Pleasant experience. Excellent service. The food was good as well as price. Beautiful view over False Bay

This location is stunning, we had a wonderful experience. The service/staff was excellent, food was delicious and the ambiance made for an even more pleasant experience. I would highly recommend it and would be coming back soon.

I found the venue quiet, but, in all fairness, I visited the restaurant on a particularly cold, wet Western Cape lackluster afternoon.The view over Muizenberg Beach and Surfers Corner is superb.Our waiter spoke a perfect English, he was unobtrusively attentive and subtly empathetic as he became aware of my dilemma with a problem guest.The meal of salmon and grilled vegetables was well prepared and beautifully plated.Thank you.

Nice laid back easy atmosphere.... Just one issue the people in the kitchen had no head nets/caps on when preparing the food. Can you please look into that please. But nice for a good meal and relaxing time

Platter for 2 is a must if you planning on taking a date. Food was served extremely fast. Always my good to, even though I live closer to another branch. Ill rather take the ride because its worth it.

Only giving three stars based on my last visit but willing to review, we went on the 01/10/2021 on a recommendation of a friend, when we arrived we were greated with a beautiful staircase where my partner insisted we take pictures leading up to the venue,We were greeted in a friendly respectful manner and did the now normal covid check-in procedure.We were seated but the first dissapointed was that the class facing the sea was a bit dirty so we couldnt really get a great view outside of the venue (the actual reason we went).As with any Ocean Basket within minutes we were presented with our bread and assortment of sauces which is a staple for any ocean Basket, we placed our drinks orders and food orders at the same time (can never go wrong with Platter for two).Our drinks arrived and with the amount of people in the venue I thought we would have a waiting time for our meal but it arrived quickly.As always food was up to the high standards of Ocean Basket and really enjoyable, however...On this one particular visit there was what looked to be a company function as well, I couldnt find it in my heart to complain about a group being extra loud as they seemed to be enjoying their time out of office, this has nothing to do with the service at the restaurant but we rushed our meal as the noise was a tad bit overwhelming.Hence me saying Im only giving three stars based on this one visit I had but will visit again in the future hoping the view is much better (clean windows) and less noiser crowd

Ocean Basket Muizenberg is amazing. The restaurant have a beautiful view of the ocean. The food was good and the wait was not long. Place is very neat and clean.

Hake and chips half price. Not sure how long the special will last. Was delicious as usual. The manager is pleasant and helpful. Beautiful view of Muizenberg beach and patrons. Lots of activity, crazy watching law enforcement ticketing left right and centre and other crazy people, loads of surfers dot the surfline. Nice spot to see the snow topped Hottentots Holland mountains this time of the year. Lovely venue. Missed the wine though!

A very nice OB all the table seating area have a sea view. The place was nice and clean including the gents toilet. Due to COVID-19 not all the table’s are use , protocols are being followed. The food was nice and fresh and well presented. I will definitely visit this branch again with this spectacular views. For our folks with disability there is no wheelchair accessibility (no lifts)

Had a great meal, great service all at a reasonable price. View is great. The restaurant is very open and airy and tables are well spaced. Really enjoyed it.

After placing our orders, I received a meal I never ordered the manager decided to change my order without informing me. My partner recieved her meal but the sauce on her fish had rice in it. When approaching the manager with it all she said was that the rice was probably on the spoon that they used.We made it clear that we were not happy but sympathy was shown from the manager. We then decided to leave instead before the night got any worse.Manager insisted that we pay for the beverages even though we never touched it and the sushi which I took as a take away instead.Paid the bill, left but then realized that they gave us incorrect change. Had to go back to inform the manager that help us (Heine) and another female manager, all she said was oh I forgot I still owe u a R100.Even with the bad experience (Heine) the manager has the odacity to tell me that he will take a picture of me and report it to the police. Like is this really the way to treat customers thats having an unpleasant experience now a days.Ocean Basket has quite a good reputation but this one at Muizenberg will not see me again.

Hi I love Ocean Basket..and so does my mom.. Those stairs are a real struggle for her as shes semi blind and 84years old.How do I get her up there?A lift would be a idea for the wheelchairs and elderly.Lois

Somehow the portion size compared to other Ocean Baskets for their Full Deck platter is waaay more!! Fed my whole family and still some food left over! Excellent flavour, hospitality and setting!!! Love it, my favourite OB for sure!

