Unfortunately The Country Kitchen did not live up to expectations. Any other option in Franschhoek is a better option.Poor food and poor management staff could not be vindicated by the excellent wait staff.Prawn pasta had 7 shrimp that were microscopic and over fried and tasteless.A lovely setting but overall it has many better alternatives in Franschhoek.

Perfect service despite being really busy. On top of that, delicious food and good wine with stunning views of the surrounding mountains if you sit outside or warm and cosy fire going if you sit inside. I strongly recommend the citrus baked cheesecake

Situated on Mont Rochelle Vineyard so pleasantly off the main center of Franschhoek. The calamari starter was so good I had it the two days we went. The line fish and the steak on the second day as mains were also excellent. Add really pleasant service and you have a winning formula.

Stylish spot on beautiful farm ,friendly welcoming staff .Would definitely go again . Entrance, lower level and parking to the country kitchen itself can be improved.

Excellent food and friendly service...

The setting is incredible and their pretzel breads are mouth-watering! Will definately be back and arrange a small party there - great for 20 - 30pax taking over the outside seating area, secluded with amazing views of the vineyards.

Romantic and cosy picnic at the dam

With an amazing view over the surrounding mountains, this is another great place to have a bite or a picnic with a partner. The restaurant offers a selection of fine dishes along with wines from local farms in the area. The picnic spots are perfectly located for summer or winter occasions as there are plenty of shade or open sunny grass spots to enjoy the basket of joy.

We had an amazing reception from Simone who immediately made us feel welcome, she constantly checked on us to made we were well looked after. Douglas, our waiter was attentive and he made briljant suggestions when it came to ordering our food. Overall a pleasant experience!

We did not get what we ordered. Steak was send back and returned in the same (raw) way. The views was spectacular.

Great food and views. The waiter was friendly and professional. We went for the 6 wine flight taster menu and had the 3 white wines with out starters and the 3 red wines with our mains. We had Camembert, ostrich carpacccio and chicken wings for starters followed by the beef tacos, cob fish of the day and the burger for our mains ;-)

Great setting here to complement the good food. We joined for lunch here and had the platters for two which were tasty as well as generous. The service is professional and friendly. The views are amazing.

A very disappointing pasta dish, described as Garlic Fried Prawns Pasta, tossed in a creamy parmasan sauce, topped with pan fried prawns, except that there were no prawns. Not even shrimps, only about four morsels of maybe prawn meat. For R170? If the restaurant did not have the ingredients, why not inform us???

Lovely shared platter and bottle if Sauvignon blanc at lunchtime today. Shame about the strong wind and acorns shooting at us from the surrounding trees!

I took my girlfriend here for a anniversary lunch and what a experience it was!Firstly their booking system is online which is awesome, once you book you recieve a sms and e-mail as confirmation. This eliminates the inner urge to call in to confirm that its actually booked.When the lady called me (Yes they called me) to confirm dietary requirements I was beyond amazed!! I mentioned to her thats its out anniversary.Apon arrival I recieved exactly what I requested, a seat with a beautiful view. They had 2 options available inside and outside.To top this all off because it was our special day they gave us both a glass of wine of our choosing in the house.The attention to detail that the staff have is amazing, its these things that make clients come back. Their food is amazing but a little pricey. BUT YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!Thank you for the great experience!

The food was OK not amazing but the pricing was about right. Great atmosphere as expected in this region and wine was delicious. You can get better food somewhere else but for much higher prices. Overall a pleasant experience.

Stunning ! Delicious picnic food and a beautiful setting. My family and I loved it !

Food was good and accommodated food allergies. But the crowd was inappropriate for the amount of money I was paying for my food. The behaviour of some guests was deplorable to say the least and the waiters enabled that behaviour. I felt like I was sitting in a bar not a restaurant.

The restuarant offers a relaxed setting, with snacks and meals ranging from festive build it yourself platters to burgers.A good option for lunch on the wine tram tours.

We felt welcome from the moment we entered the door by the friendly staff that offered good serviceThe 2 or 3 course lunch was well worth it. The veiw from the window seat and the lit fire added to the atmosphere for an enjoyable lunch.

Views were amazing, but food could have been better. We had a selection of mains and were not impressed. However, what the food lacked, the wine and hospitality rescued.

Fantastic views and amazing service from the restaurant manager and Douglas, our waiter. The Miko White was very good. Enjoyed the ribs as well. Highly recommend.

The venue has a great setting unfortunately this is where it ended. The food left much to be desired, the rib portion is large but dry, the burgers on the mediocre side at R380 and R175 respectively. Service was exceptional, food needs attention.

Lovely venue but I wouldn’t visit for the food. It’s sub par for the quality you can get for the price in the region. Bread was stale and the main was not of the quality I associate with anything in Franschoek. They do offer picnics and wine, which we didn’t do, but I’d rather give that a try over the lunch if you do choose to go here.

The views are lvly as in most places in thus valley, the staff well trained n helpful (the restaurant was not full though) n the food was good n well presented BUT we were unhappy with the wine prices, specially at a wine estate. If a bottle of Chardonnay cost 105 over the counter it is unreasonable to charge 75 f or a glass or 220 to put a bottle on the table . We understand about extra charges due to seating but that left a bad taste in my mouth that spoiled the good taste of the food .

Lovely food, great service and a fabulous view!

We ordered 3 different starters of which 2 were poor eg tasteless deep fried camembert from Fairview which was barely warmed up let alone deep fried. Get a tasty cheese not some bland version of one of the tastiest cheeses in the world! Oh and cook it! Then chicken wings......how can you do this wrong? Well you pre cook them and warm them in a microwave until they are tough then slather them in a creamy sauce so you get soggy tough wings! They are a finger food......dont bathe them in cheesy slime!! However the Zucchini fritters did taste delicious and freshly made!The wines were bland and overpriced and the only 2 good ones were not available by the glass. Can Mr Branson not afford an Enoteca system or equivalent?Staff were lovely and friendly but clearly had no personal knowledge of the food as probably never given the chance to eat it! Overall about the standard of an average english pub. Avoid if in Franschhoek as much better can be had nearby.

This year, however, we noticed that the restaurant has experienced an upgrate.The food was outstanding, the wine, a dream! The service of Natania incredibly personal, efficient running.A must for anyone looking for a lunch in Franschhoek.
