Best Prawns and Chicken ever

Food is good, service is poor. Order to 61 minutes for a whole chicken and prawns. Initially they said 35 minutes.No service recovery or care about the delay. They offered tap water while I waited.

My opinion is the Ageda group has in general produced some good franchises.Adega Express Sandton is one of those amazing ones. Third visit there and one word comes to mind. Consistency...Consistently great food, consistently great value and consistently great service. Because of this, dining there is now a weekly must for us. Its that good!They are certainly doing something right and I wish them all the success to keep up the fantastic service that Solomon and his team are doing. Well done guys. Keep up the great work! See you next week again and the week thereafter and thereafter... 😀

Steak was tough, chips tasted like it was made i old oil.

Food does not look nor taste like Adega. I ordered the Trinchado and it was like meat drenched with beef sauce. Chilli sauce was good

04.01.2019 Tried out another spot close by, wanted something spicy. Ordered the Chicken Curry and Rice. Arrived nice and hot. Alot of rice and reasonable portion of chicken. Tasty, but found the chicken pieces were not as tender or juicy.

Charging me a R25 standard fee for seating and eating at your restaurant, and you still request for a tip over and above the fee? What nonsense is this!!! Pure daylight robbery. Do you think that I am a walking ATM?We understand that Covid has probably caused you to have this R25 fee, but remember, everyone has suffered financially.Over and above this, you dont even inform your patrons about the fee prior to you serving. The surprise comes when the bill is presented to us after the meal.Going forward, I will find myself another restaurant. There are plenty restaurants out there, that will appreciate my support especially during these times.I think you deserve a zero star, but I will be compassionate to rate you with a single star.

We use to love coming to this Adega but ever since there is a new owner its gone down... Service is slow staff does not take down full orders. Brings incomplete orders. The new owner also shouted at his staff infront of all the customers.

Unfortunately recently found out this place is not NIHT certified (halaal) any longer as under new ownership. But before fully halaal and never had a bad experience over here! Really enjoy their Portuguese chicken paired with the side veg, always ask for extra sauce. The prawn rissoles are really good. The livers with the side Portuguese roll is really good, could have this as a meal instead of a starter as the portion is quite big! Enjoy their meals every time.

We usually eat the seafood at Adega and wanted to try something different yesterday. We ordered the full chicken and vegetarian pasta. The chicken was devine! Really tasty!!! And as for the vegetarian pasta, it was by far the BEST vegetarian pasta Ive ever tasted!!!! I will definitely be ordering again, and just wanted to say thank you to the manager and staff for the amazing food!

After a long break from this place,because of wrong orders,long waiting and no serving of vegetables or no eating utensils.Decided to go back to give them another chance,was met with information that prices have gone up..and the extra sauce i usually got for free was now R9,00.I placed my order and waited.Praying that i would not be missing something this time.To my dismay,the chicken was fine..but the side servings of the butternut and cream spinach was a total disaster.There was no cream in both and was dripping with water in both them.Could not even eat that disappointment,rather decided to close that silver foil and chuck that %#@ish in the bin. Officially have parted ways with them,they can keep their food,I will keep my hard earned money.

My partner and I had lunch here. The food was awful ! Prawn pasta had no flavor and the sauce was runny . Could barely even find any prawns and the sauce. I recall having the very same pasta in Durban and it was so well infused with prawn and garlic flavor with a hint of chili . This was just a recipe for disaster . I ordered a combo and the plating was so poor ! The sauce on the steak tasted like it was made from an instant powder and it has all over the plate running into the veggies and the side of prawns . The chicken livers I ordered was well done but it was over powered by the excessive white sauce and all you could taste was cream . Absolutely no flavor ! I’m not sure who these people cater for but don’t waste your money on such mediocre food ! Plenty of better places to eat on sandton city . I went to Adega express because I thought it would be the same quality as the one in Durban ... so much for that

Excellent service, yummy food

I enjoyed lunch with my family at Adega last weekend. The food was beyond incredible! It looks like the store underwent a massive revamp. The store is much much more fancier, diverting and cleaner than ever. It definitely looks like a place for fine dining. The service was also incredible but not as good as the food. The prawns here are a must have here; They are fresh and taste amazing!

I had Arabiata pasta and it was not up to standards. It was too oily and salty.

Ordered a take away and got a horrible box of chips. Their food is not what it used to be.

Ordered a prawn pasta. The sauce and pasta was great, but the prawns tasted like they came from a frozen box.The Prego burger was also disappointing to look at.Is the service fee you automatically put on the bill a tip? Kind of annoying that you do not let customers tip based on their experience with the servers, you demand they pay what you add onto the bill.

