Very popular restaurant overlooking the sea. There are tables inside as well. One can feel the history inside the building. The original building dates back to the late 1800s. The food and servivice were top notch. The weather was great, so the outside tables filled up quickly, but this didnt effect the service levels....consistently great.

A perfect day out for a historical walk about in Blaauwberg, the old fishing village...some traces remain. And then a historical lunch at Ons Huisie to round it all of. Perfect.

Amazing place. Was cold and windy and luckily got seated inside. Staff was friendly and accomdating. The food was way above average and the portions was generous.

Awesome venue, spacious outdoor seating and deliciously affordable fresh dishes. Wide variety and super efficient staff..tho they get quite busy lunchtime, we didnt wait long for our food. Generous portions served. Good covid protocols in place. Only complaint is that clientele dogs were not on a leash..as per signs posted.

A great venue, ran a queue for most of the day. We arrived midday on Sunday and there were only 3 names ahead of us on the wait list so we only had a 15 minute wait. From 1pm however, the queue had at least 15 people waiting and had not let up by 2.30 when we left.The menu is not huge but still caters for quite a variety at reasonable prices. Im in a perpetual search for simply the best Fish & Chips. Ons Huisie failed the test as the fish portion was not huge but encased in plenty of over oily batter that bulked up the portion. The chips were unspeakably bad; reeked of old fish oil, over cooked and extremely oily. I checked chips coming out of the kitchen on the way out and they looked more appetizing, perhaps our chips were fried in the last oil before a new oil refill? The tartar sauce was good old mayo.

Large portions of food. More than required = wastage. Perhaps ladies portions could be slightly smaller? Calamari was soft & succulent but chip oil old = over-brown soggy chips. Italian/Greek salad was good. Roasted veg - meh... General cleanliness not the greatest... :-( Waiting time for delivery of food a bit too long too. What was once a truly fabulous 5 star restaurant, previously proudly run by 2 gentlemen, has evolved into a very ordinary beach pub - albeit very well attended. Reminded me of 1970s Durban / South Coast Beach Pub-Cafe.... Fine for cheap & cheerful lunch but nothing to write home about. Overall disappointing.

Favourite beach-side restaurant. Watch, smell and listen to the sea whilst you dine. Great service. Gets very busy on sunny days, then parking can be a problem. Dogs are welcomed as honoured guests. Parking between restaurant and beach, which makes it a comfortable short walk. I love the lamb dish, my teenagers like the hamburger. Sitting inside, is as memorable, for you are inside a museum.

An absolute must visit! Great food and amazing view.

Mighty average. The best part is the views and the location. Right next to the ocean with lots of seating underneath the shady umbrellas. The problem comes with the service. We were served our coffee and lattes then the server disappeared for over 45 minutes. We asked for an update on food and one plate came out cold and the omelette with runny eggs. The manager was able to rectify the situation so hopefully this is an isolated incident.

Great sea food and service, plus ambience

The service was excelent, the food was superb. The owner/manager and waiters all super friendly. Such an awesome experience worth the drive to blouberg. Good selection of meats poultry and seafood. It is jot the cheapest place in town, expect to spend 200-300 per head for drinks and food. But then most franchises charge the same and here the atmosphere and quality is just 10 times better!

Love the Ons Huisie vibe. After a long walk along Blouberg beach to Ons Huisie we end up having Breakfast with coffee.We have been here for lunch and even sunset drinks.Ons Huisie is blessed with this awesome view over the beach and awesome sunsets.I would recommend taking a loved one any day and spoiling them with a sunset at Ons Huisie or even breakfast while been served fast and efficiently and enjoying the atmosphere.Food is great at reasonable prices.

Ive been coming to this beach since I was a kid and kept wanting to try out this restaurant but never did. We also have had so many fond family memories at this beach but none at this restaurant. So this past Saturday, we made it our mission to finally try out Ons Huisie Restaurant and we really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. This restaurant is perfect for friends and family... young and old. The milkshakes were absolutely delicious and the food was so tasty... and so beautifully presented too! It was also so nice to enjoy a meal overlooking the ocean and with the fresh sea breeze. We then finished off our meal with the delicious Souskluitjies (definitely a first for me)... which was perfect, as the weather became cooler after lunch and it warmed me up nicely before we had to leave. The restaurant also is a playarea for the kids and the seating is outdoor bench seating, with umbrellas for the sun. The guy manager was very friendly and engaged with us while we were enjoying our meal. My fiance had seafood, amazing. The smokey tomatoes sauce you use with the mussels is very good, but maby abit to strong for mussels.My hake and calamari was perfect.Overall great vibe and a very talented waiter.

Ons Huisie is a beautiful chill-out restaurant that overlooks the beach. Our waitress was friendly and welcoming, however, she got my drink mixed up and ordered me a quite strong gin & tonic when I asked for a cocktail (I am not a gin and tonic fan). My burger tasted very mediocre, the mushroom sauce tasted like bland milk and my chips were a little soggy. I didnt enjoy my food to say the least. However, if you want a beautiful view and maybe a few drinks and snacks, this is your place.

