This morning was my second breakfast at Cassia in the last six months. On my visit in April I ordered french toast for breakfast. Today I ordered an open omelet. Both times my breakfast was dry and unappetising. My wife also ordered an open omelet and her comments mirrors mine to the T. I am not sure if this were three isolated incidents and I sincerely hope not. The restaurant is still a beautiful and amazing venue and the staff very attentive. The service was excellent. A few previous lunch visits in the last few years were memorable visits with excellent food.

Took extremely long to before our orders were taken and served. Some guests compained that food was cold. Waiters did not always know who ordered what.Food not worth the price. R50 for a cup of coffee?? We were 30 people so a lot of money was spent. Never again. On the positive side. A beautiful venue and very friendly staff.

It was a chilly Cape Town morning, but the Cassia Restaurant was full of warmth, incredible aromas and beautiful fresh flowers. Each table has their own mini bottle of hand sanitizer, and they are exercising the standard health protocols. It is a perfect venue, to celebrate a special occasion, or to stop by for an incredible culinary experience. The food is beautifully plated, and tastes just as satisfying. Cassia have a good selection of options for children and offer high chairs for little ones. The staff are incredible and so friendly from the waiters to the managers. The venue is beautifully situated, on the side embankment of a small dam, which has a lovely centered fountain feature. It is a lovely venue and an incredible restaurant. Definitely worth a visit. Booking in advance would be advised, as the restaurant is very popular

What an incredible experience! The wine is great, the venue is beautiful and perfect for a winters night with its fireplace, and the food was spectacular! The venison shank was falling off the bone and the pork belly was out of this world! This was my first visit, but I will definitely be back!

Great wine, great food, friendly staff. Excellent hygiene. Tables spaced out well. Maybe it was lost in translation to one of the waiters, but I am sure the chef does not really need everyone to order their main and starter at the same time. (Especially when the restaurant is still) If I take longer to decide between my food orders, I will probably just have more wine :)

I have visited Cassia three times now (so my review is based on a average). All three times I could never fault the food, but I unfortunately must fault the service. The staff are not very friendly and service is a little slow. My last visit was the final straw. I made a booking in the week before the visit on the Sunday morning, and found a table way to small to accommodate seven people. Not only was I advised this is how Cassia usually does it, but was met with an attitude when it came to adding another table. The service takes away from the whole experience which is quite sad.

Really enjoyed this place with my partner. We had a Monday night date, it was quiet and intimate with really friendly service. Also a great place to drink with the girls or hangout with boys and reason to dress up. This restaurant is on the pricey side but the atmosphere and service are worth it. If you looking at a budget for two, start at R500+. There are more seafood options but the beef was delicious and would order it again.

We decided to book for their Tuesday date night special. You get a starter, main and a glass of either red or white wine for R395*. Their normal menu caters for all tastes and obviously they have a great wine selection. The food was good, the wine was good and the service was good. I would definitely go there again.

This was the third time we have been here. We have come back because of the service and quality of food we have always received in the past. Today was a bit disappointing as the service and food was not up to scratch unfortunately. It is still a great venue and I will go back there in future so I hope they can pick up their game.

At first, I was upset with the restaurant because we were only informed that the venison shank was unavailable once we were ready to place our orders (you need to inform people of these things as soon as they are seated/given a menu). However, I ended up ordering the 300g fillet with roast garlic creamed potatoes, carrot puree, baby vegetables, red wine jus and crisp sweet potato, and it was so delicious that I couldnt care less about venison shank.

Lovely afternoon spent at Cassia restaurant. We sat on the terrace next to the dam where wild Proteas are growing along the banks and ducks are paddling within. The food was amazing, we ordered 5 starters to share... Grapefruit salad, pork dumplings, pulled lamb phyllo parcels and mussels. And then desserts, vegan chocolate mousse with dark chocolate coconut truffles (out of this world delish) and butterscotch pudding. Great service and clean washrooms.

Maybe I was just the unlucky one in a million, but I just paid R225 for 150g sinew and 150g fat that was served as 300g sirloin steak. Worst steak experience of my life! Very good wine, friendly staff and nice atmosphere though. Unfortunately once bitten twice shy, will not eat there again.

While the menu, website and setting promised an unforgettable culinary experience, the service and food were mediocre at best - just enough to get away with the prices. It wasnt terrible, but neither were there any oohs or aaahs from our table. My slow cooked pork belly was pretty tough and stringy and while the crackling was fantastic, the meat itself didnt have that juicy, fall-apart deliciousness one hopes to get from pork belly. If Im honest, it was pretty dry and bland. The carrot puree was lumpy and topped with baby carrots - both the puree and carrots were ice cold - no heated plates here. All in all - meh, at R190.My dessert was the deconstructed lemon meringue pie - another disappointment. The burnt meringue made me think I was going to get actual French meringue crisped on the outside and soft and gooey on the inside, but alas, it was a few small hard meringues (the kind you can buy at the Spar for R22.95 for a pack of 12). The lemon curd part was indescribably sweet blobs around a mountain of biscuit crumb. The other 5 people at the table all had similar feedback about their food. It was ok. I think they were being polite. The waitress seemed actively disinterested in us. You could almost see her shrugging her shoulders when she had to do something. There were no major issues and we are friendly people who keep smiling and thanking and so on, but she didnt seem to feel like it that day. When the fire was made with what looked like a bottle of petrol and smoke engulfed the place, the doors were opened, which let in an arctic cold. Once the smoke had dissipated, we politely asked if the doors could be closed as we were all really cold. The first time she said no, because the smoke needed to clear. The second time she said yes, but didnt close the doors, and the third time she point blank ignored us. Eventually, a customer from another table closed the door. Perhaps we shouldve given her the R250 tip.In summation, the wine was nice, the food was mediocre, the service was lacklustre. I wouldnt hurry back, as there are hundreds of other establishments to try that just may be better.

I had breakfast at Cassia before and it was lovely, so wanted to try dinner. What a disappointment! The dinner menu is extremely overpriced, and the vegetarian options are very limited. I had the one and only vegan/vegetarian option. It was tasty, but in my opinion R155 for a bowl of quinoa with 4 pieces of broccoli, 2 mushrooms and some sweet peppers and onions is way too much...My husband had steak and that was a complete disaster (half of the steak consisted of fat). He complained to the manager who apologised, but he did not even offer as much as a coffee on the house to make amends. All in all not a good experience, will definitely not go there again.

....Exquisite venue to be sitting next to the log-fire going on a chill-lii cold wet winter morning indulging in pure insidious delicious designer breakfast meals! We simply love this venue for it beautiful picturesque location on its own lake surrounding the patio seating! Since we have had good winter rain the whole world around here is beautiful-lii green and lush! Since our last visit we noticed that they have renovated and painted making this place even more cos-ii! Staff are very friendly and efficient! The meals are always on point! We even decided to enjoy a piece of decadent chocolate cheesecake after our meal! Every thing is always on it’s place and the rest-rooms are very clean and tidy. This is a place we will always recommend as we will always be coming back here in the future!........