The Service is remarkable and the view is really the best part of us being there but I took a star down due to seating constraints and portion size, I could eat a platter for 2. We are happy and hope the next visit will be 5/5.

We ordered the smoked mussel soup as a starter,it was nothing as the menu suggested,it was far from creamy and instead very watery & not tasty at all.When it came to ordering the mains,we ordered the platter for two and were told that there were only 4 mussels left.When we asked if we can add more prawns to make up for the short mussels,the manager couldnt accommodate us.the whole experience was really disappointing except for the waiter who was really nice but unfortunately could not do much to save the ship.we had no choice but to leave after our starter and go elsewhere.Thankfully there were a lot of other restaurants to choose from around.

This restaurant has stunning views of the ocean its breath taking. Service is average and seating is first come first served. All seafood menu is regular Ocean Basket standard.

I just find lately that Ocean Basket in general has such poor service for over priced food.. Plumstead probably just the saddest of the bunch it should have stayed closed

This place is absolutely ridiculous. Instead of making customers feel welcome we were left to wait at a locked door until the waiter slash manager let us in to refuse us seating arrangements which is unacceptable. Not being allowed to sit at the window because its reserved for bigger groups that may pass instead of saying no problem lets sort out our customers we where happily sent else where

I was quite apprehensive about going to this OB. Had some pretty disappointing experiences at other branches but extremely delighted to say this OB was a hit. Besides the great setting on muizenburg beach, the view of the ocean from my table was amazing. The restaurant is based on the top floor which made for spectacular sea views. And to match the fantastic views was the really fresh, tender and really tasty meals. I had the royal kingklip with 3 prawns in a tomatoe garlic sauce with half chips and half rice - fish was firm, well seasoned and cooked, chips was perfectly fried and crispy, rice really tasty and flavorful and all in all, an absolutely delicious dish. My wife had calamari and chips and my son had fish and calamari combo. Both absolutely raved about the food. They have really raised the benchmark for other OB branches and definitely one i will gladly visit again.

We visited Ocean Basket Muizenberg last night. We were 10 people in the party. For a few of us its was our first time visiting the restaurant.I have to say from the hostess who welcomed us at the door on arrival, running through all the protocols, till when we left at the end of the evening. We have to commend the team for an overall great service.We had a variety of food platters and have to say it was cooked to perfection, great quality, delicious and tasty. The waiter and manager checked in at random with us to make sure we good. Yes we were good and enjoyed the overall experience.Thanks for a great service. Keep it up. The whole team deserve a thanks and job well done.We will definitely come again.

Service was great! The headwaitress/manager was on the ball. She quickly disciplined the waiters. The food was warm when it came out, and the view was spectacular!

Extremely dissappointed with their service. Pointed out an issue to a waiter who said he was going to fetch the manager to sort it out & never came back. Had to move tables because of an issue with a faulty window being blown open in the wind. The waiter that eventually assisted when I called wasnt very curtious. A female employee showed more enthiasm. Eventually turned out to be a very unplesant expirience. I certainly hope that they get that window repaired & enroll their staff on a customer care handling course.

We ordered take-aways. The restaurant staff were friendly and efficient. The silver lined take-away boxes kept our food warm and prevented the food from having a cardboard taste.The view from the restaurant across the Muizenberg Bay is superb.

Reay enjoyed, my evening there. Service from waiter was excellent. Not to over bearing. The food was good, had the platted for two, the mussels could do with slightly more creamy sauce, but thats a personal preference. Id recommend it, nice views. Overall a good experience.

Spacious, friendly and efficient Service. Very relaxed atmosphere. The perfect surroundings for summer, however winter would be of concern, as the draughts that comes through the entrance doors, are quite cold. A suggestion for a double door system to be implemented, that way the coldness is curbed on a lower level than having it on the top entrance. Making it a perfect winter gathering place with friends and family.

