Perfect for events, small family dinners, a special date night. Good Value for money especially considering the top quality food. The staff are professional,well trained, efficient and friendly. Seelan overlooks the Waterfront Harbour and is simply perfect for brunch, lunch until sunset and stars. You really feel special when you dine here. It has outdoor seating and indoor seating as well as a beautiful bar. They have televisions inside which often play sport or important events. Seelan as a venue for events, is a wise choice. They cater well and set up everything to your liking. Sometimes there is a live band or dj present, playing music. Youll make such fond memories here!

We got vouchers to the place and it was literally hidden away. A level below the Balthazar at the Harbour mouth. The waiter was extremely friendly who could easily name the 6 dishes and 3 deserts for us which was available. We both chose the beef fillet which was lovely, add to that the mushroom and pepper sauces we received was a damn fine ways better than any other place we have eaten at. The chips were good, the onion rings i believed was killed by the cook. I dont ever remember eating crispy onion rings. Further than that I would love to try one of their seafood dishes. A single platter at R700 and double at R1200. I would be curious and would love to see if they match the price on taste and presentation.

Terrible service, average food but great location. Seelan is conveniently located in the Waterfront, surrounded by the beautiful views of Cape Town. The location makes the restaurant super overpriced. Service is terrible, waiters are very poorly trained and service is extremely slow. Food is average, nothing outstanding in the menu. The food doesnt seem nor taste fresh. The drinks are good. What really saves this place is the amazing set up in the waterfront.

We enjoyed a fantastic lunch of fish & chips with a bottle of Chardonnay. Its a very relaxing place to enjoy a romantic meal, in such a legendary and historic city. Staff was very efficient and the restaurant is clean.

The seafood platter was really well cooked however it was a bit bland. I feel they could have added more flavour to the fish as well. The portion however was somewhat decent but I feel they could have given a bit more. The presentation was poor and there was no effort put in. As for the dessert the brownie and cheescake were really good as for the malva pudding it was really bad and i do believe the texture of the malva pudding was not great at all. The staff did not do any check ups and one thing i will make mention of is as soon as the waitress brought the bill the first thing she brought up was her tip which was unprofessional. For overall experience i give it a 2 but for the location i will give it an extra stat because it is vibey and you always given a wonderful view

We used a hyperli voucher which got us a main and a dessert.The food was decent, nothing much to speak of. Prawns are always subpar (smallest prawns I’ve seen).Dessert was amazing. Service was okay and the ambience was really spot on.I would return but only with vouchers as the prices for the platters are way above average.

Nice place with great ambiance.. Very disappointing however dat they did not have da crayfish which was one of da main course meal choices, which most of us were looking forward to. Theres room for improvement with regards to service and id say da best part of the night there wud have to have been da desert.. Absolutely divine!

That’s besides the most amazing-lii awesome views of the One and Only New Seventh Wonder of the world “Table-Mountain” standing there in all its splendour! Even the Big Wheel is in full view right from the outside seating it’s just so breath-taking-lii surreal! You are never disappointed when you arrive here where the table settings are always very elegant with white table-cloths a small vase of fresh-lii cut petit miniature live flowers the napkins on the side-plates are of a superior quality-ii even embossed with the name “Seelan” on it! I have been there for lunch, and the food was great. I went for the recommendation, tbone + plus desert and both were amazing. The meat is really delicious and tender, dont add any sauce because it has a great quality. I tried other great steak house in the city, and I would recommend Seeland instead of oter one. My girlfriend tried the salad of seafood that was very good as well. The view of the terrace is great. The service was 5 starts, they even offer a desert to my girlfriend, since I had a menu that included desert just for me. It is a good option in the waterfront

It was our first time dining here and we enjoyed it. It was part of a wiki deal that I purchased and generally coupons arent redeemable on public holidays but the restaurant was very willing to accommodate us. The wait staff were very friendly especially our server. I dont recall his name but he was wonderful. I had a steak and my husband had a seafood platter. Our food was perfectly presented and tasted great as well. We had a trio of desserts for dessert consisting of a brownie, cheese cake and something else I cant quite remember now. This too was delicious. Definitely a restaurant I would go to again.

Great atmosphere on the side of the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront overlooking the docks. Menu is well planned with a choice for everyones favourite meal option. Good wine list with good locally sourced wines. Service is friendly. Staff is well dressed and professional. Enjoy the view of table mountain.

Fabulous food and great experience. Hats off to the manager on the evening we were there. The waiter informed us that it was a busy day and that they had run out a particular starter that everybody at our table had decided on. We informed the manager we were not happy. He went beyond the call of duty and told us that he would arrange the starter for us if we were prepared to wait just a little. In the mean time they topped the table up with their lovely complementary bread. In a little while the starters arrived and it was fantastic, definitely well worth the wait. This amazing service set the tone for rest of the evening which was fantastic. Five stars for excellent service and a great experience.

We used a voucher from wiki deals and this place did not treat us any different.We were warm welcomed and while they were preparing our table we were seated at the bar for less than 2min. We were then ushered to our table where we were provided with quite a selection for a voucher.Drinks came almost immediately, and could have it outside while we were having a smoke.Food came which was impressive, service was great although they did charge me for the drinks when it was part of the voucher, I didnt mind paying because I received Fantastic service, good food and wine.I will definitely go back.

I am new to Cape Town and decided to go to the very much talked about V&A Waterfront for a look around. While walking around I came across Seelan Restaurant and Bar. Not being a very adventures person, I was a little worried that I wouldnt enjoy the food that much as I have never really had Mediterranean food before. Well, I was very happy with the friendly staff and the restaurant itself was beautiful with a great atmosphere, the food just blew me out the water. It was amazing. Absolutely beautiful.

