The service at this hospital is very poor you wait for 3 hours for a doctor? Is there 1 doctor in whole hospital? Doctors are just walking past not offering any help people in wheelchairs Im so disappointedDepartment of health must do something or they must change stuff there to relaxed

My mom development like an epileptic attack faints n falls. Cracked her head and had 10 stitches. She has been in to the hospital twice and all they did was put her on a drip. The night doctor stated she needs to go for MRI. To the day doctor to whom my mom informed that they need to send her for MRI and your response was SO NOW YOU TELLING US HOW DO OUR JOB. She died in my arms on the 24/08/2021 at home. I want you to know she was loved by her husband, two sons, two daughter in laws a neighborhood and a huge extended family. I know nothing will come of this and I dont know which doctor this was but the universe is a powerful entity and you will be served by Karmic law. I am upset with my self that I could not afford medical aid sooner than to have sent her to a careless hospital such as mahatma Gandhi. I wish in my moms journey to final destination she meets our great mahatma Gandhi to guide her. With tears in my eyes I hope I did my best to get my moms blessings.

Please note that a vaccine site at the hospital doesn’t exist, despite notifications from DOH to attend one’s scheduled vaccine appointment there. Was sent to a nearby site instead where the Covid protocols left much to be desired, so I left. Just letting people know in case you also receive false info from DOH.

I went to make my babys road to health book due to my bag getting stolen with it in inside. The nurse on duty tells me that I must wait she has to see to everyone else. I explained to her that I came on my break because I was not given off from work. She was so rude and refused to assist. I also explained that I might lose my job and asked if I can send my mother with all the required details. She refused. They have no sense of urgency and are very rude. They feel as if they own the hospital. I admit that it is a government hospital but we are paying our tax so technically their service is not free to us. The government workers must appreciate that they have jobs and learn to do it to the best of their ability. Not use their jobs to show authority, they must learn to be compassionate in what they do. From what I see they all in it for the money and not to serve people...no peoples skills what so ever!!!

Went to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial hospital today, Went very early to beat the queue or cut off times for the optician, Today was the date given to me for an appointment, There was a Male nurse that handled everything and patients in the most professional manner, pleasant kind and compassionate, Ofcourse he works in the eyecare department, hereafter the optician settles in, Her name is Miss Ntokozo Dlamini she works professionally smart whilst the Male nurse Mr Goodman S.Kept on following up with all patients for eyecare and tested glasses, What an amazing team together they worked ongoing without breaks bringing this long queue down, I never hear patients complain ofcourse there was no reason too, After Mr Goodman did my vitals or checked my vitals he told me to be patient and wait my turn, I waited patiently and before I knew it i was sitting in the opticians chair, this lady knows her stuff also a kind and compassionate person who clearly is there for her patients, Hats off to the duo at the MGMH my experience will never be forgotten certain the rest of your patients today as well, Keep it up my friends you guys are truly professional and are a treasure. MGMH you certainly can do with more staff like Miss Dlamini & Mr Goodman, they are dedicated professionals ,individuals who really work hard and get the job done.

Absolutely pathetic service! My mum went in last week to get a covid test done. Her results came back positive which left her frantic!Today she was informed that her results had been mixed up with that of another patient and she is in fact negative 😕.Alot of apologies were being made to her but that does not justify their negligence. How many others could this have happened to?!We have false results being distributed which is unacceptable!

It is sad that a hospital is named after such a great individual. This hospital stands for the opposite compared to what the great Mr Mahatma Gandhi stood for. My mum waited two entire days just to see a Dr and eventually when one did see her, her insulin levels had already spiked up to 24, she collapsed and nobody helped her. It was my brother who picked her up and carried her to a bed. She was put on a drip and was told that there are more severe cases that the Drs needed to attend to. Her conditioned then worsen into severe diarrhea, she was told to change her clothes in front of other patients who were males. No nurses assistedor attended to her while she was in this condition as the nurses continued with their conversations on their phones. My mom was accused of having of lover who visited and cared for her frequently when it was actually her son. The nurses made fun of my family instead of fulfilling their Hippocratic oath that they had conveniently forgotten. It is sad that a hospital can provide this kind of service to the pensioners of our country. This is just one of many stories, image how many other there is that has not yet been revealed. These Drs & nurses fail to realize that it is our tax that is actually paying their salaries and to at least show some humanity to our pensioners is some thing they fail to do. It is time to speak out, if you have had similar or worse experiences with this hospital, air your views and share your experiences with the rest of the world. My mums words, Death is far more better than to be treated at Gandhi Memorial Hospital

A sad and disappointing attempt at public Healthcare. Like so many other government run institutions, this hospital is the epitomy of inefficiency and complete lack of empathy from so call public servants. One must understand that these hospitals serve almost 10 times the amount of patients that are privileged to have access to private care but this is no excuse for the blatant lack of service or care from staff. If you wouldnt treat your mother like that, why do it to another?

