Highly recommend Dinkel Bakery if you need to order in bulk for events. Service was exceptional, with fresh delivery every morning over a 3 day event. Pretzels arrived hot and fresh :)
We always love coming to Dinkel Bakery. Cain always goes out of his way to help customers, and is great at advising on ingredients and alternative options if something is not available or suitable. The freshly pressed orange juice is delicious, and we love the cappuccinos and the Laugenbrezeln. Thank you for the great service.
Thank you Dinkel Bakery, especially Kane, for being such awesome neighbours. I really appreciate the coffee you brought me while locked inside because of covid. Thank you so so much.
Such a cool place to pop into if you are in town. German grocer on the second floor and awesome coffee. Friendly birista too
First we phoned to find out if they served scones and that its not only a Bakery but provides sit down too. Confirmed, all good and we are on our way. Arrived half an hour later. Love the ambiance although a bit tired and in need of a dusting. The guy on duty(same guy on phone) today, September 11th, wow...aggressive! I wasnt 100% sure what we did to make him so upset because we had just stepped inside...My wife excitedly asked about the scones with cream, cheese and jam. I never said we had scones! But we phoned to confirm...No we dont have scons, he said again. Ok, my wife said, clearly a misunderstanding. We saw the breads and enquired about sourdough bread. Then he aggressively proceeded to educate us on sourdough bread and if we knew what it was since the baked it with a combination of Rye. He became even more derogatory and impatient. The place only had 3 guests. Mid sentence he asked me to put my mask back on as he turned to serve now other people that walked in, wearing no masks! This place must have something else going on that gives them 4 stars, but the service.... not good. We left. Luckily Kloofnek is literally lettered with exciting quaint Restaurants. We ended up at Baccinis. 5☆s
Quite charming and cozy little place! Ideal for breakfast or for a small lunch on a cold wintery day. Nevertheless, service could be friendlier. Round of the woodie edges of Mr. Waiter would be more than necessary!!!
Stunning coffee ☕ stunning service and advise on Cape Town directions☀️
A charming little place with delicious food. Would definitely recommend.
Not a pleasant experience. I will definitely not be going back. WOW, where to start..?The food came almost 1hr after ordering. No apology, no coming to inform us as to what was happening. When the food arrived, the bread was rock hard and needed hacking to get it into chewable size. The eggs were over cooked and lacked flavour. The apples of the pancakes were still hard.So disappointed in the experience. Will definitely not be going back
Dinkel bakery is a charming little gem of a place. The sweet smell of cookies greet you when you enter through the doors and you are immediately transported to a cosy little German kitchen. If I had to eat one food for the rest of my life, it would be the Dinkel Bakery Hot Dog! It is amazing. The service is very good and the staff is very welcoming. I would recommend a visit to this place to anyone!
Nice artisanal bread selection. Interesting breakfast fare.
Such a lovely place with delicious food and very friendly people. Wanna feel like you having breaki at your friends, come here 🤗
Delicious strong coffee, pretzels (and other German inspired cafe food), and a cosy homy ambiance.
I enjoyed the pastries, would definitely come back for seconds.Would recommend their croissants. The old house the bakkery is based in is also super cool.
Bretzel is true Bavarian. The garden behind the shop worth ordering to sit down. Friendly staff
I love this German bakery, their staff is so friendly and their freshly baked pastries are perfect for Sunday breakfast
Dinkel has a great bread selection and just made us a beautiful, delicious chocolate drip cake for the birthday of my daughter. They really went the extra mile.
Wonderful quaint eatery and bakery - deliciously fresh food. Great coffee and excellent service.
Small coffee shop and bakery. A very good selection of breads. Very fair in price and very good coffee. A small outside area for 6 to 12 seats. Friendly service. My cover for fresh bread
Best place for salted pretzels. Their breakfast options are amazing. Always fresh. Oooh the apple pie- delicious!
Good food, good prices, nice little garden to sit outside.
My partner and I popped in here on a chilly August morning while on holiday in Cape Town. Weve been learning German (but we are still too shy to actually try speak it). This little bakery is absolutely lovely! Its so quaint and filled with interesting objects. Its warm and welcoming. Very comfortable. We both had a Cappuccino. which was really good. Wonderful for the chilly weather. I had the Pumpkin soup, which was amazing (and I am not usually a soup lover, but this was sooo good! I now need that soup in my life!). My partner had the Munich breakfast, which he loved. We also ordered some baked goodies to take away for a snack later on.Everything was great, The food was delicious, fresh and well prepared. The staff and owners are so friendly and helpful! Definitely a place I would visit again.
A little bit of home shopping 😎
The place is lovely with a very friendly host. The atmosphere is great and food delicious. Will definitely try to come back before the end of our trip in South Africa!
Lovely and friendly people giving great service
Delicious cakes, people & atmosphere
Good quality german food and bake and more (books, dolls). Friendly and warm folks - I love visiting.I really should not mention this as they sell out quickly, the donuts.is.the.real.thing.
Best bakery ever ❤️ Love this place it is a must
Went there on a Saturday morning for breakfast. If it wasnt for the space , Id have rated 5 stars. Everything else was on point, from the ordering of food and the time it takes to be prepared and how on point the waiter was and also how reasonably priced their meals are. I had a pretzel sandwich and this is by far the best pretzel roll I have tasted in South Africa , it took my taste buds back to my time in Germany. There are options of ordering take away or seat in but if its your first time there Id recommend seating in even for a cup of coffee and admire the art and the vintage decor in the bakery. Id definitely go back again especially for the sandwich.
