A lovely setting where we could celebrate 3 birthdays, having lunch in the outside area. Food and service was excellent, will definitely visit again. We felt very safe at Melrose Arch, and enjoyed our visit there.

Very professional staff, order turn around time incredibly fast. One of the better Ocean Baskets around town. Definitely a must visit.

Best seafood restaurant in TownI have been to OB for few years now. The food quality is very consistent. My favorite dish is the 3 way calamari.The price is reasonable and the service is good.

Located in a secluded place, Im just worried if they reach their targets but the food is really good. Lovely for a solo date and reading since its always so quiet.

27.10.2018 Our company went to Melrose Arch to join in the Joburg Pride fun. We booked a table at Ocean Basket to keep us fed and hydrated. I was very impressed with the service and the quality of the food. We ordered various starters and mains in platters to share. Highly impressed everything tasted delicious. Loved the mini fish cake type things, it had a lekker kick. The Calamari was tender, the fries crisp, and the Prawns absolutely YUM. Fantastic kingklip grilled in lemon butter sauce as I like it..succulent and tender. Incredible!! Branches like Morningview and linksfield can pick up some tips.The LM sauce made esp at this branch is hot and spicy, and adds the real flavor to the beautifully marinated prawns. Even the baklava desert served with ice cream was perfect... a jug of strawberry cooler finished a grand meal that no one would complain to pay forSome advise....all branches should dump that over microwaved in store baked free rolls. Its a gift....doesnt suit the std.Keep going Melrose branch. Yummy !!

Absolutely horrible service. They brought half our drinks order and made us wait for almost 40 minutes for someone to take our food order (the waitress actually walked away from us when we tried to order), and the only reason someone came was because I had to get up and call the manager. We decided to leavez Don’t waste your time, there’s plenty of better places to go to in Melrose!

THE BEST Ocean Basket in the Country. Period. Beats anything in the Western Cape by far. Food is perfectly prepared, efficient and friendly staff. All of this while being nestled in the centre of Melrose Arch. A must visit in Johannesburg.

The prices are market related.There is a lift from the underground parking that brings you right to the restaurant. A good night out for the whole family.

Great ambience. Great location. Prawns and calamari melt in your mouth. The waitress brought different wines for tasting before we ordered a bottle. We were able to choose the best wine combination for our meal☺

Good food and service

I ordered from ocean basket Melrose arch via mr delivery. I ordered kingklip 200g & calamari combo. when the order arrived there was no calamari (not the first time this has happened from the same ocean basket). I called the store and informed them of this the guy who answered the phone apologized and said they did not have a drive to deliver the other half of my meal. They ask please would I accept a delivery this morning and they would make it a full meal portion. Or tho I wanted the order that had paid for I agreed to this (we all make mistakes). But they have not honored there promise to me. Im extremely disappointed in that as I feel I was fair and didnt make a huge issue of this last night!

A good family restaurant but not coping with the Festive season trade. Tables not cleared and service very slow.

We had famous fish&chips. The bread and the fish was warm and absolutely delicious. Ambiance was cool. We also watched the lady making sushi from upstairs, she was doing it very clean. Everything was on time and perfect. Love it 😍

Lovely restaurant, always good to go back

We ordered a vitality meal and a calamari and prawn. The food firstly took ages to arrive and when it did it was piss poor quality. Couldnt even finish the calamari because it was burnt. Service was slow throughout. It was just an overall bad experience and I would not recommend this OB to anyone.

Nice food in warm environment

We went on a Friday night; Melrose Arch had the December opening ceremony for when they turn on the Christmas lights. We did not book beforehand and waited about 40 minutes for a table. Food and service were awesome, loved the Sushi, family had a really good time.

Ocean Basket doesnt disappoint. The food was awesome. They were busy, but the service was good.

I had a lovely seafood dinner there with a friend. We had a platter for two and the food was plenty. I always enjoy Ocean Baskets platters, so they delivered on expectations. The service from staff was impeccable- friendly, helpful without being intrusive. Id go back there again.

The food and the service was good. Nothing different from any other Ocean Basket. Unfortunately their tenant loyalty program was not available as advised and the manager was quite dismissive of being asked about it.

Food and atmosphere was great however my experience was ruined because of the waiter as when the bill came, I tipped him R40 and he even counted the money and told me to leave more tip as he’s not getting a salary and he’s salary is depending on tips which is not my problem that he’s not getting salary from the restaurant but he kept on repeating It... I ended up arguing with him and left.. ungrateful waiters indeed.

Dont order from here using Mr delivery. Everytime they leave out items we paid for. As per our slip we paid for chips and never got them. This has happened so many times with this branch its really disappointing. Since the order with Mr delivery was accurate I blame this branch.

Good seafood on the square in Melrose arch. Flavours are simple mostly with lemon garlic and butter. Space is clean and fresh feeling. It feels more upmarket than other ocean markets.

The food is always good!!! Crispy calamari heads, lots of garlic and sauces to accompany the food. Service is efficient and friendly. The wine selection is small and could be given a bit more variety for such a large food chain store.

Great location . Good setup except on windy days could be a mission eating outside .The sushi was great but the cooking areas had flies , Maybe incorporate a fan to stop flies from getting near by .

I went to Ocean Basket in Melrose for dinner with my fiance on the 16th May 2019, we were welcomed warmly by Lucky who was our waiter. He was good at first but then when the bill came, we tipped him R20 according to our budget, he swiped our card and he shockingly dropped our slip and card on the table. He never said thanks or bye, nothing! Its as if we owed him a R1000 tip. Never coming back. Ungrateful waiters indeed.

Great food and efficient, fun staff. An extensive menu and wine selection made for a great evening. The seafood platter was sublime, as goid as Ive had anywhere in Joburg. We sat outside but the ambiance in the main restaurant was pleasant. I would recommend, especially for seafood, as youd expect from the name!

We have been there 2x in 14 days, the food was good.We received the starters with mains. We were informed that if we do not order everything at the same time we will wait a long time. Waiters friendly, had to remind several times about details of order i.e. water jug, cream instead of ice cream, rice or veggies instead of chips.I find the restaurant dirty, floors, some the counters, the wash up area floors food on floors.Trainee staff around is clueless and stand around.The Toilet dirty, no maintenance during busy service, main door starting to come loose from hinges. Lights inside dingy.In future we will go somewhere else in future as you have the monopoly and abusing this....

I would not recommend it. Our first dish was seared Tuna, which was served very cold. How is it possible, that a seared tuna is served so cold? It cant be fresh. I think, they seared it maybe the day before, or even bought it like this, and froze it. The waiter even asked, if it was frozen inside,which it wasnt.So Clearly no fresh tuna there.My main dish was okay, but the salmon nigiri and the salmon sashimi was clearly a different part of the fish. The sashimi got a much better quality.I would not recommend this place.
