Really great atmosphere and great play area for kids, however I felt the food was very average for the price and the cocktails dont taste like authentic cocktails. I had a margarita cocktail that tasted more like a pina colada than lime & tequila. The toppings on the pizza are very minimal. Great outdoor seating though but wont be back in a hurry.

This was a pretty dismal experience. The waiters were incapable and the service lacking for a high quality wine farm. We received orders that were incorrect and waited 30 plus minutes just for a drink. At the end of a disappointing lunch we were charged for 3 extra bottles of wine that were never ordered. I would absolutely recommend avoiding this restaurant if you are interested in good service.

Drinks, mains and service were great. Terrible desserts: chocolate mousse was like bad icing that goes on a cake. Much too sweet, coarse texture. The red velvet was bitter from using too much food colourant. Skip the desserts, then you should have a good time overall.

Quite dissappointing. We had to park outside, with 2 young children. We arrived at 5. So there truly was no congestion.The place looked sad. Needs a bit of TLC. The play area was full of stones, placed there by children playing and needless to say stuck them in the plants.The waiter were friendly enough. Menu is only via scan. Not everyone Carries their phone to a meal.The chicken may wrap, what can I say, chicken was dry and tough although smothered in mayo.The view we had helped to take my mind off of things around me.

Pizza is my favorite food and the pizza I had there was the best I have had in my life. If it was possible to rate the place 6 out of 5 I would. The service I recieved from the waiter was outstanding. I will certainly be a regular customer from now on. Keep up the great work.

My overall impression was very average. There was no sense of obligation to keep the tables clean, the table we occupied was not sanitized until we asked. The bathrooms were also in a state. Their burgers were ok. Many other wine farms in the area have much better restaurants and service.

We paid a high price for a below standard meal. The bagel was old and stale, and chicken mayo smelled off. We enjoy the setting, but the restaurant can do with better management.

Absolutely shocking. The place was dirty, the service terrible, the MCC was served warm. Our booked table was not ready on arrival and was made up of uneven tables, the brownies were burnt. Food in general was mediocre. Zero vibe inside, no music. A real disappointment.

Beautiful setting. But unfortunately the service was very slow. Breakfast disappointing as my croissant was stale and eggs and bacon was not hot. No management visible to complain to nor to control the kitchen and slow service.

Very disappointed. Breakfast this morning for a birthday celebration and once our orders were placed we were informed there were no avos. Then waiter came back and told us they had no mushrooms. 3rd time back at our table after we changed our orders.. They had no bananas. Sorry but during these difficult times you should be keeping the customer happy so they will return to your restaurant. Definitely wont be back.

First time that I have been here and it was simply great and awesome. Wine tasting, homemade sauces, little deli for cheeses, breads and hams on offer. In and outdoor restaurant for meal and some grafted beer on tap also available. We came for a view drinks and it was ice cold on a very hot day. Nothing better than an ice cold beer. Services was great a bit busy but still good views and food available

I feel bad giving a restaurant a bad review in the middle of a pandemic, but I was very unimpressed when I recently went there. Lack of bread options, numerous items on the menu not in stock- and I found it completely weird that they didnt have tabasco sauce or any other proper alternative? Perhaps they were understaffed, but its not a place I would easily recommend.

Its a rarity to find an excellent restaurant with a splendid scenery nowadays. A great place to spend the weekend with friends and family. The sushi was superb!

A nice place to go to to get away from the busy city rush. Amazing view around the Deli. The drinks were great although we had some issues (there were items left out) and delay with our food orders. The pizza was wood fired which makes it great.

We had a get-together of about 20 friends here on a Sunday. From booking a long table outside to on the day service the staff was great. Pizza’s and wine was delicious and everyone enjoyed it. Too bad we had to leave at closing time otherwise we probably wouldve sat there untill Monday morning! Great place!

Absolutely appalling. Service was extremely slow. Drinks took 20 minutes. Food took forever. When pizza arrived you could taste it has also been standing. Bill took forever. Manager had an attitude. Waiter did the best he could but there is no support. Will never return. Terrible Terrible Terrible

We held our babys first birthday party there in May and had a wonderful experience. Brendan (the manager) as responsive and accommodating, and the staff (Lihle, Sabelo, and Wayne) were great as well. Everything ran smoothly, and the food was wonderful as well. Highly recommended!

If youre a lover for thin crust and tamato sauce. The pizza has the best flavor and the tamato sauce that they use is very good.

