Let me just tell you about this place! Would recommend it to anybody if you’re planning on visiting Cape Town! I was there in October last year and the food was divine! The biggest treat was the staff! I still think about my evening there for my friends birthday and all I can say is that you won’t go wrong choosing this place to dine out. I still remember Theresa )Gthe owner) being the most vibrant host I’ve ever met! Upon my return to Cape Town I will definitely be making a stop by again! Thanks for a great memory guys!

Great vibe, good food

Why make a reservation if they cannot live up to it?Booked 3 weeks in advance a table for 4 people, esp since my brother had made it from overseas..When we arrived, they told us we did not have a reservation and were not on the list. They mentioned they had called me in the morning to reconfirm a booking for which I already had a confirmation? I did not have any missed calls nor an email. Very unprofessional and disappointing. We went home..

What I ordered, and what I got were 2 very different things. Tortilla chips with guacamole and salsa, there wasnt even salsa and was a basic snack for not a basic price. I was not attended to by management the way other customers were, I assumed because my bill was not as large as theres. Not impressed.

Was very quirky deco. Place is a fun hang out. Food is average. Service was good. Food took longer than anticipated to arrive. As a non smoker you can get the smell of smoke that wonders through from the bar area.

If you’re prudish or too conservative you’ll really not enjoy this restaurant. WE DID! Super fun experience with good food. Our night rocked and made our weekend in Cape Town SO memorable!

The staff is really nice and the ambiance is cozy and relaxed. The menu was interesting, but my friend’s burger steak was overcooked. My food was fine. This place is cool, if you come short notice with friends. The ambiance and friendliness won us over.

The 5 stars is more for the atmosphere than for the food however good it was.I named my white 1990 230E Mercedes Benz the Duchess and so coming to this fine establishment had certain sentiment and it was an experience worth repeating for the atmosphere created a fantastic space for fun conversation and great entertainment.To the Duchess I salute ...special memories with special needs friends.

Last night I was invited to join friends at The Duchess for their anniversary dinnerI was quite excited and really looking forward to the experience, having heard such good things about the place.And then bleh, what a disappointment . The food was tasteless. The starter salad was horrendous. A 5 year old could have made a better presented and tasting salad. Then for my main dish I had ordered a tuna ceviche, which is a favourite dish of mine. I was told it was made in the traditional way. But no. What I got was a tiny portion of raw tuna with some onions in it. R550 per head is what it cost and what I experienced wasnt worth R150 and that was for the slivers of raw tuna. I wont even go with what the bill ended up being. What a rip off. Im amazed that they have the gall to charge those prices. So to the owner I will give you back your own words. Be Kind Cu#t

Love this Restaurant. Great kitchen. The waiters are constantly in a kind of creative chaos but everything works out great. They know their food, wine and everything and make great suggestions. Whole family (all adults) very satisfied.

Literally my favorite haunt in Cape Town. Best vibe for dinner and way too many drinks! Food is always amazing and service and atmosphere par none.

Pretty much got kicked off our table which we booked after 1 hour so someone else could be seated. Great place generally but dont seem to value their customers which leaves a sour taste and definately wont be back.

This place is quirky! It was packed when we went for dinner, but the service was still pretty fast. Its quite cramped, and with all the people it was noisy, but I could still talk to my companion. And the food was AMAZING. I had a local fish, kingklip I think it was called, and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I am very glad our B&B sent us here.

Fun fun fun. An over all geat experience, not only is the food amazing but the waiters make sure you have an amazing time. Love the energy of the restaurant. We ordered lamb chops, baby chicken and halloumi salad - all delicious. Highly recommended!

Worst place ever. Food sub standard. Terribly uncouth owner . Definitely not recommended to anyone visiting in CT. Cape Town is one of the food capitals of the world. 18 out of 20 top restuarants in South Aftica are in Cape Town. Why would you even bother eating here!!! Later in the evening they also don’t respect the non-smoking laws of South Africa, and allow smoking , the owner leading by example ! The bar waiters learn and take example from the owner and and unfriendly and think you owe them something.

The food was superb, with special regard to the vegetables. The service was snappy and helpful, but I just cannot eat in a place where you have to shout at your close table companions. Noisy beyond belief!Sorry guys, you have a lovely restaurant. Just damp the noise a bit.

Excellent service, reasonable prices.We enjoyed salmon tartare, lime juice and cucumber sauce. Best of all; mango sorbet!!!!

The starter was amazing but the restaurant is a bit chaotic though beautiful inside. Unfortunately it is a place you can smoke so feels like eating in a club and you leave stinking:( would love to go back if it becomes a smoke free environment.

Does not meet its potential, service not very good. 1 very arrogant waiter with long hair, should pay more attention instead of looking if his hair is still in shape...Meat was burnt, wrong sauce, wine not deliverd with correct dishes, chaotic service, desert was a joke. Management should filter their personnel and this place can be fantastic.

Claims to be a four star restaurant. Kitchen closed and my recommendations for food in the city. How can a 4 star hotel with hundreds of rooms not offer a restaurant!??

Lovely decor and staff, but food was very plain and too salty

We had a +4k bill and the waitress 1) had to be asked to being food ordered, 2) tried to kick us out before our booking time was over and 3) pretended to call the manager after we asked 4 times. When we went to him ourselves the whole story suddenly changed... from one of my beat dinner experiences before to a well below par performance.

Fabulous service, vibe and food

Food was lovely, our waitress was awesome and the ambiance seemed good until my sisters boyfriend was called a c*nt by the co-owner after simply asking why it was taking over an hour for us to get our main course. Literally our 1st night back in Cape Town!! Disgusting behavior and a horrible experience.

ARE YOU KIDDING?This was the answer from The Duchess of Wisbeachs owner when I complained about their (illegal) refusal to serve tap water to our table, and when I objected to them using the Cape Town drought as an excuse not to serve our table 1ℓ of tap water. Apparently they hold the belief that tap water is too scarce to drink.The fact that they charge R42 for a 750ml bottle of water (which retails for R 9.42), they assert, has no bearing on their refusal.Here is an extract of the owners email response when we questioned the practise – for you to make up your own mind about the quality of hospitality that awaits! :)---ARE YOU KIDDING ?May i remind you that Cape Town is experiencing a droughtWe certainly do not supply tap water for drinking. We save every bit of water we can....I am not implying.....I am catagorically stating that WE SAVE WATER BY NOT CONSUMING WATERI would have thought that this was absolutely obvious.
