BEAUTIFULLY decorated with very friendly staff!A great variety of DELICIOUS breakfasts! It was hard to choose so will just have to go back!We had delicious cappuccinos and the Mushroom Bake, what an amazing breakfast, And husband had the Gym Buddy which was also very delicious and filling.I really loved all the plants and decorations!! Felt like I was in another world! We are coming back for cake!!!
A great little shop with awesome food, great staff and good prices. Parking is lacking. Adjacently, there are also clothing and gift shops that you can stroll through.
So good. Well priced, even when ordering via Uber Eats. The food is well-presented and delicious! Again, even via Uber Eats they manage to make the food present well and taste amazing! Their Rainbow cake is also excellent! Have not even tried the others ;)
We went to Soet Society Cafe on 9 January 2021. We tried the famous cake platter that consist of 4 pieces of cake. Amazing variety to choose from. There is a variety of coffee options to choose from (see menu attached). There is also a great selection of smoothies and milkshakes. They followed they COVID-19 protocols and we felt safe in their restaurant.A great variety of beers but sadly due to lockdown couldnt try any of the beers on tap.We received great service and highly recommend this restaurant.
My husband and i went to grab breakfast at Soet Society Cafe on Saturday morning, We had a great welcoming and greeted by all the friendly staff. The vibe was so chilled felt like i had breakfast at home..They have a wide variety of options to choose from the menu and the cakes selection will satisfy any sweet tooth person I highly recommend the red velvet cake##Thanks to the team. Was baie lekker
Food is great! Covid protocols observed. Staff is friendly and our waitress checked up enough times to be attentive before main meal arrived but then disappeared when we wanted to settle the bill. Thankfully the other team members jumped in. Thank you for a lovely experience. Will definitely be back after level 4 restrictions are lifted.
What a delight this place is in the heart of Durbanville. Ambiance is peaceful yet refreshing with delicious fresh baked bread for sale inside the shop and we had mouthwatering awesome meals. Hubby had the Traditional Breakfast and I had a Crispy Chicken bowl on a bed of brown rice and quinoa with sweet potato and avo. It was absolutely amazing and comforting soul food. This is going to be my go to place for quality and quantity for sure!
Me and my Colleague went to Soet Society Café today and let me just say that the service was anything but Soet ... it was sour and appalling! We stood at the entrance while the patrons blatantly ignored us serving customers and falling over each other . There was zero deployment of staff... makes you wonder where the Manager was? We stood there looking like idiots at this establishment that comes so highly recommended by Colleagues and Friends . Even the barrister and the Lady behind the Counter, stood there and didnt bother to approach us . Thank you, next .
The best place for a relaxed bite to eat. Obviously the cake is out of this world. Friendly and kind waitrons!
Awesome cake and cupcakes to go. Online ordering and great promos.
Very cosy, neat setup, family friendly, wonderful service from friendly staff and filling breakfast. Food is always fresh.
Amazing cake. Very good service. Love the rustic feel of the place.
I love cake, and have never tasted better. Magnificent
Great coffee and nice vibe, will be back for the breakfast and some cake
Lovely coffee shop, large variety of cakes, the waitress suggested the cake platter, and it was a much appreciated suggestion. cakes were tasty, i personally enjoyed the rainbow cake. very chilled environment and friendly staff. I usually dislike coffee shops since i dont drink coffee however if i ever find myself in the area i will defn come back
Ordered a vegan cheese burger from them and Im not impressed at all.Firstly they sent the burger with salad with feta on instead of chips, on the order slip it says chips. The burger bun was soggy on one side as a result of the salad. The amount of cheese on the burger is not even close enough to call it a cheese burger. Use sliced vegan cheese instead of a little pinch of grated cheese. No hummus on the burger and the aubergine (eggplant) bacon, one can hardly call it bacon. The aubergine was soft and not even an attempt of using bacon flavoured spice. Ive had better vegan bacon that was closer to bacon than this. Please dont call it bacon, aubergine is NOT bacon! The bean and beetroot patty has little to no flavour, if you concentrate hard enough while chewing then youll get a hint of betroot. For R120 I expect much more than I received, at this quality you are ripping people off. The ingredients you are using are all cheap but youre asking gourmet prices? There are ready made soy patties on the market that are very affordable and taste 1000 times better than this. I wont be ordering from them again.
Everything here is delicious from the cakes to breakfast, to the coffee. We enjoyed our visit and meals. The waitress was friendly and attentive! Well be back!