The area and view around the place is excellent, with easy to find parking spots. The walk from the parking spot is very bad if you are a bad walker. Service and friendliness is a top priority at the venue.We reserved tables, but was still met with confusion as they could not identify a spot. The inside looks up to par, but outside it starts to look run down. The bences you sit on outside are flimsy and havent seen a varnish in several years. The kids play area was built and left for years, no propper sand for the kids. They could atleast just loosen the remaining sand and atleast make it look more inviting. The food visualy looks good but taste bland, no nice flavours, just plain. Thanks to the staff for the friendliness and service only thing that was nice at this place.

We went to the restaurant on Sunday and the Pizzas were simply awfulWe have been to other places like a Massimos and Under Oaks who have really great pizzasI sent an email to the manager and he was very defensive saying that he has one everyday and he thinks they are great.I think I will not go back to this venue again

“To avoid congestion”, which is what we were told, you had to park outside the venue and walk. Awesome on a sunny day but no common sense when it rains. They made my pregnant wife walk all the way in the rain. Pathetic! If it wasn’t my wife’s surprise birthday breakfast for me, I would have left.

We had our wedding at Meerendal and dinner at Carluccis. There were only 5 of us and we treated as if there were 500 of us, we were made to feel special and Brendan was so accommodating. Food was average to good, but service was quite a problem. Only 1 barman on duty on a Public Holiday and we had to wait quite a bit for everything. Also seemed that they didnt have enough waiters on the day.

Its ok. The food is ok. The service is ok. Neither were bad but also not exceptional. The location is really beautiful except we were made to walk really far in the rain when there was plenty of parking much closer. This I felt was extremely inconsiderate.

We opted for the self service area where you place your order at the counter and get a buzzer for when your order is ready. They didnt activate the buzzer so after waiting quite a while, my boyfriend went in to check on the order, just to find it sitting there getting cold. He got the food, but our drinks were not ready...how?! After 30-45 minutes of waiting. My boyfriend went chasing after it 3 times. Staff was just walking passed him, no assistance. One of waitresses did however check up on the table behind us, whos buzzer didnt work... If theres a self service option, someone needs to be dedicated to assist those who opted for self service. Definitely wont be back here. Food was good, service ridiculous.

Really loved this restaurant. My friends and I ordered pizzas and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The only complaint would be the milkshakes are not worth it, and are not amazing. The general restaurant is very nice, we had friendly waiters and a great time. Great family restaurant, if you have small children they can play on the jungle gym. The pizzas are reasonably priced and taste really good. I think I ordered a chicken pizza, unfortunately I cannot remember specifically what flavour. I also have a YouTube channel lol, you can go check it out😂.

Just had a quick bite to eat, garlic focaccia, which was a bit dry. Service was fine and you have a nice view of the surrounding vineyards from the outside seating area.

Worst dining experience ever!!! We were told we could only reserve a table via the website. When we arrived there was a table reservation for us, but with only one chair. From thereon, everything happened in 3 requests, which was 3 requests to sanitize our table, 3 requests about the menu, 3 requests for a bill. The pizza was a biscuit like base. Amongst other items, we ordered one pizza with bacon, avo and feta. When the pizza arrived it had mushrooms and no avo. Only then we were told that the establishment didnt have any avo!! So they decided to give us a pizza of THEIR choice. No mention of the lack of avo when we ordered. Bad, bad, bad.

The table and chairs were not very clean. Pizza, quite oily. And the long walk in was not enjoyable especially because it was a rather chilly day.

A lovely outdoor setting for young and old, , quite a few birthday parties, so it was rather busy on a saturday, be prepared to wait for your meals.

The venue has a nice view and must be nice on sunny days. It was too chilly today. The pizza was OK,but the chicken burger was better. The miniature carrot cake was great , but the rocky road had cake that was difficult to cut and was very dry. I sent it back. There wasnt a great ambience so I doubt I will come to this venue again.

So the food was great. Waited quite a while for it to be prepared though. Now with the self service operation, its not as relaxing as always as you running up and down to order, collect and pay. Still a great view and lots of grass for kids to enjoy.

