This is a great hidden gem. Fun to go there with a few friends and have a nice relaxing intimate time. They have a great selection of games available to play and the feel you get from this place is really something to experience. Love coming here to get out of the bustle of other much over crowded places to relax a bit.

Lovely place for beer

Great service here and great food as well. A little on the pricey side but I had a great time in this cozy little shop and some really good food and drinks.Had great fun here with my friends and chatting to the staff, they are great people.Definitely going back next time Im in Stellenbosch.

Especially nice and cozy, small but very nice vibe, and very very pretty. Almost integrated into old housing with a great old tree on the street separating one table from the rest which I was fortunate enough to sit at.Good variety of beer on tap, with their own house lager too! Best of all... No castle light available!! Also with a few nice bottled crafts available.Definitely a favourite

I really love this tiny bar. The food, the people, the atmosphere - its all great. You can go sit here with a group of friends, or even by yourself, and end up meeting new people and being the last to leave. The food is delicious and the bar prices are good. Definitely worth a visit.

This small bar, has a cosy feeling, home away from home. Good venue for relaxing meet ups and catch ups with friends. This venue is lets you feel far enough from the Stellenbosch crowds but itself is situated in the heart of Stellies.

What a laugh this place is. Seems like the later you go, the better, especially when they have live music on. The barman was very obliging and went to special effort to make up a drink for us, despite being run off his feet. Cheers.

This is a really great tiny restaurant to come chill and have a beer or many glasses of wine with friends. It feels super cozy and youll forget about everything else for a while. The roosterkoek is amazing, you cant go wrong really.

Great vibe, very cosy and intimate. Youll have to go early if youre looking for a table. Drinks are a bit pricey but nothing unusual for Stellenbosch. Food isnt really special and I would advise eating before you come.

Genuinely plesierig and excellent value for money, with none of the culinary pretentiousness for which Stellenbosch is infamous, a very unique & special place in the heart of Oude Skellembos. My ancestors, the Schmals, German Jews, built this building and the houses next door in the 1600s. De Stomme Jonge has kept the spirit of innovative anesthetics (for which the Schmals were known) alive, more than 300 years later. Dankie!

This is where you will feel a mix of the local, student, tourist and cape dutch vibe with the best roosterkoek and beer in town.Perfect to wait out traffic after work, or a Friday night dinner (Make a reservation for dinner time).Also discovered they happen to have the best brownies around.

A warm and cozy little place that serves roosterkoek, making for a unique dining experience. The Stomme lager is delicious! Unfortunately little and not very spacious seating, but it adds to its charm. Situated in a beautiful area at the end of Ryneveldt street. Great for drinks with a few friends as it isnt too expensive and doesnt get too noisy. Also, the heaters on the stoep means its comfy, even in the winter!

A quaint and intimate place that offers a very nice platter-de sommer jonge. Definitely a place worth a visit. Be warned though - you will find smokers inside the premises. The owner, a pleasant chap, said that he allows smoking inside because it feeds the bill. So if you are happy with the lingering smell of smoke while munching on reasonable quality food, this is the place for you. For the non smokers, there are definitely better alternatives.
