The Deli is an absolute joy to behold! Love the imported goods, coffee and offerings from the bakery and freezer. Love to shop here.The restaurant although pretty and comfortable lacked good service and we found the offerings to be pricey. I ordered the shakshuka.. which came beautifully presented but lacked in flavor..Great ambience and coffee though and much potential … will give it another try and hope for a better experience with the restaurant..

Enjoyed the Great Cape Deli as the West Coast finally has its own cosmopolitan deli normally found in Sea Point. Great to have breakfast or coffee with friends.

So happy a friend recommended this place. Friendly staff, I ordered per peri chicken livers with a poached egg, quite dissapointed, as my dish was very bland, with no peri peri. My friend however had the salmon and avo dish and was very happy. Will be back to try another dish

My favorite happy place! I love exploring (and trying) ingredients from around the world. Staff is very knowledgeable, food is wonderful and chef Alwyn is very helpful when wanting to try new ingredients. Recommended for foodies that love to explore new dishes!

We went for coffee. What a great experience! As someone that enjoys good coffee, I did not had high expectations. What a gem. They use a house blend that has a medium to dark roast. Very rich taste. Better that any other you will find nearby. Best coffee in the West Coast area!They sold a lot of Milk alternatives including Soy, Oat and Almond.The barista knows what he is doing.

Came to have breakfast and work. They ended up charging me R40 extra on my bill to use their electricity for my laptop being plugged in. Abit of a cheek especially when I ended up spending R380 on food and drink for 2. No social distancing between tables. Food wasnt that great either. I wont be back out of principle.

Bread very old. Must be a few days old and left uncovered. Extremely disappointed. Paid full price for very stale bread which I can only make toast with, even the pigeons were unhappy and unwilling to eat it. They should tell you before hand that the bread you are buying is old.Will never go back.After reading response from owner: I was charged full price for your old bread and not 30% off. It certainly didnt taste like 1 day old bread unless it was put in a time accelerating machine for 24hrs.Secondly, why are you giving your old diseased bread to charity? Is that what you think of the less fortunate? I have reconsidered my rating but I am unable to give a 0 star rating.

Would have been great to have some fries or potato wedges and/or a dipping sauce alongside croquettes/rissoles however they were both good

Wouldnt visit the establishment again. We frequently breakfast at spots in the Blouberg area and have never had the issue where we couldnt order a create your own breakfast. We just wanted to order two slices of bread with two poached eggs but we werent able to. The manager also came to reiterate that you can only order something that is on the menu and cant deviate at all. I do believe this is a shortsighted view. Its not like we wanted to order something that they dont have in the kitchen. My husband doesnt eat all the other products that would have been on the eggs benedict. Why pay R90 for two slices of bread and two poached eggs then? Sorry but I will definitely not support you in the future again but rather go to all the restaurants in the area that does support this. :) Edit: I am blown away by the response from the owner but this confirms why I will no longer support the establishment.

The only reason I am giving this establishment a one star is because a zero rating was not available. I had THE worst experience in terms of COVID compliance. The manager came out of his office to deal with another issue and remained behind the counter without his mask. When I asked him to respectfully put his mask on he said he was abiding by social distancing protocols (not true as you are, by law, meant to wear a mask in public places). I then asked to speak to the owner, he also came out of his office without a mask. He went on to tell me I should educate myself about COVID and that it is a rule and not law to wear a mask. He said as it is his establishment and he can decide what rules to follow. As someone who has experienced the loss of family friends to COVID I could not believe the audacity of this man who told me I can go ahead and report him. I am in actual disbelief that someone could be so reckless with my safety and that of his staff in not trying to keep the people surrounding him safe. Way to go for making this horrible situation of a pandemic even worse by not doing the most basic thing of respecting your fellow man and wearing a mask. By the way, this is from a fellow EDUCATED South African citizen.

Very impressed with the selection and quality of goods on offer. You dont need to go to Italy, you can get some great food stuffs here. You can sit down and enjoy there or you can bring it home and add it to your own pantry.

Best deli up the Weat Coast

Another place not to visit in this time of Covid: the great cape deli in seaside village... my folks went for lunch this last week and spoke to the owner about their concern about the misuse of face masks by staff (worn around the neck(?) or only covering mouth not nose too )or complete lack of one by the manager who was walking around during their meal. The owner’s reaction to my elderly parents was extremely aggressive and ‘everyone is going to get Covid anyway’ and ‘it’s proven that masks don’t do anything’ ...For your safety and the safety of your loved ones, please consider your restaurant choices.

What a wonderful store!!! The environment, the products, the coffee, the freshly made treats and the frozen meals... they are all absolutely delicious. But most of all, the people, the warm atmosphere and la dolce vita (the good life) vibe is worth the visit. I am so pleased that this store has become part of our West Coast community.

In this time of being ultra aware of hygiene, its hard not to notice that some folks behind the counter arent wearing masks or hair coverings. The stock is great though and other options for us West Coasters are far, so this shop is a good option for prepacked goods and for those more confident in their resilience than me.
