Really cool spot. The courtyard is stunning, and equally as elegant if you’re seated inside. We were a large table and the service was very good. We all ordered such diverse items like curries, prawns, sushi, dumplings and ribs!Everyone left full and very happy. There’s nothing like enjoying good company under the starlight with a delicious meal!!If you live in the area, please go and check it out!
The service I could not fault at all. The food speaks volumes for itself. The specials were a great addition to the pleasant experience. The environment well decorated and cooled. The drinks was spot on and when asked for something else they make a plan for you which is really nice. The sushi we ordered is really nice. The rice to fish ratio was adequate but not impressive. The fried tofu sushi was a great twist and tasted great. The different platters are more affordable for what they are during the specials though. Sashimi is really well done though.
We arrived at 5h45pm and sushi was at half price till 6pm. So we ordered our sushi for the evening which was amazing.Perfect amount of rice to salmon/tuna.The dumplings we ordered was full of meat and enjoyable.Service was great and efficient.Food fresh and delicious and very colorful. Are we returning YES.my advise malena booking .Being a Monday evening we thought the place would be empty but was Full.
I visited for a Sunday afternoon snack. A lovely live band way playing which was a great treat. I enjoyed their dim sum, wantons and salmon sashimi and sullied on a virgin strawberry daiquiri. I love that their sushi is always fresh and the dim sum never dissapoints. The staff is friendly and efficient. We didnt stay long as we sat outside and it was freezing. I cant wait to visit again in the summer for oysters and bubbly. My partner had a Springbok and fries. Done medium rare, it was delicious with a beetroot puree. Overall the restaurant has a relaxed and cool vibe.
Beautiful restaurant with a modern warehouse vibe. Extensive menu, including a variety of seafood dishes, sushi as well as Asian fusion and the typical meat options. Fantastic lunch time specials on cocktails and sushi, as well as a plethora of drink specials to suit all tastes. Highly recomendable!
Very nice afternoon tea/champagne spent at the Beluga. I like how posh and relaxed the atmosphere was at the same time. The servers were all really nice, elegant and dynamic, I felt genuinely welcomed. The sushi and tempura were fresh, good and the cocktails are totally worth it, especially on fridays where they offer cocktails/sushi happy hour sets. The terrace is nice and equipped with fans when it’s too hot. The inside of the building is really spacious and beautifully decorated as well. Special thanks to Samuel for never missing out an occasion to ensure me and my friend weren’t lacking of anything. Well done, I will certainly be back :)
Beluga is famous for its sushi plates which is why I visited the restaurant in the first place. I really was not disappointed! The sushi was filling and scrumptious! The wine had a fine dry and sweet taste which sat well on my taste buds. The ambience and service was amazing. We arrived at night and decuded to sit outside and since it was a bit chilly we were offered red warm blankets and mobile fire heaters were placed around our table. This showed how caring the staff was. The waitress assisted me picking the best wine which was the cherry on top!I loved it and I will be returning very soon!
I am all about second chances and was very glad I gave this venue a second chance after a negative start. Suffice it to say they MORE than made up for the previous hiccup with excellent and friendly service. And the Norwegian Salmon and Belgian Chocolate Truffle cake was delicious. And the Classic Margarita was yum!! Hats off to the Manager, Lucy and Waitress, Jackie who more than redeemed the situation. We will definately be back!! 😁
This is by far the best sushi experience we have had. From the reservations to arriving at the door to being seated. Such a 5 star experience. We have been coming here since 2012 and even though ownership has changed, the vibe is pretty much the same. The sushi specials are really a bargain and a must for those people interested. The Virgin strawberry daiquiri was amazing. Wish they still had the Virgin ping colada on the menu. This was definitely great. The bowl of jelly beans with your bill is really great. Love the little things. Love it and hope to be back for more again.
One of Cape Towns better locations, yet food remains sort of OK...Tip to Sushi chef: When the tuna in your sushis colour vary from a deep red (read fresh), to a purple grey, then it tastes like something purple grey.PS: the De Grendel rosé was crisp and refreshing and a perfect lover on a stunning autumn day.
