Beautiful relaxed atmosphere, perfect for families. The menu has great options for small plates and the chalkboard menu has the options like the chefs specials. Vegetarians will enjoy this place! The chef is very creative with the ingredients. I tried the battered cauliflower and the seafood pasta. I absolutely loved it! Great value for money! I found the place on Feastfox, and even though I had to travel 20 minutes to get there, it was worth it! I even got a free glass of wine with a meal!!
We always avoided Deer Park CafΓ© because its overrun with kids. I completely understand, its a super kid-friendly place. But we discovered Friday nights are when the littlies stay in, so thats when we ventured out for a meal. For an omnivorous establishment, Deep Park CafΓ© is super clued up and accommodating when it comes to their vegan clientele. We have yet to make it to one of their vegan buffet nights, but its on the bucket list for sure!We had pizza with cashew nut cheese, which they only charge R6 extra for! What even!? That is so cheap! Also, it is far and away the best pizza weve ever had. After some deliberation, we decided its a combination of the base (light and fluffy) and love (lots of it).Their tomato lentil soup is also super delicious and very hearty. Its easily a meal on its own. Sorry for the not so great photos. :)
Great spot. Great products. Lovely park. Burgers and pizzas look delicious.Only reason not four stars is that the drinks did not arrive at the same time, not even close. Most drinks were finished by the time the second group got theirs and my niece for her milkshake even another 5min later.Still a great venue and the delays could have been the exception to the norm.
Kid friendly environment, the best place to bring mans best friend. The service could be better. I personally thought the menu was great. I enjoyed the food.
Terrible experience! We are regulars at this park, at least 4 times a week!!!! No more ! Below is the first review I made which I am now amending, because my dog barked there was a whole drama ! THIS IS NOT A DOG FRIENDLY PARK, we had to leave without finishing our food and paid the full bill!!!!!Original review:GréÒt park and play area for kids and fur babies while you have breakfast lunch or just coffee.
Deer park is a beautiful place. But it gets very active with lots of people other than that its beautiful with the water fall and river you can sink your feet in and relax with friends.
The biggest bonus about going here for coffee or a meal is the lovely park for the kids to play in. Having said that, both the coffee and food at the CafΓ© are really good and they carry an interesting selection of deli items.
Really clean and such a tranquil place. Great for families with kids
Lovely outdoor and indoor restaurant ...super food..good coffees and friendly staff
Absolutely fantastic place . Dog friendly and even had a vegan drink option!! Super happy .
Had a lovely breakfast at deer park today. Great that you can bring your dogs (they also have water bowls for the dogs). I had a eggs Benedict which was well priced and extremely delicious. The staff are friendly too and there is a lot of parking opposite.
Lovely food and a great setting. Kids play area is a win with small children,
Tasty burgers and pizzas while your kids play in the distance safely
Beautiful setting, amazing to leave the kids in the stunning playground while you enjoy a tasty meal. Also dog friendly which is awesome. Friendly service too. Love this place β€οΈ
Great food and atmosphere - Dog / puppy friendly too :)
Fresh Deli goods and easy going lunch spot. Dog and kid friendly.
Great place to take the dogs and kids, we will def be back. The food was great, very friendly staff an all around lovely place and setup. We need more off lead dog friendly places like this in Cape Town.
Great family cafΓ©. Breakfast was excellent
Very nice for kids but the menu is extremely limited if you dont consume dairy and meat. Personal preference I guess but alot of restaurants in CT do cater for plant base eaters and to put one thing on your menu wouldnt hurt. Service was fine.
This restaurant is family friendly and a lovely place for children. My daughter loves it there
A really cool place to come if you have young kids. I took my 14-month-old nephew, and he had a blast. Didnt want to come off the swings. They have a child-friendly menu and organic ice cream. What more could a caring parent ask for? Ill be going again and again.
Tiny portions but nice.I had french toast for breakfast.
Had a lovely brunch at Deer Park Cafe! Service was great, food was awesome, children had a ball and the adults could catch up.Lovely little gem in the city.
