My rating keeps going up every time I go here. Theres the bar inside which looks awesome to chill in on a cold night. Ditto 1st floor, which is great for a dining party, and has a balcony as well. And theres the rooftop, with a chill lounge vibe with sofas and high tables, with a decent view. The he service is good, and the drinks menu is extensive. The food menu is varied, with a decent snack menu.

Love the new spot. Its really a beautiful setting with so much character. We were served by Rudy and he was so efficient and on top of things. Drinks came quite fast, food was a hit slow, but so worth the wait. Was delicious and really good portion sizes. Was so hungry and because it looked and tasted so good, forgot to take any pics to show you. Great selection of food and drinks. Definitely going to be high on my list of summer hangouts.

This place is lovely really enjoyed the roof top got to spend some time with the owner Pier and he was so friendly and accommodating. He is present almost everyday as he keeps the quality of food and drinks to the top. The look and feel is really special the cuisine is Moroccan and the happy hour cocktails is delicious and tasty. The staff is pleasant and friendly. Says a lot of some of his staff has been with him for 12years shows that he is quality and built a great community where they fee valued and loved.

Visited this restaurant with my boyfriend and our waitress was perfect, friendly, funny and welcoming.For the food, the absolute best burger I ever had - had the BMB burger and I have to say again, never had anything like it before. It was juicy, the bacon was tasty, the brie was just an oozy mound of goodness. 10/10 would recommend.Also, would recommend the bitterballen!Cant wait to go back.

Welcoming and inviting .. friendly greeting by front of house. Made our way up to the top deck for a drink and had the most engaging waiter chatting to us and sharing the history of the place.Plenty of seating with lounges and tables where you can relax with a vibey atmosphere …As we got cold we were invited to sit downstairs by the fireplace and ordered our food.We enjoyed some wine and chatted till our food came.. we didn’t mind the wait as we knew it’s because they were cooking for us not dishing pre-made food..Hubby went for the burger and I chose the line fish with lemon butter and grilled veg with salad. Both were really good.Overall we had a great outing and will certainly be back.

I had lunch with my friend and ordered the lime Moroccan cheesecake.The cheesecake didnt really have any lime taste. It tasted like a plain cheesecake. The cheesecake was on the more cake side of cheesecake. It was a good cheesecake. Would be 7 out of 10, but the fact that there was no lime flavour for a lime cheesecake makes it a 6.The orange was cut with a knife that was previously used to cut an onion so..... Yea. That was annoying.The ambience and vibe at the place was really chilled. 8/10.

Had a lovely glass of wine over looking the street at the bar as it was packed upstairs.Ill be back for some of the delicious food everyones raving about next time xxx

This is two reviews in one. After receiving no service at Cause & Effect we headed to Ricks. We were greeted warmly by the owner and even though the rooftop was full we were invited to sit at the bar. We ordered Negronis which were delicious. The barman and servers we extremely friendly and we had a lovely chat.Yesterday we returned for their Sunday Roast on the sunny balcony. OMG it was delicious. Again we received the warmest of welcomes and service was perfect. We shared a fish cake starter before getting stuck into our roast lamb and veggies. Whatever the lamb was roasted in (my guess harissa) was utterly divine. At only R145 a head I cant recommend it highly enough

Ricks Café is not only absolutely stunning on all 3 floors, but the staff are attentive and friendly, and the food is just to die for.My favourites are the Tapas platter, and the tajine selections.The beverage menu is fabulous! You have to go try the tequila selection.

Fantastic evening. Most amazing drinks menu. Covid conscience staff. The food was superb. We had the grilled squid and lamb tagine (the latter was hailed by the spouse to be some of the best lamb he has had). Best part of evening was excellent service provided by JP. Ask him for menu recommendations and be transported by his stories of his mom’s home cooked meals. Will be back.

We had my sons 21st celebration at Ricks. The venue its really cool particularly up on the roof. The food was excellent and the service fantastic. They helped us with everything from setting up a cake and presents table , pouring champagne for toasts and some charming waitresses even took the effort to carry presents. to our car. I recommend this venue for any occasion!!

