The food here is delicious! We were met with very friendly faces and a meal that tickled our taste buds. Beyond is a beautiful restaurant with dishes that visually look amazing, and taste amazing.. Such a wonderful day out having a picnic on the lawn under the tree. The wine was amazing. I really enjoyed the Rose. The picnic platters were delicious!! R300 for the harvest platter and R150 for the cheese board.

I totally recommend to come very hungry because the set menu although it doesnt seem like too much, is still very filling and you are getting in between other courses as chefs compliments which is really enough for one stomach. This wine farm is perfect for a summer morning trip a little while out of Cape Town. Their gardens are well kept and pleasing to the eye. Parking is accessible and there is enough shading. Their wines and champagne are good and a tasty cheese/bread platter to complement the selection of wines on their menu. Staff are friendly and the overall setting is relaxing.

Beautiful & stunning venue! The food is sublime and my overall impression is an old style wine farm, yet an innovative eye for detail and perfection.

There is only one vegetarian option as a main - risotto. Not very imaginative. I ended up ordering 2 starters instead and potato chips. Oh my word, those chips!!!! I shall go back just for them. Tipple baked and beyond amazing. The dessert was REALLY great too. All four of us thoroughly enjoyed our desserts. The meat eaters thoroughly enjoyed their fair, especially the pork and lamb chops.

Love the venue but it’s now a mix of perfect Buitenverwachting wines and below average service.The popularity of a beautiful summers day picnic with space for kids to run has resulted in a large influx of visitors.We’ve had some great experiences in the past but always in the off season. A mid high season day is a different experience.There was a mix of good and bad planning to try and resolve the problem of long waits for drinks and food. I spent a fair amount of time in different queues and in all the queues it sounded like it was now a weekly experience.A 2 hour wait for a basic platter is excessive, it did not require cooking.Lots of potential, but a serious lack of planning is going to result in a massive loss of revenue.

Peaceful setting in beautiful well-maintained gardens and amazing views. Lush lawn for picinics or for kids to play on. We did a tasting & shared a cheese & bread basket both of which were well worth it!Ended off with coffee at Coffee Bloc....see pics...also a really nice environment.

Most incredible wine farm. The venue is amazing with large green lawns and cute buildings. Wines were superb, well presented and the tasting allowed you to select the ones you wanted to try. We ordered a simple snack of bread, olive tapenade and trout pate: we were blown away by every morsel. Hot,fresh bread and divine dips at an incrediblly reasonable price. Loved lounging in seating area and stayed for ages. Highly recommended. Down to earth, hospitable and not snobby!

One of the best vineyards and restaurants in South Africa. I would recommend this to anyone. Their food is amongst some of the most amazing I have ever eaten and the ambience is brilliant

We had our company year end function here. Stunning views of the vineyards. Excellent service. Food is of the highest quality. This is an upmarket restaurant but highly recommended for those special occasions A romantic restaurant.

Very relaxed atmosphere with young waiters who know their wines pouring tasters for you as well as selling wines. This was definitely an unforgettable experience for us from Gauteng and would highly recommend this slightly out of town wine farm. For those who are rather into coffee, there is a coffee shop on the premises that cater for your needs. Good place to have a business meeting

Consistently good food and wines at the restaurant. An incredible view off the terrace. Throw in friendly waiting staff and you have a well rounded off package.The consumé was delicious, but the ravioli was lacking salt.Prawn main was good and the little ginger squares an interesting touch. The cucumber slices was served way too cold. I would have liked to experience a little touch of zesty lime or chillie in the dish.

Buitenverwachting lived up to the promise by going Beyond Expectations. Not only is this a beautiful vineyard, they have array of wine that are world-class. In our opinion this is a must visit destination in Constantia.

Probably one of my favourite wine estates in constantia. The cheese board is a must. The wines are great and the setting just stunning. Dont forget to stop in at restaurant for a coffee. Sadly cakes were sold out by 2 already

While searching for a dinner venue between Hout Bay and the international airport, I stumbled upon this gem of a place. The restaurant staff were most welcoming, and even helped me store away my luggage the moment I arrive before directing me to my table. The restaurant design really maximises the view of vineyard estate, giving you a panoramic view of the hill of vines.I ordered my dinner à la carte, knowing that the pre-travel jitters will prevent me from eating too much, hence a 3 course meal would be a waste.To pair my meal, I was recommended with the house sauvignon blanc, gorgeously crisp that went perfectly well with my food.The complementary amuse bouche was very appetising. A yogurty mousse topped with quinoa tabouleh, and a piece of pan-seared yellowtail fishcake.My starter was similar to a French onion soup, but with a nice twist. Shallots replaced the onions, and, a few spoon of cream of madumbi,a local potato (that tasted a bit like yam, and gave the dish a pastel mauve colour) was mixed into the soup, garnised with shaved truffles! Excellent start!Next, I went for the grilled angel fish, served with fresh shellfish and  caldeirada sauce! The sauce was excellent, and the mussels, shrimps and calamars were succulently fresh! The angel fish was a big serving, and since i found the meat a bit dry to my taste, I unfortunately could not finish my food.All in all I had thoroughly enjoyed my experience here even though I dined alone! Had a chat with the manager while waiting for the taxi and found out that they have a coffee tasting cafe too, with coffee beans personally sourced from different part of Africa! Its a shame I had to leave this country without having the chance to give that a try!

