Poor care, Elderly people have to wait in huge lines for hours. Doctors do not give the best medication available but instead they distribute the median. My Granny passed on with Cancer but the doctors said she was fine for 1 year. They should have used their brains and given her a PET scan then start treatment. However they had failed in that duty and it cost a life.

Most horrible experience! Guards are so rude. They wanted proof that i called the hospital to bring someone in and insisted that they see my cellphone showing i called. What type of service is this? No social distancing. Public sector health department is absolutely shocking! No words. The state of the hospital inside wow !

I can’t express how impressed I am by this hospital. The building itself is in need of extensive repairs and maintenance, yet the doctors focus on the patients is intense, for hours, they are absolutely thorough and professional as are the nursing staff. The admin are efficient and well organized despite the huge amount of work that they have to endure. All staff are incredibly helpful and kind and empathetic. The quality of care that these good people provide, despite their tremendous workload is exceptional and excellent. Being a government hospital you would think that it would be a wreck but it is not. We are blessed and appreciative that we have such a good service for those who need it. Thank you to all who are involved in my partners care. I have absolute faith that this hospital and the staff are giving him the best care that he needs to recover. Big thumbs up.

Our day started very badly when I together with my wife went to Clairwood hospital and arrived at 5.45am for a periodic maternity visit. At Clairwood they sent us to King Edward without giving us any letter. After waiting for two hours while they were presenting a maternity symposium the nurse told us to go to Lamontville clinic at 11.50.I would have expected a little bit of understanding from them especially since my wife was transferred from a clinic to a hospital in Johannesburg due to a complication they discovered. The hospital is very overcrowded with no signs of where one has to go. People were sitting and sleeping on the floor. Toilets were very dirty for a healthy facility like that. The condition of some buildings needs a lot of attention. Nurses and admin need a lot of Patient interaction and care education. National Health insurance will be a total disaster with this kind of attitude from nurses but anyway it is just another way of getting extra taxes from poor people by our government

Can you please teach your staff at nursery about professionalism. The nursery is never in the room with the babies if something happens to the babies there’s no one looking after them. And when you need someone about the babies progress there’s no one. I don’t even know why I’m still kept here

Good DayI have never encounter such rudeness by someone that has to help the public. On the 26 August 2018 i phone at 12h41 to do an inquiry, how to go about with my referral letter. The gentleman on the other side put the phone down 3 times in my ears refusing to give his name. He worked at the reception i presume. I demand an apology from this gentleman. This is unacceptable no matter who you are or where you are from black, white,Indian or colored we need to be treated with the same respect.I will go to the news papers with this.Regards

Many folk out there have had horrendous experiences at the hands of our Health services. Many documented cases have resulted, rightly so, in high profile media coverage and whistle blowing. This has resulted in a generalisation of services offered at different institutions. I am in no way condoning or playing down these cases and wholly support the initiatives to improve the situation. What I would like to do is divert from the negatives with a positive and uplifting own experience.Whe entering the King Edward V111 hospital in Durban, the opening impression is doom and gloom with scenes of 17th and 18th century workhouses and doss houses coming to mind. The place is drab and dilapidated and looks awful.Renovations have commenced and are on going. The waiting room to obtain medical files is cold and uninviting. The gentleman who searches the files is an absolute gem and helpful in every way.Once you have your file and proceed to your ward for admission, you enter a totally different world. The ward is spotless. The staff are efficient and friendly. The equipment is new and well maintained.Check in and admission was a breeze.Had the operation today in a state of the art theatre.People dont generalise this hospital is amazing and made better by the awesome people who dedicate their lives to assisting other.A massive shout out to King Edward V111 hospital. Look past the scratches and see the beauty.Thank you staff

Well Done King Edward doctors and nursing staff and cleaning staff. N4A, you all ROCK!! WHOOP WHOOP. My Mom Mrs Kovacs was a patient for 17 days, discharged 20/05/2019, she was transferred from Albert Luthuli Hospital. Naturally we were filled with dread at the prospect of the transfer to King Edward. WOW!! The ward and the toilets were clean, the staff polite. Mom is not easy to please, but she cannot stop singing her praises for the staff and to name a few, Dr. Tlale, Dr Gumede (you are her Best star), Dr Sabaida, Dr Oliver, Nurse Carmen, Cleaner Thobile, you are a few of the stars. I named a few because Mom cannot remember All your names. The sisters in charge, Well Done. Never complaining even though you have to bed bath so many patients, never an attitude towards all the questions from family member. Doctors are on call ALMOST 24HOURS. Yes they actually work tirelessly in that ward. THANK YOU N4A, THANK YOU

My brother was admitted into casualty this morning 6:30 with referral from Wentworth hosp for burst appendix. Why on earth did the drs only decide to operate on him at 13:30. He has just come out of theatre and is in recovery with tremendous pain. I pray that there will be no complications or septicemia after burst appendix. Again, why did they wait so long before deciding to operate?????My brother is now critically ill, if it is because of negligence I wont let it rest. Burst appendix, and they wait 7 hours before they operate?????

Well Done to the hospital. My father Mr Khubone came so ill a week ago and he was given a premier attention and very well; from casualy to amu and then to ward N3B. The staff is ethically. I would like to single out Sister Dlamini from N3B who played a key role yesterday as my daddy Mr Khubone had been discharged waiting for us to pick him; we suddenly noticed that he was getting very weak and restless which we reported to her. Without wasting time; she checked his sugar level and noticed that it was very low; decided to give him glucose and drip. They then with another sister requested him not to be discharged as they were monitoring him. I followed up at night and was told he is responding well. Praise God for saving Mr Khubones life and God does not forget

I am so dissapointed, sad and confused.Yesterday I brought my mother as a transfer from the GP, she is known diabetic, hypertension, kidney impairment,..she had a private scan and was diagnosed gallbladder stones of which was the main reason Dr transferred her. When we got to the hospital we had to wait from 10h30-15h00 to take out the file and she was only seen after 16h00 in casualty by few doctors who were busy reading the file instead of examining the patient, then one Dr took bloods and discharge her, without doing anything to her then I was called to come and fetch her. The sister told me she has been discharged with TTO which we must collect on the following day because pharmacy was already closed, then I asked one of the male nurses to check what TTO written for her and he told me it was panado and buscopan (both as a stat dose) which she never had...to cut the story short I am sitting here at home with her suffering from severe pains because the hospital couldnt do anything about her gallstones..how i wish somebody explained to me what to do because no painkillers or buscopan is helping her.
