Best Indian restaurant Ive been to for a long time. The food was as tasty as in India (and as spicy as you wish). The chicken tikka would almost melt in your mouth. Great service too ! The waiter, Curtis, was both kind and helpful. The Covid menu was restricted but every single dish was a hit ! And as we ordered too much, there was the option to take home. Great culinary experience. To be repeated !

Worst restaurant ever been, the waiter James dont know how to treat a customer, I was with my family two childrens ordered and waiting for food and after 45mins the very first dish brought in cold as its been waiting on the chefs table for long, when questioned about the food the waiter was very rude and started arguing with me, and I ended up call for the manager and James ended up coming with the second food item, and I asked for the manager so where is the manager, I dont want to sit further and as whole family we got up and approached the manager and explained the situation and we walked out hungry as its a tourist spot, look like they dont respect the customer because every day will be different customers, shame on the restaurant and shame on waiter James, I hope the owner read this review and understand that how important every customers are and sort out his in house.if you really want to sort out look in to your CCTV footage, today Sunday 10th of October we entered your restaurant 18.00 and left so terrified at 18.45 goodbye

The food was good, but definitely not worth the price - I would rather go to my local Indian takeaway for better value. Was not a fine dining experience that you would expect from a restaurant at the waterfront. There was nobody at the front to offer us a table. There were only 2 waiters serving the whole restaurant. - the restaurant was out of the drink that we wanted, as well as didnt even have Indian Chai tea. The waiter has said that a lot of things has been discontinued due to covid.I would expect better service, better food, and an overall better fine dining experience for the price of this place.

I never write reviews for restaurants, but I feel like this place deserves it. We booked a place here for New Year’s Eve primarily because the view was great. But I’m not going to lie, the reviews I saw on google for this restaurant had me a little nervous. But I think it’s an understatement to say this restaurant exceeded every expectation I had. They had a special menu for New Year’s, and everything I ate was at worst really good, and at best fantastic. Not only that, the service was top notch. I sadly don’t remember the name of our waiter, but he was incredibly hospitable the entire night. Not a single thing went wrong. I definitely recommend this place for festive occasions. 10/10

The restaurant has such a lovely view however compared to Bukhara CBD, the branch at the Waterfront is disappointing. Our waiter was not attentive, unprofessional and did not visit our table regularly. The service was of a very low standard. Our rice was extremely dry and hard when bringing this to the waiters attention his response was okay and then went to tell the manager. Little to no communication whatsoever. The manager/hostess did save the day by giving us a naan bread to make up for the rice. She mentioned that they had microwaved our rice for too long. We had already finished our meal and were taking take aways by this point.I ordered the butter chicken. It tasted like it was standing for hours and being reheated which resulted in overcooked chicken that mushed in your mouth. Compared to the CBD the food came in plain white bowls with no presentation. Which is extremely disappointing considering how much you pay at this restaurant. There is no respect for the food or ingredients. No accompaniments like the CBD branch.Due to the bad service we left a R20.00 tip for the waiter. He did not greet us or even say thank you after we paid the bill. He barely said anything to us for the entire meal.People pay a lot of money here and to receive bad service AND bad food is not the way. If I hadnt eaten at the other branch I wouldnt know how much you are lacking.

When me and my family entered the restaurant we assumed that everyone would be polite and welcoming, but instead a man came and told us that kids weren’t allowed one one side. This statement is wrong as we saw a white family ( with two children) on the other side of the restaurant. It was also easy to spot that they put all the Asian guests on one side and the white guests on the other. This is a pure act of racism, they were also rushing our order. The food was good but the service was terrible. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone.

The restaurant is not on par with waterfront standards. The food is pricey, small portion size and the dining experience is pretty average. Not much had changed from them moving from the quiet town restaurant to the waterfront. The restaurant appears to be having the same challenges as before. Poor service , the food wasn’t bad in its entirety , but needed quite a bit of improvement . Stale Papadums and tomato sauce , should never be served anywhere period, let alone ‘fine’ dining restaurant. The waiter was all over the place and we waited a while to be seated even though the restaurant was virtually empty. All of the restaurants were jam packed in December , except this one. I’ve yet to find a good Indian restaurant in Cape Town , that doesn’t break the bank and that provides consistently great service and food.

