Dont buy from this place!! Im so disappointed and disgusted. I used to drive all the way from Northcliff to buy their food but yesterdays platter for one, was disgusting. Firstly, the food was cold when I arrived to pick it up(I didnt even receive a call telling me its ready). On my way home, there was this bad smell coming from the box. When I arrived home, I realized why. The calamari strips and heads are off🤢!! One of the mussels was grey🤢 the prawns were dry and the fish was just bland. The salad was so disappointing with its stale cucumber and tomatoes🤢.

The sushi was great. Service was good. small eating area - nice and cozy I guess?I’ll try another visit before I give away the fifth star 😀

Two of us went to Ocean Basket Emmarentia on 1 Jan 2021 for lunch and we were quite disappointed with the service. Everything took so long, the starters, the main course. No one checked up on us once we received the food. There was only one other table occupied so it wasn’t even that the store was busy.I was also rather disgusted as the mussels were not cleaned properly. The strings that are usually on the outside of the shell and are cleaned before consumption were inside the mussel, mixed in with the mussels itself and the sauce. It was disgusting and off putting and we are very disappointedWould not go back here in a hurry

Very very poor service. I had a complain about the service and spoke to the manager, he took my number down to give to the owner and I am waiting till today for the owner to contact me it’s been more than a month. Pathetic service.

Fish was semi fresh little rice and half fresh chips, in these saving money times def wonf be buying from this ocean basket again.

The OB recently opened and the new decor is the fresher take - quite nice.The food was tasty and fresh.Ordered the family platter, sushi and kids fish nuggets. Only gripe was that the kiddies fish had bones.Give them a try. They foods good.

Great food and always top quality. Manager/owner very sweet and helpful. We went to celebrate the purchase of our new flat and the vibe and food was great. The manager/owner even brought extra garlic butter sauce. This is probably the 3rd or 4th time I have eaten at this ob and so far nil complaints. Keep its up!

The owner and waitresses one of which her name was Abigail was absolutely friendly and absolutely welcoming, the food was marvelous and brought to us at a well timing. Only disappointment was the buns thats it coz it was hard and tiny but it wasnt a put off at all because everything else was amazing, the food, the sushi and the dessert, Jazzakallah and thank you for the wonderful experience, will definitely will be going there soon 😁😌

Quality of the food was great much better than other OBs, manadger was friendly, staff were great. Covid 19 protocol was in place with social distancing. Lovely experience as the restaurant was clean and had a great atmosphere. Please remember waiters dont get a salary they live off tips to please be generous when tipping. Will definitely visit this store again.

Not at all what i know OB restaurants to be!No bread rolls garlic, chillies and tartare sauce brought to the table. Waiter was non-existant and my friend waited for about half an hour to get her food AFTER I GOT MINE.I was not impressed at all

We frequently dine at Ocean Basket Emmarentia and happy with the service and quality.This evening however we had a really disappointing experience at the restaurant.We understood that the restaurant was really busy and the service was really slow and delayed.We waited a while for service and when our food arrived after a long wait it was really unsatisfactory.The fish was so undercooked n it tasted raw.We tried to eat it but further on it tasted worse and so we complained.The fish was replaced with a half size piece of the original fish we were served previously with no apology from a very present manager/Owner.He was very aware that there was a complaint and he should have addressed it ASAP.Lotsa excuses given by the waitress.A review was requested on a visible review snap scan box on the table and we gave one honestly because we were so unhappy with the food.The manager/owner was walking around mingling with other customers but not once did he approach our table to ask us if we were ok or if our complaint was attended too.On our way out this very manager/owner of this establishment confronted my husband OUTSIDE his Restaurant on the pavement in a really arrogant and rude tone saying Did you review my restaurantThen blatanly denying that there was a problem with the food.No apology or remorse at all.His approach was so defensive.Why approach us outside the restaurant?Was he scared that the other patrons would see his behaviour and hear our complaint? To avoid a confrontation and argument my husband walked away.Is that customer service?You cannot make excuses for poor quality and service.If you cannot handle criticism then please DONT request a review.Thank you Ocean Basket Emmerantia.Your establishment has just lost a loyal client.Please learn to treat your customers with respect and goodness as they are paying you for a service.Unhappy Clients.😒😒😒

We’ve been to Ocean Basket Emmarentia for the second time today and the service and food was excellent on both occasions. The same waitress assisted us, Sammy and she is a gem! I love the store location and ease of parking right in front of the store. I have to add the portion sizes are great 🌟 I highly recommend this store if you want an authentic OB meal 👌

No smile or greetings on arrival didnt feel like OB that I go allover SA that was my first and last visit to OB emmarentiaI was going to order main course but I decided to walk out only bought starter and sushi plater

I’ve eaten here before and the food was satisfactory, however my last visit to this establishment was “salty”. I ordered a full deck platter. The calamari was like rubber and all the food was extremely salty. I asked to speak to the manger but he was not interested in chatting to me. I paid the bill and left. Probably won’t eat here again. Not because of the food but due to the no care attitude of the manager.

My favorite seafood restaurant is Ocean basket.This branch is cosy and inside is nice, specially flowers inside. But the door and outside not that great looking.Food was nice though they did a small mistake in our order but we dm found out only at home! So check your food at store.

Hubby and I took a little detour to Emmarentia for our anniversary!We tried out @obemmarentia and it was definitely worth it even though hubby is allergic to fish 😂🐠...For starters we had fried halloumi dipped into a sweet hilli sauce.For mains we had a platter for 2 that consisted of 2pieces of Hake, prince prawns, calamari, muscles, rice and chips! The meal was devine🤤 all the way to the crispy chippies and the delicious lemon butter sauce.We had lemonade to drink and not forgetting our 2 glasses of water!I honestly love the set up and just how good the service was! Definitely a much better experience then when I had OB in Fordsburg...The best part was how welcoming and friendly the owner was, he checked on all his customers and was ever ready to help one of the tables on how to eat his oysters!Its a 9/10 for us!

A relatively new opening of this common franchise. I enjoy most of the outlets, they provide a very consistent food fare.This outlet ran a special for today. If the service and food quality remains this good, I will certainly be back! Well done and worth the effort of a visit. 🤗

Neat and clean, great service, great food.. i feel that the fish was overcooked and not consistent.

The restaurant had just recently opened in the area and the you could feel the new atmosphere. The food was great and the order didnt take too long to get prepared. The oysters did take too long though. There was no visible sight of the oyster tank. Other than that it was a great place for lunch.

Ive never been a fan of Ocean bracket due to my previous bad experiences but this Ocean Basket is on another level. Excellent food, fantastic service and friendly staff. It was so good, that Ive been there twice this week. I will definitely go back again.