Great service from Naledi, friendly and on the ball.
One of the best spots in Cape Town for young and old alike. Their food is good with plenty of options. Being right next to Dear Park means its a safe and fun environment for children as well, meaning hosting kids parties here is a breeze with a party menu in tow. Would highly recommend.
What a great location for families. Brunch was lovely, the food was excellent and the staff efficient and patient. We stayed on after the rest of the party left. The view are stunning too.
Great place for families with kids. Kids can play on their own in a fenced-in area while parents enjoy a good hot breakfast or coffee. The food is really great too and there is ample parking nearby so driving in is a breeze. Their all natural ice cream bars are amazing.
A really nice restaurant located in a great spot on the mountain side. There is a play park in front which is brilliant for families with kids and its pet friendly too. However if you are not a kids or pet person just sit inside. Some tasty food with a good selection of beverages however not the cheapest but definitely worth while. Parking is limited and can be difficult when the place is busy.
Great place to visit if you have kids, the playground is great and keeps them entertained for hours. Perfect for family weekend Brunch/lunch.Food is good, they have a nice limited menu and a couple of specials. Service is ok but can be slow at times.Nice vibe and a great outdoor seating area.
Been to Deer park Cafe around 3 times for breakfast now with wife and son. Great place for kids. Theyve always been very welcoming and accommodating. Its slightly on the more expensive side but generally worth it. We like most that the restaurant opens onto a Nice park with open grass play area with merry-go-round, see saw, jungle gym etc. Best of all its fenced in and if you sit outside you can watch your kids play safely. Relaxing and low key vibe where you can enjoy a slow relaxing meal sun or rain.
It is a quiet and enjoyable environment. I really love it
Lovely space with sanitizers on all tables
Have taken my grandsons to Deer Park Cafe and play area for 8 years now, they absolutely love being there! Staff very friendly and like being able to take our own little picnic with us as well!!!! Will always have the fondest memories of this special special place!!!!!!!
Awesome food. Great vegan options. Good cocktails. Enjoyable service. Just wish they had a smoking section.
Really good food and family friendly restaurant. Kiddos have a big outdoor play park. Doggos seems to be welcome too.
Something different, healthy menu and a Chef that makes sure u lick your lips after youve had your meal.
Great kids play area. Cold beer, decent breakfast (I obviously didnt have them at the same time!) Very friendly and welcoming staff.
Really liked their French toast. As an American on holiday its really different than the French toast Im used to so I liked that! Cool juice drinks too.
Great for families with little children and pets. Service was good and so was the food. Definitely a place to visit again.
Brilliant service & food. Beautiful kid friendly venue, chill vibe. Friendliest staff :)
What a pleasant experience! The restaurant hosted a Thai Vegan buffet paired with some gorgeous wines. The staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient and the food was exquisite! I would definitely recommend a visit to one of their themed buffets if they are all as pleasant as this one.
Loved having something special on my plate to eat while out with the kids. The view of the Mountain is breath taking and we made such good memories with the kids in the park.
We went for a wedding, and the hosting was really good. We didnt wait long for our drinks and the staff were very friendly. The coffee was delicious.
Location is interesting and food is good. But thats just it. Good.... not great. There is a public park next to it thats something for the kids to do but since its a public park I would not leave my kids unattended. The restaurant serves good food (the bacon is exceptional) but the coffee is just about ok. On a whole it leaves that sensation that I get from so many southern suburb establishments... pretending to be more than it actually is.
Great spot just up out if the city. Good food good coffee good service. Thanks
Great location especially if you have kids and/or pets. There is a very large enclosed play area with numerous play areas and equipment. The restaurant flows out to a large verandah/patio where you can soak in the view (and watch your kids/pets).
This is a really great place for a quick bite to eat, a slow coffee, a quiet place to work (except on weekends) and especially for people with kids. Its also dog-friendly, which is quite rare for places in the City Bowl! The coffee is fantastic, as are their baked goods. Their kids menu is really delicious and is packed with healthy classics. The breakfasts are wonderful and really good value for money.
