We ordered take away. The food we did receive was delicious,however they forgot our rice, chips that we paid for. They also forgot our side salad and salmon salad. At least we didnt pay for it, but still disappointed as we ordered it.

Last year 30 November 2020 i had a bad experience there. Poor food and service. Yesterday i was there again upon recommendation by my daughter, and what a pleasant surprise. Exelent well prepared food and exelent service by waitress WENDY. Keep up the standard. Will definitely visit again. !!!!!

Ordered the platter of R585.00 yesterday morning @ 10:15 for 11:30 pick up. Johan who answered the phone was not very willing to assist at first. Told me they are only opening at 11:00. When I asked why he answered the phone then and why cant I place my order in the meantime he then reluctantly took the order. On our way to pick up a very friendly person Freddie called that our order will only be ready at 12 as the kitchen was experiencing some challenges. We did not have a problem with this. I arrived at the shop at 11:50 to check on our order. Freddie again very friendly and polite asked me to have a seat while he checks with the kitchen. A very rude and loud person who was doing the cooking started screaming and shouting at him. I then got upset about the way he was treating Freddie and said that I did not appreciate his tone and manner and that this behaviour is definitely not good for any business in these trying times. By the way Johan was standing by with his back to us all the time not saying a word. And i was not chasing anybody and was happy to wait for my order. So no reason for the gut in the kitchen to go off like that. By the way our order was then obly ready at 12:15! Quality of food was good. Lemon butter sauce not nice and tasty as always. Too salty and too little lemon.

We had a two way platter of sushi. The sushi was okay, not exactly as accurately cut and symmetrical as one expects but the ingredients were fresh. The overall experience was ruined by our waitress mostly who was really cold and was never around. We politely greeted her when we got in and she didnt respond. If she did it wasnt warm or loud enough to hear. We had send messages to her via the other waitor. She took forever to get the dirty dishes off the table.

The food is not bad but the food is not the problem. At times they mix up orders. I would not recommend them in terms of service. I cannot say my experience with them have been great.

I had Sunday lunch here. It was quiet with many seats available. The service was good. The play area seemed to keep the children busy enough. This helped and I will go here again when I want to go to an OB with children.

Service was extremely slow and we had to struggle to get our waitress attention.We asked for lemom butter sauce for my daughters rice and the waitress kept arguig that they made the rice in lemon butter sauce but it was tasteless and very dry. When she eventully brought the sauce, it was ice cold and when I asked of she could please just reheat it, she seemed very annoyed.We waited extremely long for our food and when she brought it, one of the dishes was not what we ordered. All the starters had chopped olives in it, even though the menu doesnt mention any olives.One of the worst Ocean Baskets ever!!!!!The only tasty dish was the Salmon and avo starter

Really below standard. Bad service sitting a long time before drink orders are taken. We had to ask to clean the table and take away the dirty dishes. Not offering anything extra. The place is looking dirty and uninviting. Food was okay but the Calamari was very dry. Toilets is not taken care of.

A nice family restaurant that a very serious about seafood. Very tasty and perfectly prepared your tastebuds will enjoy every meal. We had the famous fish and chips with a prawn top up. The hake (200g), prawns and delicious crispy chips is perfectly prepared with a lemon butter sauce. We had cola tonic with lemonade that compliments the dish.

Good for family outings and fun for lovers...very cosy with friendly staff easy to read with pics menu and alcoholic beverages also available..with option to pay cash,by card,tap and scan to pay via app.you can even have a candle light dinner outside under the moonlight..its even child friendly and offers the best affordable sea food in town

