Funky place and environment so cosmopolitan and super safe. A great meal mussels prepared in a different way but nice and chicken peri peri was great. We shall be back 👨🍳
I ordered an Uber eats with you.. I had ordered oxtail with dumpling.. my bread was so old and dry I couldn’t break it without the whole thing falling apart, the pieces from the oxtail were so hard to eat and not tender.. I’m very disappointed especially because its expensive and I was really looking forward to it.. hae guys!
I was job hunting for a holiday job at that place. Very unprofessional, this guy did interviews looking like he hasn’t bathed, laying in his bed, whoever he was asked irrelevant questions right after I told him I didn’t have experience as a waitress in particular, but I worked at a restaurant prior. I don’t know if my English was not clear. These people wasted 2 hours of my time just to tell me I will not be hired. They were rude, the waiters didn’t respond with speed , the staff was dragging their feet, it was dirty, the uniforms were untidy. The food looked delicious though , I’ll give them that. Treat others how you want to be treated, the wheels are always turning.
I had awesome food, love the taste just did not have good salad dressing. My friends did not like their food unfortunately, the girls loved their drink(some nice virgin cocktails) I got Orange juice and it tasted like it was diluted and sugger was added, I told one of the waiters he took my drink but never came back. We were done eating so it did not bother me much. But the food awesome..just live their food
Great place for an intimate meal with friends and family. Kids are well catered for. Staff super friendly. Meals will take you back to childhood.
I love the African theme of the establishment, the live music is a cherry on top 👌🏽
Never disappointed here! Great atmosphere... Lovely cosmopolitan space.. Great African cuisines, and music, especially if its the Marimba Band banging eloquently local music.. Lovely vibes indeed
Recently went back and their service and Lamb Shank was exceptional compared to an earlier time.
I got the worst experience ever. The service was bad.It wasnt really busy today but it took time for any waiter to attend to us. The one who served us was like ,Im coming back guys or lemme just help you now or I will forget like how can you forget a customer. The glasses in which we received our drinks in werent really clean. The food took a very long time till we considered canceling thats when they apologized and we got our food.I was very disappointed shame
Food was mediocre. Service was poor. The young lady who served us stood in the middle of the floor and chastised us by yelling to her colleague and speaking in her language that she was dissatisfied with the tip we gave. Unknowingly, there is a 10% tip policy that is not written or displayed anywhere. Therefore if you are a tourist you are unaware of this policy. Her service was mediocre. She rushed us through the entire order. That being said we still offered the 10% tip despite her rude and unacceptable behavior. I would not recommend anyone to eat here. There are a few other restaurants in the same vicinity where the food is great and they offer service with a smile. Pata Pata is overrated and staff needs customer service training.
Super good food in Maboneng. The kind of place you see locals. Very nice coffee and restaurant. They have many yummy options in the menu and cocktails. I took the Pata Pata burger that was inside the “light meals” section and it turned out to be HUGE and came así with super good hand cut fries. The burger was very good.Might not be the cheapest, but it’s worth it.The service was very kind and fast. They deserved the tip! The place is very nice and with big tables for big groups. They’ve got free WiFi.
Pata Pata is known by all. Very good for a good piece of meat properly cooked and seasoned. The decor and place is simple yet trendy. The staff is knowledgeable and gives good advice.Great choice of wines and champagne.A great place for friends diners and girls night out.
The vibe is good, the food was cold when it finally came after waiting for a long time. They can improve on that. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
They were one of my favorite restaurants, until they double-charged me on a R480 bill, confirmed to have seen the issue, promised to refund me, and never did.I have attempted contacting them, and each of their platforms leads nowhere, and their manager is a fraudster.I will never go to the restaurant again!Im sure they have done this to other customers, and will be served papers by our legal team.
Friday night at Pata Pata had a great vibe, thanks to the artsy location and live Jazz music that actually was the star of the evening. It was quite busy and waited a few minutes for a table. I would suggest getting there a little earlier, because as soon as the band sets up people will be less inclined to move after their dinner. The menu has a lot of South African favorites. Our steak was over done and the oxtail was tough but the sauces were great. I have to say that for the price we were let down by the quality in preparation.A glass of wine: R45-55300g Steak: R140-R160Steak toppings: R45Sauces: R35Dessert: R 40-R50
The service was really not up to scratch. The waiter made us wait for such a long time to get our drinks - simple soft drinks at that. On top of that, we had to wait forever before getting our meals. We decided to order our shakes while eating, those arrived waaaay after we had finished our meal. Their chocolate milkshake was really bad, and when I made them aware that the milkshake was too weak - basically like water, they decided to add ice cubes to the milkshake.
Amazing south african traditional food. Great service and well kept clean. Highly recommended
Good food and our waitress was great. Enjoyed spending my time with friends here.
Perfect for date night during the week. Its a proudly South African restaurant both the food, the music and the candles for lighting. If you are a true latte love, keep away from there latte.
