The tube calamari were hard and dry. The squid heads were mushy and tasteless. The chips were dry, fish was stale. We spoke to the manager, he then persisted by saying that the food is not stale. Really poor service. I was a regular client. Not anymore

Great food, great staff and great atmosphere. We went in during the evening and the staff was equally welcoming and served us well.

I ordered a prawn special and I was not given a bun, I had to ask and I was told they havent been prepared. Secondly the crushed chilli tasted like it was not fresh, like it was going off.

HiI Ordered the Prawn special and to my surprise, i dont know who decided to add spice on my prawns, the food was not the same as i usually have it when ordering and sitting in,some prawns were just Shells and nothing inside, the lemon sauce was runny, i dont know if it was done this way cause it was a Delivery or is this how you do it, Iam really Disappointed

I went to OB cause I was craving for good seafood. The bread they served us was so stale and the platter dish I ordered tasted burnt. When I asked the waiter why they serving us old bread he said it was the microwave that made it stale 😡. Im me never taking my family there

Seafood is always a best option to choose, specifically when its ocean basket, because its hard to get better seafood then ocean basket. Always on a high level with a neat and healthy atmosphere.

Don’t order sushi here, it’s terrible. The sushi chef is inexperienced. Everything else is good.

The sushi is bad and doesnt taste good. some of the salmon wasnt fresh you could actually see the difference between the fresh pieces and the oxidized pieces. The staff wasnt active at all.

Cannot understand that you would have the kiddies pay rides(horse and buggies) located in front of a restaurant. I really dont need the silly music and kids screaming while I have my meal.

The place is fantastic, situated in the among other restaurants with an ample space and free Wi-Fi.

The staff is not energetic and excited to serve the customers. They look so drained, they take time to clear mess from previous customer which makes it hard you to choose the table of your choice.

Golly!!! I dont go to ocean basket expecting fine dining but... What a disaster! What a mess!!This place has been in operation for eons and Im shocked that theyre still in business with such dead awful food.Everything was just bland and tasteless but the absolute worst was the sushi. 🤮🤢😰 I have no idea what that soggy mushy thing was. Yuck!!! Im tainted and it will take at least a century to forget about that disaster of a meal.And to top it all off, the bill was all the way through the roof. R600 for 2 people who didnt even drink alcohol. Like how?!?! Hoooowwwww?!?!?!?!Judging from the previous reviews, the place has a terrible track record. Wont be coming here EVER again. Id have to be dragged by the collar to ever give this place another cent.

The portions at Ocean Basket Southgate are snack size when compared to other Ocean Baskets, Mall of the south, The Glen,Goldreef, Rosebank and Sandton to name a few. Why is that? I bought fish ,calamari and stirfry. Yoh I got 1 small fish a table spoon of calamari and a table spoon of stirfry and thats considered a meal. When questioning the waiter I couldnt get a clear reason for this. Are you saving on Stock perhaps?

Where do i start?? My partner and i went for lunch today (14.08.18) in the hopes of cheering her up. Anyway. First impressions, the waitress introduced herself as a waitor, she wasnt very friendly neither.Secondly. When the food came - i ordered calamari and rice. Both my girlfriends meal and mind was terrible. Calamric was over cooked and had a rubber texture. Rice was over cooked and was literally stuck to the pan that it was served on. I even made i note on the bill that the food was terrible. I challenge their manager to have a look and respond. But jah. Really kak place.

Waiters are no where to be found, they have no energy, some of the food wasnt prepared, not because it was finished but because it just wasnt prepared. When the Waiters go on supper...they all go on supper, who looks after the customers? Pls management do something about this pls.