After a day at the beach youd expect that a place like ocean basket could deliver a decent meal and friendly service. All that i was met with when i went was an insult and bland tasting food. naturally i didnt have high hopes when it came to the food but i at least expected some decent service. i was willing to cut them some slack as i cant imagine it easy to run a restaurant during these times but the treatment i received from my waiter, Julian, was terrible. when we ordered our drinks i was told that if i order booze i would have to show my ID, i was then insulted and told that his facial hair only grew like mine when he was 13, insinuating that i was 13. i found this deeply disrespectful and unnecessary as i didnt even order alcohol. above that the food was bland and rubbery. Julian came to our table over 10 times and was seen running through the restaurant which is terrible server etiquette. The manager was a lovely woman and i could see my experience being mildly decent if she served us but all in all i struggled to sit in that restaurant. If you want to eat seafood that doesnt taste like seafood Id recommend Ocean Basket. If youre looking for a good meal then please go to any of the other lovely restaurants in and around surfers corner. 3/10

Disappointing service.Been here before and had no issues.Last night was a different story.Waited long to be seated.Waiter couldnt care less about our table but attended to his other tables which seemed more important.He did not clear table in between meals.Other staff were serving us our meals.Waited long for our meals and drinks every time.We would see our food standing ready and he would walk past it once again not bothered with our table.Very disappointed. The management was informed and was sincere about it but I surely hope that the issues are attended to as no customer is more important than the other. I pay lots of money for the food and for the experience which is very important with customer service.

Always great to go there they welcome us with a smile and ensure we get the best treatment

Fastest and friendliest staff I have ever seen. Aaliyah was a delight to interact with. Recently opened just next to the beach, has beautiful view of the sunset. Delicious food. We tried the ocean maze platter which was enough for two people and had a wonderful time their. So went their straight for 5 days for the dinner and loved the place. Definitely coming back when in Cape Town

Wanted to end off with a hot beverage to warm up after a walk at the beach. However, service was very disappointing. Restaurant was not full at all.Ordered 3 *HOT* Hot Chocolates. Requested that it be very hot, after quite a long wait, it arrived luke warm..... Fortunately the mananger passed by as waiter wasnt in sight. He reheated it in the microwave 🙄Then after another lengthy wait enquired about our food, to be told order wasnt placed.How sad is that, especially in these times when business is so strained.Bad service. 🤔

This Ocean Basket replaces Live Bait which closed on this site. They had a lot to live up to and they have done that! The most delicious grilled calamari and grilled hake that could not be better. Well done Ocean Basket you had big shoes to fill and you have done that. Many congratulations.

The food was nice but there was something wrong with the coffee, they brought me three different cups of coffee but still didnt taste nice

Best Sushi ever. You have to try it. Best experience ever. The staff is nice and friendly. Went surfing and had lunch with some of my friends from Germany and England. We had the best time ever.

Definitely wont recommend anyone to try out this ocean basket! They say the first impression is always make or break. On my first visit to this branch in Muizenberg I must say Im extremely disappointed. I wanted to stick to the usual branches such as tygervalley, capegate, Canal Walk etc, but decided to take a drive in a different direction only to be disappointed with COLD food!!!! Who wants cold rice on a Sunday afternoon for lunch? The fish lol catch of last month perhaps?. I could go on and on to make things worse after dishing and finding out the food was cold the manager decides to rehEAt the exact same food like really now? Any way you definitely wont ever see me or any of my friends and family again thats for sure. The waiter was more apologetic then the manager.

Visited OB Muizenberg yesterday. Food excellent and fresh. Ordered Platter for 2 and Sushi. Both excellent. Waiter very busy, many patrons, few waiters due to Covid protocols. Good experience, will recommend OB Muizenberg with pleasure.

My meal last week was Monday was heavily complimented by the service I received by my waiter, first impressions are a game changer in a shop. And a vibrant waiter like Julian leaves an impression that will stay with me for years to come. His name was the first and his service only showed excellence of a top tier waiter. Worthy of a shop that serves meals for anyone and any event.

A beautiful place with such loving people

I ordered a platter to the value of R466.00. It looked as if everything was thrown into the box. The sauce was not even put into a separate container but was all over the rice. Further more, I ordered half rice and half chips. Half of the take away box was rice and I had a few chips. My experience was not a pleasant one.

Good food . But no back up during load shedding .1 gets hungry

Well, besides choosing to go to beach front for sundowner on a beautiful winters evening, the views are spectacular, the attention from manageress and waitron good. Had sushi, salmon salad, mussel soup ... all ok but soup was distasteful, like veg stock with a few mussels tossed in urgh!I am curious at empty restaurant with super loud almost taxi music, and are you trying to be a Spur with loud birthday singing to an adult only table? Mind blowing and a sad deterrent!

