was our waitress and she was wonderful! Views were nice aswell. 10/10

Waiters were friendly and we were helped immediately. The sushi was lovely and fresh , grilled prawns and calamari was also lovely . The strawberry cooler is great and contains nice Chunks of actual fruit such as strawberries and mint leaves

The food did not taste fresh. I know places freeze food and pre prepare it. But this food just did not taste nice & the portions seems off. 3 squid heads in our platter for 2 made no sense. First time Ive had a bad experience with food I ordered online

After spending much more time in Canal Walk than we had planned to, we popped into John Dorys. We were seated immediately by Yolanda, ordered drinks which arrived promptly,. I ordered a kiwi & pineapple drink which was enormous and could fill 4 glasses, so shared with Fred....thereafter, we ordered their special of the day.The manager circled the floor continuously, ensuring that everyone was satisfied.We received a bowl of popcorn which I gobbled down as I was starving, and our meal was received in good time..they probably saw me wilting away hahaa.Where else can you enjoy 3 grilled prawns, 3 mussels, grilled fish, rice salad, chips tarter sauce, for R109?Most delicious and filling. Take a turn if the special is still available, you will not be disappointed. (Unfortunately no photos 😔)

Visit johndorys on yesterday l received very good service experience.The team work from waiters was extremely good l was welcome with a warm smile - by prince escorted me to a clean table introduced to Yolanda as my waiter honestly l received 5star service. If l could open a business johndorys waiters are good waiters to be with

OMG why havent I tried this place before! My daughter is a huge sushi person so after the movie, thats what she wanted and you guys delivered Honestly. Zizipho our sever was AMAZING! ATTENTIVE AND FAST. The food was to die for, steak I ordered a MR but got a medium but since everything was soooo good I couldnt find it in my heart to say anything. Just the griller needs to watch his temps on the steaks otherwise no biggie. Sphe was your hostess/welcomer by the door, she was rude and very unwelcoming honestly, she just needs to treat everyone equal she left us hanging while we were asking questions to go help people behind us. But Zizipho, your amazing food and your tall nice guy manager (forgot his name) made the overall 1st time experience wonderful. I dont drink alcohol right, so I always drink water or something else. Therefore I ordered water, lemon, no ice as usual and what I got man exceeded my expectations honestly. Its the little things you know. Yall do a whole pilcher of water with Cucumbers, lemons, fresh mint that slaps differently than what Ive gotten anywhere else in SA. That for me was impressive to get that in SA, I LOVED that man! Will definitely be back to try more of your extensive menu. Love it. Keep up the good work ZIZIPHO!!!!

John Dorys Canal Walk was, well, great. From the absolutely beautiful view from the third floor terrace overlooking the breath-taking canal to the service and food. We ordered the R55 hake and chips special. Three pieces of deliciously grilled fish arrived with an ample portion of just as delicious chips (not to forget the good quality tartare sauce). And it tasted even more delicious than it looked. The servers were friendly and fast. As our visit was during lockdown, we were seated immediately as the restaurant was relatively empty. Even though the waiters and management staff must be under pressure at this time, they were still very professional and as helpful as they could be.

Every now & then we go there for a delicious mussel starter (its a generous portion) and some wine but the past Sunday, after doing some tiring shopping, we popped in.. and ordered their special: fish, prawns, mussels, rice & chips for R99!!! Excepting for the fact that portions of the meal were cold,It was really great value for money and yummy.. recommended! Oh yes, the wine was also more than very drinkable 😁

Excellent place for seafood and sushis. The place is very nice and cozy. The menu choice is great. The service is great - you will have a manager checking on you every now and then. The waiters are great as well.We had a seafood platter, sushis and some very nice prawns. The prices are also very good and by 18.30 the place was almost full compared to other placesSo definitely recommended !

Food was fantastic but service was poor... I had a vegetarian family with me and nothing on the menu was available..... Ended up only eating a garlic roll and a plate of chips.... If you dont offer whats on the menu, remove it..