Every time I visit this stunning restaurant it brings a calm into me, because it reminds me of our kitchen on the farm when we were kids. The inside seating next to the fireplace on a cold and raining day with sea view will persuade you to spend the whole day with them, and add the staffs friendliness and tasty food, good wine what more to long for. Dont miss their fish and chips. Will visit them every time I visit the Cape.

They where hecticly busy bt the gentleman working was on top of it thou we waited, we where helped quickly....I asked 4 a chair for an elderly lady and he was very helpful. Bacon was a bit tough bt other wise all good

Another restaurant in Blouberg with amazing food, views and service! We tried Ons Huisie for the first time and it will definitely be one of our regular go tos. The seafood curry was absolutely fantastic - so fresh and so much flavor. The waiter was very friendly and the manageress made her rounds to make sure that everyone was happy. We enjoyed the meal and the view thoroughly!

Absolutely delicious, super fresh and a lovely filling portion which we enjoyed on the steps by the beach, watching the waves. Well done Ons Huisie, well organized during these trying times. Increased my rating from a few years ago to 3 stars. The service is much better and the food was above average. If you stick to their signature dishes of sea food then a four star rating would be acceptable. Wonderful view, safe beach for children and adults.

A quaint and scenic restaurant situated in the perfect spot. They offer a great menu, serving all tastebuds. Prices are reasonable. Portions are generous and very fresh. Service is very fast and friendly. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they allow pets on a leash.

Only item of value was the scenic setting, service poor and arrogant, chocolate milkshake is vanilla with chocolate extract on the inside of the glass,, croussant was old and tasteless.

Yummy breakfast with a great view of the ocean!

Returned here after a long period, midweek breakfast outing, it was early morning so were 1st patrons. Covid19 protocols in place, We decided to sit outside as the weather was good. They were experiencing load shedding, the only thing we could not order was cappuccinos , otherwise they were able to cater for the rest of the menu. Most of us ordered omelets, these were excellent and served in fairly good time, not that we were in any hurry, the view of the sea and the bay were magnificent. Patrons dogs are welcome, so folk taking the pet pals for a walk along the beach can feel welcome to stop off.

Stumbled across Ons Huisie. Their food is delicious. Can highly recommend the west coast potjie. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Had a great experience. Will be back next time I am in CPT.

Positives: Seems like a lovely place to go after work and have a few drinks with friends.Negatives: NEVER parking... Food was just reheated ready made meals... a person at my table had food sent back 3 times and every time its hot in places and cold in others ( so microwaved ). Thats all fine and good but paying R200 for reheated ribs? nah.

Food was good. Portions matches the price. Ocean view. Service was a problem for me. Set for 10 minutes not been attended to. I called the hostess to call waiters for me.

Not impresses at all. Kids fish goujons was full of fish bones. Truelly unacceptable for a kids meal. Veg were bland and tasteless. Praws where old. Pepper sauce was overkilled with pepper. The calamari was tender but underseasoned. The service was slow had to wait 10min for a takeaway box. I wont be coming back here and i wont be recommending the restaurant. Great view but you can go walk on the beach and go to a better restaurant.

Average really, food is ok. A little overpriced for what you get, you are basically going their for the location and view. If windy or cold it can be unpleasant outside. Parking is not great.

Good food,generous portions...glasses we had to send back, it was not clean and the toilet facilities was not clean.

This is a very quaint traditional South African restaurant. I seem to end up here every time I come to Cape Town. Its first rate! Mike and his team still serve the best prawns on the world!!Back yet again (5th time!) and the prawns are still SO lovely! Ill be back again if I get the chance!!!

We had breakfast here twice. The food was cold, eggs and sausages seemed liked they were warmed to order. It did not have a fresh and juicy taste. The toast was cold and hard. We did not have a good eating experience on both occasions. Its a pity because this restaurant is excellently located.

Really great location right on the beach front. Food was amazing and beers were cold. Some live performances from street performers for entertainment at times too. Definitely worth a visit but make sure you go on a weekday as weekends can get really busy.

I seldom get down to the Cape but on a recent trip there I was taken to this restaurant for a breakfast. This is a very popular spot on Bloubergstrand, the food was good and the service fair. The restaurant is pet friendly as long as your dog is on a leash.Popped in here two years after my first review and still not disappointed.

Homestyle food with generous portions. Steaks with sides, pork eisbine, fish and chips, are some of the food they offer. Outside sitting mainly with a few inside seating. Beautiful ocean views and good enough service

Great service, great food (mosel potjie, seekos Potjie) and great company made this an unforgettable experience. Will highly recommend this jewel of a restaurant on the edge of Bloubergstrand. Value for money.
