I would just like to thank Walter for the awesome service we received earlier this evening. My husband and I made dinner reservations at a well known 5 star restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. The service and food was so terrible that we ended up walking out. Our last visit to OB Hazendal and a few others prior to that was super disappointing. We decided we done with OB for good. To be honest OB was the last restaurant I thought Id end up celebrating our special day. It was also one of the only restaurants still open. Im so glad we ended up at OB Tygervalley . The food was amazing and Walter made our evening extra special with a special anniversary treat Thank you for restoring our faith in OB. I will definitely visit again.

It was my first time trying Ocean Basket as Im not the biggest seafood fan, however I do like certain food. I ordered the salmon which was very tasty, but extremely oily (i ended up patting some of it off with serviettes). I do understand that fish is naturally oily but it was mixed with whatever they used to make it which was a bit overkill. However, the salmon thereafter was very tasty. The waiter seemed a bit clueless and didnt know answers to questions i had about the food. Overall not a bad experience and would possibly come back again at some point.

Canal walk branch needs to conduct their training at Tyger Valley, they have lots too learn. The music is Awsome soft you can hear ur self speak.lastly Thank. If i could give no stars i would, dont bother ordering from here as the managers have no client relations skills. We ordered food here as take away and when we received our food the portions where horribly small, items missing.We then contacted them to raise the issue then we where told that they need to investigate investigate what i ask you???? we the client spend R300 and they cant even provide what they advertise. Then the Manager Walter still has attitude to tell my wife its her fault.You would think during these times of unemployment and Covid that companies would take better care of there client.Ill take my money somewhere else.

A good restaurant and better than a lot of branches. The fish is always fresh, and the sauces well above average. The calamari was very tender. Wine list dull.

Great food but pricey

As a frequent patron to this ocean basket, I was dissapointed to have been a customer for years to. Now cease the relationship. In current times, we would order and pickup rather than sit down and to my shock the usual meal I order was rubbery, bland and had me thinking it was frozen for months prior. A valued customer gone for good!

I used to go to OB regularly for my fish fix but can’t stand the mall anymore. So going today was the first time I got to see the new shop and I like it. The old decor got a bit dated. The new shop looks great but even beter is that the quality of service and the product stayed excellent. R300 for the platter for 2 is fair although I always end up wanting more prawns but that is just because it is so damn good. And now they have craft beer as well so maybe I should brave the mall more often, afterall fish is high is some omega 3 thingy which is apparantly good for you, more than the cajun spice.

We visited Tygervalley Ocean Basket, 7 February 2021 and ordered the platter for 2. After not eating anything at all yesterday besides the platter for 2, we became Ill this morning 8 February 2021. I reported the food poising to the customer feedback team at Ocean Basket. I recieved a call from the owner of tygervalley John Scott who was more interested in why i posted a review instead of calling them first. I had not posted any reviews but i was made to feel like i damaged a reputation, when the actual problem was the food that made us ill.I was also not happy with the fact that the owner himself told us that there produce is not fresh, but frozen - not at all what they advertise. He claims that all their produce was fresh. John, you can say whatever you want. I did not receive great food, and became ill, after eating only your food for the entire day. My Partner is sick as well and all John cares about is telling me that I am lying and his food is fresh and they are not responsible for anything. Apart from not great food, the owners attitude does not go down well with me. After a morning of throwing up with Stomach cramps that have left me really weakk and tired, i do not need John Scotts attitude. I will not support this store again.

The service was great, the food was delivered in really good time. The platter for two which we usually order was disappointing the chips tasted a bit old the lemon butter sauce was basically just creamy butter some prawns were undercooked and it just wasnt up to OB standards im used to. Given it is in a food court I dont think quality should be compromised for turnover. No more food courts for me

Not my favourite branch of the franchise,atmosphere very stuffy compared to N1 city or even Cape Gate.My wifes order was a disaster, but credit to the manager who swapped out her dish and within minutes we where all eating .Big fan of Ocean Basket brand,but would really ride the extra couple of kms and re visit Cape Gate or N1 City branches.

