We had a seabream platter for two when we got it, it was clearly a platter for one. None the less it was very nice. Our waitress Abigail first day but she did very well we requested extra chillies and we received it, they were also very hot which is what we wanted. Covid rules respected.

The new menu is not bad at all. I liked their new sticky rice dish with the prawn and mussels. Would definitely have it again.

We had a seafood.platter for 2 .. R370. Decided to swop to prince prawns for other seafood. No problem. Rice, chips and fish was perfectly done. All in all a nice experience.

So dissapointed in OB, had a dissapointing experience at Tygerberg OB(Walter) so we decided to order in at Cape gate OB takeaways, I requested for them to add the rolls and sauces to our take away dish, I was told the complimentary rolls and sauces are only for special clients sitting in and its not not take out despite of the costs of what you ordering. Complimentary that. So hearbroken. I would just like to order, pay and enjoy my food, but unfortunately OB has too many politics.

Ocean basket Cape Gate seems to be under new management, because I had the best service and tastiest meal yesterday.Previously I only went to Glengarry, but may return to Cape gate now that they have shaped up their service delivery 😁

OB Cape Gate felt like home from home for me and my kids, especially because we were celebrating my sons 14th birthday.

We request urgent service due to time management and was served asap.

The ambiance was good and the food delicious.

We waited forever and they got the order wrong we ordered the panko prawns which stated 6 on the menu and we received 4 also we ordered sushi for 2 which i think was pretty expensive and gave us soya sauce and ginger for one personvery disappointing will NEVER eat there again.

I love OB but not this one....management is not customer oriented was there about four times the last a year ago. I drive past this one from home to go to Glen Garry which is always busy and customer service 👍I am surprised this OB is still operating cause the time I am in the mall they always empty...and thats way before Covid 19

I really enjoyed our experience except for one incident that was very quickly rectified. Our waiter was super friendly and I like the new review system you have in store as well. I had the salmon bowl... Oh my word. It was cheap and pretty much the equivalent of a platter of deconstructed sushi for half the price! I loved it and will be back for it.

Absolutely awful. I love ocean basket glengarry one of my favourite restaurants but Cape Gate branch has terrible managers, no quality control, there food is not up to scratch at all , missing half the order. Maybe glengarry should give you some training.

Had the Fusion Crunch platter and some rose-flavoured drink that was divine. Atmosphere is a bit disrupted (they might want to think of remodeling a bit?) but the service was fairly friendly. Whoever does the sushi deserves a medal, though. Best Ocean Basket outlet for sushi!

This franchise store has recently gotten new owners and it shows! In a good way I might add.The food used to be noticeably fresh from the freezer but now thanks to the new owners (same as Glen Garry Ocean Basket) the food is fresh from the ocean. Even the veg is fresher than it was before.The new chefs also clearly understand how to cook the ingredients with respect and know how to make the sauces served. Long gone is the terrible, old and defunct lemon and butter or garlic butter sauce that just over powers everything on the plate.

Best spot for fish and chips in the general area. Great food, great service. Alex is the kiffest waiter. Cant go wrong here.

It could have been a much better experience seeing as it was Fathers Day as well. We were early before the crowd, but waited more than an hour for our food. Though the seafood was great and ample, the fish on the platter was so overdone you didnt have to eat it to see it looked horrible. Management attended to that part quickly and we got much better fish. The waiter was good, Maurice, but waiting more than an hour for food and people who arrived after us were already eating was not only a disappointment, but it put a damper on what should have been a great and special day out with my family of 4. Will likely not go back again.

This ocean basket is different than ithers because they give smaller portions than other ocean baskets at the same price. For example, i had the fish and chips. At any other restaurant they would give 2 fish but they only gave one at this place. Very annoying. Rather go to another restaurant or drive a bit further to another ocean basket. But the waiters are very nice and friendly.

Service and food was excellent. Will definitely be back! We waited maybe 30 minutes for our meals as the kitchen was backed up with orders but our patience was rewarded with a great meal.

