My burger was delicious and the chips were served hot and fresh! I will definitely be back to try the pizzas, because a few went past my table and they looked really good! There was a lovely play area outside and Im sure that when the weather is warm, all the doors will be open and there will be seating outside as well. The staff were friendly and the prices were reasonable.

The food was good valye gor money with generous portions. The view from the restaurant overlooking Stellenbosch mountains is worth spending a little more time relaxing. The only negative is the distracting conversations that took place amongst the waiters. Service was not as quick and efficient as it could have been.

Great food, big portions and awesome views

At first we were a bit apprehensive about going to eat out during lock down as we are safety conscious. We had visited DIE WINGERD previously so we were familiar with the layout and knew what to expect. However, the manager and staff go above and beyond to make you feel safe and welcome. Also, the food is yummmmmmm!!! I would recommend it anytime!

From an atmosphere point of view its one of our favourite places to go to. If you want a relaxing evening with your partner after a long day its a great place to go to. Food is good as well,go and support them to make sure they stay open.

Visited during a warm summers day, with stunning views of the mountains.The food was very tasty. Probably one of the biggest chicken burgers that Ive ordered, with chips and pepper sauce. Absolutely filling and reasonable for its prices.The one negative aspect was that the service was poor, being slow and not immensely friendly.Pleasant day nonetheless. Will consider returning only if Im in the area.

I had two dinners at Die Wingerd. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The first night I had Filet Espetada, meat was tender and juice and the portion a little to small for me. The jalepeno poppers was cooked to long.The Pizzas is pretty good and good value for money.From a drinks point of view, I prefer Rum and they did not have a decent Rum collection.

Its difficult to rate service when the staff contingent is at a minimum due to Covid-19. 3 waiters for 60+ patrons. The food was okay, a bit under-seasoned in some instances. Portion sizes were actually great for adults, but the children were left needing more.Nice setting if youre looking for a quiet-ish night out.

I had a very bad experience this evening since I was there the last time on the 6th December 2020. They are not consistent in serving in so much where quality and quantity is concern.I was very disappointed and wont go there again or recommend any one else there unless they can prove me they prove wrong.RegardsMichael

Pleasant surprise after spending late nights there in the old days as Black Bull. Now full on hotel service with amazing kids area, enclosed for the real young. Asked to even be served in the kids area which they did, a bit pricey on the happy drinks but the burgers are amazing and well priced, check out the pics

Didnt know it was at Protea hotel, would suggest clearer signage. But, Great view, Friendly staff, and Deliscious food. Restaurant filled up quickly. Wife had schnitzel - a little oily, but very tasty. Daughter had a pizza - belissimo. Son had rump and calamari - perfectly cooked. I had rump espetada - also deliscious, but more the size of a sosati - no more than 150g. At R155 I thought it was a bit expensive. Rest of food was well priced. All in all a great evening, didnt break the bank, and a lovely surprise!

Our first visit here was so pleasamt. The service is top notch, the food superb, the play area blew my siz year old away. The view breathless. The flavors of the curry awesome, and the portion so big that we still had meals for supperenough to enjoy. We came all the way from Milnerton, used our Entertainer app and will defenately be back again next time to entertain our friends. Everyone should visit this place at least before the end of the year

Situated in a stunning situation overlook the mountain ranges of Stellenbosch. The restaurant offers indoor seating, limited outdoor lounge type seating, a large outdoor play and jungle gym area and a small PlayStation indoor space - making it highly family friendly.The burgers and wood fired pizzas are delicious. The food was really bad. We normally go there often. But for some reason the food was not the same, from the pizzas to the rib and wings. Very very very disappointed.

Love this place...keeps coming back there.....had a great time for my husbands 60th birthday there....the guest was surprised by this little jewel of a place......the food is awesome, surroundings breathtaking...waiters busy as bees but attending to all our needs. Just the cocktails which is not available during the winter months.. is a bit sad...but you will see a lot more of us and our friends...keep up the good work guys...job well done.

We really loved this place. We were a grouip of 18 adults and we all were treated wonderfully by our waiter Andrew. He was always there when we needed him and he always attended to us with a smile.The food was great and the portions were bigger than expected. We had almost everything on the menu and believe me it was soooo good.I would recommend this place to anyone. It is reasonably priced and very good for parties and group functions.

