Came here with a friend that showed me the location. Had an awesome t-bone (800g). Was well filled and had great wine on top. Would 100% recommend!

I had thought this restaurant had died during the covid pandemic to but no, here it is in all its 1980s glory!The steaks and the atmosphere are wonderful. Prices are not the cheapest, but not too dreadful. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Fabulous steaks and plenty of other items on the quite extensive menu.

This is a phenomenal, stand out restaurant. The large steaks are really delicious and the cafe butter (cafe de Paris) is such a good accompaniment. Their steaks really are up there with the best in the city, and their specials are so incredibly well priced. Corkage is on the steep end, but they have a good wine cabinet. The staff are always super friendly and helpful. It is always a treat to visit.

The seafood soup has a lovely balanced sweet and sour flavour which is very appetizing.Pork ribs is super succulent with a burst of bbq flavour.Fillet on the bone is tender and perfectly grilled, no extra sauce is needed to top up its original taste.Malva pudding gives a warmth to the heart, while paired with the sweet couple of custard and ice cream.The best mango sorbet with a smooth feel on the tongue, and a real whole mango feel in the mouth.Amazing waiter who speaks fluent Chinese offers a great happy dining experience.Will be back very soon, and very often. 😁❤️

Good food, the winter specials are great value. Friendly service but maybe a bit overwhelmed, our restaurant area was full, and my request for more vegetables was acknowledged but never delivered. I like how management keeps on top of things.

Nelsons Eye simply never disappoints! Who orders fish in a steak house? I do, the Kingklip at, Nelsons Eye, and it was delicious. Hubby had the T Bone special, medium rare, grilled perfectly, tender and tasty. Excellent service, great attention to detail, and just a feel good dining experience. Consistently top notch venue. 5 star food - steaks are the best in town. Not many warm restaurants like these around any more - good acoustics, well trained staff, reasonable menu and large portions sizes.

Wow this was definitely one of the most amazingly prepared T-bone steaks Ive had in a very long time. Even though the restaurant was super busy, the service was quick.

Fantastic steakhouse at bargain prices. We were a group of 6 and everything was excellent. The meat was very fresher, high grade and cooked as ordered to perfection. The place was full, yet it took very little time to get the food. Extremely efficient. One of the chefs came to the table to ensure ow we wanted the meets cooked. Friendly owners and service. Very friendly staff & when you come inside you definitely see they focus on steaks since you can watch them make them :) the malva pudding is exceptional there.

THE BEST STEAK I’VE HAD IN CAPE TOWN!The rump steak was cooked a perfect medium rare and the meat was succulent and juicy! A perfect 10 all round! The staff here are friendly and attentive rice too. I really enjoyed Nelsons Eye while I was in cape town, so much so I ate here twice. Super friendly staff, and a really neat environment. It is a little cramped inside, but its surprising how many people they can get in here, and still get food out in a timely manner. The steaks were great, and actually reasonably priced compared to US prices for the size and quality you get.

Great steak and also affordable! Theres also a great variety of special homemade food and sauce. Just keep in mind that this place is always crowded during dinner times so make sure to come earlier or reserve a table if possible.

A must visit steakhouse ! Pork ribs here are moist , tender, and fall off the bone. Great quality . Not too saucy and tastes just right. The atmosphere is cosy and has a vintage style setting. Great selection of wines. Staff is very welcoming and friendly.

Old style homely decor and good service but the sirloin and ribs, albeit large, did not live up to expectations or reputation. No problem, just routine for a steak place. An enjoyable but average meal. Also its the rule to automatically add 10% gratuity for 6 or more guests...??

Very highly priced for very little offering. Had the 600gm T-bone special. They literally only bring you a T-bone only on a plate and everything else is extra, like the onion rings, a sauce, veg. Had chips with it but I could count them on one hand. Had Escargo blue cheese sauce, but had two snails only in the sauce and almost no blue cheese. Overrated in my opinion. The griller knows how to do meat perfectly but they fall flat on everything else. Had ice cream and choc sauce, but the sauce was very thin. Corkage fee is R150. Crazy! Sorry but I prefer Hussar grill. At least there you get what you pay for.