Good cafe vibe with all the plants. It was cozy. Understaffed and slow, but they are friendly 😀
Like the ambience. Friendly service. Delicious food. Next level confectionary
This is the most amazing place Ive been to in a long time. The service is on point and the food and cake is fantastic. Would definitely urge you to come. Will definitely come again!
A very good idea for a Bistro!Went on a Saturday morning and the place was crowded, so if you going there be prepared to wait, but definitely worth the wait. The is a boutique and decor shop attached so more than enough to browse while you wait.Parking is a bit of a problem too but youll probably find a space in close proximity.Food was devine and we shouldnt have indulged in the cake as well, but who can resist when there is such a great selection to choose from.
My first experience was amazing. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the waitrons are professional and friendly. Will visit them again.
A well established coffee shop with a good value for money offering.29Apr19 - Time to have a serious look at your personnel who sit and stand around and watch video clips at full volume, completely oblivious to the needs of customers. The job surely does entail focusing on customers, not their own social media needs and increasing noise levels. Competition is too tough to allow what is clearly a lack of firm management.09Jun19 - thx for responding
I love the atmosphere of Soet Society Café. Decor is beautiful, cakes on display are delectable looking and the glass domes covering them create a whimsical feeling. Gloves are worn by staff when cutting the cakes which really inpressed us. The coffee is top notch. We ate the Breakfast stack and the Breakfast Croissant with Salmon and cream cheese. The food is delicious and presented beautifully. The only criticism I have is the service we had from our waitress. She seemed distracted and lacked enthusiasm. She did not ask us how our food was, didnt offer any secondary drinks. The rest of the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Food was fantastic but two things, the coffee machine grinding in your ears that you cant hear when talking with our family was a let down and a young blond lady holding discussions with her staff directly behind our seat, bit unprofessional. Other than that, very satisfactory
Service was terrible! We ordered drinks and asked for a few more minutes to look at the menu to order. The waiter never came back, after we have finished our drinks and we called someone did they take our food order.Rooibos tea drink was great, the cyclist breakfast was ok, but not very exciting.
Lovely big slice of cake. Delicious
This is a great little Bistro in the heart of Durbanville. Food is absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. Owner/Chef very involved and chats with the patrons.Have delicious vegetarian dishes. Beautiful and delicious cakes available. Soet Society Cafe also features a small art gallery with some interesting pieces. It was well worth the visit.
I was disappointed with the service, the waitress was constantly interrupted by other employees while serving us, and also paid no attention when taking our order. We could not hear what she was saying and felt like there where no time to ask questions about the food/cakes/drinks we wanted to order due to the feeling of being rushed.I absolutely love the look of the shop but the service really makes for a bad experience.
Delicious cakes with good portion sizes.
Perfect place for a quick meeting with coffee and WiFi. Loved it.
Service is never great. But the food is.Edit: had bad experiences the last few times I visited. The last time the chips were very very oily, the chick mayo sandwich had WAY too much mayo, and my friend found a hair in her food. When speaking to the manager about it she was rude as well. So wont be returning there. (My friends apple juice also looked like it had been sitting for a few hours - it was a dark brown colour unlike the picture below and was full of chunks)
What a disappointment. The waitress serving me was not friendly at all. She was in a constant rush en spoke hastely to me. She had no regard for me or my order, as if she didnt want to serve me.The place is beautiful but the service can definitely improve.
Friendly staff, good coffee, great atmosphere. Worth a visit.
I loved it because of the vegan options. I would recommend their vegan cheese burger.
All Covid protocols were enforced and respected. Staff are alert and manageress circulates regularly checkinh if patrons are happy. I enjoyed a great slither of salmon and scrambled egg on a croissant with filtered coffee as a breakfast served by a helpful and efficient assistant. I am not totally convinced that it was worth R133.00 though, considering there were no sides or extras. You be the judge when you decide to enjoy their fare. 🤗
I enjoyed the fabulous coffee and Magic Mushroom breakfast.Took a look at their cake display which looked utterly delectable, unfortunately no space after brekkies so will have to return to sample at a later date.
Really good breakfast menu with a cute but classy setup. My slice of cake and red cappuccino with cinnamon and honey was lovely. Will Def go again
Modern. Spacious. Friendly. Fabulous food.
A beautiful place for coffee / lunch with friendsTheir cakes arent as great as they used to be, but their lunch and beverages are yummy
Found the staff helpful and knowledgeable
Fantastic food and coffee ☕
Service not very attentive. Food not great. Overall lack of attention to details, not like when it just opened.
