The only thing l like about this gym is the parking space ( it’s enormous!).•Don’t expect a friendly welcome by the entrance•The gym is very crowded• The equipment is old and there’s only one or two of each machine (especially by the weights area)• The machines are very VERY close to each other ( Covid-19 2 meter rule is not observed)• The classes are packed and the trainer moving around screaming “let’s go!!” in your face w/o a mask makes it worse!

This has got to be the worse Virgin Active in the whole of South Africa. I canceled my account and then was able to re-instate it however the sales person has actually just messed me around from the past month with having my account still pending a month later. And as we know he has just been sandbagging it on his end. Not to mention I had to re-pay the activation fee for my vitality membership even though I was still in the grace period of having it still active. Not to mention that the gym is in ruins with faulty or broken equipment.

The club is well managed. All equipment is in order, COVID regulations upheld and the staff is welcoming. There is enough room to do your own thing if you want me time or join a group class if into socializing. Class bookings are online and often you will find a slot an hour before.

Hospitable atmosphere. There are three pools (main, aerobic and jacuzzi) the last of which is a selling point for me. All the main equipment, great overall gym.

This branch has definitely dropped its standard in the past year and a half. Equipment broken and not well spaced. I have struggled to reach the manager and queries have gone unanswered. I have since moved to Planet Fitness down the road after 20 years at Virgin Active. It is much better and half the price.

This was a flagship facility not long ago, no idea what happened in the meantime but this gym is in serious need of maintenance and repairs. Was so disappointing returning here after 3 years and seeing the state that it is in.

The difference maker is the Jacuzzi. Outstanding. Although the weights section can be improved i.e. made bigger. Some of the equipment is also rusting.

Im not member of Virgin Active since last year, but today they suddenly charged my banking account. Whats the deal?

The gym equipment is falling apart and the facility needs attention. We have complained about the condition of the equipment numerous times, but never get any feedback. In comparison to Virgin Actives in the Western Cape, Bryanston is below standard - equipment, cleanliness and service.

My regular gym, but I’m disappointed that the weights are the old plastic style, and often broken. I’ve been promised the new weights for months, but I continue to wait rather impatiently. Sort this out and the gym will be perfect.

Why does Virgen Active have staff members with temperatures over 37.2 still standing at reception and walking around the gym??!! I caught two ladies making fun about it an the manager audaciously corrects by saying it is still below Gov regulations!

Was busy when I visited at 5pm-620pm but not too crowded.

Always clean facilities, wonderful atmosphere and experience. Absolutely friendly staff, my kids love to go to Club-V and swimming in the splash pool. The sauna and jacuzzi are the perfect end to a gym session 😊

Kauai is the best!Aqua classes keeps changing and not consistent. Even if 1 person arrives I feel that person should still get training because that is why I pay membership fees. The showers are being cleaned during peak hours leaving minimal showers available to use

One of those good clubs in Joburg that has all amenities. Parking might be a bit hectic in the afternoon around 5-6 pm however finding an equipment you want to work on is always easily available. Quality of equipment is definitely better when compared to other clubs.

Modern clean facilities. Lots of parking. Great instructors. Clean spacious change rooms. Food court is great. Equipment is clean and looked after. Gym studios are spacious and all the staff are super friendly.

Nice big gym. Only been there once for a visit, bit decided to share what I thought. There are 3 pools, 2 of them are heated. So that could be nice if you dont really want to work out and just chill. As for weights... I dont think they have the best equipment. There doesnt seem to be enough and the area is a bit small and crowded. Theres a kauai too, so you can eat there.

No generator and no water if the power is off.

Good gym with good classes, but they often clean during the day which is inconvenient, especially given the high fees. One does not expect to work out surrounded by cleaners and puddles of soapy water on the floor, often hindering movement and access to equipment. The bathrooms are not neat and often not the most clean. Apart from that its a modern and bright workout environment. The manager is friendly and welcoming (the rest of the staff, not so much).

Weights area very basic with too few weights and sizes. Not enough benches, change room is humid because no extractors. Suppose its good enough if plan to model around and leave.

Covid doesnt exist here. No mask wearing

Great place to work out but during peak times is a nightmare. Lots of parking and friendly staff. Clean, always readily clean which is great. Trainers are quite clued up also. Great range of equipment, especially the more obscure stuff and also a fair few benches, squat racks and Smith machines (despite this you might still have to wait for them during the peak times, but you get that anywhere).Great gym.

Absolutely amazing gym, all state of the art machines, nice finishes all round in the gym, tons of classes that have quite a high capacity, nice pools available too. Although you dont want to go in peak times as you will find its hard to get parking and some open machines, it gets packed to the brim

Its a great gym, there is a vast amount of machines with many personal trainers willing to help (for a fee obviously) they have a daycare for the kiddies while the parents gym and there is a kawai restaurant with awesome smoothies and also dinner if you prefer to gym late, the only downside is that they are almost always full, 8/10 would recommend

Staff rarely friendly. Gets very busy. Parking at the front entrance can be a bit difficult. Security guards are visible at night, which is good and safe

I love this gym! It has such a great atmosphere and is very spacious! It also offers a beautiful spa area with a Sauna, Steam Room and Spa Pool! Its definitely my go-to Virgin Active!