How dissapointed can one person be? I love ocean basket but this is the WORST of all the ocean baskets that i have EVER visited.Upon arrival we were not sanitized or asked to complete the log book. I would have done this myself but the sanitizer was missing from the holder and no pen to sign in.We walked into the restaurant and had to look for someone to seat us. The manager sat there by his laptop and called a waiter giving her a handsignal to seat us.Our waiter finally came and said they are only three waiters on duty he then apologised that we waited almost 20min just for menus. I asked if this was going to be an issue the whole night on? He assured us it would not be... Well it definetely was.1. Our bread rolls were stale and so hard.2. We sat outside and there were no lights anywhere, we litetally sat with the torches on our cellphones. I asked our waiter for a lamp or something, he said that he will light something, that never happened.3 The seafood platter was good - no complaints but the sushi was terrible, i cannot even describe it... Absolutely awfull, the rice was like rubber. The ginger was dry and the soya was like someone poured salt into it. The sushi was so dry and tasteless... Ugh it was really bad.4. We had to ask 3 times for an ash tray, never got one.5. We asked for all the food to served together, our sushi came 35minutes after the platter.6. All our sushi was not on the platters and we checked what we got and compared it to the platter on the menu. We were pieces short. We told our waiter and he informed the kitchen. Our waiter returned asking me to get out of my seat and go see the manager!!!!!! I told the waiter he must be joking. I asked the waiter why i should see the manager? The waiter advised that they dont believe him that the pieces were short so we have to go testify to that... I almost fell out of my chair. I asked the waiter to please tell the manager we would like to speak to him. We asked three times and the manager just never showed up. We were so disgusted we paid the bill and just left...What a terrible terrible experience.... I am not one to name and shame but this expererience will be shared where ever i can... Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and even local to friends and family... A R1000.00 WASTED...

Food is tasty and more than enough.

The place is a mess. Its very dirty. Outside is very dirty. Weeds growing al over the place. The windows at the main entrance is dirty. Play area is dirty,broken tables an chairs in the area. Not enough light outside to read the menu. Had to use our cellphone light to read. The bathrooms are disgusting, it stinks, no toilette paper. All of it is on the floor. Not the night i was expecting. Would never eat here again

By far the best Ocean Basket on the North side of the mountain in Pretoria.

We had a great time, with excellent food and a friendly waiter. Even during the lockdown period. The exterior might not look like much, but when it comes to the food and service they are at the top. I would recommend all to give them a try.

Only the chips was hot....The rest.......COLD....it was not nice.......for over R500 you would think the food should be ....HOT!!!!!

We were welcomed with warmth but after finding our way to our desired table we noticed that the table cloth was dirty. We sat down without notifying the waiter hoping he will notice but he just continued as is. We were served by a waitress who got our order right. The food was well prepared and we enjoyed it. The waitress never checked up on us during our meal and only came when we were done. We were not happy about this.

My previous experiences with this place were really pleasant,until yesterday. When I left my house I checked trading hours and it reflected as closes at 9PM Sunday,sure I get there to only be told they close at 8PM please rectify the trading hours on the internet,they should match with whats in store.What made the experience worse was how our dining was rushed,I ordered one drink and when I wanted the 2nd I was told they are closed,but they originally agreed to my 2nd drink.

Im highly disgusted at the treatment from this ocean basket. We went there with my husband for Valentines day. No starter bread was served. No sauces were served (we had to chase the waitress). They skipped our table when they were dishing out the lamps during load shedding (I find it racist). They said there are no chips but served us very little rice. When we were waiting for cutlery and asked the manager, she rudely told us to sit down and that they will eventually help us.I promise not to ever come back to this. I feel like what we paid for went to waste. Take note.

The food and service was superb. The restaurant itself was clean and neat.

The 3 way calamari is just too good. Staff are friendly and attentive. They are licensed and I think drinking is even encouraged. Was lucky enough to attend a Greek style birthday party at this establishment a while back and we got to smash plates, good fun.

The watrons dont even acknowledge you when you walk in, you have to walk towards them to get a table. Then you have to wait for them to come clean the tables 🙄 The service is really poor

Service was very efficient. The food did not take long and was very fresh and nice. Enjoyed the almost romantic restaurant atmosphere there in the evening. It was really nice.

Did not have a good experience the restaurant were crawling with termites and no one was willing to clean it up. Food was ok.

The service is very friendly. The waiters understand the menu very well and offer advice if you need it. The upstairs open-air eating area is great if you like to feel the warm rays of the sun or a cool evening breeze.

The service there is very very bad. The restaurant was not busy today but I ordered a take away for 1 person and after about 15 minutes and they brought the bill. I made a payment at 13:55 and at 14:20 was still waiting for my order. I had to go inside to check whats happening. Wasted almost an hour just for fish and calamari combo.

