Excellent food and services, our companions really enjoyed the experience and our friendly waiter Jasper showed great knowledge and provided recommendations on wine selections with the meal, the composition of the starter and the main course with the wine was outstanding, the meal on its own was also well-prepared, the balance of the main ingredients, the vegetables, and the spice were magnificent! It is definitely a must revisit!

Always a highlight for us visiting De Grendel for Sunday lunch. Sitting in the dining area looking through the glass window into the Kitchen seeing the Chefs at work is such a pleasure. Masters at work each creating a work of art and a taste sensation! Inspiring and worth paying for. Compliments to the Chefs!

Beautiful landscape and not to mention the view.Once you park or sit down outside or inside there is an incredible breathtaking view of Table Mountain and surrounding ocean.Wine tasting is done with the top class that you would expect from a top class vineyard such as De Grendal.Hosting of the wine tasting, pouring of the wine and explaining of the wine was an all out excellent experience. 👌

We went to the restaurant for lunch on Easter for our first restaurant outing since lockdown first began. Weve been to alot of fantastic, even world-class, restaurants previously and none of those compared to the 3 course meal we had at De Grendel! Absolutely divine! Service was incredible from the time we walked in through the doors and till we left. Definitely will be back, definitely recommend!

Had a wonderful date night, and I was very surprised at how amazing the food was. Our waitress was lovely as well. Happy to have a boyfriend who enjoys sharing food, so that we could each have a taste of the different meals we ordered. I had a wonderful salmon as a starter, then Pork Belly for the main. Boyfriend had quail as a starter, then beef fillet as a main. All was amazing! However, the dessert was the real show stopper! We both ordered the Chocolate Malva option... And we were very pleased with that option. Unbelievable! Thank you.

The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and the service is top class.The food is amazing and I would definitely recommend the three course menu with the paired wines, well worth it!I took my parents for their 43rd wedding anniversary and the restaurant even did a special desert for them - above and beyond!

What a lovely gemHidden not even 10min from the business of life you find this beautiful estate.Our host, Shane, was so knowledgeable about both the estate and the history of the wine, and so friendly.The wine is very night, light on the palette and leaving you wanting more.A magnificent view to top it all off.

Wonderful dinner experience last night. Brought 6 old friends together after so long in lockdown. Excellent food & service to the extent that we neglected to take any photos. We went to De Grendel to celebrate my Mum´s birthday. We did the Farm tour with Douglas abd the wine tasting with Ryan!All in all, an amazing day out! i highly recommend De Grendel.

…..Final-lii we are here as we tried to get in before but we were turned away because we did not have an appointment. The entrance gate is manned permanent-lii were you have to report in to verify your appointment than each occupant in the vehicle must have their temperature checked and recorded. Its a breathtaking ride to the Tasting-rooms very picturesque and very well maintained grounds. Once you arrive at the parking area which is clean and impressive and when you look out towards Table Mountain you are blown away by the awesome panoramic view. The tasting room offers inside or outside seating and on a beautiful day like today there is only one place to be sitting and that definite-lii outside. Our host welcomed us cordial-lii and made us feel at home before explaining to us what will be happening and apologised that they were short on menu-cards but did offer us one copy. He was on point and was absolute-lii knowledgable. We choose the Flagship Tasting @ R 120.00 per person which gave you five tastings. 1, 2017 Cap Classique “Brut” 2, 2019 Koetshuis “Sauvignon Blanc” 3, 2020 Op Die Berg “Chardonnay” 4, 2018 Op Die Berg “Pinot Noir” 5, 2016 Rubaiyat. With each tasting served the content the wine was explained and a bit of the background added to the explanation. The wines were of excellent quality and the awesome views just sealed a magical time spent here for us. We high-lii recommend this establishment and ask that you make a point of visiting here……

The total experience was spectacular. The food was well prepared by people with a passion for their work! I often felt bad for messing up the perfection by biting into it!