Friendly staff and amazing burgers!
Horrible service! The food takes forever, even a simple drink takes 15 minutes. Their plastic menus are falling apart & dirty - you can tell they don’t replace their menu’s nonetheless wiping them. The worst part of the day was the waiter literally told us to leave because he wanted to seat down other people - that was extremely rude & uncalled for!We hadn’t even paid yet. They need to train their staff etiquette & decency to their customers. Truly disappointing
I am appalled by the service my partner and I received at Pata Pata. We waited for about 30 minutes to be attended by a waiter who notified us that they will attend to us soon, but would pass our table each time. Even when we approached the second waiter, they shunned our presence at the restaurant. I dont see myself stepping a foot at that restaurant again.
The food was awesome!!!! Love the vibe and feel of the place😊
The steak I ordered was way below average in terms of taste. I mean it was screwedup by the oil and tasted like it was cooked in the same oil as the chips. I honestly did not enjoy. However, the vibe is nice.
Had such a beautiful experience at this restaurant. Beautiful food was served while sitting outside (outside tables) the restaurant. Music was buzzing around and the scenery quite lively with people walking in and out and around Maboneng Precinct. Its a market place where creatives come together and have a great time. Its interesting how when we were sitting there, youd just hear one lady burst out a song and belt it out so beautifully. I swear, you might just witness random acts of performance and creatiness. I love it here.
Was there for a late lunch on my birthday, loved the food, caters for both meat lovers and vegetarian, the waiters and waitress were all friendly and catered to all our needs. There was a band playing lovely music and sang a S/O song to me for my birthday, made it super special. Would go back any day. Thank you Pata Pata
Food was good although service could have been better, they were friendly though, sat by the corner near the windows, the curtains or whatever they have by the Windows were really dirty
Great Food. Great LIVE music.
The food was terrible the mleqwa chicken was highly salty the borewoes so dry & sourish l swear it was stale waiters hve no customer care at least l liked the music
If you’re going to sit inside, know the music is so loud you can’t have a respectable conversation with your people, be prepared to scream at each other. Beware the cigarette vending machine, don’t sit anywhere near that thing. The smell of cigarette can ruin your time. The menus are falling apart. The biggest one was waiters not wearing masks. That made so uncomfortable I wanted to leave 😏
This place has an amazing vibe about it, be it indoors or being seated outside- theres a liveliness to the place. Sadly it doesnt translate to their menu, they have a great variety of food but nothing out of this world for your palate. Maybe their oxtail can hit the spot but thats about it for me. Their cocktails on the other hand are magnificent.
Lovely ambience, enjoyed the live band and had the best waitress ever. Shout out to Maggie! Ill be back just because of the service.
I got there super excited to see that they have Soweto Gold beer on tap.. But all the excitement went straight to the drain when the beer had a sour taste. So it was OFF.. nothing was done about it not even 1 manager came through to apologize for not cleaning their taps properly nor for not tasting their beer on taps before service . .. I was given my money back, the woman that was there, I assume was a manager on nothing didnt even show remorse or any other thing. Wow Im extremely disappointed and will never recommend that place to any of my close friends.
Refreshing place to chill and eat home-cooked professionall meals. Loved it😘
Good music, homely atmosphere for adults like me
African dining experience, complemented by contemporary music. Simple yet effective set up
Great service and they have live performances which I enjoyed. The food was great
The food was delicious albeit a little pricey and the service was excellent, but the music was way too loud.
Exceptional quality meals. Fantastic service.
Very nice place but the music was too loud couldnt hear each other talking. If they turn diwn the music a notch then this is an excellent place to go to.
The live music n vibe was just awesome!
Very chilled place to go on an intimate date.
A bit pricey but worth it! Atmosphere, drinks, music, food, staff, all excellent. Loved it! I definitely recommend
Waiter was very nice.the drinks was nice but the food terrible
It wasnt welcoming opened the door myself went straight to the table couldnt even get a menue for almost 30 minutes until l left will never go back there or recommend someone
Its amazing, serving urban cultural food from the black community... Situated in the heart of maboneng, you wouldnt miss the experience maboneng has to offer
Expensive. The stuffed chicken breast and lamb shank were not to my liking. Great ambience though and lovely place.
Well, I will def go back again. The vibe there is just great. The food is great and the staff are wonderful. The live music is the attraction of the place for me, especially on a Sunday evening.Go try it and u will thank me later.
Great place from owner, staff and nice food
Omg I have never in my life experienced such terrible service. We walked in without anyone to welcome us, we had to find our own sits. I had invited friends from Pretoria for dinner and apparently it was the bosss dinner or something. They forgot our order for a whole hour. Drinks took 30mins to be served I mean whats difficult about taking a beer from the fridge. My husband had to wait an extra 35 minutes for his food while we were eating already.