It is a nice seafood restaurant. The waiter was very friendly and the food very nice. If you go there you have to try the saganaki (calamari tubes stuffed with cheese in a lemon butter sauce).

Food is over-priced, some overcooked. I dont think Ill be going back anytime soon. Two stars because the mussels still taste as good (but are way too small now), and the calamari strips were nicely fried. The rest was a bit disappointing, mildly put. Service was also very slow, coffee cannot take 20 mins to make.

Arrived at the restaurant. Not even 10 seconds of waiting and we were offered a table. Waiter came and introduced himself. After 2 minutes we ordered our food and literally within 15 minutes we received our food. Food was delicious and the seafood and fish fresh and made to perfection.

I was very pleased with the service here and the promotions which were recommended for us. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will be back here again soon.

No service there. Have been to them many times and only one time had good service. You get seated and then you wait, others who are seated after you is serviced quickly. Management needs to improve or remove.

Excellent food. Fantastic service. Had their famous hake with chips and rice. Plus icecream desert with chocolate sauce.

Quality of food has dropped dramatically yet prices have skyrocketed. It seems if u do not eat during peak hours you get leftovers or the food is made of leftover stock. Their little bread balls are delicious. Asked if theres more and got a no without any reason.

Friendly effecient staff and waiters. Very happy vibe, food good. Would like to see a choice for the modern fit lifestyle small chips, salad and small vegetable portion with grilled fish......suggested this but seems that Head Office do not get the message.

This was my first time eating at this OB. The food took a while to reach the table but it was well worth it! This day I also tried their Rose & Citrus carafe... It was love at first sip. Also, very friendly staff which is always a plus.

When served an Irish Coffee on Saterdae eve, close to closing time, the coffee was prepared wrong, I kindly offered the manager to give them the correct recipe, she was not interested. On my way to the bathroom I ordered another one, wrong be as it may, the kitchen was not closed but they were cashing up. I did offer to settle my bill early as Im familiar with the workings of a restaurant, having managed an Ocean Basket in my younger life. The never prepared my order ... The manager and waiter on duty shrugged their shoulders nonchalantly. I tipped the waiter 30% and left unsatisfied, not making a scene but making a mental note.

Worse Ocean Basket I have ever experienced to date.I am not one to fuss about food, and i did not to my regret. Nothing was like I expected it to be and as I remember Ocean Basket franchise. Spent alot of money at the branch and left feeling upset with my family.Fish was grilled and was not fresh at all, Mussels were of a jelly texture and chips tasted old and re-fried and prawns was served cold.I did not feel to complain then and there trying not to upset my family. Having regret to eating there amongst the rest of the other considerations we had.It felt like there was an elephant in the room that none of us wanted to talk about, We orderd 2 platter for 2s and it felt like i wouldve been better off going to my local fish and chips shop and saving a few hundred rand for a better experience.

Worse experience at any ocean basket we ever visited. Just the with the reception it was not well coming. Having seated for 7-10min without been offered drinks let alone the menu. Worse the tables were empty but we had shout to be attended to. Waiters didnt care were just busy with their cellphones chatting and laughing. The king Klip wasnt fresh the vegetables where not fried. I didnt enjoy my meal at all. Staff needs training or proper supervision.

Terrible experience at OB in Cape Gate. Ordered a take away salmon bowl (salad) and was not given any cutlery. Waited for 30 minutes for this take out meal. Apparently head office is still working on bamboo cutlery so in the meantime no cutlery. Manager, Shane has appalling customer service-didnt even get up from his laptop-just told waiter theres no cutlery. My first and last visit to Cape Gate!

I ordered a platter for one (excellent) and my wife ordered a sushi platter, mostly friend...her food tasted like it had been standing for a while. Overall, nice meal though

I have tried all the Ocean Baskets restaurants in the Peninsula and was pleasantly surprised at the service and quality of the seafood platter.Will definitely be back for more.

Nice service food good. The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable.

Tables are a tad bit small for a larger gathering meaning you have to book in advance, the meals are really delicious.

I dont live in the area but go to Cape Gate especially for Ocean Basket. The Best service, friendly and helpfull staff and best quality food.