Interesting menu and wine selection. Our waiter had an Indian accent but, what we battled with in understanding, he more than adequately made up for in his attitude and service levels. Prices are normal for the Waterfront. Ambience was excellent.

The breakfast we had was imaginative, freshly prepared and really really good. One serving was haddock done in an unusual way served with eggs and the nicest bread ever. The other serving was French toast which was served with fresh fruit and honeyed pecan nuts - all very well presented with a talkative but lovable waiter in constant but unobtrusive attendance. Well done!

Had breakfast on Saturday morning my first visit. I chose the health breakfast fresh fruit with yoghurt honey. a croissant and preserve s. A pot chamomile tea. Very satisfied, with quality, presentation, and our jolly waiter Papa Joe. Looking forward to my next visit will try lunch. Ciao

Just went there with my friend the other day looking for an early breakfast at Waterfront. The place itself is neat and looks very appealing with a view onto the harbour. Waiters are approachable, smart and efficient. Pricing is reasonable and the quality of their products is really fresh, excellent. Wont hesitate to go back there next time. Went there for dinner last night - out of nearly all the wines we wanted and had to opt for more expensive blends we didnt know / want. When you pay R100 for a glass of wine, you expect the service to be on point - sadly this was not the case. Well below average service - our tablecloth was dirty. Steak was good but honestly not worth the effort to go all the way there - can get the same quality for a better price, better service and a better wine selection. Pity that foreigners visiting our beautiful mother city, has to put up with such below average restaurants.

The price did not befit the food. Certain meals were enjoyable while others were very unsatisfactory. The steak was raw and the imported beers were over priced. What was stated for the meals was a let down. A promise of onion rings and chips turned out to be a dismally small amount. On the other hand, the setting is beautiful and the service is impeccable as well as the choice of local craft beer.

Excellent friendly service

For a medetrinian resturant there is a very strong South African and Indian influence. I enjoyed it but my wife did not at all. A tomato based sea food salad with curry spices was definitely a strange and surprising dish.

Whilst everything served was very good, what disappointed me was that I was supposed to get a TRIO of deserts, which included the american style banana pudding, chocolate brownie tart and slice of baked cheesecake with the ice-cream, but the desert arrived without the Banana Pudding and when i asked the waiter, is it not supposed to be three deserts excl. the ice cream, he insisted that those were the three components (no banana pudding). Maybe it was because i came with a wiki deal? i dont know...i already gave them my voucher so could not check...but because of this, i will not return again.

We had a great experience at this restaurant. The food was excellent, as well as the view as we sat outside looking at the water and boats. Our waiter, Sydney, was so awesome, above and beyond. We will not forget this place.

I cant even express my bad experience with this restaurant from last Friday night. I have been to Seelan a few times when it was nice and easy vibes. However, this last Friday i went with my friends on a busy evening. It turns out, as black people, you only get proper service only when it is not full of white people. Being the only table with black people, we were clearly ignored for over 10 minutes and when we finally got service, the waiter was so rude and just not up to serving darkies. A lot happened in that period between when we set down, served and when we stormed out after giving those waiters a piece of our minds.All i can say is, i am never setting foot in this ridiculous restaurant and you Black and Indian waiters, you ought to be ashamed of yourselves. Mandela did not die for this BS!!!!

Would highly recommend you skip over this restaurant, bad service and horrible hygiene is not something you would appreciate. My family and I went here today, the cocktails tasted like it was mixed in dirty glasses and after lunch I have no doubt it was, found hair in my food and old sauce in my chocolate and ice cream, probably the sauce that never came with the meal. The ice cream also only came with a sad and dirty chocolate sauce after the second time asking .... melted. Even if you had a bad day 5 things are too much. Also dont try the wild mushroom pasta its just normal button mushrooms and half a shiitake if your lucky. How I regret these choices...

If i could, i would issue zero stars. There service is terrible, the food was oily and flavorless. Their staff have no basic etiquette on how to communicate with a customer.A reservation was made for a seat inside, upon arrival we were told that there was a private function so they could honour the booking. When i complained about a filthy tablecloth, i was told very rudely by a later that they did not any clean ones available. I had to wait 20 minutes for a beer.This place is really terrible and i would not recommend it to anyone.

Pathetic!! Firstly they need to update their menu on their website, food is outdated and so are the prices. Extremely overpriced. We had prawns and a T bone, i asked for medium rare it was borderline medium, no flavor at all! They told me it didnt come with a side so i was forced to order a side, when the food came, it actually came with a side, money wasted by a lie. The prawns, the menu states its butterflied tiger prawns, they werent, nor were they cleaned properly, lemon butter sauce was way too acidic, flavor was average for the R325 you pay and it came with a ton of rice that did not go with the dish at all. Extremely disappointing, if you want to spend R500+ please go to another restaurant

Was disappointed. They didnt have some foods and drinks in stock and the waiter didnt know what a mimosa was. We waited 15 minutes for a cappuccino which was more an espresso than anything. No hostess to welcome us. We had to find a table and hope someone notices us.Not going back there again

Saturday evening, really disappointed with menu choice. No beef fillet, no veal, no lamb, no creme brulee, R250 for a piece of Kingklip with 4 or 5 little pieces of veg, Malva pudd that was dry and bland , supposed to be served with custard and Lindt choc sauce.... Nope.. Served cold with custard and ice cream which was in a bowl with a huge chip (more like a crater) Cheesecake really odd, R70?! Overpriced and disappointing.

Ordered a simple penne Arrabiata from Uber eats. I received the wrong order- penne bologna. The food was so disgusting. Lathered in oil that leaked into the poor packaging. Like the worst street food. It had a terrible smell. I contacted the manager Chantelle, and I’ve never experienced such incompetence. Would not recommend.