Absolutely livid, ordered takeaways and what I found in the package was old burnt chicken that they tried to hide by literally drenching it in sauce & the rolls they gave us tasted like they were baked 2 weeks ago. If you want Adegas rather avoid this branch & go somewhere else.

Had lunch here today after a very long time. Service is okay. My chicken was overcooked. My husband enjoyed his steak. Drinks are served in the cans. No glasses. I dont think I will come back here. Not like it was before.

40 minute wait times for a take away. And dont bother asking them to check on your order, they treat you as if they are doing you a massive favour (if youre lucky enough to even be acknowledged). On top if that they got my order wrong.

Always enjoy eating at this particular Adega since it opened as the owner is hands on and always adds a personal touch. Havent been here for a while though and decided to eat here yesterday and the food was OK and service was really slow. The menu hasnt vene improved so I was a little disappointed.

Decent food but below average service at cramped restaurant. Waiters seem disinterested in serving you. Seating and tables are cramped and restaurant feels a bit run down. About time for a revamp, in terms of service and facilities.

Pathetic service, unfriendly staff, when the food did manage to arrive they confused my order with someone else. Best bit was the dirty cutlery, ice machine packed up and the attitude of the cashier. Never again!! Stick to the original Adega restaurants. Rivonia is a gem compared to this nightmare.

The food is great but the service is almost always poor. Better to just get a take away.

Used to be the best. Now they are greedy. Charging R10 for a 10ml of sauce, and the chicken also doesnt have any sauce now. Dont skimp on quality, guys!!! #ifyoureadthis

If you think the in restuarant service is bad than rather not try them via Mr D.My food arrived cold, items missing, and the items that did arrive were wrong.Rather try Adega on William Nicol...now thats service and the food is awesome.

Had some meals on sunday 14th april and was not excited about the food as i was a few months ago. food was served somewhat cold , and it did not have its renowned spicy and fresh taste. the chicken livers was quite sad - seemed shredded in sauce. staff was friendly but not the food. sadly this is it for me

I have been eating there for awhile now the last was just before the Islamic ramadhaan, and the food has been great always, the chicken the prawns, the sauce was wonderful, my only complaint is they just need Abit more space. The Adegas in Rivonia was hopeless - took for ever to bring my food, gave me two prawns short and it happened twice..wont be going there

I contact adegas express at 1pm with my order asking them to have it delivered by 5pmThey did not tell me then that I’m too far out for them to deliverI foned back at 3 to find out if my order is being processed they said me my order is not yet made and the driver says he can’t deliver so I asked to speak to the driver when I did the drive told me don’t worry I will deliver your stuff at an extra charge I said to him that’s fine i foned him back at 4pm u til 4.15 he refused to answer my call so I contacted the adegas express back and then they tell me so sorry the driver is unable to deliver your stuff and I’m suppose to be breaking my fast 5pm it’s very upsetting all they cudve done when I first contacted them was to tell me so sorry we do not deliver to you mam instead of making me wait and fone them a million times only to find out I’m not getting my food at all very bad service

Eat there all the time. However past few times we are there, waiters are slow, wrong orders. Yesterday we ate there the hake was overcooked and pasta had no taste at all. Will not be going back there any time soon.

Our first time experience and it will be the last time. Everything was done incorrectly hence we did not have our main course. The Manager has no people skills.

I found hair in my food and the manager insists that it is not hair..when you can actually see that it is hair.He wanted me to eat the same food by just removing the hair.Pathetic service and cleanliness.The manager needs to learn customer service.

When I received my bill the waiter brought it with the pen which normally I allocate a tip with. As I was about to add a tip to the amount I noticed a service fee third in the row of 4 items ordered. I asked the waiter what this service fee was for and he said it was for the sit down and services rendered. I thus almost tipped him twice with him having snuck the service fee in there and handing me a pen with the bill then pausing with the card machine prompting me to tip with this nonverbal gesture. This I found very sneaky and fraudulent. I looked around at the other customers and it looked like they were all writing out tip amounts onto their bills. Not sure if they checked the charges to see if this had happened to them too... Looks like this is standard practice here. Please double check your bill before you pay for food here.

A good restaurant with excellent food. Very tasty, of high quality and not just any kind of fast food stuff. Also reasonably priced and not too expensive. Service and staff very friendly and courteous. The food is particularly interesting for the Muslim audience, as only halal meat is used here, which is not uncommon in the metropolitan areas in South Africa. Highly recommended! I cannot fully understand the evaluation of other people.