Very cute little German bakery with a friendly staff. Their hot chocolate is a must have.
Bakery and Shop out of the books! Well done best coffee ever!
It was such an amazing experience!! The breakfast is wonderful and well done. We havent had to wait a long time and the service was amazing. The quality of the bread is at least as good as it is in Germany!!
Very nice place for a good breakfast and coffee.Environment is small and cozy. I really enjoy going there in the winter especially for a coffee and a chat with some friends.
A real hidden gem. Friendly staff and good food.
Great espresso and good old german bread...
Not as good as it use to be, stock was limited
Superb. Thanks guys.
Love a quaint place 4 breakfast? Small garden setting? German bread & pretzels? Then this is the place
Great little German bakery using stone flour . Great place for breakfast croissants ; german home made cakes and very good cappuccino.
I love this little gem in the heart of Tamboerskloof.
Id like the food and the lokation. But my Friend felt realy sad because we had a to pay 214 R and the Man said he should pay 540 R. Please check the prices before you order. There are no prices. And look forward to your money.
We were served after their closing time and had some jummy homemade quiches. Great Service!
Cute little German bakery. Good coffee
Nice small bakery. Excellent for breakfast. Very friendly
Great food and coffee. Lovely setting. Amazing bread.
It was just a simple sandwich, but made with love, tied together with a little piece of string and some Rosemary as garnish:) It’s rewarding to enjoy real bread in South Africa.
Good selection of cake and biscuits. Warm atmosphere.
Stunning breakfast, great location, superior service...definitely coming back♡
Good cake, and a wonderful ambience. Its really quite a treat to be there.
Went there at 8 to get three Cappucini, but they told me the machine would need to warm up first which would take half an hour. The bread was average. Too bad.
Apparently the best Stollen in cape town but it was sold out by the 21st when I was there 😦
Absolutely delicious spelt (wheat-free) croissants! Friendly and good service...
Awesome 👌
Quaint, authentic and cosy little German bakery with a couple of tables inside and in a beautiful courtyard where they serve fabulous coffee and their freshly baked fare. Dinkel is German for spelt: hence the fantastic suprise of finding hot from the oven, wheat free croissants here - made from spelt!
Its a nice little bakery with spelt products and nice cakes. They are all very friendly and you can have breakfast all day long and also some other food.
AMAZING german speaking bakery, great selection of tasty baked goods. From breads to cakes, devine
A cosy atmosphere and delicious food.
Delicious food, great ambiance and friendly service.
Amazing little German style bakery thats beautifully decorated. Service is excellent.
Super friendly and helpful service at the Buchhandlung! A little german treasure chest!!
Delicious food, nice place to be and friendly staff.
Good German products, fantastic breakfast and friendly staff
Must be a lifestyle business because the service is poor and they are always out of stock. Too bad because the breads are great and the place is cozy but not worth the struggle.
Unique setup
Very good quality breadsHelpful lady
Excellent place for a coffee and cake
It is very sad that the girl behind the counter doesnt know that spelt is a kind of WHEAT, nor that it CONTAINS GLUTEN! She argued that it isnt wheat and that its gluten free. She should really not work in a bakery!
Best croissants thus far......
Nice little bakery.Frendly people
Excellent
Wonderful bakery and excellent pastries!
Good breads and coffee
Business owner does not keep anything in stock. Go in at 9am and they are already sold out. Whats the point ?
The quaintest German Bakery in Cape Town🌍
Absolutely fabulous
Delicious 😊
Family owned
Really lovely
Great German Bakery
Totally lovingly furnished bakery with café and - if you need it - sales of German products on the 1st floor. Very tasty topped pretzel stick with cheese, cucumber and eggs, very good-looking pretzels and a very tasty crumble cake. Extremely nice and courteous service. For on-site consumption or take away. Chance hit, but very worth it! Wish you a pleasant day and bye. Splendid.
Simply “world class” this bakery / restaurant with a lot of love. The breakfast was very fresh and the taste was a dream. We felt very comfortable and will be back. We can highly recommend it.
Small idyllic German bakery !!
In itself a great cute bakery. Nice selection and the things offered are good. The pretzel sticks dont taste like in Bavaria, but they are ok.What a huge disappointment and absolute cheek was that the local employee wanted to pull me over the table behind the counter. Instead of the bill of 214 rand, he wanted 540. The prices for the goods were nowhere to be found. After paying, I checked the bill outside the door. Amount: 214 rand. Back at the store, he said I only gave him 240 rand, which he put on the table for me. Which would have been too much in itself. After knowing exactly which notes I had given him and not all of these notes were in the cash register, I knew that he would put 3 of my hundred-rand notes in his own pocket. The German young colleague, who was now present, came after a short discussion. After my explanation, she assured me that she would sort it out and get in touch with me.After three more visits and no message from an employee, I asked the employee for my money back, which he gave me without hesitation. It is incredible that the moment of trust is used in this way. I was amazed at the high price, but didnt want to make the employee so suspicious. The indifference of the woman in the shop is an absolute cheek. Never heard anything.
German baked goods at their finest. The coffee was excellent and the breakfast hit the spot. Thank you for the perfect breakfast!
Gem on the table mountain. Small garden terrace recommended
