Truly a lovely experience. They catered perfectly for my dietary requirements and gave me a lovely recommendation as well. I really appreciated the welcome drink, and the great atmosphere. The vibe was friendly and relaxed, even as a single diner, and the food was perfect for me (and the weather today). Absolutely would recommend! The no tip policy is interesting, I havent come across it before.

What a beautiful location! The food tasted spectacular, and was beautifully presented. Andisile’s hospitality, professionalism and skills in the kitchen were impeccable! He was the best host that we have ever experienced. A massive thank you to him. I Would highly recommend Pilcrow & Cleaver

My partner and I shared date night there and the atmosphere and view was lovely! The staff were super friendly and the drinks were delicious!Unfortunately our food was cold when delivered to our table and the food was not seasoned at all.The menu sounds awesome but the execution on the dishes wasnt quite there but definitely room for improvement.

We have steered away from the CBD for some time. However Pilcrow and Cleavers (P&C) menu was enticing enough on the restaurant week website, to make a return. I am glad we did. It is an intimate restaurant with direct access and interaction to the small kitchen, which is incorporated with the seating area. Service was impeccable from the start. We were greeted with friendly smiles, and seated on high chairs at the window (though I wish that we were told before hand of this, as I prefer not to dine on high stools). The food was excellent. My wife had the springbok loin as a starter which was tender and delicious. I had the crumbed oyster and pan fried scallop, which was beautifully presented (though I still prefer my oysters raw). For the main I have the most beautifully prepared Kingklip -it was so very fresh, and tender -not many restaurants get Kinglklip right. My wife had the burger which she really enjoyed. I had the deconstructed Cranachan. The whisky soaked oats were overpowering, and the white chocolate on the plate was pasted too firmly onto the ceramic, which made it difficult to combine with the oats -it would have balanced off the whisky (hence 1 star less). The sorbet though was magnificent and had fresh spring notes. Overall this is a restaurant that I would highly recommend. We will definitely return.

One of my favorite spots to eat in Cape Town! The staff makes you feel at home and the food is always delicious. The menu changes every week so there is always something new to love and the Sunday Lamb Roast is INCREDIBLE! You need to order the roast ahead of time as they cook to order. They also have a plant based roast for the veggie eaters.

Lovely little intimate venue. We were the only guests on a Monday evening - definitely an underutilised spot given the quality of service received. Reasonable value for money. Catch a cab to the restaurant to save the hassle of trying to find a parking spot.

A wonderful little find. My partner and I found the menu on the restaurant week site and decided to give it a go. We were not disappointed. What a fantastic little restaurant, beautifully decorated with an open plan kitchen. We were served by Kayle who is a gem - took her time explaining everything to us and really made us feel welcome. She is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. The food was fantastic - every detail on the plate was well thought out. Portions sizes were more than enough and everything was cooked to perfection.I only wish I had found this place sooner! We will be going back for sure. Also to try the little deli next door.Thank you for a wonderful experience!

My family and I recently enjoyed a really lovely and special dinner at Pilcrow and Cleaver. The staff are very friendly and its very impressive that theyre all chefs. The food was amazing and so delicious, especially the vegan options. I really enjoyed having food as a vegan that didnt feel like a compromise, but rather a luxury. Great quality for price! And there was more than enough food per serving (we even had to take takeaways). Our only issue is that we couldnt tip for the wonderful service. Well definitely be back!

Lovely small restaurant with open plan kitchen and view onto Church Square. The sort of place locals like to keep secret from tourists. Menu changes weekly and caters for all requirements. Dishes tasty and well presented. Wine selection includes well know premium names and theres a small bar with seperate entrance next door that has private booths if you want to just stop for a drink or cocktail after work. If you still have space for desert, the Wo nut is a must try if you have a sweet tooth.

We stayed near Pilcrow & Cleaver for a few days in Cape Town and ate there 3-4 times. The food is an excellent mix of upscale and accessible. And of meat and vegetables. And all sustainable. The menu changes weekly so you won’t have what we had, still the small plates were all fairly small and very pointed eg strong flavor and focused. The large plates were good sized and delicious. The wine menu is well put together and the drinks are great. We were here with and without kids and sat both inside and outside and have only the best to say about chef Judy, her crew, and their food.

This was our second dining experience at Pilcrow and Cleaver within a week. From the moment we walked in today, Chef Judi greeted us with amazing energy! It was wonderful to meet her and see Kayle again! The food was delectable, service impeccable and it was hard to select a favourite dish because they all tasted divine! One that stood out was the T-bone steak, beautifully presented, succulent with the most amazing flair of lemon! We already have made our next booking...what a gem in the heart of Cape Town! Also..take a look at their Gintails menu for something sassy! See you soon ladies!

Oh my goodness, what a disappointment. My friend ordered the ‘warm broccoli salad’, but they ‘forgot’ the broccoli. Serving an incomplete dish, by leaving out the main ingredient, is unforgivable. When it was pointed out, they were rather unapologetic and indicated that they would bring the broccoli soonest. After half an hour, Chef Judi returned from the shop from where she bought the broccoli, and about 10 minutes later, the broccoli arrived at our table. By then, the rest of us had finished our meals. Having food arriving at different times is one of the most awful experiences one can have in a restaurant. In the end, they did not charge us for the broccoli dish, which we appreciated, but it did not compensate for a rather unpleasant experience.

What a fantastic night out. The food was scrumptious, I highly recommend the mussels and the burger. The hand cut fries were an all round favourite. Though the menu does change so this might not be on the menu when you go. The wine list is good and everything was enjoyed an a lovely casual setting. The G&Ts were so pretty and the staff friendy and attentive. Will definitely be going back soon.

So valentines evening dinner...The ambiance is very cool and the food is delicious! The lack of waiters did let the meal down however...to be fair the restaurant was somewhat full, but not to the degree of delay we experienced. While each course brought me such high hopes, they were dashed by the time delay in between. All in all, Im not sure that the tasty food was quite enough. Guys focus on the food (its delicious) but please (for the sake of your customers) get some waiters!!!!

My wife and I celebrated Valentines day this year at Pilcrow & Cleaver.Although the area is lovely and their interiors design has been beautifully done, we were very disappointed with the service delivery and the overpriced food.Examples of poor service delivery include: Lack of attentive waiters, leaving the menus on the table for half the night, pouring wine to the brink of the wine glass and not checking in with us.Reasons why we think the food was overpriced is because the goat wonton starter was basically a breath of air - totally overpriced. But the low-light of the evening is when they served the lamb ribs which I needed to fork out R210 for. This excuse for a meal was basically four pieces of bone soaked in a flavour of meat fat (I wish I took a picture of the food to show you). The highlight of the evening was when we ended up in Steers to satisfy our hunger. We remain unconvinced that this restaurant will live up to other diners expectations.
