I called ahead and placed at order at 4:50 and had to wait over an hour. Got there 20 mins after I order, and the waiter was nonchalant and told me to wait. I could see the chefs making other orders for people who had just sat down at the restaurant, ahead of mine and had to constantly ask the waiter, who I had to struggle to get her attention, to check for my order. After which I arrived home I found crab in my vegetarian only combo.. Really disappointed.. Use to order all the time at the place.. Really bad service and negligence

The service is whack and slow. If u dont order sushi they ignore u and neglect u. I really had a bad experience shame! I went there for cocktails with my friend, we ended up leaving after spending 30min without our drinks.

It is a nice and cozy restuarant. I loved the sushi that was served and they have good specials. The waitress was just inattentive and it took a while for us before we could order our drinks.

Worst experience ever. We had the sushi buffet and sat by the belt. Firstly the majority of food on the belt was prawn chips and ice cream. Secondly the food we did order came an hour and 15 minutes after the order was made and the got the order very wrong. Was a terrible experience.

The all-you-can-eat sushi market seems pretty saturated in Stellenbosch, but this place takes the spot of best in town I believe. It has a belt, service is friendly, you get a massive variety of both Chinese food and sushi on the belt that is constantly being churned out by the skilled chefs at an impressive speed, and it is cheaper than places like Nuri. Definitely a value for money kind of place.

We ordered on Mr Delivery. We received our food without any chopsticks or cutlery, although we asked for some seeing as we staying in a hotel, and it was incorrect. We paid extra for noodles and received rice. The soup is made with sweetcorn so it is sickly sweet. We contacted the restaurant wasted airtime only to be told they would call back but never did. The food tastes similar and there isnt much of a taste difference. Service is awful in my opinion.

You have to wait a VERY long time to get your food. There are a lot of waiters but its very hard to get their attention as theyre always in the kitchen area.

Out of all my sushi experiences, this was mediocre at best, it wasnt busy yet the waiters where hardly present the sushi rice was sweet as if cooked in sugar making us both nauseous. Really not a good experience wouldnt come back at all.

First and foremost, I love Watami, I have had some of the best food and experiences here.Now on to tonights sit-down experience. We arrive, its busy, basically no sushi on the belt. Makes sense since miss Rona is a thing. Then we order. Now to be fair is was very busy and there was only 3 waiters, but here are a few things the peeved me a bit the wrong way. Like:• Waiters just changing peoples orders.• Waiting 40mins for water, just water.• My food took about an hour, but some people literally had empty tables all night.• Slow, forgetful and dismissive staff. I get that its busy, but atleast be friendly. Also... Wear your mask, please.• UberEats orders taking all the preference. Its basically just a functioning sushi delivery service now.Just bring back the old Watami....

The Best Sushi in Stellenbosch in my opinion....the buffet @ R185 per person is worth it.....timing is everything at this place....best times would 5:30PM to 7:00PM for the most fresh and best variety sushi.....the waiters are friendly and polite....ask for the Chocolate Spring rolls & ice cream before you leave.....you will feel like you have to tip the waiters

I have ordered their sushi twice for takeaways and found it to be really fresh and good value for money. I ordered dishes from their hot foods menu once and was bitterly disappointed. The dishes that I thought was particularly bad was the hot sour soup, Singapore rice noodles and salt and pepper crispy calamari.

Waited over an hour for our first order. You are only allowed to order 3 dishes at a time. Asked 5 different waiters before we eventually were served. When we said we were just going to leave they didnt seem to care. Food came just as we were getting up to leave. Sushi wasnt bad but dont have the sticky tuna.... Smells like cat food and tastes (what I can imagine) worse. They also kept packing more and more people into an already over crowded restaurant that they couldnt keep up with. Suggest you rather go elsewhere. Better sushi and much much much better service at other places.

Ordered a take away, they had a nice special. Sushi was good BUT the soy sauce is disgustingly sweet (we rushed somewhere to try and get normal ones) and I dont remember this being normal but the rice of the sushi was hard the next day. Maybe it was my fridge. But otherwise it was good, just didnt appreciate the quality of some of the pieces that I got - like with the crunch roll, which is my fav.

I would give 0 stars if I could. The wonton soup was literally inedible. The broth which is supposed to be watery, was thick but still see-through. Thick with what???My wife loves any kind of Asian food, she took one sip of the broth, decided to not take one more sip. And then one bite of a wonton, and nothing more.We will never go back here.

Watami is a casual sushi bar that is well suited to groups of people.The sushi quality is unfortunately not the greatest. The R145 buffet does justify the quality howeverService is sub-par, with the waiters/waitresses often being impatient, rude and slow. Our orders have *regularly* been messed up, with the restaurant being very reluctant to change/right the order.Suki Thai Provides a considerably better sushi experience

It took an hour to get our food. The sushi was good, but the service was atrocious. They also just keep shovelling people into an already overcrowded restaurant. If you have all the patience in the world, go for it, the food is good - but if not, I would stay clear from Watami.

We went to Watami for some chinese food and I have to say, the pad-thai is a definite winner in my books. My wife had the cashewnut chicken wich was also really amazing. Would definitely come again soon.

My friend and i rushed there one night as we both craved sushi. When we arrived there at about 9:05 pm, the waiter said theyre closed and cant help us while the sign on the door clearly said they close at 10pm. The waiter also seemed to have had a problem as she wasnt very friendly.
