We liked this Spur and our waitress was fantastic. They had no problem taking back the nachos and heating it up when I mentioned that it was cold inside. The food was good and we especially loved the wristband they gave put on our 3 year old. It noted not only her name, but our table number, names and numbers.

A regular Spur. Waitron could improve their service. Children enjoyed the birthday party.

Steak was not as juicy as its price!After this was served as a medium sirloin, I was told they could give me a proper medium steak in 10-15 min while the others at the table are already eating, which we didnt want as our plan was to eat together. I suggested a refund/discount but that was not possible according to the staff. So I was forced to eat a well done steak.While eating my steak, I had to discuss the issue with a total of 3 staff members in a row showing up at our table one after another which deprived us of the last bit of enjoyment. 10 minutes after I decided to deal with the well done steak and we finally started eating, the 10-15 min to prepare a new steak suddenly turned into a few minutes as the third staff member came to the table and corrected what the previous staff member said, but by then it was already way too late.Service was rather poor, cutlery was just thrown on the table, reservation of table hadnt been taken in properly, we had to get up ourselves for everything...All friendly and stuff, but this was more of a headache than a relaxed lunch with friends, which is disappointing considering the juicy price of R169 for only one steak.Unfortunately never again.

Its a good time. Friendly staff that are eager to welcome you into their little hidden cove. Its lovely to be seated above the road- its an added bonus in my opinion; it creates an atmosphere and view that no other Spur can really say they offer. Ive never had a bad experience there, and look forward to my next visit.

The Spur are still the best family restaurant.The Golden Spur i visit was very nice. The staff very friendly and the service good and efficient. The steak i ordered was perfectly done. They do have a great menu and still value for money. I will recommend this outlet.

We had a great afternoon here. We were seated close to the play area. Even though we could keep a close eye on the play area, it was comforting to know that there is a staff member dedicated to the area.Our waitron was very friendly and efficient. The restaurant is situated on the first floor, there is a lift making it suitable for wheelchairs or elderly patrons. Certain parts of the restaurant are not wheelchair friendly.

We had breakfast. Our waitress was efficient courteous helpful. Food arrived in good time. Weve had better food served to us here. Will think twice about returning

Very popular with good food. They have a nice song when its your birthday. In all it is a kid friendly restaurant with a play area so your kids can play while you chat. When I was little it was my favourite place because me and my brother would play and our mom would call us when the food has arrived.

An awesome Spur with great service and great staff.

An understaffed spur...lack of visible people to greet you at the door, no one standing at front counter besides uber eats drivers. We went there for a complaint previously made so was to eat with better service. Met the manager only when we were done eating cause he was so busy waiting tables and dealing with 110 other things.....wont visit that store agAin!!

Golden Spur has the best staff compliment. Every wonderful waitron is friendly, competent and efficient. The ribs are delicious. Manager Lee is kind and friendly. Thanks Golden Spur for always and consistently holding your standard so high.

Best service I have had in a long time. My server thought the chicken. Breast portion wasnt up to code and requested the kitchen remake my food. The manager came by to let me know and I thought that was so kind and considerate.

Will definitely not recommend this restaurant! Lots of flies, poor service and tasteless food.... and this on a quiet evening. Also no child minder present.

I had relatively high expectations given that this is the OG first Spur branch ever opened and I was not disappointed. The food tasted as though there was special attention paid to detail which is often not the case in chain restaurants and was quite refreshing. The service was good and it was an overall pleasant experience. I look forward to going back soon.

Food was great with a good portion of chips and onion rings. Only negative I had was, the food took more than a half hour. That would of been fine if the restaurant was busy, but there were a handful of people.

This is my favourite spur because of their fantastic onion rings. Their service is great but can be improved when it comes to checking up on customers since it took a while for our waiter to finally bring us the bill. Food is great and made a lot better at this franchise

First review I have ever written online, as I thought I had a duty to warn others to stay clear of this place.I have been to this Spur twice. The first time I had ribs, which turned out to be low quality spare ribs, full of sinew and grit. This would be fine if they were cheap but they were more expensive than a place like the Toad, where you get loin ribs. Really no value for money.The second time, my Fiance ordered a Char-grilled 200g rump steak. The steak that was served was not rump and wasnt char-grilled. It honestly looked like a minute steak from pick n pay. My Fiance refused to pay R120 for a minute steak, so we sent it back and she just went hungry.Really lead to an unpleasant evening and it is just so unnecessary.Why cant businesses just provide what they advertise?

Well done Spur for this wrist band! Childs name, parents phone number and the table number goes onto it so if the child wonders away from his/her table they will see/know where they belong.WELL DONE!

