One of the two best breakfast and lunch venues in Philadelphia. Lots of space and a reasonable variety of choice on the menu. Bit short on vegetarian options but those offered are good. Good service and very clean and well kept all round. Enough rest rooms for a change as well. Reasonable pricing. Lots of miggies near a small water feature. I had the farm bread with cheese and jam. Nearly finished it before taking a pic. Sorry for the scarce info.
Absolutely loved the vibe here. Beautiful venue. Plaaskombuis aromas drifted out the doors to where we were seated outside.Waiter was super friendly. Owner also popped by the table at some stage, and even the chef checked up on us during our meal. The beer was ice cold and the burgers we had gets an A+ rating. The kind of restaurant that one can easily recommend to others.
Delicious food with great vegetarian options. While there is no play park for kids there is a lawn and a tractor. Lovely stop
The best place for a Sunday lunch. Great hostess absolutely wonderful waitresses....definately worth it. This is how a Sunday lunch should be. Do yourself a favor and GO
An old Mill restored into a coffee shop/restaurant - hearty delicious food with generous portions.Definitley worth a drive even if its just for a coffee to get out
Absolutely amazing atmosphere and the food is out of this world! Service is fantastic and the staff is really friendly!
An absolute gem in the middle of nowhere. Set in an old mill with a clean, rustic feel to it. The menu was only a page which made ordering easy.I ordered the lamb shoulder pie with beetroot salad. The lamb was superbly done where it melted in my mouth. The pie was not dry but not soggy, too. The gravy complimented the dish. If anything, it may have been a tad too salty. My partner ordered an open brown toasted smoked salmon sandwich. Seasoned well, tasty and light. It would’ve been nice with a light salad, though.Along with the friendly service and great food, this restaurant is a must-visit for everyone.
Man I love this place.. nice pea 🍲 on cold day with fresh bread.. need to go back
We used this venue for a family reunion of 50 people. The venue was away from the restaurant and was ideal for our private function. Tea was served on arrival and we had a small buffet for lunch which included dessert. A cash bar was available. It is air conditioned - what a relief as it is high summer! All was reasonably priced and the food was very good. Worth every penny.
Breakfasts with a difference.Had a wonderful tasty breakfast in tranquil surroundings. Very friendly staff, and management. Can highly recommend this establishment, and you certainly get the country feel, as well as not too far from Cape Town.See you soon.
One of the bestest toasted sarmies I have had and the hot chocolate was awesome. Definitely will be going back thats for sure.
Very nice place to go - we had toasted sandwiches and it was delicious! Will go again with family and friends
Breakfast run with some friends and ordered a burger. Probably THÉ BEST BURGER I have eaten ever. I am a huge chips lover, so the chips portion could have been bigger especially when its that tasty. The patty was nice and thick, juicy and made the trip worth while! My compliments to the chef.
Quaint little coffee shop. The pie and carrot cake are to die for
The experience we as a family enjoyed as a birthday lunch, was wonderful.Food was super well prepared , not one of us six could find fault.....and the prices are adjusted to our new economic circumstances. You will not find any other restaurant offer more value for your money and the food is truely delicious,I can comfortably recommend De Malle Meul.
Staff were friendly, good service and food was well presented and delicious. Can recommend the slow roasted lamb pie.
This very traditional South African restaurant has a modest menu that packs a punch. Their Sunday buffet lunches are too die for. The food is wholesome, homey and just darn right good.the sweet potatoe rolls and the pumpkin puffs are mouthwateringly amazing. They welcome their guest with a a warm and friendly greeting and a smile. The service is on point and will get a star ⭐️ as one of my all time favourite places. Secure parking. In this peacefully little town of Philadelphia just off the N7 to Malmesbury. You will not be disappointed.
Early morning breakfast. Good art. Friendly service and beautiful garden.
Lovely spot and our regular Saturday cycle stop as they open early enough. Coffees are great and breakfast yummy.
Lovely little spot for light meals - and make sure to check out their ready-made frozen dishes too
Got my historical engineering interests aroused.
The Malle Meule is an excellent place to visit. Friendly òwners
Great coffee and the best pumpkin cake !
Lovely place to sit and have a light meal with great coffee - especially during Autumn time
Lovely place. Beautiful interior. Wonderful staff. And everything in a peaceful little town.
I just love everything and everyone at this spot amongst the wheat and canola
We had Christmas lunch there, (not for the first time either). The food is outstanding, words literally fail to describe how good. The staff are friendly. I will be dreaming of this lunch for a long time.
Nice setting with good farmstyle food
I had a slightly mixed experience at this coffeeshop. please dont think me too critical and read all to understand my mindset... The first quirky detail was the menu... its a a5 page with covid details on top and a list of meals that you have to tick off the meal you want... maybe its just a covid thing. i am oldschool on nice menus :PSecondly my latte was cold and tasted like burned milk. I know... i am fussy about my coffee.on a positive note... my food came and the pie i chose was cold on the inside... the owner immediately came over after my complaint and not only warmed my food but redid the entire meal. i got fresh chips, a new pie, warm food , warm gravy... i enjoyed every bite. Thank you to the owner for sorting this out and turning an unpleasant thing into something i really enjoyed.so as i said... slightly mixed feelings but a definate positive ending. I will actually recomend the food at the Malle Meul but if you are looking for good coffee then maybe try one of the other two coffee shops in Philidelpia. I did however enjoy the atmosphere in the coffeeshop. To the owner... please get a much better coffee brand to assosiate with and get a proper barista to make your lattes, this will put your drinks in the same league as your great food.