I understand why people are moving away from Virgin Active, it has such potential but theres wide open spaces with the smallest weight section ever as well as limited weight access!! If youre a guest you need to fill in a form everytime and pay the excessive amount and then cannot even use their wifi because youre not a member! Horrible experience - glad I didnt sign up here!!

Great Virgin Active club. New Equipment and all of the in-between things you need. 8 Wattbikes for you triathlon nutters. Lots of classrooms and studios. Awesome spacious layout. The sauna, jacuzzi and steam bath are unisex facilities (and are really awesome, but take a costume ;) Kauai there too...

One of the nicest gyms to train at. Lots of machines, large spaces for weight training and some great classes available. Ive also seen the springbok rugby team train here on 2 occasions and Derrick Watt from Carte Blanch cycling here once.

Amazing gym.

The gym has got spa, jacuzzi, steam bath in addition to swimming pool. Got biokinecist, dietician rooms inside . Very spacious and well equipment. Superior than normal virgin active gyms.

KG is the rudest staff member I have ever come across. I have signed a visitors log in multiple occasions for my au pair child to swin here. Today she accused me of fraud because I am signing on behalf of the parents. She is clueless - Julia as well. Sent my au pair child to the pool to swim while I sorted out the admin and then when it was time to actually do the admin hauled a 15 year old girl out of the in front of a full gym in her costume and no mask and brought her to the front to take a picture!!!!Absolutely appalled by this branch. Consistently getting it wrong

One of the .best kept gyms with a great view. Only thing I would complain about is the cable attachments are too few, gets very busy Durning peak hours and members dont know how to replace their weights.

My Favorite Gym! Moved to Sandton year ago, dont like any Virgin Actives gyms here at all! Still driving to Bryanston, they also have best Kiddies area with lots of activities for kids different ages!

Convenient. Clean. A bit crowded. Short on parking at peak hours. Staff not very friendly and the cardio equipment needs to be maintained better but not a bad gym.

Parking is always full...but love the place

This is one of the really nice Virgin Active gyms. They have everything and things are cleaned and well maintained. Have a big pool, jacuzzi and a kiddies pool.

Although a fairly new gym compared to others, the equipment is showing signs of age and even neglect. Maintenance could be improved, as usual wherever you go I guess. It can get a bit too busy for my liking in the evenings; busy enough that you literally cannot get any set of dumbbells and especially struggle with parking.The equipment is nice however, and there is a variety of it.

Friendly staff, very hygienic. This gym is particularly great because it has a family pool, so the serous serious swimmers have the pool to themselves. Grab a Kauai smoothie on your way out!

Very modern well equipped gym with forest theme mind body studio. Good range of classes. I personally love the Tai Chi and Yoga classes

One of the bigger, better equipped gyms in SA. Decent sized Club V and huge cardio area, many studios for classes. Heated leisure plus Olympic pools. Kauai on site too

A decent gym. My biggest complaints, however, are the lack of equipment during peak times and the fact that certain areas feel a little cramped. Other than that, I enjoy training here. Just stay away during peak hours!

Nice set up but too busy most times and machines are never all up and running. For a gym that is that busy, you would expect all equipment to be running properly.

The new floor plan is not great. The mzchines are all squashed together at the back.

The busiest gym that I have ever been too. Nice facilities but it is always too full.

It’s almost impossible to have an effective workout between 4:30-7:00 pm. It’s so busy that people literally run over each other.Also, I made a complaint about the lack of sufficient calves machines (there are only two machines in such a big and busy gym) and they called me back and they suggested to teach me how to use steps to work my calves out!If I want to use steps to work my calves out I dont need to come all the way to the gym. Also, these people are supposedly fitness professionals and should know that steps and calves machines are two different motions.

New Morden Health Club. It can use an extra squat rack. Also additional treadmill might help.

Facilities arent any better than any other gym... the price per month is ridiculous... I asked to see the facilities before signing up and I was told its 270 odd for the day... thats what I pay for a month at a competitor gym with better facilities...

Club is good, but service is pathetic. They dont allow one to buy at Kauai if not a member of the club, even when one has membership of a different club. However, Lonehill did allow to access Kauai with membership of different club.

Modern gym with a variety of classes and equipment.I am down grading my previous rating. Beware when at this gym cellphones are being stolen out of locked lockers in the changing room. I came back from working out to find my combination lock missing and phone stolen on Monday June 7 2021. The same happened to 2 other women that morning, then on June 8 phones were stolen in both the womens and mens changing rooms. Apparently this has happened in the past I wish the gym would let us know so we can take precaution. Personally if I had known at Virgin Active Bryanston it was common place for lockers to be broken into regardless of the fact you ensure you place a lock on it I would never have left my phone and car keys in the locker. The gym of course wont take responsibility yet it also wont warn us members so the thieves keep winning/stealing.

Terrible safe security. I lost my 2 brand new cell phone at the club locker while I am working out.It was Saturday evening and my locker was broken by some force. No doubt about it was done by one of staff working there.Too shame that club staffs response like it is happening... here is South Africa. So so shame on You!
