My review is based on the food and the service only. This is very authentic Chinese food. We had their steamed fish - this was perfectly done in a delicate soy sauce with shredded spring onions. We had the Chinese Veg of the day as a side and steamed rice. Small family restaurant, very friendly service. Will definitely go back to try the other dishes.

Great food. Portions are generous and delicious. General anything is amazing, general pork is our favourite though. Ordering over the phone is not always easy unless you can speak Chinese... highly recommend them though.

I love the general chicken & fried rice. Thoroughly enjoyed the egg fu yong too. So delicious. The price has increased quite a bit over the last few years. The quality is amazing. But because of the price, I only get to indulge on occasion.

Perfect dining experience. Friendly staff and owners. Meals were prepped within minutes and the food is as authentic as you can get.Their general chicken dish is a must have. If you need a meal to go - try their chicken/beef/pork lunch boxes.Definitely recommend to everyone who would love to try Asian authentic food.

Food is authentic and not westernised.2 dishes and rice can feed 4 people for about R100 per person (including drinks). Very cheap. Will definitely come again.

I had forgotten just how delicious Chuck Yangs meals were. We had to show off a vast variety of dishes to our guests as we new the late Chuck would recommend as many. Tina his wife did him proud as she serves all remembering every dish to every patron, without a hitch dishes came out piping hot laid out on the lazy Susan, ample servings for all to help themselves to the large portions. Parking across the main road in close proximity.

This is by far the best Chinese restaurant ever! The food is not so oily as I usually find with Chinese food in general. The portions are big and at good prices. Theres ample vegetarian/vegan options to choose from too, with our favourites being 3-cup tofu, tofu in brown sauce with black mushrooms, and general tofu. The actual restaurant is not so wow. Usually people just do take out. But the quality of the food trumps the simple look of the restaurant. The staff (usually the owners and their son and daughter) usually take turns running the place and they are all so friendly. Its also child friendly. They usually have toys or goodies that they give to the kids at no extra cost. We drive all the way from the northern suburbs to have their food and its ALWAYS worth it.

Chuck Yang’s cooking is generally good but not if it’s done by his other cook. The beef noodles we had was exceedingly oily, salty and little of beef slices. The hot & sour soup was also not very authentic. It is really a world of difference when it’s not prepared by a trained Chinese chef.

Found this hidden gem when I was on the hunt for authentic Taiwanese food. Chuck is one of those hole-in-the-wall spots that isnt the most aesthetically pleasing but manages to churn out the freshest yummiest dishes at lightning speed. Stir-fried rice and veg tofu soup HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Without a doubt, the best Chinese restaurant in Cape Town. Try the General Chicken, a crispy barbecued dish that will have you coming back again and again. If its spicy you want, try one of the Three Cup dishes.Dont expect cheesy decor and music -- this is the real deal (no frills) and Chuck is a personable host. Portions are generous and you can get local or Chinese beer (Tsingtao).[EDIT] Sadly Chuck died last year, but his legacy lives on. The family and cooks he trained are still producing those classic dishes.

Chucks is a well-known secret for those who spurn mass produced, bland food. While there is no ambience, it is no distraction since the food is the star. Fresh ingredients, unusual combinations, authentic and made to order. The end result is consistently mmmwaah. Takeout is equally good but phone ahead to avoid waiting.