Ok so only reason for 1 starts is the food tasted good and they have a selection of wines/beers to order from and place looks nice.The bad stuff:1) You first impression walking in is, wooaaa, look at the nice pastries. Then you see a fly here and there sitting on the pasties. Aaaa , no buying those for me.2) The service is bad. Waiters might forget something you orders.The waiter assisting the main waiter was almost 100% none responsive. She brought 3 coffee drinks to our table. We wanted to know what type of coffee drinks it was so we can direct to who the coffee is suppose to go to.We asked her 3 times with no answer, the fourth time she said she was going to asks the main waiter. (Why should we tell the waiter who order what and how does she not know how the different coffee drinks looks like.Next think is when we ordered milkshakes there was no ice cream. Lucky they made a plan to go fetch some more ice cream. When the milkshakes arrived they where all vanilla milkshakes, but problem was that 3 different other flavors where order. Not Vanilla!3) 2 of the umbrellas that was giving some shade was not fastened. When a wind gust came up, one of the umbrellas flow out of its ground foot placement and blew over our table. Luckily no one got hurt. Then a customer had to go fetch the umbrella to ensure no one gets hurt. No staff member was quick to respond and assist.4) Everything is a bit pricey, I would say most of the prices should go down with 15% to make it reasonable.I am not impressed with the overall experience and lack of experience and knowledge around how customers should be treated.Pitty cause the place has potential but just need to be managed accordingly.

Me and the wife went for a drive two weeks ago and came across this beautiful wine estate, Meerendal. Checked out the surroundings and restaurants, especially Carlucci and fell in love with the setting. So later during the week, on the Wednesday I made a booking for Saturday morning breakfast. I booked one of the pods, unaware of how things work. On arrival, no pods available, they had me down for the wrong space. Eventually a pod became available. I was then told that its self service. Ordered my breakfast, 2 x salmon and Avo bagels and a breakfast pizza. Bagels came without avo, as shown on the menu. Pizza was nice by the way. So after speaking to the Manager all he could say, Im sorry, the staff should have told you that Avo is out of season. So all in all, not such a nice experience for me 😒. The staff is more focussed on the numbers, neglecting customer service

First, if you want service, yes, at a restaurant, you have to sit on the gravel. The grass, a few metres away, is out of bounds for service. The gravel area has been cut by a third by a stage that has one table on it. We ordered their Parmesan wedges with garlic aioli, which arrived with paprika aioli - without anyone asking us if this would be okay. It wasnt. Bottom line: service was great, really great, but this is just a pizza and burger joint.

Lovely setting - Great MTB ride

This restaurant was honestly an aweful aweful experience!The place was dirty. There were flies on the pastries I wanted to order. Two heavy umbrellas fell on us, hurting my friend, no one came to assist. When we ordered, the waiter just walked away, not explaining the process of collection or giving us a buzzer. When we did get buzzers one of them didnt work. So when we went to enquire about that meal, it had been sitting there for a while.I really want to support business during this time, but this place is a waist of money. I had recommended this restaurant and brought friends to try it, because of the lawns. As my guest said, you are better off paying to get into Kirstenbosch and take your own food. It will be better value for money.

We were there this morning and unfortunately the experience was bad, I won’t be coming back. A pity, because we have been coming for years. Food was over priced, had to send back to the kitchen and was average quality.

The service was beyond dismal. Food was average at best and arrived cold after a ridiculous wait. Staff nowhere to been found most of the time. Beautiful setting but a terrible experience.

We were very disappointed with our visit today.The self service is a bad idea.The host was not accommodating at all. She just said theres a table( which was almost at the dam)We waited 40+ mins for our food.The food was terrible and served in take away boxes (while other patrons were served on plates and coffee in mugs)Over all experience was not up to standard.

Its a great pity that the splendid and spacious Crown restaurant has been permanently closed in favour of this awkward, cramped space. The food was good and the waiter tried his best, but I guess the first inkling we should have had of what was to come is when we tried to phone to book a table and were curtly told to send an email instead. We did so but there was no response until we enquired again about our booking.When we got to the restaurant we were told wed booked outside but wed done no such thing and I think this was just an excuse because they didnt have a table ready for us.Then there was no paper menu available and we had to go through the inconvenience of trying to download the new menu on our Android phone, which wasnt compatible with the iPhone menu apparently. I wonder what they wouldve done if an elderly person came there without a smartphone?It was basically a makeshift stoep area that had been closed off with glass doors and the acoustics were terrible, so it was incredibly loud and you could hardly hear your friends. A great disappointment compared to the restaurant they had before.

