Be ready to pay the entrance fee to get into Kirstenbosch Gardens before you can enter the restaurant. The menu has a good variety, including nice gluten free bread to use in sandwiches.Service was great, the setting is amazing, make sure you have time to go for a walk after your meal. Or coffee and cake, plenty of delicious looking options.

Interesting, wide range of food options available. Personally the menu is overpriced especially given you are already paying an entrance fee. My food was just OK although portions are large. Perhaps a different dish would have been better. The friends I was with enjoyed their food, a smoothie and a waffle. Located conveniently at the entrance but definitely feel that for such a beautiful location the restaurant lacks a view. Plenty of outdoor seating

What a wonderful experience. The staff were pleasant and active. There was a queue to get in, but didnt wait long at all. The scones and cream were superb and served fresh. Coffee was hot and perfectly brewed, even the manager came and checked in on us. Thank you for a wonderful tea. Definitely coming back.

Wasnt too happy when I was seated in the sun on a super hot day. Asked to be reseated and I got taken to a table at the back in a corner but at least it had shade!Opened the menu and nearly fell over when I saw a greek salad cost R125 and R19 extra for feta...I ordered a burger and my mom ordered a roast mozzarella vegetable toasted sandwich. And when the nice waiter put the food on the table my experience and impression of this restaurant did a complete 180!The food was seriously delicious!! The burger was definitely freshly made and cooked in delicious sauce. My moms sandwich came out far better than expected with a unique salad which was really tasty!Thank you very much

Lovely restaurant offering delicious food and natural ambiance. The service is impeccable and fairly quick. Dishes are fresh and tasty with a generous size-portion.If you are not up for a picnic in the botanical garden, this restaurant is a great alternative! However, expect prices to be more on pricey sizes. Usually pretty busy around lunch time.Ps. For breakfast lovers, they offer breakfast all day.

We had a great Anniversary experience at the upper tea room where Pamela is doing a fantastic job supervising every meal that leaves her kitchen. The crispy fresh hake beer batter fish is superb and we had the choice of baby potatoes or the most amazing chips with creamed spinach and butternut. Excellent protocol was in place and the service was first class.Definitely a fine choice when youre looking for a really safe lockdown destination.

….Once you enter at gate # 2 just a little way ahead you will encounter this very huge restaurant that offers seatings inside and outside under large green umbrellas both in-front and at the back which is more under tree cover. You have to wait to be seated. The inside has a nice large long bar counter with a full-lii stocked bar but your drinks are served at your tables but now with level 3 implementation No alcohol is served. One thing that is very catch-ii is the food sign which says β€œFynkos” one will almost think that the restaurants name is Fynkos as the umbrellas also advertise this but its only the food brand name, so very snazz-zii. All the staff wears mask all the time and at the entrance they spray your hands with sanitiser and the policy here is No Mask! No Entree! The staff on duty were friend-lii and the displayed pleasure in being of service to the patrons. Although we did not seat down to enjoy a meal we could notice that the place in-front and at the back was full and everyone were deep-lii engrossed in what ever they had ordered and were having a great time indulging. We only popped-in to purchase ice creams to have on our way on this splendored sunny summers afternoon walking to Rhodes Memorial. The flavours were delicious and very enjoyable and it cooled us off nice-lii. We tried the passion-fruit and the pistachio flavours but they had many more flavours to choose from. Here they serve breakfast, lunch and loads of niceties like cakes, pastries different refreshments etc, etc. If you don’t pack a picnic-basket at home you can purchase one right here too, so convenient and trouble-free. This is a must visit venue when visiting the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.

I was visiting with friends last week, 18th June - went to the gift shop to buy their perfume for a friend and wanted to then visit the Tea Room. Had been there a few years before- lovely menu and excellent food- HOWEVER we were not prepared to pay an entry fee of R 80 each to have a cup of tea and something light to eat. Not having time to walk around the gardens surely a pathway can be cordoned off for visitors only wanting to visit the Tea Room. ?

After an enjoyable day walking around and enjoying the majestic beauty of our own botanical gardens, what can be better than having a break in the picturesque setting restaurant/tea room and having some team/coffee/hot chocolate. And then to top it off, the owner, author of a recipe book, comes to spend time with you. My wife and cousin had that experience and the other occasion when I was with, did not strike it lucky. But the service is excellent, beverages good quality and the setting by having this beautiful landscape in front of you, simply memorable.

Situated at the top gate of Kirstenbosch Gardens with inside and outside shaded seating. Wonderful food and beautiful views.. We particularly enjoy the Mediterranean Platter to share. Great potatoe chips. Friendly service. A lovely venue for families. They do get extremely busy over peak season - especially breakfast time on the weekends or public holidays. They do not take reservations so make sure you get there at latest 9h00.Updated review February 2021. Still our favorite go to place. We enjoyed our lunch, baboti with yellow rice, Japanese prawn salad, the chips as a side, ending with baked cheese cake. Covid protocols strictly adhered to, for your safety.
