Sunday lunch has a perfect formula at Pot Luck Club. You get to enjoy a very well balanced set menu, rich of different flavours. I’ve been here also when the menu is a la carte, and it’s always difficult to choose between the many different and delicious dishes. I love also the location , very high on top of a building next to Salt River.

Fantastic food, excellent service, stunning venue...only gripe is that the wines are horribly overpriced... an amazing selection of interesting boutique wines showcasing RSA greatness... but why oh why do you add so much profit?!?! add a decent markup and a cellar fee, but make it more attractive that simple 400% price! I honestly believe if it was more affordable you would sell more premiumwines!

Great food but quite pricey. I would suggest best for date night rather than a group outing. The views of the city from Woodstock are stunning in the evening. Parking can be an issue for the evening crowd in Woodstock so either get their early enough or Uber.

Lively atmosphere in a unique setting with stunning mountain views. The staff was professional and friendly. The first few courses came out so quickly that it felt a bit overwhelming, but man were they delicious. Every taste of every dish was on point. Portion sizes were also decent and filling. To be honest we had a lot of ups and downs on this seasons menue. We had two amazing years in a row but 2020 might not be the year of Pot Luck Club. Team has changed and so, many of our favorite dishes.Don’t worry the Tacos and the Beef Steak is still on the menue. But would you recommend Staff 8/10 and food 5/10 ?Order the classics and you are fine 👌🏻

NIce setting and view. But waiter very pushy and it’s not for the personnel to tell the client they sell the best beef is SA, it’s for the client to make his opinion. Wine list very expensive and the cheaper wine (R600) we wanted was out of stock. Food is interesting but overhyped. In particular, the vegetable based dishes, the Daikon was stunning to look at but very bland and the rather spicy salad accompanying it did not do it any favours. The asparagus tart was supposed to have so many different flavours (porcine, truffle…) but again the asparagus hardly tasted of asparagus. Same thing with the cauliflower, which was only interesting because of what was around it. Bread and butter pudding was excellent but the milk, honey and tea will soon be forgotten. Considering the prices, portions are not generous to say the least (with the exception of desserts).

Plating was spectacular.Their cocktails sound a bit odd at first (I had the green curry cocktail) but wowzers they are all a must!Easily my favourite restaurant in South Africa. The venue has a stunning view of both the ocean, CT CBD and the mountain. The staff was friendly but could be a bit more attentive.Overall service was amazing.

Really good food and nice variety of tasting dishes. The only downside was that I expected more from the dining experience. Staff kept whizzing passed our table on either side, which wasnt ideal. It was often quite difficult to get service. And they kept opening the window (or something) and the place kept going from comfortable to really cold.Otherwise a great meal and good value.

We came here as two families to enjoy a Friday evening and our first in Cape Town. What a fantastic way to start our trip! We booked weeks in advance as it’s so busy and so popular and really I can see why you need to. Every dish we had was fabulous, full of flavour and devoured. We were very well taken care of by the waiters and thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening. We loved the tapas sharing style. You get roughly 2 or 3 pieces per plate. We decided we all wanted to taste the same so ordered 4 plates of everything. Our waiter suggested we pick 2 dishes each but we plumped for just 1 each (thinking we could just order more) and then had a couple of desserts to share. We all felt we had probably 2 dishes too many (excluding desserts) but even so we ate almost every scrap! Our last dish was pork belly which although lovely was far too heavy and rich to be a last dish and probably the only dish we all collectively agreed we wouldn’t have again. It’s expensive but really worth it. The views were beautiful too. I’d definitely return here on my next visit.

Amazing views, food and service. Highly recommended. Reservations need to be made online to avoid disappointment. I dined alone and was made to feel comfortable and included. It was great to watch the service as well as admire the brilliant 360 degree views. Least enjoyable for me was the lift/elevator to the top floor, as the vertigo made me cling to the handle bar for dear life. I recommend visiting this restaurant at least once in a visit to Cape Town. Your taste buds will thank you. Try the crispy calamari and the apple tart! Simply sublime! The wine menu, ambiance and decor make the restaurant one of the most delightful experiences for any foodie visiting Cape Town. The mill is an interesting architectural venue. Rather use Uber as the location is sketchy.

I mean, can I give 6 Stars? 7? 8? Its that good. And WHAT a setting. 360 degree views over Table Mountain, the Cape Town harbour... Every direction really. The food itself was pure bliss. Every meal carefully constructed by a team of chefs who really care about what they are doing. The menu is created in a tasting style. You order between 5 and 10 dishes and 2 people can share each portion. Literally a culinary orgasm explodes through your pallet after every sample passes your lips! Dont miss this eatery if you call yourself a foodie. Or even if you dont. Just go and enjoy the buzzing atmosphere. Generally you need to book 2 to 3 months in advance to get a seat but I have arrived on site twice and charmed my way into a chair by the chefs kitchen bar. The second time I just told them I was from Google. Which wasnt really a lie was it? We all are from Google these days arent we? ;-)))

I managed to get a reservation with my wife at the very last minute and was looking forward to my weekday luncheon all day1. the food quality is overall above average. but for the price you are paying, the portion is super small and the value for money isn’t there.2. service is somewhat lackluster - there were a few good servers who were very friendly . however, by and large, the restaurant does seem undermanned.3. the waits in between dishes are unbearable. as what other reviewers have mentioned, you have to wait inconsistent timing between dishes. we waited for almost half an hour after finishing with our first two dishes before the next dish was served and then waited for another 20 mins.in conclusion, i thought it was severely overhyped and overpriced. will not be coming back

