Cross the rail track for a quieter spot at Muizenberg beach. Great Tribe coffee served here. We sat downstairs to enjoy afternoon treats. The chocolate triangle was good and the pastei de nade was something to write home about. The almond croissant was average - I was expecting a lighter pastry. Friendly service. Will definitely go back to try breakfast.

We loved finding this lil gem while on a morning walk on the beach.Upon entering at the door, we were greeted by the friendly staff, who took our temp & signed in for COVID register. Opted to take a seat upstairs, as the venue is very small, intimate & cozy.We enjoyed the aromatic coffees ☕ Ordered Kyles Bacon Purses & the Shakshuka for breakfast. Wait wasnt too long, both our dishes came with 2 slices of toast as well on the side. Everything was rather tasty & delicious 😋 Well prepared & definitely good value for money.Most definitely will be back soon, for another visit 😉

The most DIVINE butternut crosti breakfast (R95). We sat upstairs for an awesome catch up and were meant to be there for breakfast; we ended up staying 5 hours. Our waiter was friendly, and very good.

What a lovely little eatery a stones throw from the beach. Unlike some others I have mentioned recently, the ladies and the staff were an absolute delight. Will be back soon.

I understand there’s new owners but the waiters are very green. The croissants were also of much lower quality (made with bread dough) than before.

Great vibe, very good service, and exceptional coffee - try the flat white. Breakfast is all day and very affordable for the normal ones. Gourmet breakfasts available too and still very reasonable.

First time I visited this restaurant, unfortunately my egg Benedicts were absolutly awful tasting. The manager Jef contacted me and offered for me to come again and get a free breakfast on the house. I really appreciated this kindness. I would say also as far as almond cappuccino, this is the best in town. The coffee is good, you must check it out and its a nice vibe too. Very friendly staff.

Quality of food has gone down since renovated

A quieter gem in this busy, beautiful part of the world. My butternut rosti egg florentine tasted superb and the lemon meringue cheesecake exceptional. I do think they could be more generous and offer a free slice of toast/bread with the rosti, it was not a cheap item. When I requested a single slice I was asked to pay extra. Mmmm. Small acts of generosity would make this a 5 star restaurant.

I been a few times and the service is always friendly and excellent. I like that they serve an all day breakfast and that you can sit outside on the pavement.

Waitstaff are eager to greet you and seat you, slow to serve you. Breakfast is until 11:30am strictly. Their lunch menu is simple, so you dont have to worry about decision paralysis. The burger was easily one of the best burgers Ive had in Cape Town. Definitely a top 5. Space is cosy, and some tables are big enough to host groups of six or share with other couples. Smoking friendly tables outside as well as singles/work friendly window seat with power outlets. If youd like to be left in peace while you work, great spot. If you are looking for attentive staff, youre better off signaling your needs.

I love the ambiance, of Empire. I had the steak two eggs and hot chips also an orange and ginger drink, so nicely served.

Owned and run by a local. Leisurely but amazing service. Perfect for loners as well as small groups. Community tables are tops when alone. Definitely a gem in the heart of Muizies. A refreshing option away from the commercial franchises.

Kerime Sinclair and I went to the Empire a few days ago to try the menu under the new ownership, and we were honoured and so impressed by the service and the fantastic fare! i had the best hamburger that i can remember, and the portion was enough to make me very satisfied. Kerime said the Ravioli was also excellent! The sour dough bread and desert was just as amazing. So happy that The empire has struck back again. We will also be back for more!

Really good chocolate milskhakes and fresh croissants. Coffee was loaded with different flavours, not my choice for everyday brew, but still good. Music was not to my taste (shaman ritualistic meets hippy nature sounds). The view on the second floor was worth the visit to Empire Cafe.

I always love Empire. This morning, I went there for breakfast after a few months away. Wed barely sat down when the waiter brought our usual order. Theyd remembered our drinks and usual breakfast, even after all that time. I dont know where they get their ingredients from, but Id be very happy if I could source such great food for my house. This is my favourite coffee and lunch spot in Muizenberg, and possibly even Cape Town. The wait staff are fantastic, and the chef is always coming up with interesting new ideas. He seems to put a ton of work into finding just the right food for his dishes, and it makes a difference. Empire is homely. They dont recycle their staff, so you really get to know them. And theyre all smiley and awesome.

The Charred Tomatoes soup is delicious! And the butternut rosti is also very flavourful. Such a pity I couldnt get an espresso during load shedding! But I like the place and will try it again.

Cosy little restaurant. Food is well priced and delicious. Stone throw from the ocean with an incredible beach. Be sure to get some fresh croissants.

A hide away gem. A good place for breakfast. Service is average to slightly above average but generally the staff are friendly and helpful. Finding parking in the street can be a real challenge. The restaurant boasts with two levels... The upper level has a beautiful view. Old and quaint shops around like the Mystic Rose gives one a sense of stepping back in time when visiting this place. For those interested in mystery schools, look around for some freemason symbols on the street level.

Ordered a single espresso. Waitress just assumed that it was a take away. Not even giving me her full attention. Happily smiling and heading off to do something else around the place. I had to ask her if i could get some sugar please. She handed a big container of sugar. Walked off again. I ended up asking another waitress if i could get a spoon. I patiently waited and after asking if the espresso actually comes in a standard cup. She just offered to make me a new cup but I assured her it wouldnt be needed. I sat down had my espresso. But no apology or anything.

I am a big fan of the Empire Cafe. The food is tasty, the service is great and you get to see the goings on in the kitchen from the ground floor (which I find interesting) and you are able to see Muizenberg Beach, and people coming too and from it. An all round fantastic place

Food was great but the service was shocking. We made a booking and we could see it written in the diary but no one knew about it. Not a manager in sight. We had to clear our own tables and wait for other guests to finish before we could sit down (we were a party of 12). Will never go there again.