The portions are much smaller than Blouberg branch for the same price. The quality at this branch is not value for money.

No bathrooms a bit disappointing and no aircon

Recently returned. Was a bit underwhelming. Service is great and following Covid protocol. But portions were small with a lot of sides to make up the empty space on the plate. Calamari was the most disappointing, undercooked making feel almost slimy.

Overall not a bad experience our waiter was very kind and understanding and amended the bill.Foodwise it was very underwelming Ive had the Calamari & Kinglip combo at the Canal Walk branch and here it didnt taste or look like the canal walk OB at all. Kinglip is meant to be soft and fluffy and break apart in my mouth. This kinglip was very rubbery and over cooked. Also way too much butter. And the portion of calamari and fish was so small not fitting of R175Our drinks as well I didnt know whether I was at ster kinekor waiting for my popcorn or at a restaurant, because I ordered a strawberry daiquiri expecting and alcoholic drink but instead had a huge strawberry slushpuppy that a toddler would have enjoyed drinking.

On the 29th of February 2020 my family were asked to leave Ocean Basket Tygervalley because allegedly of a complaint that my 16 month old son was making noise. My toddler child was behaving as any other normal toddler making toddler sounds and a waiter came over saying he was sent by the manager and asked if I could tell the child to keep his noise down of which I responded and asked him if he has ever told a 16 month old child to be quiet. I feel aggrieved by this treatment and the restaurant should put up a sign that says its not child friendly than for parents to be humiliated by being asked to leave in the way they did to us.Certainly Ocean basket Tygervalley is not going to be where I will go for my sea food in the future.

Great service and good food. Went on a date with my wife and we were served with bread before we ordered. Drinks came quickly and food was wonderful. Througout the service was very good. Would recommend this restaurant.

We had dinner at the Tyger valley mall Ocean basket and we were blown away, the quality of the food and the extremely energized staff made our outing so much better!! Leaps and bounds better than our local Ocean basket! Will definitely go there again.

8:45 and I got turned away saying that they are closing, even though the website states that they close at 10:00pm. I went to Hooked instead and the were more welcoming. Its sad because I came from town just for this Ocean Basket.

I was in your restaurant today and it was extremely busy. Your waitress Thaa came to our table with a huge smile and very friendly attitude and, even though we had to wait a LONG time she made the wait a pleasure. Disappointing... my husband and I are serious seafood fans and enjoy Ocean Baskets food in general. Unfortunately this time round we tried the Ocean Basket branch in Tygervalley and were let down.Upon arriving, we were taken to our table and seated. We placed our drinks order and then were left with very little service thereafter. We even asked the Manager if he could assist with taking our order and he responded Ill look for your waiter.Our starters arrived and while eating our starters the mains arrived within a gap of 5minutes, poor planning! While trying to enjoy our meal every 2-3 minutes we had to endure the chef yelling Calamari from the kitchen... this isnt the service we are accustomed to from Ocean Basket.

We ordered rice with fish. The rice we got was off. I would not have bothered to report but the fact is this is the second experience with sour rice. The last time fresh rice was made but after today I just decided to not go back again. What a pity since it was a convenient place to eat after shopping. Disappointed.

The portion of the Kingklip was extremely small and a small bowl of salad which is R115 was pathetic. Definitely not worth the price. Ordered the Platter for one too and the hake was so small and flat as a pancake. Definitely not value for money!! What happened to back in the days where one had to ask for a doggy bag??

My wife and I wanted to go to Ocean Basket (Sunday around 19:00) and came to a shop that was busy being cleaned up. We decided to rather go to Hooked just down stairs, we did not want to be rushed since the staff clearly was planning on leaving soon. We where welcomed at Hooked and at 20:00 we saw the waiters turning the chairs onto the tables. Just a word of advice. Advertising your business to be closed when you have potential patrons, might mean someone is not coming back to your store.

Great seafood. Hardly disappointing. Can be a bit pricey but overall good value for money.