And when you try and explain they assume you bring rude. This hospital was the worst hospital ive been to and it was the first time.Far as i know even if you dying they make you wait. The only good thing is that the night shift security who was there was really friendly and safe.

The cashier very quickly cashes out many R40.00 however..not even half the patiences are seen to..the majority has to come back the next day and follow the same routine..hoping to get seen to..this costs another day off (unpaid) + transport..THIS IS BAD..whoevers in charge here, feel what we go thru in these words.. this shortage of staff affects performances & flow all round..the nurses look absolutely angry, frustrated & fatigued out..the expression is as if they are forced to do their jobs..how do we rate this hospital for GRAND service..when there is none found???????

The incompetence and dont careattitude of the staff in casualty killed my mom on 30 October2019. They left her without her drip and without any care until she went into shock and then they jumped around but it was too late. Her heart could not handle the shock. They should not even get 1 star but unfortunately this is the lowest choice. People are treated worse than animals. They are shouted at and chased away at 5 oclock even though they have been waiting the whole day. The place is dirty and unhygienic. I am disgusted by this hospital.

Dear SharonHope this will finds you wellkindly note that i am not happy about the service that you provide to your patients . My fiance was transferred to your Hospital hoping that my Daughter will be assisted but unfortunately we didnt get help that we needed. My wife was sent to your Hospital on Tuesday for consultation, the Doctor tried to take out the mach stick that was stuck in the ear of my daughter than she started bleeding a lot the doctor ended up saying she must come back on Friday 21 June 2019 , after that the doctor prescribed the medicine that my daughter will use until the return date , when my wife went to the hospital pharmacy they said they dont have all the medicine that was on the prescription it was out of stock they only gave her panado. which is very bad that means your staff they dont communicate OK fine.Friday she came back again when she met doctor she said they is nothing in the ear that doctor was lying so now you just left us with many question what is happening there , you guys are doing incorrect information to the patients .if she said they is nothing in the ear where is it because i would have understand if on Tuesday they gave us something to take it out but no they gave us panado that help for pain .i will have to open case about this i really need more information about this we will meet in court .my email [email protected]

This is a public hospital and you can have a good experience when you go here. But however for the majority of patients and visitors this does not happen. Recently they have blocked access to their parking, preventing visitors from parking in the hospital parking. This is under review and hopefully this rule is abolished as Im sure hospital management will see how frustrating this is for the public. For the most part staff dont really treat people well, and chronic patients who visit the hospital always have challenges and spend long hours at the hospital. Often patients medical history file is lost or staff cant find this. Hopefully this does improve as this hospital does have good potential.

Absolutely pathetic service from the Antenatal department. I just needed assistance to know where to wait for a doctor but was sent around in circles to 5 nurses who were absolutely full of attitude as if it was against their principles to assist people. The only doctor there, female, sitting at reception was also just as rude and unhelpful. I had a nurse refer me to another who shouted at me in front of all the patients there asking me why was I interrupting her when she was teaching. This was on Tuesday the 25th of April @ 8:30am. My father in law checked in the hospital during a strike at the hospital. He was dying, he needed to be in icu as a Specilist at the hospital said he had TB of the lungs. The doctor that attended to my father in law requested from his superior to transfer my father in law to another more equipt hospital with an ICU since Ghandi Hospital did not have an ICU, Imagine , No ICU and you serve a community of millions of people. Lets just say the Doctor made a Wrong call. I heard that a bigger mortuary was being built in the hospital, Why ,re they planning to put more in the Morgue ? Sometimes you be gifted with a good memory and you become a Doctor, but you do not have a compassionate heart. Other times you have a compassionate heart but you dont try hard to be a doctor. If only we chose would be doctors properly who have this balance of intelect and compassion.