Pros & ConsPros:beautiful view of table mountain in the distance, higher-end wine quality, large tasting area (good chance of getting a table for tastings, without booking). Staff doing tastings are quite knowledgeable.Cons:they dont waive the tasting fee (R100 or R120 pp) when buying wine. This makes them more expensive than most other tastings.All round good experience.

An excellent fine dining restaurant with great views and great food. Very clean with a warm atmosphere. Their 5 course menu offers great value for more, some star dishes would be the Gnocchi with smoked tomato, the Karoo lamb neck and the pumpkin cake for dessert.There is a wide selection of wines to suit all tastes with some vintage options available.Service is top notch and we were taken care of very well.

Went with the wife here for dinner during the Christmas season. Absolutely fantastic. Specifically loved the rainbow of colors a the foot of the mountain shortly after sun set. Excellent Wines and Amazing Service!I decided to invite a group of 15 friends to De Grendel and do a wine tasting for my birthday. I called a few days in advance to book a big table and upon arrival I was informed that they booked their entire lounge area for me - free of charge.I was so pleasantly surprised that they allowed us the whole room to ourselves, set up with wine and glasses for everyone and with our own private wine host (Byron). They were so kind as to allow me to bring my own birthday cupcakes for the occasion.We selected the Flagship tasting and the wine host served a glass of MCC to each guest as they arrived and provided excellent knowledge on each wine.We loved the friendly service, cozy decor and breathtaking views. I would definitely recommend De Grendel to anyone celebrating a special day.

Amazing views and fantastic wines.

De Grendel is one of my favorite wine estates in the Durbanville area. They have a beautiful view and excellent wine. There are two different wine tasting available - premium and flagship - and although the one range has more affordable wines than the other, both are of a high standard and well worth it. While you are doing your tasting you also have a great view over the peninsula all the way to Cape Town, with Table Mountain in the background. After your tasting you can order a glass of wine to enjoy while taking in the view, and if wine isnt your thing they also have coffee as well as their own craft cider available. They also have a restaurant, though I havent been there but have heard good things.

Exceptionally beautiful location with views of the ocean in the distance, table mountain and the on site lake. We dined from a set menu. Every course was beautifully presented, generous portions and delicious.

This estate just oozes elegance and style. Its a gem on our doorstep and well worth the visit. The views are beautiful and the wines are equally good. The restaurant is top notch - so Im told. Drop in for a wine tasting and make up your own mind. It is pricy and Im told you cannot buy a bottle of wine to drink at the tasting venue, unless youre seated in the restaurant or youre buying it to take home.

A Gem on the outskirts of Cape Town with sweeping views over Table Bay, Table Mountain and the suburbs surrounding Cape Town. Seating outdoors and Indoors. Excellent choice of 2 reasonably priced wine tastings with really great wines. There is also a choice of snack items to combine with your tasting. Service was unpretentious and great. We will definitely try the restaurant on the next visit.

I would not recommend anyone to visit this wine farm. There are many others that are much more hospitable. I visited De Grendel wine farm and enjoyed the views, wine tasting and gourmet servings. On my way home heading to the farm exit I pulled over to admire the beautiful horses grazing in the fields. This was when a security officer named Daniel approached me and rudely told me that I am “not allowed to do this” and that I should leave. This was uncalled for in my opinion and makes a person feel, that as a client you will only be respected and valued as long as you spend hundreds of rands at the restaurant. I reported this to farm management and the response was that the way that the guard handled it was wrong. That’s it. Not what they will do to ensure that it does not happen again. No attempt to make up for the day that was spoiled by this incident. Very disappointed won’t recommend them.

Fantastic food! The pictures doesnt come close to the taste. And then absolutely my favourite Merlot by far!

WOW! Weve been wanting to visit De Grendel for a while now and eventually decided to go for Saturday lunch.From the friendly service from when we walked in the door, to the great food and the delicious wine, we were definitely not disappointed.Would definitely recommend and will definitely go back!