Best steakhouse in South Africa. You get what you pay for, and their service is excellent as well! I found the standard Rump steak to be an excellent choice!

This place is truly overrated. The table was sticky, plastic table mat, low-quality napkins...We ordered steaks with the normal sides that come with it (spinach and rice). The steak was ok (nothing special for SA- we have eaten way better steak at other places) and the sides were nothing special at all. Plain rice with vegetables(from freezer), loveless served on a white plate. Also you have to pay extra for the sauce which I find not ok.The only thing that we appreciated was our waiter. He was really friendly, funny and helpful. The price-performance ratio is not sufficient at all. If I pay like I am in a sophisticated restaurant, I want to be treated that way. But this was mass treatment. I wouldn’t got again.

We had a delicious home style dinner here last night. The pan fried fillet was sublime. BUT be aware if you request extras like avo or cheese on the very plain burgers they offer - youll be charged R45 for 4 wafer thin slices of avo & R25 for a slice of ordinary cheddar.Response from the manager was the price is the price and thats it(Extras are not detailed in the menu or mentioned by waiters)

Excellent Steakhouse, they even have Steak for kids or just make smaller portions. Although it was full the service was attentive and friendly. You can watch how they grill the steak.

Best meat in town so far, this is a true steak house. They have a great options of steaks, tbones, gaming meat name it. In terms of meat it is a great restaurant. In my opinion the way they grill the meat with their sauce isnt the best option, for a so good steak I would prefer to have it only with lemon and pepper. the wine system that they have isnt the most simple to understand, we would like just to order a glass, but they only sell carafs (small jars that give 2 glasses), so pay attention and a carafs is sharable :).the prices are ok for the quality of the meat. The service is kind but it is a very busy place and you feel it in the service.

My steak was served burnt. I ordered medium rare sirloin on the bone and it came out burnt. I was starving so didn’t want to make a fuss, if you do go to this restaurant make sure to ask for a non burnt steak. I wasn’t the only one felt the same way from my group that I was with.I only told the waitress about it after when she asked how my steak was.... I just dipped pieces of my steak in the Béarnaise sauce to try and get rid of the burnt taste. Baked potato was good! And the wine is good!

If you are a meat lover, this is the place to go. Dont expect a plate full of side orders, if you order meat, meat is what you get on your plate. I almost had a second helping of their succulent fillet instead of dessert. Not because of the portion size, it was absolutely delicious and my tastebuds tried to convince me to have more. The only negative was the space between tables. Not a place to go if you want to have a private or intimate conversation.

Fantastic restaurant had big expectations and was not disappointed food quality great atmosphere authentic and good price is not cheap but you feel that its worth it and dont feel ripped off. Wine selection was great and they had a selection that was well thought out. Would recommend and have been back twice since then.

The absolute worst dining experience Ive ever had in Cape Town, in my 22 years of living in this beautiful city.Well, cant really call it a dining experience... After 70 minutes of wait, when we finally had enough, was told they dont know where our order is. Not a word of an apology from the owner - we only got Do you want to wait, or pay for your drinks and leave?. And that is no exaggeration.The most arrogant owner manager and completely incompetent wait staff.Would I ever go back to Nelsons Eye? Not even if it was free.

From the outside, it looks like there is nothing much happening, but the inside is really nice.

The okiest steak in Cape Town, very expensive for a steak and 5 shoprite frozen chips, I think tomato sauce and salt are charged extra. The ambience sitting next to the bins in the alley chatting with the passing hobos is great. Worth every penny

Absolutely superb restaurant with a superb menu in a classic old world setting with great service. Everything was perfect! My steak was perfect and delicious with just enough side dishes to make a great meal which with starters and desert plus drinks wasnt over the top price wise either. A great evening shared with a good friend topped it off! Ten out of ten!
