Apart from the great food, the service is undeniably friendly and fast.

Myself and hubby are regulars at Ocean basket weve been to various branches around Johannesburg, Durban, Umhlanga and the South Coast. I must say we were sadly disappointed today. We ordered the two way sushi platter and a cosmopolitan pitcher. The cocktail was watered down and tasteless they offered to remake the drink but it still was not up to standard. Please ask Rare steakhouse how they prepare their Cosmos, it is life alteringly delicious 😋 anyways we waited forever for the Sushi platter to arrive and unfortunately that to was a big let down, normally this platter is very tasty but this time the rice was mushy and it just didnt taste fresh.

AVOID this place if you can . I lost my phone at this place and was never found. Case under investigation.I had to go back the following day after buying new phone to join an urgent Team meeting and needed a quite place .The Indian Manager was so rude she made me feel like a thug. Had no time to listen and kept herself busy .

Recently under new ownership. Friendly and welcoming staff. Owner personally visited each table to ensure each customer had a truly satisfactory experience. Refreshments were impeccable. The food was outstanding and clearly reflected the use of the freshest and highest quality ingredients. The food was also prepared to perfection and well presented. Fast service even in the midst of the weekend lunch hour rush.

So I love OB. I visit them all the time when travelling. At this Sandton City restaurant you do need to like Kwaito type music as this is all they cater for it seems. The Fries were cold but duly exchanged for a fresh pan. The great food saves them from a 2 star rating.

Arrived at 735 too late for sit down due to covid lockdown..we were offered a take away.Waitor was very accommodating.Our salmon sashimi and avo salad was lovely.Our calamari was OK.The chips.were disappointing but the worst was my side salad..80 percent sliced cucumber, inedible sour olives. Nice tomato.I gave them.4 stars for their attitude and willingness to accommodate our meal which was only fair

Compared to the other ocean baskets I have been to. This 1 was bad. Therefore I am rating it 2 stars. The food was definitely not up to standard.

Had these 6 fresh oysters on Mar 2, it was frozen, the water inside the oysters became ice. I started to have diarrhea on the same night and until now, just seen doctor and had a needle. The oysters were obviously not fresh and how could you serve frozen oysters to your customers!

The food was not to OB standards at all. The fish was oily and tasteless. I’m only giving a 2 star rating because the waitress was friendly. Very disappointed with food.

Hi I had a awful experience at this restaurant they add drugs to your food I.have been there yesterday after partaking in my drinks an then ordered food I had to leave the restaurant as my head was aching when I got back I did a drug test my test was positive for meth Im not on any drugs my take on it when you high you spend without thinking so they are drugging customers to get caught up in the moment an spend way over your budget as well as sleeping pills as I just got home an collapsed on my bed I will never return please guys an girls be careful its crazy out there

After getting our table upstairs, we were served drinks with some rolls/butter and salad our salad came minutes later. We were quite a big party so ordered the full deck platter. This consisted of prince prawns, mussels, calamari, calamari steak strips and hake. Preparation was quite swift considering it was a big meal.Atmosphere was calm and quiet, with a large screen in the background (Sandton City malls food court TV) and the environment was relaxed.

High standards and good service. Get a table upstairs, much better vibe and although not liveTV as far as I know the REALLY BIG SCREEN creates a great atmosphere. Go-to-place for good seafood.

I hate to even give this three stars but those that were there would understand. Our waiter was the best part of the experience and I would personally give him ten stars. But management decided it was appropriate to have a bunch of painters just.... Sitting there after everyone packed up the furniture in the lower area for painting they were starting at 930. It was nowhere near that time and it just made us feel inconvenient and awkward while we rushed along eating. Also, bit issue with the rice... There was none. I couldnt order any sushi that included rice. The food we did get was great. The service was great. The experience left me underwhelmed. I was expecting more from that.

We went for supper and was treated with so much care from our waiter and we asked the waiter to please Call the manager as we wanted to inform him what a good staff he has. The manager prince is really rude..he told the waiter he is busy but was not doing anything but standing and watching people eat as we sat directly in his view and could see. For about an hour he just stood infront of the sushi bar and did not even come to us even though our waiter advised him we called him. I mean how arrogant and blatantly rude. Will never go there again cos of him.but our waiter was a gem.

Great seafood at very friendly prices. One suggestion for the tea selection is they should include spicy tea or want we call masala tea. Once that is available it becomes a 5 star joint.

Service was average. Had to ask for a bowl for the prawn shell dirt. Had to remind the waitress for my salad. Food was not very good. I had the prawns and calamari combo. Calamari was overcooked and the lemon butter sauce was almost non existant. All of this with blasting music. We were seated at the bottom level. I doubt I would return to this ocean basket.

Really nice meals with a fair price for them. This Ocean Basket is located in the food court at Sandton City (Mandela Square) so its a safe place and well served with all infrastructure and security. I recommend at all!!!

I have eaten at various Ocean Baskets around SA and we all know that service levels and food consistency in South Africa is as consistent as a politicians word.. This particular restaurant have seen me on many an occasion from dining solo to corporate lunch meetings in various group sizes. They are consistently good. To be fair better than good, food is fast when group sizes is below 6 over that it seems to take an additional 15 mins, but the quality is always great, from the sushi to the platters, this is one of the best OB restaurants around.

Very good and reliable standard. Can only remember one time that ocean basket disappointed (not this one). Had sashimi tuna - delicious, fresh and wasabi has a punch which I like. Then a seafood Platter. Prawns, mussels, squid heads, calamari tubes and Kingklip fish. Exchanged the fries and rice for creamed spinach. It was super delicious. Not one disappointing bite. Cant wait to go back again. Speed of service could be slightly faster but staff was friendly.

Ordered platter for 1 ,asked waiter for the Pora Sauce and he mentioned it’s R10 rand more NOT a problem ,food came was mild and had no no taste what so ever ,service is really slow waited for 40 minutes just to eat and pay for cold food.Prince needs some customer service as he seems lost .Dont waste you time !!!!!