What a disappointing meal this evening.... my calamari tasted like nothing, Zucchini in Panko was just batter...... luckily my husbands fish and calamari combo was good..... waiter was pleasant but our dirty plates were still on the table when we left!

Highly surprised by the professionalism and general demeanor of staff. Compliments for food well prepared and very delicious. Highly recommended.

Had a lovely, comfortable family dinner. All patrons were socially distanced, sanitizer at the entrance and waiters wore masks. Food arrived quickly and was very tasty. Our waiter Julian was fantastic - attentive and friendly. Thanks for having us!

I had eaten there a few weeks ago before the president, delivered his address. My visit there was more than satisfactory and the food was only overshadowed by the service I had received by the waiter with red hair. Not only did he have a suggestion on my meal for my family and I, he also gave us a heads up on the calamari change. 10/10 would again when the situation is easier for travel and hospitality.

We went in on a whim and Im so glad we did. The vibe was fun without being overbearing, the staff was fantastic and the food was yum.My sister and I interacted with Aaliyah and Wayne, both of whom were friendly and immediately welcoming. Were definitely going back for more awesomeness!

Would definitely recommend it, nice view, good food and great service👍🏼 we went a tad earlier for an early lunch, which worked out perfectly, the queue to enter was rather long as we were leaving which was around 13:30 or so.

I genuinely feel bad for those who spend their hard earned money on treating themselves or their families to a dinner out, only to have a below average experience at what should be a notorious franchise like OB.I stood at the entrance alone for almost 10 minutes waiting to be seated, catching the attention of a waitress who told me to wait, while she served two more tables and took them drinks. I ended up walking up to the point of sale where the staff were fighting with management, telling them I would just find my own table.At the front of the restaurant to the back, nearly every table had chairs in disarray, the restaurant was very empty and many tables still had dishes on, they were not cleaned and the staff was unattentive.My first waiter told me that he could not take my drinks order because he needed to cool down after arguing with management. So I waited for another.It was 8 pm and one of the prime seating areas with cushioned seats along the wall was being used by management as a work station, with laptops out and their desks set up. This is not the type of dining experience that patrons want to leave work from to now arrive at what looks like an inner city co work space because they cant find something out of the way during the rush hour dinner service.If the waitresses and waiters are unable to handle the job of clearing and cleaning tables, then they need to hire a runner.I ordered prawns, and had to wait for my waiter to carry on serving tables until my sauce came. I had to wait again for the condiments as nothing was on the table or pre set when I placed my order.My general point is that there was very little attention to presentation, to a clean and neat environment, to cleanliness and how to offer a better quality of service.As a person who had over 15 years in the bar and restaurant industry, I know when something is shoddy and when it is worthy of a good review. It was a cold and uncomfortable experience and in future I will rather go to Tigers Milk where food is affordable and the experience and service is excellent.

My son ordered bite of the ocean for me frim Muizenberg Ocean basket via Ubereats. The food came with one prawn instead of 3 a small portion of calamari.My concerns are1. The box which food was delivered had no seal at all2. The pastic bag also had no seal.I spoke to the manager who gave me a version of thinking that the Ubereats guy atethe a portion of the food. (It can be one of their staff because there was no seal.)3. The World is facing a pandemic of covid 19. If there was a seal on the food surely if the guy is the one who ate there was no way he could open.4. I had to throw away the food because it was unhygienic to receive food without a seal and missing portions.I was very disappointed. This issue of not sealing food must be taken so seriously as it exposes customers to eating unhygienic food which is a health risk.

The manager seemed new and was appologetic.My family and I have enjoyed many an Ocean Basket in verious locations, but this branch was the biggest of let down.The table was dirty with previous food, the windows were smudged with hands prints, floors not the cleanest, but the one decisive factor, the food was terrible.My prince platter was cold, espically the rice. I asked the waiter to flash it under the salamander, it was still cold when returned. I requested everything grilled yet the baby calamari tenticals were fried. The rest of the items were grossly overcooked for a frozen item, yet still cold when served. The lemon butter sauce was emulsified with margarine, which had split. It could of easily been fixed with a cornstarch slurry.These errors are basic faults in cooking and not excusable especially when there are only 4 tables in the whole restaurant.You have totally lost my loyalty. Fix your galley or fail to meet expectations.