John Dorys food was great, but service was a bit slow even though it was not very busy at 5pm. They also gave our sushi without any soy sauce and gave our food before the cutlery - we had to ask for cutlery. Food was delicious and well priced. My friends took advantage of the half price sushi on a Wednesday special, great sushi at great prices! They have also switched to paper straws. This is a great initiative - protecting our oceans and little sea turtles! Well done John Dorys!

Lovely food, restaurant is very neat. I dont take suger with my coffee, only honey... But restaurant did not have it. Otherwise place is nice and friendly

…..We are always on the look-out for some new place to have a meal of some sort when we happen to be at the Canal-Walk Shopping Mall! And somehow we just decided to pop into John Dory which has a shop area on the first floor of the Food-Court! We were actual-lii taken aback by the sheer size of the restaurant area as it looks small’ish from out-side! There is a host to meet & greet you at the entrance and also happens to be very friend-lii who introduces you to the menu! We found that they have fish & chips with a cool-drink & tartar-sauce from R39 small. R49 med & R59 large all these meals are on a take-away bases but for a standard meal starting at R49 you can sit-down and have it right there! Right at the entrance they have this large sushi counter that seats about 15 to 20 patrons with a conveyor going round & round with a huge varietii of fresh-lii prepared sushi made right in-front of your eyes! The lights above the sushi counter is very snazz-ii giving the place a nice appeal and ambience of its own!! The shop floor is in an L-shape and so is the seating’s! The place was very clean and everything seemed to be in place! The nice thing about the seating is that depending on where you sit you have various scenes to observe if you are close to the entrance you can look down on the very busy food-court or if you sit by the windows farther in you can see the love-lii canal and also the residential area it’s also from here in the late afternoon you will be able to catch some awesome sun-sets! By the looks of things they have a lot of special-deals on their sushi also! Our R49 fish & chips was scrumptious they are not shy with the rather big’ish restaurant style chips! The fish was fresh and taste-ii so it was worth our while to have made the stop here for a fish parcel on the go! The Take-out boxes and paper-bag was of a high qualitii recycle material and was non-grease-ii We will sure-lii make a return trip here in the future to try the fresh-lii prepared sushi!.....

We enjoy hanging out with our kids at John Dorys. The service has always been satisfactory, the main reason we go is for the Sushi, which is also very good.They have these new Mocktails, we ordered one each not knowing how huge they really were,but they were yummy and something different to try out for a change.

The waitrons are very attentive to their customers. The manager also mingles with the customers just to make sure that you are comfortable and satisfied. Myself and my son thoroughly enjoyed the sushi platters from the set menu, & believe me when I say we could barely walk out of there. The portions are quite filling. A great restaurant for the whole family.

Our waitron, Leonard, was friendly and efficient. He checked on a regular basis to make sure that we were okay. Our meals were prepared relatively quickly. However, the restaurant wasnt busy, at the time.The manager, Freddie, replaced a dish that my wife was unhappy with, even though we had not asked him to, and he left us happy to have shared the feedback.Definitely a place we will return to.

I so much wanted to rate John Dorys 5 but that would be too generous. Their reception is quite exceptional and the quality of the food was awesome. Although the waiter was over committed the managers service was awesome. Quality seafood and Dessert was fresh.

Sushi bar was great... But the the Mels were not good. It was although the platters were pre made. Did bring it to thier attention but was ignored. Made it bad birthday experience.

The calamari and prawns was undercooked, sent it back and just came back the same way. So we just paid and left. Very bad experience.

Our visit to John Dorys was fantastic. My Mom and my cravings for hake and chips were satisfied, my Hubbys taste buds tantelized with the schnitzel and my finicky 3 year old enjoyed his chicken strips with chips. So there you have it. Satisfaction guaranteed. Oh yes to add... having a busy 3 year old boy in John Dorys totally showed the delightful and amazing staff they have. Keep it up to the Management and Staff. I trust that despite the Covid 19 conditions, Customers will come and enjoy the food and the environment. Rest assured, great precautions were taken with compliance to the Covid 19 protocols. I will surely come back when back in Cape Town.

Friendly waitresses & nice food. However the general manager that was on duty tonight isnt leading by example. He doesnt know how to speak to customers & lacks basic good customer service.