Had the 9 course tasting menu.Especially the lambs neck and the pork belly stood out. The two desserts were so-so, they didnt match the quality of the rest but most of all they didnt fit in.I made a reservation pretty early but was still tucked in a corner without any of the beautiful view, so spend my time between courses outside.Just some minor touches, but overall amazing restaurant with very friendly staff.

This wine farm never fails to impress. There is a rich history with Sir David Graaf explained while doing any of the tastings. We make the effort to visit as often as possible, the wine selection is fantastic and the wines themselves award winning.Becoming a member of the wine farm has some unique advantages, exclusive wines and discounts as well as events for members only.The wine tasting area has a great setting with frameless glass sliding windows allowing for good views. The restaurant is also top class, something you need to experience yourself!

Its was a delight experience. The food is fantastic and very filling. Very good taste and I always wanted to taste a Zucchini flower. Very beautiful and quite surroundings. Our waiter was friendly and very professional. Cant wait to taste the wines. Thank you for hosting us on new years eve. Blessed new year for you all at De Grendel.

Absolutely amazing experience. The wine estate is stunning and very close to the city. The restaurant was outstanding and the three course meal with the wine pairing was perfection. The service was friendly and quick. Complimentary sorbet was given because we waited slighlty longer than usual for our main meal. I will visit again and again.

A wine estate situated on the foot of the Tygerberg Hills, overlooking Table Mountain. Wine tasting can be done with a good view - inside or outside, depending on the weather conditions. Being one of the oldest wine farms in the area, it does bring an exceptional quality wine to the table through the years of winemaking experience. Well worth a stop.

The food was truely amazing. A real journey of culinary sensation without being overwhelming or overtly ostentatious. We visited with a large group and were treated like honoured guests. The view of the ocean and mountain at sunset is breathtaking the the pairing of the wine to the setting and the food was perfect. I never did get the coffee I ordered though, so Ill have to come back soon...

What an amazing farm tour with a true ambassador for the De Grendel brand. Douglas Swanson took us on a tour yesterday and just went above and beyond what had we had been expecting. His passion for the wine industry and extensive knowledge of the farm and its operations was refreshing. I would highly recommend it

The only reason I give this estate a 4 is because I did a trail run on the estate only. Once I taste the food and experience the atmosphere I will no doubt give it a 5 star rating. Running on the routes was amazing with great view of Table Mountain.

On the website it states that groups larger than 8 should make a booking. We were 6, used a uber and drove to De Grendel just to be shown away because we didnt have a booking, I then phoned management and told them we are willing to wait and I was told I should leave as they cant accommodate us. So we went to Durbanville Hills and thet accommodated us without a booking after a 10 minute wait. De Grendel employees are arrogant and rude with no customer service.

This restaurant is by far my favourite fine dining restaurant in Cape Town. If its just about food and flavours and super clever presentation and old-fashioned taste: this restaurant beats all the citys pseudo warehouse/factory-style restaurants hands down. Excellent, excellent food!

Out of all the wine tastings we have done in and around the western Cape, this is by far the worst experience. First of all we were denied the 5 wine tasting because we came 8 min after 3pm, we were offered the 3 wine tasting and apon being served, our waitress didnt even explain anything about the wines. Very disappointed, you would think after the hardships endured for wine farms during hard lockdowns the service would be up to high standards.

Flagship tasting was unreal. Informative servers and a view second to none. Highlights include the Sauvignon Blanc and the pimotage. Highly recommend

We were served warm white wine at a wine tasting and the server did not really care. Hence the 3 stars. Furthermore, your attitude towards us locals has changed. It seems you want to get people in and out as fast as possible (tastings only) - the fact that locals cannot enjoy a bottle of wine on your patio at sunset is a sin. We are the loyal ones after all...... Hopefully this will change in summer.....

Its a nice enough place but they are a bit snotty. Got shown away the first time because we didnt have a reservation. Made a reservation the second time but still couldnt access the restaurant or even have snacks with the wine tasting. It was quiet enough so I dont understand why they refuse to accept walk ins. The wine itself was good and we bought a couple of bottles.