Stunning interior design with a unique twist. The tiles and aesthetic are very Moroccan inspired. Very creative and delicious cocktails list with all the classics. Fully stocked bar with anything you could want. Drinks were definitely not cheap with the liquor with a generous pour and well balanced flavours.Pro tip: Make a booking to guarantee your spot on the upstairs patio. Worth a drop by for a quick drink or for a fun night out with the girls.

WOW, an absolutely amazing place. Based on the Casablanca movie of Ricks Cafe. The theme and decor and ambience transports you to a nearly forgotten era. The food is divine, well prepared and really delicious. The staff is professional and very friendly. Will definitely visit again.

A great dining experience on the roof terrace. Cocktails/bubbly and tapas followed by lamb shank tajine and red wine. Endless choice of drink and delicious Mediterranean cuisine. Casablanca au Cap. Recommended.

This place is fantastic! I havent had such good food in a very long time. One of the best places in Cape Town to eat, for sure!

We wanted to view the venue for a birthday party. Understanding it is busy in the evening, we thought we might be asked to wait. We were simply told no. There was no attempt to accommodate us whatsoever. No option to wait, no option to pop back at another time. From the doorway, we liked what we saw but we will not be taking 30 guests to a place that can’t even find a way to let us see the interior or space.

This place has a great vibe, decent service, decent food, and great cocktails🍸It is rather expensive.

Wow! SUCH a cool location - three floors, with stunning views of Table Mountain. Wonderful retro and Moroccan decor. The old location in Park Road was nice, but this is fantastic. Food was delicious and medium-priced. Good vibe, good respect for Covid rules. A bit noisy but thats to be expected. Had a super cocktail containing avocado, tequila and jalapeno peppers.

I had a great experience with my friends. The food was amazing and so was the staff. We had burgers as those were they only choices if you not into Moroccan food. Although they have a happy hour special there isnt much of a difference between the normal prices and happy hour prices. But overall it was a good experience

I am not sure on what basis one does not give Ricks a five star rating. The view on the 2nd floor deck of table mountain and the city below is spectacular. The food was incredibly tasty, and portions were very generous - really good value for money. They have a great selection of drinks, and one of the largest selection of tequilas I have seen in a while. To top it all off, the service was exceptional - our waitress was attentive and friendly, and the manager also checked in a few times to make sure everything was ok. Highly recommended!

Look, Im not insulting the food because its pretty good but their collection of gins, whiskeys, brandies, is astounding. This place is the perfect destination to unwind after work, and overlook the city. Also, the ostrich burger is nice, if you swop out the gorgonzola cheese for something less potent.

From street-level you might be fooled to think that this jewel is limited to inside only - that is until you climb the flights of stairs to the rooftop dining area to be suprised by a most awesome view of the surrounds and iconic Table Mountain.The menu is quite extensive in both food and beverages, with for someone like me a proper range of non-alcoholics and virgin offerings. Fantastic. The service is as efficient as can be, considering the amount of stairs from the kitchen (poor service staff, shame - at least they get proper exercise). I will return here, for sure.

Absolutely great food and an outstanding variety of drinks I have never even seen before from all over the world. It is really a delightful experience. A beautiful and friendly hang out spot in the heart of Cape Town, on the always popular Kloof Street. You can meet friends at the bar on the street for after work drinks, or have dinner at the restaurant on the first floor. Then finally enjoy some of their delicious cocktails on their huge rooftop for sundowners. Its a good place to be.

Ricks Café and bar, is a welcome surprise for any tequila lover.Speak to Lexi as you walk in, whose knowledge of tequila is unbelievable.The meals are warm and hearty, and there are some incredible winter specials on offer. You cannot go wrong by stopping in – if even for just a drink before you hit the town! The establishment observes very strict Covid-19 hygiene protocols, and the tables are spaced widely apart as per pandemic regulations.

Simple food, excellent and suttle flavours, a treat to ur mouth and soul. Everything on the menu is so good, casual lunch, and event , business lunch, or just enjoy a meal in a moment captured in time. Simply excellent and a favorite!!!