The seafood platter is really good. The restaurant is trendy with a great layout and nice finishes. I thought the service was a bit slow and the food didn’t come out all together for everyone. We noticed one item never came out at all and the waiter said they were out of stock. Not sure why they didn’t mention this earlier. The food was very good.
....………As we are always on the look-out for new different, grand, exquisite and extraordinaril-ii exciting restaurants to eat at where they serve insidious-lii delicious cuisine so with my 66th birthday coming up we decided to pay a visit to Beluga as we have heard of the good vibe and food to be experienced here. The restaurant is located in a well renowned area where most of the old solid red-brick buildings have been upgraded to house many well placed businesses and also a good amount of fine and renowned restaurants. They say that first impressions last the longest and so it is, when you arrive at this solid red-brick building where the signage is well placed you are immediate-lii impressed by the sheer size of the area which they occupy, it is huge. The entrance to the restaurant is on the side where you go through a security manned point and the impression on entering the restaurant is one of royal-tii as the bright-red carpet is laid out right-up to the door. Outside to the one-side is a huge area with big outdoor umbrellas covering the tables and chairs provided for outside seating, in-between are big garden-pots with trees in to enhance the outdoor feeling and where at night-time they light-up the patio-heaters to reduce the chill, kind of very romantic! When you get through the front door the first encounter is with the very snazz-ii pub enclosed in glass from floor to ceiling and has pigeon-holes filled with wines and champagnes and the bluish-lights under the bar-counter real-lii put a touch of panache to it! As you venture deeper into this vast arena you get the feel of state-lii-ness as all the pillars and the ceilings are covered in wood paneling. The big yellow light-fittings cast a pleasant dim setting through-out the entire restaurant. Two walls which forms the corner have huge windows towards the outside roads, absolute-lii magical seating. The walls are sober-lii decorated with large live-lii murals one can see the sense in this as the place is big so small picture on the walls would real-lii gel. There is evidence of what this building was used for in by-gone years can be seen with the big “Block & Tackle with the big hook” dangling from the ceiling (nice display). The manager on duty welcomed us cordial-ii and handed us over to our waiter who escorted us to our window seating, then handed us three sets of menus an Ale cart, Specials and a Two/Three course set menu which offers a choice of 7 starters, 5 main-meals and 4 desserts. We went with the 3 course @ R245.00 pp: - FIRST-COURSE were 1. TUNA CRUNCH (8) Tuna tempura, cream-cheese, tempura battered, QP mayo, sweet chilli reduction 2. CRISPY CALAMARI spiced-fried baby calamari, crispy pickled mix-veg, spicy peanut dressing 3. BEEF CARPACCIO Sundried tomato, parmesan, balsamic reduction. All were On-Point and scrumptious. Because we decided on Fish & Meats we got a bottle of D’Aria “Blash-Rose’” fruit-ii and not too dry! SECOND-COURSE were 1. MISO LINEFISH Roasted veg, tomato salsa 2 & 3. FILLETS Roasted baby potatoes, peri-peri reduction, crispy-pickled onions. The fish with Miso was good, taste-tii but a bit dry but the steaks were of the finest cuts and succulent and prepared perfect-lii as ordered. THIRD-COURSE were 1. White Chocolate Beignet (very Yummii and sweet) 2. Coco-Mango Balls (this dessert was quaint in a nice-way but intriguing-lii fascinating, it tickled the taste-buds the juice was mint-ii but not sweet and the choc-filled balls (not sure if it was a chow-pow filled with chocolate) darn-good stuff we will come back here if it’s only for the Coco-Mango Balls! 3. Vanilla Creme Brulee very cream-ii and the burnt-sugar crust was not a solid-block just nice and thin, easy to break-through! Our whole experience here was great the staff was friend-lii even if they were not serving your table they smiled and acknowledged you and the duty-manager even made a point of coming around to small-talk. We will definitely come back here in the future……………………..
