The staff are lovely, following all covid protocols, the food and sushi was amazing. The white sangria did however have a weird aftertaste. Ba definite must try, their food is exceptional

Good evening... I was extremely disappointed with the poor service I received tonight from the the staff of Ocean basket morning view... I know the owner as being extremely friendly but not the case tonight. I didnt not want to tip my waiter but did so in any case.. We were extremely disappointed with the manager also. He only came to us before we had started eating.. What is that.. I dont know 🤭 😡

This is my first visit to this OB branch. Seems each OB brings something unique, this one is the delightful dessert menu (note to self, Do Not bring your Pilates instructor with you to lunch next time!). Although we had a rocky start (sorry, we dont have this, we dont have that in stock), the day went well thanks to good service and great food.

Quality of Ocean Basket is not what it used to be, taste wasnt bad, but not great either, especially the fried calamari which was a bit soggy.Service was pretty good, and atmosphere isnt bad.

Considering restaurants are claiming to be do desperate for business during lockdown I dont understand why I recieved such lacklustre service today as I was the only customer there, I got no utensils or serviettes, undercooked rice and no friendly welcome or encouragement to return, I could have potentially referred many colleagues as you fish&chip deal is cheap but will not be wasting my time, send staff to Bluehills branch in Midrand for training, they know how its done right

Unfortunately we were given a half-portion but charged for a full portion. We will see if Banele makes up for it as promised

I ordered a platter for two, which includes Calamari heads and tails, Prawns, Hake (fish) with rice and chips.I was little afraid to taste sea food because of smell.But the story is different here, its so delicious and no smell.Worthy to be there.

The food is amazing and the service Is impeccable. This ocean basket is by far the best that I have ever been to. I have been here several times since 2017 and they have been and are still serving great food.

Ocean Basket staff were very friendly & welcoming on saturday. I requested 2 grilled hake with chips & rice which was ready promptly. I was also offered for my order to be brought to my car. The lemon butter sauce that accompanied the meal was outstanding. So I will definitely visit this restaurant again soon. The place is also kept spotlessly clean including their tables.

There was no food options for people who dont eat fish, like chicken or red meat. There is also not a lot of options for vegetarians, only 2 (the zucchini and halloumi)

Ordered through Uber Eats and received my Prawns that was gone off...... called the manager, Zanele, who was more interested in me returning the meal than customer satisfaction. Refused to assist in any way! Ruined my supper and my experience at this branch.....

Very disappointed by the service. Amongst other things, the waitress got our order wrong and the service was generally slow even though the restaurant wasnt that full. The food was not bad, but the overall service would not me recommend this place.

Am so disappointed after such a hectic day working from home with kids schoolwork opted to order dinner through your branch as the one I normally order from is temporarily closed(Sunninghill- which by the way always offers an excellent service and excellent quality food).First the order was expected to arrive at 18.10 latest being 18.20, order only arrived at 18.40 which was a whole new experience for me.Ordered the Full Decker Platter only to be served 2 fish that were inedible due to them being so rubbery(I took videos and photos of these) these were also half the size of the fish we normally get with this platter. The prawns were so salty that even my kids who are prawn lovers couldnt eat and were powdery like they have gone off.What I was avoiding to do am now busy with(preparing dinner) with my R630 gone down the drain.I guess Morning View is out of my list the next time I am considering ordering in. To say I am disappointed is actually understating how I feel right now.

I was amazed at how good the sushi was. Admittedly, my friends had it, not me. But from the presentation and tastes I had, I was impressed.I tend to avoid this Ocean Basket because their service is usually slow. But, apart from forgetting a glass of water, they were pretty much on point. Ill give it another shot some time. Theyve kinda redeemed themselves.

Good food with quick, friendly service. Love the menu variety and we have always enjoyed the meals. Most of the time we eat in, but have occasionally had takeout and the meal quality has always been good and well packaged (I prefer to call and collect myself)

I can say without a doubt that this is one of the best Ocean Baskets that I have been to. The quality of the food is amazing and the waiters go the extra mile to ensure you are having a good meal. The management is always on the ball and the manager always has a big smile waiting for you. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Definitely always a reliable place to go regardless of whether busy or quiet. Service is quick and standard of food remains consistently good. Staff all very friendly and personable. Have eaten here many times and will continue to support them.