Stunning place. we walked past and while reading the menu the supervisor/manager? told us to just come inside because its all good so we did. ordered the Brie burger and the ribeye. AND LET ME TELL YOU. she didnt lie. the food was exquisite the chef obviously knows what he or she is doing. the staff were so friendly and accomodating. wish i could give it 6 stars. will definitely be back.

We were welcomed by the host to be scanned, for our temperature. We were not sanitized when we entered the restaurant. We had to wait 20 minutes to place our drink order. We had to get another waiters attention to call our waiter to place our food order. Our burgers took so long and our food was cold. Would have preferred to mention this to our waiter ourselves but he never came back to ask us how our food was. No one came to clear our table and we had to ask another waiter for our bill. Eventually got up to pay by card inside cause no one offered any service on the deck. The service was pathetic! I will not go back. In this day and age service should be 1st priority and during this pandemic we love to support local businesses, but Ricks Cafe Americain should step up their game.

Really great place. You need reservations to come here, especially on weekends. The place was packed. Food is on point and their happy hour is very happy. We had the Tapas platter and a couple tajines. Everything was delicious and we were stuffed. Only critique is how long it took to get the check. Sitting outside we felt a little forgotten and had to ask for the check 3 times before going inside and asking the manager to ring us up. Overall, the food made up for that, just an area they could improve on.

Great for the cold days! The bar has 2 fireplaces to keep you warm. Also a great spot for the smokers, pretty much everywhere in bar is allowed to smoke. The burgers are a great call if you are hungry, I also had a goulash soup before and it was exceptional! Good beer and wine selection and great cocktails. The decoration is classic and vintage with a morrocan touch. Good music and overall ambiance.

I was the first to try the Buttermilk Chicken Burger on the new menu and I loved it!The spice on the chicken is amazing and all the sides were just as good! Thanks to the chef and our server JP, we will be back soon! The new building in Kloof is also a must see👌🏻

Love this place. Have had many great nights here. The food is incredible- theres a number of vegetarian options. My favourite is the vegetarian burger. The atmosphere is good and the service is fantastic.

This is a wonderful place situated in a very nice area in a nice Victorian era house. The place has a great atmosphere to it. The food is wonderful especially the jalapeno poppers. They have a big selection of beer and gin. I would definitely recommend this place.

Finally reopened in their awesome new location on Kloof St. Nice decor in krepong with the theme. Friendly staff, awesome outdoor balcony and soon to be rooftop deck. Stopped by for a quick drink to enjoy the sun. Will definitely be back to try the food. Still not the cheapest spot, but the menu offers a nice variety that is different from the usual Cape Town offerings.

As others have said, the atmosphere is great! Despite being busy the service was also good and the portions were huge for the price, delicious starter salads, burgers and Moroccan inspired dishes. Plus, the chocolate samoosa is a winner!

Awesome ambience and atmosphere, great Moroccan food and very decently priced. This is a must-visit. Best is to book space on their deck and start a pleasant evening with a sundowner cocktails (or mocktails). Nice for families with teens or older. No play space for younger kids.

We had a long awaited date night at Rick’s and everything exceeded our expectations - the beautiful decor, the absolutely delicious food (lamb shank and ostrich burger), the cocktails and the amazing service. The interior design of this restaurant is a 10/10, they have created such a beautiful environment and as such I was so excited to grab a drink there with some friends. Unfortunately, the service was terribly slow and the cocktail of the week was awful.

What a fabulous restaurant! It sublimely combines the cafe style with the Moroccan and produces food that is a gastronomic delight. Whether you choose a burger or a more exotic dish, you wont be disappointed and its good value for money too.

I was saddened to see that Ricks is now boarded up - so many good meals and memories, but pleased to see a sign on a new building around the corner harkening their new home.. Im not sure when they will be reopening, but I will be sure to add New Ricks to my next visit.

Take your aircon with you this summer.Loved Ricks from the previous location to the next, the food menu however has been scaled down and I for one miss the goats cheese and beetroot salad, with that being said its the same Ricks feel but with a great renovated look.This new spot catches every sun ray possible and is ideal for summer sundowners.