I went for stake straight as adviced by friends. Meat was great. Some ingredient was bit too salty, but in general - I liked it!Staff was friendly, enivonment also nice, good options of wine. Upscale price, but worth to experience at least once if you are in or just came to Cape Town. Few pictures, to get the feeling

Best Sushi ever in Cape Town you have to try the Chefs platter its amazing
I had a chicken breast and crushed potato but was slightly underwhelmed. Apparently its more renowned for its sushi and dim sum so Ill try those next time but its in a picturesque European-feel little corner with beautiful furnishings so its worth a visit, especially if youre trying to get away from the busier restaurants. The service is also quite impressive.
The vegan options abound! The Tofu Crunch is R50 for 8 pieces and well worth going for just by itself.Amazing location in an old foundry where some of the original interior has been retained. Comfortable seating and nice low lighting. Entering on the red carpet is a nice touch. You will feel like a celebrity. Dont forget to take a spoon of jelly beans on your way out :)
Very nice place,we went there twice on our 1 week visit (we stayed really close)the menu is very big with a big variety of dishes.we focused mainly on dim sum and sushi, all of them are done really well, on sundays there is a special offer on the sushi menu which is really nice and inexpensiveservice was quite attentive, and the overall experience was great value for money
Beluga has excellent, fresh Sushi. I would recommend their beef carpaccio for starters.Expect slow service during the day. The venue is in an industrial complex and lacks the views you usually find in Cape Town restaurants.
Excellent sushi! A must for every sushilover who visits Capetown. Very reasonable lunch specials.
Sushi, dim sums and cocktails 50% off between 4-7 week days. I mean common....Cocktails to die for, dim sum amazing and the sushi lovers will kill for more.
It was my mothers birthday and our first time at the restaurant. It was absolutely fantastic the food was great, as well as the atmosphere and service! My mom and I have now made it compulsory that we havs a mother daughter date at the restaurant monthlyThank you so much
The service is great compared to many upscale restaurants in Cape Town
I go to Cape Town twice a year for business and have been visiting this place for six years in a row now. It s one of the liveliest restaurants you can find at that part of the city. Attitude of the service team is always positive and the food never disappointed me.Seafood is one of freshest I had so far.
Enjoyed the best meal on the 6th November 2019
5 Star service - 4.5 Star food - 4 Star location - 5 Stars for price/quality ratio. The seared Tuna and the Springbok Carpacio are to die for.
Nice location, good service and atmosphere! Overall good value for money. Sushi was ok.
We hosted a birthday dinner at Beluga and we could not have asked for a better experience. Our waiter, Tawanda - was incredible! He managed a party of 28 without breaking a sweat, was attentive, had every aspect nailed, and made our experience really pleasant.Beluga was super accommodating in terms of how we used the space. A really great venue for a celebration.Lastly, the food was outstanding! We had the summer set menu. Everyone was 100% satisfied with their meals and left with only good reviews of their courses. Favourites of the night - Tofu Crunch, Miso Line Fish and Crème Brûlée.We are so happy to have had such a positive experience. Thanks Beluga!
We liked! Wide selection on the menu. Atmosphere was great. Would go back for the desert alone!
Really cosy, can be romantic and nice dinner options. Sushi is almost half price on Sundays. Halaal friendly. Tend to go for Tempura California rolls and anything of the prawn variety. You can also give the prawn dim sum a try, although abit bland.
Great food, good service. We had the seafood platter abd sushi - yummy. No views. Parking can be a nightmare. An expensive restaurant - we went on a day when they had half price sushi.
I absolutely loved this place. It was hidden in one of the back roads of Cape Town but was such a gem of a find. The food was wonderful and so were the staff. So friendly and organized.I also noticed that it is the perfect place for taking photos. The dress code was a bit more on the relaxed side. Casual but classy.
They have the best sushi in Cape Town!Excellent service as well!
