After an incredible experience at the spa, we had a delightful lunch on the deck. The service was impeccable. The food delectable, really the best I had on the entire trip. The set menu with some tasting is worth every cent you pay. The food was tasty and every single element put on the plate serves a purpose and tastes delicious. Ill be back!

Another Franschhoek winner. Le chêne offers fine dining in an exquisite setting on Leeu Estates, close to the town center.Sophisticated meals accompanied with a local selection of fine wines are completed with magical views.Lose time at a magical venue. If going for dinner try arrive early to enjoy the views.

Le Chêne Restaurant is the definition of French cuisine at its absolute finest. A true testimony of why Franschhoek is the culinary capital.Everything is on point: top service, exquisite dishes, panoramic view, well maintained gardens, amazing pieces of arts, beautiful vineyards...It deserves 10 stars, 5 stars are not enough.I will definitely make it a regular food outing!

Leeu experience was subpar, as we were told to park in overflow parking and a shuttle would collect us, but after waiting, it didnt come and so we had to walk a good distance, in very cold weather, dressed for a nice night out. This consequently made us 15+mins late for our reservation. We had wanted to do the 7 course tasting, but were told we couldnt. Wondering why that wasnt conveyed via email earlier than being told after we sat down? Admittedly, we were late, but not sure that amount of time was the difference between eating 7 courses and the 3 we actually consumed. Given curfew protocols and expectations, that is an obvious necessity, but again, could be better communicated. The food- okay. nothing was bad, but nothing was memorable. The wine pairing was fine and so was the service. Nothing bad to complain about, but it just didnt have a fine-dine feel. Definitely good, just not great. The sommelier was friendly and excited about his food. One drink paired with the chocolate dessert was spot-on and added to the dish, where as the wine paired with the honey felt a bit too sweet paired with an overly sweet dessert. He was keen to hear a suggestion and excited that we enjoyed the other wines, which were a fun selection.

Amazing views, beautiful relaxed atmosphere.Affordable price. Booking was done with dineplan - quick and easy.Hake and honey dessert were out of this world!!!Lamb was soft, beautifully served, but had bitter aftertaste. People at the table next to us also didnt enjoy it.Berry dessert is delicious, beautiful, but tiny and if you feel like more sweetness rather go for honey dessert.Great coffee.Wines are amazing , especially stunning dessert wine - not to be missed!!!

I booked a lunch at Le Chene as a present for my husband. After getting the reservation confirmation by Dineplan, I got another mail with deposit 400ZAR instructions. I transferred the money the same day to the given account at FNB.Today, the day of reservation, I got 2 mails to confirm my reservation, and 2 SMS which I should confirm also. Two hours before the reservation I got a phone call, whether we are coming. I told them, if 2 mails and 2 SMS are not sufficient. They said, they havent got the deposit, which I transferred from the account of my husband on 23.12.19. So I had a look in his Nedbank account to verify. And for sure it was transferred! So I called the restaurant to tell them, that it left our account, no one knew about it, no one called back.So we arrived there, got our table and had a nice 3 course lunch. The food was delicious.Getting the invoice, I was surprised, that the deposit was not deducted, so I called the manager. She said, she could not find our deposit. I showed her the transaction from my phone.Nothing happened.....after a while my Nedbank card was taken....we paid the amount mit 400 ZAR deduction. No one showed up again. This was the first and the last time at Le Chene!A beautiful lunch destroyed by people who are really not professional!!!Next time we have lunch at Reubens again, wonderful food with excellent very friendly service, no deposit, no hassle! They never learn it in South Africa!