Pouring rain. Six people where turned away for breakfast from the main Meerendal gates because we wanted to enter the premises and park in the parking just outside of the restaurant. Reason being...it was pouring with rain. We asked if one person who needed to be dropped off right at the door due to mobility issues could be dropped off at door - that wasnt allowed either. Even called the restaurant to request special permission and was denied. Folks clearly dont need the business. Disappointed.

A disappointing experience. Food was not great and the seating area is not clean. Bread of the vegan chicken and Mayo was not fresh and the chicken Mayo itself was aweful. The focaccia was mediocre. We won’t be returning.

Ive been frequenting bars, restaurants and wine farms for well over a decade now and it pains me to say this, it really does, but Carluccis has shot to the top of the list for the worst service I have ever experienced and Ive had some shockers. I was but one person in a herd of hungry, unhappy people waiting over an hour and a half for food. Im pretty sure that they were not making the food to order at that point and instead were just giving the next food items that were ready to the most angry customer. A long story short my food arrived after an hour and 50 minutes. I have a pregnant wife and there was a new level of hangry reached on sunday which is not good for anyone. Side note my mate ordered the kids chicken strips and chips for his 4 kids. R60 bucks for 2 little chicken nuggets and about 1 potato worth of chips, thats terrible value for money and I over heard the guests next to us complaining about exactly the same thing.When the food arrived we had to leave as our toddler had now had a melt down so we could not enjoy the food there. I will say that my breakfast wrap was amazing. One of the nicest breakfasts Ive ever had. This might be because I was starving but Id like to think it really was that good. Chips were average. I would order the breakfast wrap if we ever find ourselves there again for food (which is massively unlikely after this horrendous experience)On the upside Absolutely amazing location. It checks all the atmosphere boxes and on a good weather day you will battle to find a prettier spot to spend the day.In conclusion if you are going to go to Carluccis, which you definitely must because it really is stunning. Either be the first customer to place your food order before it gets out of hand because it will get out of hand and it happens quickly, we were one of the first people there and ordered within 30 odd minutes of arriving. The better option and the one we will take from. Ow on is to eat before you go, take snacks with you and just go there for a few beers or a bottle of wine with a few mates and you will have a fantastic time. Unfortunately the food was quite awful, to the point of being inedible and the service was insanely slow. No ice and warm bottles of wine. The food was taken off our bill so there was an attempt to rectify it. But honestly I dont think we will be back.

Just returned home from having a my coffee fix - a decaf cappuccino....and bought some lovely fresh veg at their deli....wonderful fresh young broccoli stems for R20!...and their fresh breads and pastries look yummy....will definitely be back when they have their take away menu.....👍👍

Had a nice Sunday breakfast at Carluccis Meerendal at Meerendal Wine Estate. It was the perfect morning, families and friends chatting and laughing and children running and playing.The smell of delicious breakfasts filled the air and when our breakfast arrived we were ready to dig in. Absolute stunner of a breakfast! Really enjoyed every single bite.Perfect place for family, friends and children to have some fun on a Sunday... or any other day 😉

Beautiful views and nice coffee , but thats where it ends. Food was average and served cold and waiters not particularly friendly or engaging. We booked a table and were seated right in a doorway with a constant, heavy flow of patrons and waiters on a flexible wooden floor causing our table and seats to bounce nonstop. When we asked to move to a different table, we we told it wasnt possible. Not a great breakfast experience...

We had a great time on Saturday for my kids second birthday. The food was amazing, service was great as well. We all had something to eat, from burgers to pizza, it was all delicious! We were however a bit confused about the kids eat free special that is still running on you website, please have a look and either change or remove this.

We visited the Carlucci deli on the estate and spent around R300 on products. We bought doughnuts which the shop attendant told us was filled with chocolate. The idea of a doughnut filled with chocolate and cream sounded good and at R35 for a doughnut one would expect something very special. There was no chocolate inside, just a grossly rich and very bland mixture of I assume a cream blend which had no taste of chocolate in any form. A proper disappointment and waste of good money. Unless you can comfortably eat half a cup of sugar in one go, it is not recommended. And dont expect any chocolate inside the chocolate doughnut.The deli potatoe salad which we bought was also a major disappointment. Very little mayo and the bacon pieces in the salad was dry, hard and tasteless.

Unfortunately it was disappointing, both times I have eaten here. Such a beautiful venue but food was cold and it seems that the there is not enough servers. It was a long wait and I just didnt get a friendly vibe from the place, for whatever reason.