A six star service experience. From the get go, we received amazing service. A caring waiter made the evening a delight. Good food and drink that came quickly meant that it was one of my most pleasant evenings eating out in a long time.

Unexpected good service, some franchises are looking at customer service an customer respect and offering quality. Please keep up the good work, management should always be raising the bar about the company standard they stand for. Happy customers equals more clientele.

Spur is not amazing these days. Food is so average but extremely expensive?! No thank. I no long have a taste for that life.I realise more and more that parents are tired and hungry and will pay those prices for the kids to go live their best lives and spur is taking full advantage of this and not putting any effort into giving the average south african a decent meal at a decent price

I have eaten at almost every spur in the western cape but I must comment on how fantastic the food and service was last night at Newlands Spur. They give the chips and onion rings fresh and hot which not many spur franchises do. And Ive been at Newlands Spur on more than one occasion and this seems to be a good habit of theirs. Plus the ribs were very good. Whoever runs that kitchen ought to be commended on their excellent work.

Not really much for eating out but decided to brave the end of the month crowds and headed to our favorite(the only decent and clean) spur. As usual I was not disappointed .. the steak was done to absolute perfection and the crumbed mushrooms were divine!.Even though it was pretty full our waiter saw to it that I had my starter and mains in front of me within 10 mins after I told him I was extremely hungry (THANKS CHAD!!)Never disappointed when dining at the Golden Spur :)

Food was fresh service was average I suppose it was 15 minutes before closing time so was to be expected.

Ribs couldve been more tender, last baked potato and it was bad inside. Manager very apologetic.

Great place for kids as they have an indoor play area and someone to supervise and entertain the kids. Food is good value for money with great kiddies menu options, too.

The food was pretty average, and that was disappointing. I was happy to be bringing a brother whos never had an opportunity to eat out at spur. Ordered a large plate of ribs and a plate of half chicken. The ribs were average, the chicken was outright disappointing. Needless to say, my brother couldnt understand the excitement about spur.

Very disappointing- service standards have dropped significantly. The only reason why we continue going is due to the fact that our son loves the play area at the Newlands branch . Fool me once....The only times weve come here were because we had vouchers but it still wasnt worth the time and effort. Waited ages. Steak was pathetic. First my char-grilled rump was half fat and sinu. Second time it was basically an overcooked minute steak! R120 for that I had to return it and go hungry as i wasnt prepared to have a special order...

Such a bad breakfast experience this morning. ( 16/09/2018) so bad that even my waiter that introduced me to my table only came to me 3 times in a space of almost an hour. Of wich I requested a latte and nother latte without even been asked what I would like to eat. I left my name and number next to the money I left for the bill I did not ask for. Yet an unhappy customer that left there details has not been contacted by management and asked what the situation is. This coming from a customer that lives walking distance from the restaurant and would not recommend it to any of my college or friends

Fatastic. The coffee and food is always fresh and tasty and the service is right up there. We even drive from Constantia to Newlands to rather eat consistently tasty food. Thank you for the great service and food.

Was there on the 26th april was my sons birthday the food was poor the ribs was noy nice at all the food was salty

Melody is not new but the service we received on Saturday, 27 April has been very bad. We spoke about the bad service and have seen other customers that took their orde as a takeaway as Melody was nowhere to be seen.

The staff are really great. Food is a bit lacklustre compared to other Spurs I visit. eg sauce in smaller quantities; chips not crisp; malva pudding a bit on the rubbery side and not really hot right through; rather lumpy butternut. If the food was as good as the staff youd have a winner!

Havent been there in years and were excited to go because I always had a wonderful experience there, however my experience on Sat, 11th Aug were very disappointing - they were painting the wall near our table while we were eating and the ladies toilet didnt flush. I get that youre saving water, but rather switch off the tap and use hand sanitizer. Its unhygienic and dangerous to use a public toilet where the toilet do not flush

Loved my visit there and the meal was great.

Ideal for family. I had a get together visit with friends. Theres no parking right there but it gives you an opportunity to observe the outside and get in some fresh air.

Food is always good. I still enjoy the ribs in this specific branch. The only downside is that the steaks arent great.

The service was slow and when the coffee arrived it was cold and so was the milk, after asking for hot milk.The food was not up to standard. This was on a Sunday, late morning, the place was empty so no excuses. I am afraid that I will not return to this spur.!

This is our regular Spur. And as with most Spurs the food quality and service is up and down. My kids enjoy the play area and, I suppose, thats what counts most sometimes.