Ordered the prawn salad R95, very few prawns, which were oily and gritty as if they were made in old oil. The lettuce leaves were big, tough and bitter. Simply terrible

Ocean Basket Tygervally will NEVER see me again!!!!❌❌❌❌ They have by far the WORST SUSHI, we ordered sushi as a starter and it was a plate of salt! My stomach was burning. The manager played it off as if there was nothing wrong with the sushi and that it taste normal❌...I will not recommend anyone to eat their sushi OR even go there they might just sell you a plate of salt! What a waste of money! Extremely disappointing!

The staff are very friendly and efficient. The location is not great as it is in a shopping mall, but that is to be expected. The food was average, the prawns were overcooked and there wasnt enough lemon butter sauce. However the rest of the meal (the fish), was cooked well. We went there for my sons birthday and the plate breaking ceremony was a treat. Would have given 4 stars if the food was better.

A great seafood restaurant that serves more than just great seafood. Situated on the top level of Tygervalleys Arena area, it has a pretty nice view of the entire food court and the malls massive Big Screen. I would describe this place as relatively cosy.

Had a fantastic time. The owners did a greek evening of plate breaking. The food was fantastic. We went on Thursday not sure if they do rhis every Thursday. Every waiter ensured everything was fine with us whilst eating

Food was not bad - calamari and prawns good, fish average, calamari salad was more a case of have a little calamari with a great deal of cucumber. Coffee was horrible - like old burnt tyres -probably boiling away on the heating plate all day. Service average.

Had the most disappointing dining experience ever by Ocean Basket Tygervallay. First let me start off by saying that I am a big fan of Ocean Basket restaurants, but this was not a pleasant experience, especially considering it wasmyself and my girlfriend anniversary.Upon arriving and being seated, it took a full 10 minutes for any waiter to even bother to come assist us. Plenty of them just standing around near the entrance and near the kitchen, but one struggles to get anyones attention. When someone eventually decided to come take our order, my girlfriend ordered the lemonade (R42 for 1 litre, as indicated on our bill), and I ordered a red wine carafe, confirming with the waiter that I wanted a 250ml one, not the 750ml one.After our drinks arrived and we ordered our food (18 prince prawns for myself, fish and calamari for my girlfriend), we waited for our food to arrive. My girlfriend ordered a Fanta Grape because she had finished her lemonade, and our food arrived at the same time. While eating my prawns, I noted that at least a third of them were undercooked!At this point I was already livid because the service was so atrocious, with waiters that never bother to check up with you on how your food is, etc, but even when you try to get their attention, they ignore you. when we received the bill (and also having noticed that the neighbouring table had ordered a lemonade and was brought a 1 litre jug of it), I noticed that we were charged on the bill for 1 litre of lemonade, despite only receiving a 250ml carafe of it (Since the menu didnt specify what the quantity was, we assumed it was 250ml, until we saw our neighbouring tables big jug). Eventually it was rectified after the waiter discussed it with the manager (And neither of them even had the decency to come offer a proper apology).I will say this - I love Ocean Basket, it is one of my favorites, but the service received at Ocean Basket Tygervalley tonight really put a stain on my impression of the franchise. I have been dining at various Ocean Baskets for many years, and have always gotten outstanding service, but Ocean Basket Tygervalley is truly a disgrace to the franchise, given the utter lack of caring they have for their customers.

Personally I think they serve the best food in Tygervalley. The fish is fresh and the waiters are friendly and hospitable toward everyone.

Top quality food and service

Friday nights are always busy there and were use to it BUT everything is getting worse! Waiter had absolutely no interest in us. Manager couldnt be phased with us either. From when we eventually got our drinks to just sitting & waiting for him to come take our food order to waiting to order a cooldrink for my son as their chocolate milkshakes are just putrid. Etc., etc. We then had to wait till he was ready to get the bill to us. So hes just been dropping things at the table & walking off never asked if we need anything/is everything ok... Nothing. I had to ask another waiter for a card machine & she couldnt be phased either (obviously like 2-3 hours later its not that busy anymore) she gets there with the machine & apparently tears off an error slip??? From my ABSA premium banking card... Trying to insult me too. The best OB services was at Canal walk, V & A waterfront & O.R. Tambo airport - where they cater for majority of tourists.