The best Salmon/Tuna Crunch in Cape Town...their sushi is always fresh and delicious and their Dim Sum is amazing.
Love the vibe on a weekend and what a great special on the sushi and also vegan menu available now.
A very pricey restaurant, food is good and staff are very friendly. The menu has a good a variety to choose from. A meal for two with starters will set you back anything from 500 - 700 rand. However as a once in a while its worth it.
Great food and average service
Excellent service & amazing sushi with awesome company#lunch#packagingsupplier#sushi#frozenteam
What a great place and atmosphere! Beautiful outdoor seating in an enclosed courtyard. Casual yet elegant dining. The food was great, got to taste the springbok and ostrich burger which was very big and pretty good. The chips were amazing too. Finished off with the creme brulee, best Ive had on a long time. We had a great evening, our waiter was always there to make sure we were happy.
Thank you Beluga Cape Town for hosting Mr South Africa Finalist. The atmosphere is amazing.Let me set the mood for:Walked from the parking to the entrance of the restaurant and welcomed on the red carpet by the amazing staff. The mood set with dimmed lights, A warmth feeling of belonging and feeling of being right at home on a winter night and the fire place lit as we are directed to our tables with soft music to get you into a great mood.Table setting with candles to set the mood, we seated at our table and the amazing band starts to play.Warm bread brought to the table with Olive oil and balsamic vinegar and your glass is filled with red wine.Would like to know what happend after that?Visit @Beluga to complete the experience and amazing ambiance.#belugarestaurant
Great food and lovely ambiance
Lovely. Enjoyed every moment there❤️
Great Evening , great food
Tasty sushi and a good selection of beer and wine.
Great service. Good food
Visited Beluga Restaurant when they launched their new whisky lounge.
UPDATE: They are closed. Such sad news. Hope they are able to reopen one day.BEFORE COVID: Lovely outdoor area, great vibe with live music and fantastic food. We had the seafood platter for 2, it was delicious.
Went twice to this place when it was happy hour so you could get sushi for half the price. We loved the creative selection and the staff was helpful. The food was delicious and was delivered quickly. All in all a very good sushi experience.
Pricey but food is worth every penny. Good wine and sushi. You cannot go wrong with this choice to take your partner out for the evening. Service is also very good. Friendly smiles and responsive waiters and waitresses.
Casual dining, excellent food and service.
Has a good selection. I had calamari starter and seafood linguine main. Tasted like I could have made the same dish at home. Lacked the wow factor. But food was nice
Beluga is no longer there is a Misfit
There are nice place and atmosphere, but so many flies arounding you when you were eating and the food taste is common!
Good food. Nice ambience.
Excellent waitress Jackie, ate outside with heaters to warm us. Menu options were varied. Wine choices extensive. Food did take a while to arrive . We all enjoyed our choices, nothing was forgotten. Would definitely return
The food is delish and the staff are welcoming and excellent. Their seafood quality is tremendous and pricing welcoming for an income bracket
Great value sushi and dim sum. Its not the best the city has but it is definitely still worth a visit. One of my fave lunch spots
An amazing venue that serves great sushi amongst other delicious fare including steak and line fish. Service was excellent and the staff were friendly. The outside courtyard seating area has an industrial feel with easy access to the bar area.
Fantastic service! The waiters are friendly and professional. The food was also great! We had sushi and it was some of the best sushi Ive had. I would absolutely visit Beluga again and can recommend it.
Great sushi ... Awesome cocktails ... cant ask for more
Parking was readily available. We were heartily welcomed and we could choose a window seat. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and assisted us in choosing the perfect meal. We chose the set menu and the food was absolutely magnificent. The portions were ample. Maybe add a cheesecake to your desert menu
From the warm and inviting atmosphere to the exceptional service, my experience at Beluga was nothing short of spectacular. Our waitress Jackie was friendly, attentive and efficient. The food was amazing and the wine was top class. Thank you for the amazing evening Beluga!