Compliments to the waitress who served 5 tables. Not sure why as the restaurant was not busy. She did a great job as crowds are not easy to manage. However would like to pose a question to management. Does one person assist so many people?

Friendly and helpful staff. My order was ready for collection in the time advised. My portion of the grilled calamari was a little on the small side, but tasty nonetheless.

My company went there for a Pre Christmas lunch and I must say the food is amazing, staff friendly and amazing atmosphere. As a Zulu man I was surprised at how much I enjoyed having fish instead of my usual nyama in December. Will definitely be going back with the family.

Well run owner managed restaurant. Waiters are polite and efficient. Restaurant is clean compared to other OBs in Gauteng. Food quality is really good ... what you expect from an Ocean Basket. It was refreshing to have an OB meal prepared the way it was done when this franchise started. I would certainly return with my family, friends and business associates. I have visited the restaurant a number of times with my two young children. The kids love the food and the opportunity to play in a small and simple play area, but it gives them the chance to release none the less. The waiters are attentive, the service is quick and the food is very good .Ocean Baskets have the reputation for producing really good fish dishes at even better prices. A great venue for a nice dinner.

Always good & convenient. There is a small play area for kids right next to seating so you can keep an eye on the little ones.Sometimes I find it hard to get waiters attention but certainly is not an issue.

I told our waiter and then manager that my girl friends meal was too salty and oily but no apolgy was offered never mind a complimentary coffee or desert as a form of an apology. Futhermore when the owner was told he told the waiter to charge me the full price!! Appauling reaction and lack of customer care!!! Youve lost 2 new customers rather than gaining 2!! Disgraceful customer service!!!

My partner and I were a bit disappointed with the service. We went during the time of the world cup. I understand the staff did not want to work and were not happy but I had been looking forward to going out as we had been busy. We started off by the Green pepper corn in Morningside and we were not impressed with the starter. We usually go to Ocean basket in Sunninghill but the Morningside branch was closer. Our buns were hard, our tartar sauce was salty, the fish was oily. I was seriously disappointed and the service our waitress provided was not up to standard. We had ro keep calling her for drinks.

Best OB I have ever visited. when the owner is there (most of the time) its perfect. Ask for dry grill if you care for your health, its still tastes good.

Sunday lunch. Ordered Dorado disappointed with portion size appears to be half the size stated in their menu. Dry food, poor presentation. Nice outdoor atmosphere.

I was dissatisfied with the service, it took all of 10 minutes before a waitron approached us. Then again after we finished our meal another 10 minute wait, we finally decided to go make payment at the counter. Through the course of meal no sign of the manager. The staff were unfriendly, not even a smile.... 😩

Big up to the smaller guy! I used frequent Melrose Arch and Sandton. . . Service and quality got so bad I swore off Ocean Basket for life. But recently a friend had a small get together and I was forced to visit this branch.To my surprise it is exceptionally well managed and the food was great. You can tell there are experienced staff here, waiters are dedicated and its a great little gem in Sandton. So amazed and didnt know how much I missed that Famous Garlic Butter Sauce. . .I just wish this owner had control of Melrose Arch.

Definitely not what it used to be. Previous owner was always present and paid a lot of attention to detail. Yesterdays meal was mediocre and the kingklip undercooked and the chips tasted like oven chips. We had to ask for condiments such as tomato sauce and olive oil. The bread rolls were undercooked and the chilli was dry ( always loved the fresh chilli served at OB ). I dont think we will be rushing back anytime soon. Very disappointed

I must say that the Ocean Basket Morningview is not like it used to be. I do not know if it is only the Morningview Ocean Basket ie change of management or if it is all Ocean Basket franchises. Firstly, the rolls are not as nice as they used to be. They are small and dry - like dry doughy ciabatta and personally I did not like them. (but I liked the rolls when I went to the same Ocean Basket last year.) Also, the rice is tasteless. The lemon and garlic butter is also not like it used to be. The peri peri served in the bottle has a sweetish taste to it. It is not hot like peri-peri (not even mild)I must say it is no longer the way it was!