Where do I start. We started off by ordering two starters. Stuffed Jalepeno poppers and a calamari. The poppers were burnt and after we sent it back we received a new portion only to realize that the second portion had no stuffing in.I had a rump and calamari combo for mains with a mushroom sauce. The mushroom sauce tasted like milk that was just heated up in the microwave. My rump steak that was ordered medium rate was brought to me well well done. The meat is also not matured enough yet to be served to customers.The service is average and the view OK. No problem with the manager or waitress but the kitchen needs a new chef. Overall a complete waste of my time and in a town where there is tough competition this restaurant is way below par.

Extremely poor. We were a professional body of about 30. Zero management. Severely understaffed. Some colleagues food arrived two hours after our arrival when most had finished. Some had puddings as takeaways they were so late. No steak knives for steak dishes. One dish returned with hair in it is and burned.My steak ordered rare arrived almost well done. Could not bear another wait to return it. Alfonso tried his very best and no reflection on him.

One of our favorites. the kids love it. Good food and wine. Great service. We had no booking and they were full however the waitresses all were very accomodating Took our orders while we sat outside and our food was ready by the time we had a table inside.

All in all one of the worst experiences of my life regarding restaurants. The first seat we got was outside hoping to enjoy a nice drink with the view. The table we got was still full of dirty dishes and straw papers lying around with flies enjoying their stay on all of these objects. The plates and glasses were removed per request because there was no effort being done to remove it when we arrived.Kudos to the milkshakes, it was the only thing that was brilliant, thank you.After receiving our main courses, I looked around the restaurant to see how everything is set-up etc. I was quite disgusted by how some of the empty tables looked. On each and every one of them there was still food-pieces, salt and pepper and papers lying on the tables (that has already been set-up for the next customer) Long story short all the dirt was thrown on to the ground under the table.The food looked nice, Im not going to lie.I ordered a Wingerd Burger with Cheese Sauce. The sauce tasted like old-cheese and mixed with hell of a lot flour.... didnt finish my burger.The ribs and chicken barrell that my fiancé ordered was cold and tasted as if it was made a couple of days ago and just served like that.All in all one of the worst experiences regarding restaurants. Will not recommend to anybody.1 star = 0 star.

They have good food but the waitresses need to up their game. We eventually had to ask the manager for the drinks/wine menu. They have a nice fire place as well.

My husband and I tried to have lunch at Die Wingerd to no avail. When we arrived we were told the restaurant is fully booked. We understood despite the restaurant being empty, with what looked like 5 occupied tables. My husband jokingly asked, are you sure you cant accommodate 2 ppl, but we were turned away.We sat in his car for 10 minutes looking for a place to eat and eventually found a restaurant close by. While driving out of the complex the restaurant is in, my husband phoned your restaurant. Jp said... I need a table for 2, can you accommodate us or do i need to make a reservation. The woman who answered said, no sir you can come in.I was dissapointed. He said, thats strange, because we just left and you told us you were fully booked.My family eats out, I love food, flavors and trying out new places and today, I felt like I had been discriminated against. It was disappointing being turned away to only find out that you could have accommodated us. I assume it has to do with staff incompetence and not anything else. Just based on this, Id rate Die Wingerd a 0, unfortunately 1 is the lowest.

Im currently staying in the Protea Hotel and some nights I eat at Die Wingerd. The staff have a negative attitude towards government employees and they take long to process orders, waiting period for food is longer than 45 minutes.Tables get reserved for paying customers and the government employees are forced to get take aways.Yes the food is great but the service leaves much to be desired!

My wife and I have been here few times. The view from the restuarant is stunning, overlooking the De Zalze golf estate. The place can be quite busy but it was nice and quiet on our last visit.The food is mostly good but my wife complained about her pizza being too oily on our last visit, my salmon pizza on the other had was great and would definitely recommend it!

The view from die wingerd is priceless, but the service is really bad. We reserved a table for lunch, but when we sat down all the waiters ignored us. Eventually when we managed to place our order the food took 55 minutes to arrive. The cappacinno ordered also took 30 minutes. The food is good, especially the pizza, but be prepared to wait an hour for your food.