Nice food, good place

I have been dining at this Ocean Basket since it opened its doors. However, over the years the experience did not stay what it was in the beginning. It is no longer my first choice of destinations - the outlet needs to be re-visited in the area of service and customer experience. I rate the food to still be above average but can add that I have most recently eaten at another Ocean Basket where the food was out of this world and the customer experience very welcoming. This set the new bar height in my mind…

Our waiter was nice but our dish was a bit disappointing. 3 clams and 3 prawns on the bed of rice. I suspected a bit more

The food was very nice but on top in the smoking area was not nice at all. The aircon is not working and it was so hot you sweat too much to enjoy your food. The candles to keep the flies out did not help at all. While you busy eating you have to wave the flies away, whipe the sweat of your face and sit in those hot conditions. The previous time we ate their it was exactly the same story and we thought by now they would have addressed the problem. The owner must look at this problem and it is the second time we complain about the same problem with the same manager. I hope they will sort it out not to lose more regular customers.

Mostly very good and friendly service, food are delicious! Front glass door a problem specially in winter. Very difficult to close properly and cold wind makes it very uncomfortable specially for the tables left from the door.

Great romantic atmosphere. Fresh Nd delicious seafood. Friendly staff. Not great though for very late dining. Has upstairs and downstairs seating as well as outdoor and indoor seating. Dont forget tantalising sangria.

Friendly staff and great sushi and seafood

It took more than 55 m before i managed to draw the attention of the waiter serving drinks. His service was prompt and speedy. Wish i counted the number of waitresses and number of times they walked past me simply ignoring every and all attempts to get at least some form of attention. It certainly seemed to have been done intentionally. What a pity. My family, friends and i have dined there often . Tonights experience was sufficiently rude and unacceptable to not dine there again and to not recommend OB to anyone again .

Nice and busy with semi deck kind of feel to it. Only thing is I dont think its very safe sitting outside since any person from the street can just reach over and perhaps snatch something valuable. But the food was really good as well as the service.

Our waitress was very friendly and would definitely go back if it was not for the manager that laughed at the fact that there was a moped in the complementary chillies. And when my husbands sushi arrived, the tuna was a brownish pink colour, to which same manager responded, by saying that it is fresh and that they got it frozen the day before from headoffice, trying to force us into accepting 1st the cost for, and 2nd an unacceptable plate of Sushi. When he did not leave from the table I asked him if he was going to force my husband to eat it and he abruptly told me hell take it off the bill. What happened to customer satisfaction.I would recommend that you rather make the waitress the manager as she was much more in control of the situation.

Hey atleast they do take aways. The place is a bit dirty, and needs urgent care. Talked to the manager who will talk to the owner. Show me the bottle. Saying again not all rum is the same.And still no improvements, the waiters is friendly the rest not so much.The only reason I still come here is the hope that this place will lift itself up.

Took take away fish and calamari. Food was good. But got charged R10 each for the garlic and jalapenos condiments that are free with sit in. Even bread and butter free with sitdown. Shall use alternative fish supplier from now

We were also missing some of the food that we leftover for takeaway.Also Frangelico doesnt make a white hot chocolate brown so our orders were mixed up aswell.

Poor poor service!!!No waiters to welcome you and seat you at 17h45.Cigarette buds all over welcome area + pateo which is not a smoking area.Beer bottels on the cements wall...guests have clearly left.Manager, Johan, could not be bothered nor apologize for the lack of welcoming staff and the state of the restaurant.

The platters are incredible. Hot, fresh seafood. What more can you want?

Changed my rating from 4 to 1 star. Even though the food is fine, it’s rather unpleasant to have to go there. The wait staff are horrible, it’s got a very dirty feel and the music is SO loud. I won’t recommend anyone to go there. This place has gone down the drain. If the manager would just spend half as much time working with the staff as he does sitting and chowing store food...

Will definitely not return to oceanBasket ninapark.When we arrived we had to wait for a waitress but all was just sitting around. Ordered pre drinks that we waited 20 min for. Table next to us just walked with drinks in their hands that they bought at the bottle store next door. The mangers just let it slide did nothing about it. When our drinks arrived.. long island ice tea it was in a dirty glass. No ice. It tasted flat. Did not feel to order a second one. The service is really not good. . The restaurant wasnt even that busy.

My memory of this place is err... wrongo. This i think used to be an ocean basket a few years ago, now it just has the signage and branding left behind by the previous tenants. But If you just wanna smoke and go drink Draughts all day it is just perfecto, but for you and your kid or family....i say it is a nonono no matter how the food may taste
