Slug and Lettuce Newlands has closed down sadly. The new place is open and called Rock Star diner. It is worth a try!

BEST TEQUILA SUNRISE IN CAPE TOWN. Was super chuffed. Had such a boring bland cocktail round the block then came to slug and lettuce not expecting much but it was absolutely delicious for HALF the price i paid at the other place. Lady who served us was a darling and food was good. Great value for money, highly recommend & will definitely be back

Very pleasant restaurant, good food and helpful staff and management!!Unfortunately it looks like this restaurant has closed down.Possibly because they have been unable to pay their rent.If that were to be true, that would have been very sad and a bit more compassion from the landlord would not have been misplaced.I sincerely hope I am wrong, if not then perhaps the saying, what goes around, comes around!! , could apply.

Visited this place for 1 beer before going for the SAB Tour across the road. Perfectly situated to do so. Place looks quite vibey with a decent menu attached.

Rustic, no frills Slug and Lettuce with friendly staff and decent food and drinks. Parking is a MAJOR hassle, and noise from Main Road and the intersection can be deafening. If you dont mind parking down some rather dodgy side streets and watching folks dicing on main road, a nice place.

Watched the Manchester derby there. Positive vibes everywhere. Great to enjoy a game of football with rival fans at a calm location.May need a couple of extra chairs when it gets packed. Could do with a few gas heaters outside when winter arrives. Perfect place to have a good drink with the lads though. Enjoyed it

Great burgers, and service, beers are always cold and staff go out of their way to help you. good music and atmosphere. Has a great little deck overlooking a forest and stream, great to sit on and enjoy a cold beer on a sunny day.

The venue is decent, a typical Newlands pub. They offer all typical beverages, the staff are friendly and the bar area is neat. I would suggest having a craft beer and some of their foods available!

Worst dining experience Ive ever had. Took forever for the waiter to take our order, even though our menus were down for at least 15 minutes. From the time we ordered, to when we decided to just pay for drinks and leave, it took 1h15min - for 2 simple burgers.The restaurant was completely packed, inside and out, and there were at most 3 waiters trying to keep everyone happy. There were multiple drunk, shirtless patrons, left to be loud and bang their hands on the ceiling fans for fun.When we finally indicated to the waiter, that we would just be paying for drinks, and no longer wanted food, he had the audacity to tell us that we were being rude, because it was obviously busy.Whoever runs this place is a complete fool to think that people are going to be happy waiting 1h30+ for 2 burgers, watching 3 headless staff run around unable to even bring a bill in 5 minutes, and finally being told that they are being rude.What a completely useless, waste of an evening out. I went from a big fan, to actively advising people avoid the place, in one foul swoop. Make sure you avoid this place like your life depends on it.

Great local bar with drink and food specials on different nights. The venue has a good outside deck overlooking the river and most importantly they serve the coldest beer on tap.

I actually read a review about this establishment a couple of months ago. I made a mental note of places to go to. When my neighbour wanted to watch the game I suggested this place. We watched two of the world cup rugby matches there. I couldnt watch the final as I was working, but my heart was there.My experience:I loved the atmosphere. I am sure it would have been off the charts when the Bokke won.I loved our waitress. I loved the chicken strips and chicken schnitzel. Their chips are amazing. The host is amusing. I asked him if he had a haircut, since the last time. He said he did some load shedding. Vrek funny!!I cant stop thinking about the schnitzel on creamy mashed potatoes, roast veg, and dreamy mushroom sauce. Mmmm I wish I could have that every day of the week!!Everyone goes there, young, old.They make a cocktail that tastes like the black sweet in fruity sweet packs. Mmmm.I do wish they had something sweet on the menu to round things off, like a pudding or dessert.Otherwise, its a lekker place. Mmmm still thinking about that schnitzel and mashed potatoes ...

Always a great place to stop by before a rugby game or just because. It has that old, english pub feel to it and yet its very modern. The food is nice, we particularly like their spring rolls and burgers. In winter their tomato and basil soup is a winner! If you dont mind the hustle and bustle of a eatery on the side of a main road, Slugg and Lettuce is definitely a place to visit. You might even bump into a local celebrity, like I did recently!