The self service idea is ridiculous.. stood 15 minutes to order ... food took forever to arrive... dont go there if your hungry!

Really great jungle gym, book for the stones to be closer to it than the covered deck.Portions are very generous so come hungry.A great place to meet the wife and kids after a nice ride around the awesome trails on the farm.

You never know what experience youre going to get. We wont be back. We were expected to pay for our meal even though three burgers had actual SAND in them. The owner Brendan couldnt really be bothered. We waited for an hour to be served and was then told we had missed breakfast and could only order lunch. We didnt receive water or coffees we had ordered. They said that they were having a rough morning due to being closed for renovations. I fail to understand why that should cause the owner to be rude to his clients or that we wouldnt be able to simply order water. The best part was that we were told that we would be compensated, but the full bill still arrived at our table, managers nowhere in sight. This is what happens when you cater for tourist one season and not locals year round.

What an amazing restaurant. So chilled and relaxed. The food is great and they have freshly squeezed juices, yay! Pizzas and wraps also delicious! Service such a pleasure and staff so willing. :)

Myself and son went there after a nice bike ride on the farm. Coffee service was quick but that is where it ended. Tuesday is pizza special and even with only 15 people eating there we waited 45 minutes for our food. After asking... its going into the oven now... we paid for coffee and left. Bad service and no communication of staff. Will not recommend!

What a beautiful place for an early morning breakfast. There is no complaints from my side. Me and hubby enjoyed all there was to offer. We will definitely go again.

Sunday afternoon dessert intentions. We were seated immediately. Took a while to get service despite waiters walking past us the whole time. Asked for one of the speciality juices. Was then told the machine is out of order. Offered me a strawberry just juice, thought okay. Received an apple just juice. Asked for a slice of cheesecake to share. Came with one fork. Everyone else seemed to be having a good time though.

We had the most magical, relaxed and wonderful time at Carlucci’s Meerendal yesterday! Thanks so much Brendan and your excellent team for taking such good care of our large group of adults and kids!

Third time we’ve been and once again food was really dissapointing. Every time we’ve ordered they have also been out of one or more of the items on the menu. Nice for kids, but that’s about it.

Went with friends on Sunday. Their General hygiene standards are extremely poor. Cutlery dropped on the floor and just placed back with the other cutlery, waiter stood there watching as I cleaned off the old food left on the chairs so my guests could sit down. The Kitchen staffed qued infront of our table to use the disabled toilet. Waiters standing around arguing with each other. Floor boards noisy and bouncy, you had to hang on to your glass every time someone walked past your table. The waiter was so disinterested in us. And the cherry on top, food poisoning all of last night. Lovely setting, let down by very poor standards and management.

Great venue & enjoyed a really nice pizza for lunch. Place was really busy, so service was a tad slow, but since I was there mainly for my 6yr old daughter to play outside it wasnt an issue.

After our bike ride, we went to Carluccis, the service is very poor, we had to get our own menus (wasnt particularly busy), everytime we needed anything it was an effort to get service, staff werent particularly friendly. No vegan options other than the smoothie bowl, not even a veggie burger which is standard at most restaurants, and a couple vegetarian options. Overall very disappointing.

We arrived with a 3yr old for breakfast. no one greets you at the sign to be seated. No one assisted us. We had to look for our own seats which were all reserved. We ended standing around for 30min. Waiters were all rude and not helpful. We ended up leaving because service was so poor and not professional at all.

We had my daughter’s 1st Birthday at Carlucci’s and it was superb! Brenden and his team really go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and “at home”. We took over a bit but they didn’t once complain and we’re very grateful. Thanks guys! We will be back for Round 2!

I am so disappointed in the service I have received. Booked a table but when I arrived the table wasnt booked. The table is for 6 people, we received 1 menu. We have been waiting 23 minutes now for someone to take our drink order, oh with only 1 menu. What an embarrassment as I tols my family to come here. Never again!!

The restaurant was extremely busy because of the Saturday parkrun, but the staff appeared clueless about what was going on. We were provided with the wrong smoothy bowl, after which we were told that the one we had ordered wasnt available so they just provided one which was. I dont recommend it to anyone untill they significantly improve the management!

Service was ok. Milkshakes also but could have been made more cold if they used more ice cream. Tiramisu was off. The Cheesy Onion pizza was bland and oily. While staff were ok, they were not very interested in the bad experience we are having. Very disappointed, waited a long time to come here.