We discovered the Pot Luck Club in Cape Town when we were looking for the restaurant The Test Kitchen - one of the best 50 restaurants worldwide. At the time of our visit both restaurants were run by the same owner. Unfortunately, The Test Kitchen was still closed - in retrospect a lucky coincidence, because the food and especially the bright atmosphere of the Pot Luck Club fascinated us deeply. Both restaurants are located on the premises of the Old Biscuit Mill and are only steps away from each other. In this area of Cape Town there are some small galleries and many handicraft businesses. After a short small talk with the chefs in The Test Kitchen we took the elevator to the top floor and were welcomed in The Pot Luck Club in a very friendly way.The restaurant manager was so nice and let us sit at his table. The staff was all extremely friendly and quick and we enjoyed the great service. The Pot Luck Club has an open kitchen inside the restaurant which looks like a classic factory floor and with its massive wooden furniture it is down-to-earth but nevertheless very chicly furnished. To the outside the restaurant is framed by large windows that allow guests to look out over the rooftops of Cape Town while dining. The menu in the Pot Luck Club offers the dishes in five flavours - salty, sweet, sour, bitter & umami (amino acids glutamic acid and asparagine acid) - only fatty was missing... why in fact only...😉 I found this very pleasant because it is so close to the culinary aspects. Also striking was the beautiful tableware, which consisted of many different handmade plates and bowls, a little feast for the eyes. With the selection of the dishes we put ourselves completely in the hands of our waitress. So, we had salty marinated olives, a tuna tartar and green salad as a starter - accompanied by a very tasty bread. Everything was served with love, very tasty and of high quality and freshness.Afterwards there was trout with fennel, apple and lime - which was the sour taste - and parallel Korean cauliflower which felt under salty. In the main course we had for example Unamie crispy octopus served. This had already spent many hours in the Sous Vide bath before it was breaded and fried and you could taste it - it was buttery and of a surprisingly tender texture.Next came an incredibly tender and juicy beef tenderloin - again from the umami flavour - which had a hint of black pepper and was served with an incredibly delicious and innovative truffle café au lait sauce. One of the best sauces I have ever had the honour of tasting! Not to forget of course the handmade French fries - these were in no way inferior to those from Belgium. After these culinary delights only the escape into sweetness remained. With the Pot Luck Club S`mores and a small special production the cooks of the Pot Luck Club showed us that sweet is also one of their strengths. The whole thing was rounded off with an excellent cappuccino and we were more than happy. The prices at Pot Luck Club can justifiably be described as reasonable - such good quality will be hard to find in Europe at these prices. Our visit to the Pot Luck Club was a complete success - culinary as well as atmospheric. A clear recommendation to all who visit Cape Town to stop by at least once - but make a reservation in advance and sent some greetings from Erik!Feel free to follow my Google Maps profile, check out my other reviews and be sure to visit foodadvisorblog!

Had my birthday dinner there. Maybe we were just very unlucky but the food was medicore at best. There was nothing special about it. The portions were also very small. After we left, we got a pizza as we were all still hungry. Service could have also been better. You constantly had to remind them to give you more sparkling wine. Also dont understand, why they cant include white/ rose or red wine to the bottomless sparkling wine special. They can even have pre-selected ones but for the price, I think they should include it. Conclusion: There is a lot of choice in Cape Town. I would suggest, go to a good tapas bar instead. Will be cheaper and better/ more food.PS: The food you see are not portions for one person but to share

I was skeptical and borderline angry walking into this restaurant (went on the recommendation of a friend) because my first impressions were that it was bougie, and too much like one of those new wave trendy restaurants. I was also angered by the fact that it was a small plates (tapas) restaurant. I hate tapas! I feel like it’s a waste of money, and I don’t feel full at the end of the meal despite having spent more than necessary for a few small plates of food. However, after getting our first dish I changed my tune immediately. The food just kept getting better and better and better. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and everything that came out was outstanding. And to my surprise I was full at the end. Although this experience hasn’t changed how I feel about tapas generally, I would go back next time I’m in Cape Town.

Hidden in the corner of the parking lot is the glass elevator that takes you to the 6th floor of Willy Wonkas chocolate factory. Nestled on top of the silos at the old biscuit mill is a restaurant Willy himself would be proud of with stunning views of Cape Town. The smell from the open kitchen welcomes you as you exit the elevator, exciting your taste buds for what is to come. Seating no more than 60 people, the small restaurant is tastefully decorated and upmarket with some of the most caring & hospitable staff I have come across. The menu is designed for multiple portions to be shared, however I was taken care of as I was on my own. I had the Beef Tataki, Pork Belly & the Crispy Calamari. The food was simply AMAZING with the flavors perfectly complementing each other & exploding in your mouth, not dissimilar to Wonkas everlasting gobstopper. Finished off by the Raspberry Curd which was tart & sweet and the perfect way to end a fantastic meal. As a walk-in off the street I was incredibly lucky to get a seat at this amazing restaurant. Bookings are definitely required. Top restaurant! Will definitely be back & will highly recommend!

Very interesting and food options with beautiful flavour combinations. The facilities were disappointing though. The bathroom was not as clean and well maintained as one would expect from a premium dining facility. Many things working really well here, but a few things, not at all.The space is open and well put together; the view is incredible. The food concept is perhaps revolutionary for Cape Town but familiar to any metropolitan visitor. The food when it arrives, is good. But the pacing of orders is unbearable. The time between each of the small sharing orders makes everything feel like a waiting game. It will drive you to lose your patience. A singular good experience is marred by the staccato delivery of individual moments of enjoyable dishes.Came as soon as they opened for the day, 12:30 on a Saturday, was one of four tables. Although the restaurant filled up very quickly over the course of 1 hour, our entire lunch took over 1.5 hours skipping desert and any after drinks.Overall, a good foundation for a great experience but the kitchen lacks the discipline of timing to pull the concept off to a satisfactory level.