Its very beautiful. Good for hiking, taking walk, exercise, picnic with family friends... Its mostly busy with walkers, but one should be careful as its also not safe. Very good with numbers
If one has kids, this is the spot, a large outdoor area where they can play. Attentive staff and nice food. Indoor closed combustion fireplace is a win!
A great place , with or without kids. Beautiful surroundings, great food and excellent service
Excellent food and service and good views.
So very much love this place. While it is mainly a family space I could see it opening up at night for a beautiful casual musical moment. Having the park there is a treasure and how to fully capitalize on it β-what a huge beautiful resource. Try the pizza π πβΌοΈ
Very warm and vibrant atmosphere. The food is excellent; tasty and well portioned. Itβs also a perfect place to bring your whole family - including the dog - as the children can play in the park while you enjoy your meal.
Great location both for freelancers who need to work with their laptops and have a caffe or some light meal. There is a nice kids area in the park. Not super kids safe because of some rocks.Pets friendly. Great staff. Nice food.
I had such a lovely meal here. Green Juice x 2 glasses, vegetarian burger, apple pie. Often the veg burgers are horrible but this was tasty and well made. Recommend
I really like their outdoor area, smoking section, umbrellas and a beautiful park. Service, cakes and coffee was good. I found they stock Fiery Dragon Ginger Beer which is great for summer. Dog friendly.Id avoid this venue if you dont like children playing and running all around you.
It was once really our most favorite place with our kids in the town center and we had been there so many times since 2016, but now we could not come back (we tried it several times) because of the significantly increased number of big dogs which are running unleashed over the playground, even on quiet mornings during the week, when particular little kids are coming. Dog feces on the lawn. Our little son is fearing the bigger dogs (in his size or bigger), in particular when they come closer than 1 m, maybe because of his disorder. We asked some owners to keep their dogs in distance to him, most times without success and reactions. The cafΓ© was a safe and relaxing place for us, with a fence surrounding the play park, but now its rather a dog spout area, also supported by the cafΓ©. Were have experienced similar behavior in other big cities like Berlin, obviously a global phenomenon.
Chilled family orientated place to have breakfast. Food tasty and great atmosphere
Great place to take the kids (or behaved dogs) to play in safe enclosed area. Limited but quality variety of food on the menu with friendly service all year round. Inside can be slightly noisy so would recommend sitting outside in the shade. Good breakfast/lunch/tea spot. Check their website for the latest menu.
Good service from our waitress. Salads was amazing! Kids food little bit unimaginative and lacking flavour. Great spot under the trees.
Fantastic place to take your younger kids to. Big playpark and kids menu should suffice. They have a daily menu on top of a smaller menu of standard meals. For a place which aims at the parent with kids target group, the food is quite good
Dog friendly and kid friendly with a big play area with free-running dogs and kids. The food is fine, but the real pull is the big garden.
Great atmosphere and food, super kid friendly, and really impressed they put our donation to good use and have started to replant grass in some of the areas that needed TLC. Its refreshing to see an institution that cares about all the aspects of its business. Keep it up!
Another super breakfast at a Vredehoek favourite. Happy kids in the park and happy parents with their coffee and delicious breakfasts.
A great place to go if you have smaller children with you. The snacks are nice, the coffee is good, the park and playground are lovely. Good vibes.
Best location for moms and kids when the sun is out and when NOT windy. Healthy food options and great friendly service. Not the quickest on delivering the bill BUT then load Zapper and that will ensure great experience.
Deer Park CafΓ© is Vredehoek. Full disclosure: I dont have kids or a dog... and I still come here on a regular basis. But be prepared for the kids and the dogs (in that order), theres a lot of unleashed love in this place. Also: my favourite spicy beans breakfast in town!
The zucchini rollups ended me. So delish! Thank you.
Great serviceDog friendlyGood menu (pizza delicious)Good value