Enjoyed the wine tasting and cheese platter on the varanda. Some underrated wines compared to other Constantia wineries. Enjoyed the estate Sauvignon Blanc and Christine Petit Verdoux.

Had an excellent birthday lunch here for my Grandmother. Unfortunately they were out of a few of the menu options, but the service and taste were 5 star and included lovely starters and desert

Nice setting, good wine and coffee. Service friendly and polite, but very slow. Unimaginative menu. Buitenwerwachting used to have one of the best restaurants in the world, but is now just an average posh coffee shop in a beautiful setting. Four stars is a bit on the generous side. This could be brilliant with a bit more work and imagination.

More than disappointed and disgusted with this place. I went there yesterday to celebrate a special occasion. The wine tasting was very average and was definitely not worth the money. They barely poured anything in our glasses and the whole process was so unprofessional. After the tasting I wanted to go to the restaurant/coffee shop for something to eat. The staff were incredibly disrespectful, rude, and dismissive. Despite having boards showing that they only close at 5pm, my friends and I, and an elderly couple were rudely turned away and told that they were closing when it was only 3:30pm. We were already disappointed by the unpleasant day we were having at Buitenverwachting but decided wed go back to the wine tasting area as you could still buy wine and drink there until 5pm (also advertised on boards). My friends and I went back there wanting to buy 2 bottles of wine and asked for glasses. The waitress, despite been given a generous tip which was not deserved at the tasting earlier, told us that they were no longer selling wine and that we should leave. Again, it was just after 3:30pm. One would think that local businesses would be grateful for any business they get right now given the current state of the economy, especially support from local people, but clearly not. Ive never been so disappointed and disgusted with a place before and with the service. I would never recommend this place. Luckily and fortunately we were able to end our day on a positive note by going to Groot Constantia were everyone was so friendly and accommodating. Never going to Buitenverwachting again.

If youre expecting the attention to detail of FYN or La Colombe you will be disappointed. The food is very good, but it was the consumer unfriendly lack of thinking experiences which put us on the back foot almost immediately.Please go back to the drawing board on the design layout of the actual space which is still failing. 50% is completely wasted up front.Please ditch the dumb QR menu idea. When the median age is over 50 trying to go through the menu on a tiny phone is a fail. Kudos to the one manager who quickly realized we were battling and gave us a printed menu in an envelope - which I thought was classy and should stay..There is no mobile network signals in this neck of the valley.. .which begs the question of the requirement to have a wifi password...huh? The lack of a greeter out front and still dismal parking lighting leaves one sadly underwhelmed. Too many other glitches to share in this review. I just wish that they would do a walk through end to end of the experience as a consumer. This is not a Spur, so understand the expectations will always be very high, and this is where details matter....and where unfortunately the devil lives...A 4☆ was quite generous it must be said... but I must cut them some slack as this was in their first week. I am sure they will be back up to 5 stars really quickly.

Such a lovely well maintained and well run farm. You have to compliment all and sundry involved in management of such a landmark site. To my knowledge the farm is privately owned and been in the family for many generations. Apart from spectacular wines and champagnes, you can treat yourself to a lovely cheese board to accompany the the wine tasting. The property is adorned with old Cape Dutch buildings. They make stunning photos for memories of your visit. The restaurant staff are highly competent, and the food is world class. The shop also offers lovely treats ranging from biscuits to chocolates and so much more. Lovely hand made jewelry is also sold, lovingly made by the wife of the owner I believe. Talented lot. Picnics on the lawn make for a relaxing afternoon and you can laze about under the trees knowing the environment and your vehicle are safe. Lovely experience and highly recommended.

Fantastic Wine Estate and Restaurant!We had our Wedding there and we have been there a few times before and afterwards. The restaurant has outstanding food! It is one of the best Restaurants in the country! The wines are great and the estate is very beautiful!

The restaurant week 2019 menu was divine! The portions were extremely generous and the quality and preparation of each course was superb. The staff were friendly and clued up on all of the wine pairings and ingredients of each meal. I would give it a sixth star if possible as I took some of my entrée home and had it for lunch and dinner the next day!

This is one of the Capes best restaurants. The staff is friendly and professional and the menu is interesting and diverse.Its a bit pricey, but justified by the setting and quality of the experience. Booking is essential.If you go for lunch then come a bit earlier to do a wine tasting, so you have made your choice for lunch.

Had a fantastic WINE TASTING with superb Menu ! Highly recommend the 2 soups / bread/cheese. Service friendly and excellent wine tastings! Beautiful surroundings. It was quiet, tranquil and a treat from the other rowdy WINE Farms! Even when it got busy. No rush and we were asked if we enjoyed the meal. Having tried the restaurant and the picnic venue, I can highly recommend the delicious food and laid-back atmosphere of this wine farm. Whether you want fine dining or relaxed lawn picnic, there is something for everyone. Add the great wines and reasonable prices and you have a winner!

Love this place, Love the food which is really wow and innovative. Service not quite so spot on as before. Much prefer the old chairs in the dining room, shame they ever changed them. Its also time to tidy the outside courtyard, needs a bit of attention.The scenery is lovely and all the surrounding grounds.Another - must do.

Attention: You dont get any wine tasting at 16:35 even if they are open until 17:00, only single glasses at full price. Glass I got was oxidized. Very inflexible, obviously they dont need tourism. Wines are ok, vineyard is nicely situated and has a nice outside area.
