The setting is tranquil over looking the herb and veggie garden. We had the set course lunch which had bold and daring combinations. The price was reasonable considering the location and service. Oh yes, the service was excellent.A convenient service was the option to wine taste the Boschendal wines while enjoying lunch. We have two kids under 3 and the restaurant is not the most child friendly setting, particularly if the restaurant is full.

Great culinary experience. Located within a stunning backdrop, this restaurant offer a great menu, unless you are vegetarian which we felt not very accommodating or the staff knew what to do or say when asked. Although the starters were vegetarian, do not expect a vegetarian menu or main. The rest of the menu was absolutely delicious. I will never be able to eat pig again after trying their dish! Absolutely perfect. Dishes were rich in flavor and beautifully decorated/presented. Try to avoid a really hot day cause could be rather uncomfortable. We were looking forward their chicken dish but was not available despite being mentioned on the online menu. They also got me the wrong desert but at this point with the heat, we just wanted to leave and I still managed to enjoy the dessert given. Highly recommended.

Mostly a really nice meal. The food was excellent and came out very timorously, but the service was chaotic and all over the place (i.e. had to ask for a something 3 times, and eventually 2 arrived from different people). It was a freezing but sunny day. We chose to sit inside as there was a fire place, but realised this was a poor decision on our part as the fire hadnt been lit and the doors were wide open. Overall good, but think service and customer comfort need to be considered further

We have been to the Werf Restaurant on more than one occasion and each time our meals have had excessive salt on every food item, including the butter. Asked why there is so much salt on each meal served, we are consistently told, thats just the way meals are served here to avoid providing salt and pepper at the tables. The chef needs to review their obsession with salt, please. We happen to enjoy the overall scenery and general experience and would like to visit again in future.

Perfect choice for a light lunch that pleases the taste buds. Best to be a group of 4 or more, you just have to taste more than ons dish (sharing is caring). I recommend as least the Ox Heart, Angus Beef and Yellow Tail servings complemented with the Potato Gratin and Aubergine sides. Some Boschendal wine would have completed the experience - pity where in lockdown (adjusted level 3).Dont forget the Lemon Tart 😋

Food: 4/5Aesthetics and Ambiance: 5/5Service: 5/5Price: $$$$/ $$$$$FOOD:The Werf restaurant offers an amazing soil-to-fork dinning experience has earned it the 2018 @eatoutguide and @woolworths_sa sustaiablility award. 90% of the food used in the menu is grown and cultivated on the farm; this makes the food ethically sourced, super fresh and organic. I tried every plate on the menu. The mains were very flavourful, delicious and homely. My favourite was the pork belly, the Lamb Soutribbetjie which was so tender, it fell apart without even using a knife. The desserts were my favourite tasting experience. The plum Eaton mess surprised me the most- how a dessert could come together so beautifully with herbs and spices that are usually not used in desserts- thyme and rosemary.AESTHETICS AND AMBIANCE:The Werd has a beautiful and light contemporary aesthetic that becomes warm, wooden and quirky-modern-vintage as you move from the outside, inside. The restaurant overlooks the gardens where the fruits and vegetables are grown and has a beautiful view of the wineland mountains and scenery.SERVICE:The service was outstanding! Our waitress made great recommendations, was tentative and super informative. She was fun, friendly but professional. We also ordered some bottles of wine, and the lady that helped us from the cellar was super helpful in sourcing certain vintages and made insightful and knowledge recommendations.

I am giving them 1 star only because of the pizza stall, boschendal overall is a nice experience however the pizza stall at the night market as a black person is something else. Weve had to fight for service multiple occasions, its annoying that we queue with everyone for service and when its our turn suddenly the staff have to do administrative work.

Fantastic restaurant and vineyard, with lovely food and a farm to table vibe.Wine is very well priced for the quality, and the waiter was very helpful with his knowledge and more than happy for us to sample some before we ordered a glass or bottle. The Chardonnays were a particular favourite of mine.Food was accommodating for all dietary requirements (we had vegan, pescatarian, GF) and was delightful. The setting is just so beautiful and relaxing - the veggie garden is brilliant, reflected in the quality of the food. I cant recommend a visit to here enough, especially if youre a tourist to the area.We visited as a group on a lovely sunny day in Feb, on route to a friends wedding.

Their Long Sunday Lunch is an absolute treat! I would definitely recommend the bottomless Bubbly option. The food, service and views are for the books and we literally spent 4 hours enjoying every single morsel. They also have live music whith the Long Sunday Lunch which makes it an extra special and memorable experience. They also serve a delicious Old Fashioned the old fashion way!

If you can afford a meal here, it will blow you away. A culinary adventure in the superb class, the restaurant overlooking a herb garden from which fresh ingredients for dishes come. It is even vegan friendly. We booked beforehand to hear what was on offer and were pleasantly surprised. We could do a full three course vegan lunch, and stayed the afternoon. Afterwards we met the chef congratulating him for the festival of tastes he prepared. Highly recommended.

Hi Guys. I have to commend The Werf restaurant 🍴 at Boschendal Estate in Franschoek. I had made a reservation for a client which somehow got complicated (December is a rough month for all service delivery businesses), but they came to the party, apologized for any inconvenience and proceeded to host my client. He was super impressed and very happy 😊 I always believe nomatter what the situation, how you treat the client is the most important aspect for your business. Ill definitely be using these professionals again 🥉

Cute place, though service was neglectful at times. Hostess kept checking on our table to verify that server had walked us through the wine list — he never did and she ended up doing it herself. Why couldn’t we just have that level of service from our actual waiter? Undermined the incredible views and food.