Nice savory French toast and coffee
Good food at very affordable prices. Very good wine selection at reasonable prices. Prompt, friendly service
As always a very good experience. Fresh farm bread, real homemade jams especially apricot jam. Yum. Delicious lunch. Pie highly recommended.
Excellent food. Nice and friwndly environment
Great atmosphere and food.
Went for a very mediocre lunch at another spot in town and then just popped in to see what this place had to offer.Wow......what an awesome surprise! We opted for coffees and lemon meringue which was utterly delicous and then we also bought a few of her frozen meals which sounded delicous.....will post again once we try them.I really wished we stopped here first as her light menu for lunches would have suited us much better.A great place to visit when you take a drive to see the magnificant canola fields xx
Lovely old building, friendly staff, ice cold beer!
Wonderful place! Delicious melktert, and warm and sincere service.
Amazing art by Pieter van Der Westhuisen, also a coffee shop and art sales.
Always a nice experience and the best chocolate cake
The best food and coffee.
Love the owners! Excellent service, delicious food, fantastic setting and super ambiance. Loved the background music and Pieter vd Westhuizen stunning art!!!!!!! I will be back with the rest of the family!
Lovely atmosphere, good coffee and service. The Lemon Meringue was excellent! Philledelphia is a lovely tranquil village to visit.
Authentic country cooking, good friendly and professional service.
Quaint...limited venue
What a quaint town and restaurant. We had the Lamb Pie and Chocolate cake... It was to die for!
Best Bread and great food!
Great sandwich and coffee here!
Philly Beer a must . Quaint with friendly staff
Was absolutely awesome 👌
I had French toast with bacon and chutney. The toast was soggy, I was given two tiny bits of bacon and the chutney both smelled and tasted of old oil and vinegar. Truly disappointing. On the up side the waitress was friendly and the coffee was OK.
We had beers and traditional melk tert and enjoyed it. Its a nice relaxing place.
This is what a restaurant should be - beautiful, cosy interior, efficient, friendly and unobtrusive staff, well-sourced ingredients and wine, simple, hearty food made with care and love, and probably THE best milktart in the Western Cape.
Really lovely friendly greeting, food was yum and coffee good.Staff so good and kind.
I had a function at De Malle Meul on 13 March 2020.The service and food was outstanding.
Good home style cooking. Friendly staff. Will be back
Very nice place to eat nice food and friendly waitresses. Also nice to sit outside when sunny day.
Food was very good and service was excellent
Pleasant atmosphere, good food. Home baked bread and just a few minutes out of town!
Food was beyond excellent, will go back there any day. 👍
Great farm style restaurant with the added bonus of a selection of home made dishes that you can take home to freeze and keep for a rainy day.
Good old home style food that many enjoy. If you go home hungry its your own fault. Set in an old mill with the most beautiful vintage furniture. Staff are wonderful and friendly. This is the place to go if you long for your oumas food
Charming little place, perfect for breakfast. Lovely friendly staff. Will Defenitly be back soon!
Really awsome place for breakfast and more!
Great place for a meal. Such an interesting building and full of art
Delicious food and friendly service
Was an awesome visit with the most amazing food. Their lamb of leg pie with the most amazing roast beetroot. On top of it they are doggie friendly. Thanks for an awesome experience and will definitely be returning sooner than you think. Thank you ❤
Love the informal look with couches instead of chairs as well as the beautiful artwork, the stage...Karin you outdone yourself. This is definitely my new theatre. Also love the fact, being older, that shows begin at 5h30 and you can eat afterwards. The best in the Cape...
This is an old style building that looks like a barn with a farm setting . The food was delicious (home style) and it is guarantee that you will be saturated when you leave. You can choose between the a la carte menu and buffet lunch but Im not sure about the grills or braais are done separately.Whilst I went to dish some food my eye fell on the local paintings on the wall which was very noticeable and captivating. Simple yet eye-catchingI think that the desert to top off the lunch could be looked at a bit differently.
Unique, stylish and special local venue. Had some good parties there. Miss the rugby matches on big screen. How about movie nights on Fridays and Saturdays?
Quick service. Food made with love.
Thank you so much for an amazing lunch! The food and service were superb. The ribs, the roast potatoes and the pavlova were out of this world. Well done!
Quaint and private eatery in Philidelphia
Have been there for a wedding reception a few years ago and again for a birthday party a few weeks ago. Place is cozy, has a lot of character and is neat. The washrooms are clean. Try their fig and nut tart - delicious!
Great vibe love the owners bean hands on them selves and the unique decor.
Located in a beautiful little town, very friendly staff, good service and quality food. Perfect stop for cyclist or scenic drives through the countryside.
Lockdown .. with a small menu...not much to choose from.
The food was outstandingly good. So homemade. The presentation of the food was extremely good.
The Sunsay duvet is absolutely fantastic. Authentic traditional South African food. Best curry lamb tripe skaap afval in South Africa. All their other food is also outstanding. Book to avoid disappointment. Also a wonderful intimate wedding venue with lovely chapel.
Sunday buffet is delicious traditional south African food. Limited wine but descent selection. Good friendly service and I would advise booking in advance. Nice vibe.
This is a nice restaurant with Great Sunday buffet with a reasonable price. it is also a good venue for functions. We had a business function here and we were all amaze with the quality of food. It is typical Sunday Boerekos
The food and service great. This is our favourite restaurant.
Amazing food all round, friendly staff, great decor. Well definitely be back.