Food was OK. When viewing the menu I was intrigued with their veriety and overall health options on offer. My disappointment and overall review is based on the following fact, I had orange juice that was freshly pressed, the juice was luke warm and, half of the glass was foam from the orange peel, with a overall after taste to accompany.I ordered the gym buddy, a popular menu item according to our waitress. When my order came the presentation wss good beside the bed if rocket was not included, simply bacon, egg, cottage cheese and avo on rye. It felt incomplete, because it indeed was.I would give them another go, but I would expect more of them based on the price point and portion size. If something is unavailable or out of season, have me know so that I can order something else.
Very nice atmosphere, friendly service and good food. ☕
Loved the Deli in the back wow a hiddem gem. Make their own pasta and delightful goodies at good prices.
Lovely service, innovative cakes and excellent coffee. Perfect neighbourhood coffee shop.
Love this little shop. Friendly, good service and a nice little vibe
Best choice of cakes in Durbanville 😁😋plus all their other food on the menu and drinks 👌😁👍
Banting breakfast was the choice. 3 eggs, 3 pieces of bacon, mushrooms and some boerewors. Went done well with freshly made orange, carrot & pineapple juice. Service was adequate as we hit them at a busy time. Will be back to try other choices.
Loved the atmosphere, cakes was marvelous, service was very good
Stunning social café, love the decor, staff are friendly, great service, really good food... a real gem in our little town whether your looking to meet up with friends, have a quick bite to eat or get some work done on your laptop.Their cakes are to die for.
This cafe is a definite must visit if you are looking for a good place to grab breakfast or brunch. We went for brunch on a Saturday morning and we were quite lucky to get a table as they were extremely busy and dont take bookings on a Saturday morning. People came and went, but it never seemed like the cafe was quieting down. If you prefer having a relaxed breakfast I wouldnt recommend that you visit them during peak hours. The food on the other hand is very tasty, beautifully presented and the portions are quite big (I couldnt finish mine), so you definitely dont go home feeling hungry. They also have various artisan cakes which looked delicious. As they are located in central Durbanville it can be a bit difficult to find parking in the area, but they do have a small parking area for customers behind the cafe.
Delicious breakfast, good value for money, excellent coffee and superb service. Drove around for 20 minutes looking for a brekkie spot at 7AM. We will be back. Thanks Soet team
If I could rate lower, I would. Went at 3PM today to meet a friend for cake. Was not greeted at the door. Then eventually after asking if I should sanitize before going in, I was begrudgingly helped. It took an hour before we were asked what we wanted to drink. Then they came with the bill. We still wanted to order. We were then told to hurry up and leave as they were closing. I did not feel welcome at all. So unfriendly.
R99 for a taste platter makes sense, rather than a slice of cake elsewhere for R65. Well worth it.
What a cool surprize! I’ve walked pass numerous times, always having the impression that it is just a bakery. Looking for breakfast, my GF suggested we step inside. Quirky decor, with appropriatly quirky music, and friendly efficient staff. My delicious Bootlegger coffee wasn’t even halfway and the food already arrived. I tried the Flatbread Breakfast, wanting something different, and although I still need convincing that it is breakfast food, it tasted damn amazing. And the portion was huge. I don’t have much of a sweet tooth but I noticed that you could order a cake platter which I thought was a clever little indulgence. With all the exciting things happening around the Village Square you’ll definitely see me again soon.
Great food, and friendly service.
What a disappointment. Saturday morning end of the month. Wanted to do the cake tasting but there was only 5 small flavoured cakes to choose from. What a let down!!
I suppose its a little unfair to grade the restaurant on my one visit Im told they generally very good. Hopefully my next experience will be better..
Excellent coffee, carrot cake divinely sweet🥕
Just ordered two take away cakes from them at R45 a slice. We received half a cake slice on both portions of cake. They don’t have proper take away containers either and put the cake in a half container placed in a brown bag.Ambiance of the place is hectic too. Cluttered; messy and just a nice environment.
Really lovely place to visit for a quick breakfast bite, cake and coffee. Friendly service too
They didnt screw up the hollandaise on my Eggs Benedict, if I could give more than 5 stars just for that, I would.
Tasty food. Great coffee and cake. Nice ambience. But you do pay for it - its quite pricey.
Friendly and good service, classy
Lovely food. Good coffee.
The personal touch.......food and venue is amazing with pleasant staff.