An absolute terrible experience, unacceptable behaviour and total disregard for their customers. In the end, they had the audacity to request for a tip. Totally ruined our experience of Cape Town.I was going to go into a lengthy diatribe, however with such places I have minimum expectations of any positive outcome as they care less about customer service.Below is our experience and the reasons why you should avoid this place.1-waiter didn’t clean the food from previous customer under our table, he just asked to shift my chair. Makes you wonder about their hygiene standards.2-we waited a long time for our requests to be met, made a simple request for tissues and straws that was met after persistent reminders. Last thing you want to be thinking about in a restaurant.3–waited 10-15 mins for someone to bring our bill, in the end I was so annoyed with the whole experience, I went myself to the cashier to pay and exit immediately from this distasteful place.4-the waiter had the cheek to ask for a tip, knowing full well tips are for good service only, they provided appalling customer service. When I refused to tip due to their bad service, they made the situation from bad to worse by arguing with me and tried to claim their service is great and I should give him a tip - a totally unsubstantiated claim. Finally, if you are going to start debating with your customer, rather than apologizing or making amends, you leave them with no choice except to write this terrible review for others to take heed and avoid wasting their money.

My family and I visited the restaurant on Saturday 21 September 2019 while on holiday in Cape Town. This was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. The service was poor with only three waiters there of which only one was really working. Service was rushed and prawn curry was nothing like the description (disgusting). The bill arrived which amounted to R1,400 and the impatient waiter entered R14,000 into the card machine and pressed enter to the next screen to enter pin (this machine did not show the amount to be paid on the “enter pin” screen).About a half an hour later I realized that an extra “0” had been added to my bill and instead of paying R1,400 I had paid R14,000. A whole additional R12,600 extra. Upon returning to the store to politely explain the error to the manager, Mr FAIZAL JOHNSTONE, and ask for a refund, I was rudely told that their machines can’t refund on a credit card and I should return on Monday. This arrogant, and rude imbecile has no understanding of customer service or respect for a fellow human being and the situation soon turned ugly.I will never return to this restaurant again and would like to bring this sort of service to the attention of fellow diners.

Not so happy with BUKHARA Indian Restaurant at the Waterfront. Ordered a glass of Merlot at R75. Then asked waiter for another glass. He took ages to return empty handed and then informed me that the Merlot was finished. I then asked him to recommend another red which he did. When the bill arrived he had charged me for 2 glasses at R75 and another at R135. I then queries the extra glass of wine and a lady brought back the revised bill. I then told her that I felt the waiter should have informed me that the new wine was almost double in price. To this she just said said sorry. I then asked if she would charge me R75 for the glass as i would never have ordered it at that price. She then said yes she would but the waiter would have to pay in the difference. I then told her dont bother, paid the full price and will never ever go back to BUKHARA at the Waterfront.I felt it total manipulation saying that the waiter will have to pay in the balance.

A hugely disappointing experience. The service was slow and chaotic. We waited about 20 minutes for our wine. The wine (sauv blanc) was warm. Our napkins were brought to us about 10 minutes into our meal. The food arrived before the cutlery. The overcooked naan bread was served in a metal basket, and this resulted in the butter forming a big puddle on the table. When I asked for this to be cleaned the waiter said he does not mind the table being dirty. The food was average. And I have had some pretty spectacular meals at Bukhara in the past. Will definitely not be back.

Disappointed in this once reliable restaurant group. The service was chaotic and slow in an almost empty restaurant. Our wine took 20 minutes to arrive and was not properly chilled. A hastily arranged ice bucket arrived with a startling crash which helped a bit. We had to ask repeatedly for water and the food was not up to the standards I expect at those prices. Ice for the wine had to be grabbed from the ice bucket. Popadams were a bit stale, the butter naan was placed in a basket that dribbled melted butter over the table.

While the food was very tasty. The menu states that main dishes come with dal and a choice of Rice or Nan Bread. The dal didn.t come because they had run out. The waitress said that it was only a complementary dish and if they run out then we don.t serve it. My argument was then why put it on the menu as part of a meal that you charge a premium price for. The manager then spent 10 minutes trying to argue that we were being unreasonable to ask for something the menu states as comes included in the price. If you ordered a main dish in a restaurant and it say comes with chips and salad and you don.t get a salad do you expect to pay for their inefficiency in being able not to supply it.

Sa
Review №89

Beware, the restaurant has some weird policy that between 7 to 9 pm you will have to order one main dish per person. And they have some arcane classification of main dish and side dish. Thus all dals are side dish. Thus for a group of 4 people, you will have to order 4 main classified dishes and if you are interested then order dal or something else. Too much of wastage of food.
