Chosen this branch for a family get together because of its fantastic views. The staff was friendly and the place was clean.Unfortunately the food was disappointing. We planned to order individual pans but thought ordering two platters, one for 2 and another for 4 people would be better value.Sadly the platter for 4 seemed to have significantly shrunk in size. My moms platter for 2 was in the same size pan as the platter for 4 but much bigger portions. The fish (baby hake) and prawns was cooked superbly but calamari unfortunately rubbery.Overall experience, ok, food & value was the let down.

Lovely views. Service lacks a tiny bit when its packed but then again, its been a while since they could be full house due to the pandemic. Order some more wine and take in the sea breeze if you do.

Ordered the platter for 2 (grilled) & the seared salmon salad to share with my partner - the food was 5 star, very tasty & great portion sizes. The view is nice if you get a seat outside or near the window. Staff were very friendly & helpful & the service was very fast & efficient. The only thing that wasnt so great is the atmosphere inside the restaurant. Its very sparsely decorated, and feels clinical & cold, and the chairs are very hard & uncomfortable - a few pillows, decorative lighting and some lively decor would definitely fix this easily. The bathrooms in the hotel lobby which the restaurant uses for its patrons was not clean - this is also an easy fix...

Excellent service. Very tasty meal, fresh and well prepared. Regrettably the bathrooms of the hotel in which the restaurant is located leave much to be desired in terms of cleanliness.

If you want seafood then this is the place to go. Lots of wonderful options for all seafood lovers, best tasty seafood around. Great food at reasonable prices. Lovely locating accross the beach with views of the ocean and surrounding mountains.

Had the best kingklip bites en prawns here. Simply delicious.

Better service than the one in gordensbay

Great food, especially the kingklip bites, but was disappointed by forced gratuity for my group. We were going to tip but being forced to did not sit well with us.

Except for the chocolate milkshake that was extremely sweet with lots of cream including charged us for it which was barely touched on their service was good we enjoyed our sushi and juice. Perfect atmosphere overlooking the ocean. Stunning view

I’m a huge fan of Ocean basket, the food is always good and the service is always fast. I usually order the same the same thing whenever I go. When I received my platter it had very different calamari tubes which did not taste good or look good. The manager explained that they now have a different supplier for the calamari and it was not in her control and many customers were having the same complaint. This review is for head office to please change back to original suppliers because the new calamari is truly horrible!!

Great food ,but waitress was not once at table to hear if everything was okay with us.Prawns was a little bit too salty ,as I avoid salty food, but otherwise good location and appetising food.

I have not been to the I ocean basket strand. There food is not nice and I will never go there. I parked there because I went to Twisted Scissors Hair Salon. Chantel Yolande are awesome. There prices are the best. R400 for a full hair streak, cut and blowdry.

It could be such a lovely eatery if they just had some imagination with the setup. You cannot ask for better location and the seaview is incomparable. The food was relatively good.

2nd time in this month that we have been here and the service is seriously bad. My dish came out cold as the waitress was nowhere to be seen. Beverage glasses piled up and was not taken away. Dishes was removed without asking if we were done. Food was however delicious as always. Please train floor staff to the older sranderds that we were used to.

This Ocean basket has the best view setting, the most romantic setting ever. You have to go see for yourself the pic serves no justice to feeling. Was very empty when we were there but the food was verrrrrrry nice.

We are in tough times and I do feel for restaurants and want to help them and therefore chose this one. The prawns were not cooked properly, the fish wasnt good eith not was the grilled calamari. The atmosphere and staff were lovely. Please do support them, just ensure that you have them check the meals before serving it and also ensure that you do the same when it comes to your table. Id definitely return.

Ocean basket food was lovely. The bathrooms however was filthy it was evident that they dont have any cleaning program in place for bathrooms. I visited bathrooms on arriva it was a messl and again 2hrs later and the bathroom just looked worse no one has been in there to clean

Summary: little accommodation of the disabled & scruffy toilets.The food was great and the service was satisfactory. So why two starts? Good question.My fiancé and I went for a lunch date there on Sunday because of the nice view. However, they do not have their own bathrooms, so their customers have to use the bathrooms in the lobby of the hotel that abuts the restaurant.My fiancé wanted to use the disabled toilet since shes in a wheelchair, but not only was there a bellhop trolley shoved in front of the toilet, it was locked. Next the guy at reception told us, ever so nonchalant, that there is nothing that could be done and that shed have to use the ladies bathroom.Now, even if one could get into an able-bodied bathroom with your wheelchair, the wheelchair will have to stay in the entrance of the toilet, leaving the person with no privacy.We decided to tell the manager and then just have her use the normal bathroom and hope no one comes in. The manager told us that usually when people call and ask about accessibility they tell them that there is a ramp, but no disabled toilet.First off, restaurants really ought to make provision for disabled patrons, but beyond that, there is a disabled toilet that no one can be bothered to put in order. I was told OB had been there six years already. And this is the fixed state of affairs?This left us quite unhappy, but we were sort of getting over it when we saw how scruffy the toilets were. Then this sort of became the focus of our disgust.My brother worked many years for Ocean Basket when I was a boy and he always spoke highly of them and I have gotten the impression generally as well that it is a quality institution. But this was a surprise.Again, the food and service gets a pass, but there is more to a patrons experience than this.

Ever felt youve been ripped by a meal we ordered the family fish platter for 560.00approx the meal on its arrival looked drye and tasteless we had our grand daughter here from Jhb where quality food of this nature is a treat. Shouldve gone to gone to Houtbay Maydon Wharf.
